External HD- recover deleted music

I had my 80G external partitioned into two sections: one for backups, and one containing all my iTunes music. i decided i didn't want two partitions and re-partitioned it so that there was only one. in so doing, all my itunes music was erased. believe it or not, i managed to the update my ipod, losing all the music off from there as well. is there an easy/cost-effective way to recover my music? thanks a bunch!

Unless you have written other things over your files will still all be there, but you will need to get expert help to recover them. Any decent computer centre should be able to do the recovery and as it's not because of any malicious coding (eg a virus) it shouldn't be too hard for them.
Good luck!

how to recover deleted music from ipod touch?

This is not a complicated problem. And you can easilly solve it. Here is the way about how to recover music from iPod.
1 Connect your iPod to your computer to restore custom ringtones and ringtones saved to the computer.
2 Click the "iPod" button in iTunes, or select your iPod in the sidebar if you enabled the option to show the sidebar.
3 Select the "Tones" tab, check the box for each ringtone you want to transfer to your iPhone, and then click "Sync."
Sometimes a 3 party tool such as Data Recovery may help you in a easy way.

  • Recover Deleted Music

When I got my update for iOS 7.0 I didn't have enough available space, so I deleted all my apps and all the songs that started with the letters A and B and all my playlists thinking that I could re-download them back onto my phone after my update was finished from iTunes. So when my update was done I downloaded all my apps again but when I tryed to download my music back onto my phone it didnt work it only brought back like three songs. Then I thought maybe I could find some help online from other people's questions. Someone said to put my phone into my pc and set it up as a new iPhone. So I decided to try it but I didnt know how to do that. So if anyone can help with my problems that would be great. You could just tell me how to set my phone up as a new iPhone or maybe a different way to get my music back. Please help! Thank you!

Never mind....maybe I'll just use my backed up itunes disk...sheesh, I need some coffee.........

  • IMac G5 with OSX 10.5.8 does not recognize my Western Digital external drive containing the majority of my music library.  Is there any way to access that drive and recover the music stored there?

I have an iMac G5 with OSX 10.5.8 that does not recognize my Western Digital external drive.  I had no problems with this until I upgraded to 10.5.  Most of my music library is stored on the external drive.  Is there any way to access it to recover the music?

How is it connected?  Have you tried different port?  How about logging in as a different user then trying to mount the drive.

  • Recovering recently deleted music files

so i was running this software that is supposed to remove all duplicated files from your hardrive, Tidy Up!, to be more specific. And after letting it scan and emptying my trash bin i noticed my hard drive had about 30 extra gigs when it said it would be around 6. Low and behold my music had been deleted.
so is there any way to recover my music or to reboot from like a day ago in hopes of all my stuff still being there?

    Hi Viral,
Check out Data Rescue II, it should have no problems recovering something that was deleted a day ago.

Restoring the iPod won't delete the content of the iTunes library. Back it up anyway.

    A: If Windows isn't working:
You need to boot the computer from a "recovery disk or USB" that has a operating system on it and a graphical user interface to transfer files from your boot drive to a external drive.
I suggest using the Easy USB Installer to install Ubuntu 10.10 onto a 2-4 GB USB key.
    http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/
Once you have it installed, consult this page for your BIOS boot key to hold to get into the BIOS.
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/a/biosaccess_pc.htm
Plug the USB into the back (if possible) of the computer, connect the external drive and enter the BIOS, set the USB as first boot and SAVE.
Boot off the USB and "Try Ubuntu/Run from disk" DON'T INSTALL.
Once in, go under the menu Places > Computer and transfer your files to the external drive just like you would in Windows, drag and drop.
B: If the computer hardware isn't working, but the drive might still work:
You'll have to remove the power cord and manually extract the hard drive. This might result in some damage.
There is a powered IDE/SATA to USB adapter for sale online for $20 that you can take that internal hard drive and use it like a external drive to access your files from another Windows machine.
C: If your iTunes content is deleted...
It might be recoverable if it hasn't been overwritten yet by fresh data.
You need to use undelete software pre-installed before the iTunes content was deleted or while on a bootable cd/USB and a external drive to transfer the recovered files.
D: If the hard drive doesn't work and...
The data isn't worth spending $2000-$3000 in a ATTEMPT at recovery, then your finished
E: If you have a "iDevice" with any content
It can be synced back into iTunes, check at iLounge what third party software works reliably now and for your version.
Once you log into your iTunes account, you can snyc only iTunes purchased content back from a iDevice
F: If any of the above is too hard, or the data is of "critical importance"
Then seek professional computer or forensic level recovery services.
    Hope this helps.

  • HT204406 My HDD crashed which held all of my music.  Can I recover the music from iTunes Match and download it back to a new HDD?

My HDD crashed and it contained all of the music from which iTunes and iMatch pulled files from.  Is there a way to recover the music from iTunes Match and download it back to my new HDD?

My computer HDD did not crash only my external drive with the music files.  I have not had to reinstall iTunes software.  The iTunes libarary is still complete and shows the complete list of music.  I have also ran Update iTunes Match and all of the music is on the cloud.
I cannot play the music from iTunes that is on the cloud, however the music I purchased from iTunes did download and it will plan from my computer.
The matched or uploaded music is what will not download and I can't find a command that allows me to download from Match.
Sorry if I'm not being very clear, however I do really appreciate your help and suggestions.

  • As of today I can no longer delete music from iTunes.

    Hello friends!
I can't seem to delete music from iTunes 10.(whatever the latest version is) or on my iPhone4. I just want to change what I have on my iPhone, but then I realized that it may be an issue with iTunes after I tried to delete something there.
I only know of two ways to delete music. One is to select/ highlight want I want to delete and select the delete funtion in the edit part of the bar. The other is to do the Command D shortcut. Neither of these work as of today. Yesterday it did indeed work for I changed some stuff before work.
I am nothing of a techy sort. Here is some info, but it may be invalid.
*I have an eMac running Leopard.
*iTunes 10.4 (I think) last update a few days ago.
*iPhone 4...updated today with the new updates.
*I have my music saved on an external harddrive. I have the folder set up to put my library there.
*Edit/ Delete doesn't work, neither does Command D.
This is the only issue I've ever had. Any suggestions?

It could be an issue with permissions on your system.
I would suggest beginning your troubleshooting by running Disk Utility (In the applications--> utilities folder), and choosing "Repair Permissions".
You should also check to see if the music has a little exclamation mark next to the song -- that means it isn't able to find your music, and you'll want to doubleclick the song to make sure it plays okay.
Secondly I would suggest you run Disk Utility again and this time you run it on your external drive and select "Repair Disk".  That will check your external drive for problems.
My guess is that your iTunes Music Library file inside your User folder--> Music folder is damaged.. but see where you get with the Disk utility repairs first and let us know!

  • How do i recover deleted user

I have accidentally deleted my original user while trying to install a new user. I found the previous user file and dragged all the contents into a new user folder but that did not work. I took the imac to the Apple Store and the "genius" at the genius bar deleted that user before I could stop him. Now the files I found no longer exist, even in the disk image for the original user. None of my original settings work any more. I think the original user files must exist somewhere but it is not in the usual places.
    More detail:
I was trying to set up a second user on the imac (2010) and migrate the user's info from a Powerbook G4 into the new user. The Apple support page said that I had to restart the powerbook in Target Mode to do the migrate. I renamed the user on the Powerbook to match the user on the iMac, restarted in Target mode and did the migrate. The migrate overwrote the original user info on the iMac, wiping out and settings, email and contacts. Not only that, the Target mode apparently did away with any user info I was trying to migrate, so what I ended up with on both computers is basically the factory setting as if there were no users. I attempted to recover the previous user as described above, but the folders had red Xes in them and did not reset the user info. But the info was there in the folders under the original user name. Went to the "Genius" bar where they got the laptop to at least recover the emails, etc. The next thing he did was to go to Accounts and delete the previous (original) user. Then he went searching for the previous user, but there was nothing in the folders because I had dragged, not copied them into the user he deleted. He asked if I had backups and I thought I did on an external hard drive at home. Got home and the time machine file on the hard drive was corrupt and would not back up. The only CD backup I have is two years old, so it doesn't have any iphone info.
So now I have two computers that sort of work but doesn't recognize any of the users for setup and email purposes. I'm afraid to synch my iphone because it warns me that it doesn't recognize the user and will replace info on the iphone. And all of my emails for the last few years are gone.
I thought I was getting backed up by the Backup application but it doesn't work. The laptop was set to backup to Mobile Me which doesn't work any more and I can't recover anything for it from icloud. The imac was supposed to be backed up to icloud but backup doesn't recognize any files there. I really don't know where to go from here except back to the "geniuses" at the genius bar and ask for an advanced tech support person.
    Any suggestions?

Whew, if those files were secure deleted, they're cgone.
Your only slim hope is to quit using it completely to preent deleted file spaces being overwritten.
It may be possible to recover some erased ones, but you must quit using the Computer immediately, because the OS will think it can write to those freed blocks on the disk.
Either boot this one in Target mode...

And recovering from another Mac, or booting this Mac from another HDD, then using Data Rescue...

(Has a Free Demo to see if it could or not, but you'll need another drive to recover to).

  • I need to recover deleted data from my iPhone 4S but don't have a recent backup. I thought by pressing sync on my macbook this would back up-but I was wrong. There are no backups on my macbook and the latest backup on iCloud was Jan 2012. Please help

I need to recover deleted data from my iPhone 4S but don't have a recent backup. I thought by pressing sync on my macbook this would back up…but I was wrong. There are no backups on my macbook and the latest backup on iCloud was Jan 2012. My mum died in May and I had lots of text messages that I wanted to keep. I really want to get them back. Is there any way at all I can get that deleted data from the phone?

Since it has always been very basic to backup your computer and all it's data, Apple provides no way for you to transfer music from your iPhone back to your computer.  As you know, you can re-download all iTunes purchases, but music that you ripped yourself you'll have to just re-rip again.
You can try and find 3rd party applications that might help you.  I'm sure you'll pay, however.
Let this be a very important lesson learned.
    Best.
