External HD_Ultrabeat: Please locate...

I have recently added an external FW 800 hard drive to my system.
I dragged the "Logic" folder from the:
Mac HD/Library/Appl. Support/
To the external drive, made an alias of that folder
and placed the alias back in: Mac HD/Library/Appl. Support/
and removed the word "alias".
Everthing is working EXCEPT when I choose one of the kits in Ultrabeat
a dialogue asks me: Ultrabeat:please locate...
and asks to locate each individual sample,
although if I Cancel, the kit loads.
But next time I change kits, it asks again.
I know this question has been asked countless times,
but I have searched multiple Logic forums without
finding a definitive answer.
I understand everyone has different systems, multiple drives, etc.
but can anyone tell me the best location for EXS Factory Samples, Plug-in Settings, Sampler Instruments, Ultrabeat Samples etc. for someone with one system drive and one external?
All help is appreciated.

Everthing is working EXCEPT when I choose one of the
kits in Ultrabeat
a dialogue asks me: Ultrabeat:please locate...
and asks to locate each individual sample,
although if I Cancel, the kit loads.
But next time I change kits, it asks again.
Robert,
Actually, there other things that won't work correctly either. You just haven't discovered them yet! If you must have all this stuff on an external drive, then it needs to be done a lot more specifically.
I posted a screenshot of my alias structure on this thread:
http://www.logicprohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=9104
. . . which has worked flawlessly for me and many others. Note that if you re-install Logic, these folders get overwritten.

  • Need advice on retrieving Bitlocker Key or External Key File Location

My Windows 8.1 PC includes a system drive and data drives. All the drivers were encrypted using Bitlocker with the data drives set for autounlock.
I recently decrypted the system drive (without decrypting the data drives, <very bad>) and reinstalled the OS, after which my data drives required the Bitlocker recovery key to unlock.
However, I had "backed up" the recovery keys to my Microsoft account but now I cannot find them.
I have tried to use the "manage-bde" command at the console to obtain the Recovery Keys but I am only getting the Numerical Password ID and the External Key File Name. Can anyone provide advice on how I can retrieve the recovery passwords
or the External Key File location?
Before I had set the data drives to autounlock I had used a recovery password to unlock the drives. However, now when I try to unlock the data drives only the recovery key (which I don't have) is being requested not the password.
    Thanks.

    Hi HMcBean,
How did you back up the BitLocker recovery key? To local computer, flash driver or Microsoft account?
If you backed up the recovery key to a Microsoft account, please refer to the following article to find it.

  • "Ultrabeat - Please Locate". What do I do now?  *scratches head*

So when I launch a project containing ultrabeat instances, I get a search dialog box that says "ultrabeat - please locate."   Being as though ultrabeat is built into Logic, I don't see how this could be a problem.
I recently moved some stuff around, but I can't see how it could account for this.  I moved the "ultrabeat samples" folder to an external hard drive, but I created an alias, so that shouldn't be it.  Also, Logic is looking for "ultrabeat" and not "ultrabeat samples," so that should rule this out.
One hunch I am thinking is that there could be an "ultrabeat" plugins folder that is located in user/music/audio music apps/ plugin settings?  Or somewhere similar that it can't find?  I don't quite get what it could be looking for...
I moved the samples back to the Logic folder, and it still shows that message.  I repaired permissions and restarted my computer with no luck.  In addition to my relocating the the ultrabeat samples folder, I also moved the EXS factory samples as well but I haven't noticed any trouble related to that move.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for the reply!  As you can see, it is the typical search dialog box.  enlongated it to show you the file path it shows by default.  Nothing shows up in the "logic" folder as you can see, and the loading animation continuously spins in the bottom left of the dialog, as you can see.  What do you think?

    Hi Ridgewood,
As my point of viewer, the BitLocker Automatic unlock volume is also protected by BitLocker Disk Encryption. The user encrypted information is stored in the registry and volume metadata. After a user unlocks the operating system volume, BitLocker uses the
encrypted information to unlock the data volume automatically.
After the reinstallation of the system, the encrypted information is lost and BitLocker can’t unlock the data volume automatically.
Every volume has own recovery key.
As mentioned in your post, the data drive require the recovery key to unlock.
I suggest you to double-check the OneDrive and try to find out where did you store the recovery key.
If you can’t find the recovery key, we can’t help you to decrypt the data volume.

  • What does this mean? "Please locate: 0.2s_Exciting Vocals.SDIR"

Every time I try to load an older project I used with a particular template, I get the message: "Please locate: 0.2s_Exciting Vocals.SDIR"
As far as I can tell, this was a particular setting I had in Space Designer (which was on a Bus).
I've tried locating this using spotlight, but have had no such luck.
Is this an OLD impulse response from Logic 7 that Logic 8 no longer has, or am I missing something? Can someone else look and see if they have this particular SDIR in Space Designer?
    Thank you very much!

Yes, it's in the LP7 legacy content:
You can find this on your Logic Studio installer disk.
    Logic Content/Logic Install/LogicLegacyContent/Library/Audio/Impulse Responses/Apple/05 Legacy Spaces/01 Vocal Reverbs/
So re-run your LS installer, select a custom install, and just install the LP7 Legacy Content - or just use Pacifist to install the LP7 Legacy impulses to your system.

  • How to point Itunes to a new location where music is stored Cannot locate music now it is on an external drive PLEASE HELP!!!!

    Background Info
i have recently got rid of my Windows machine an am now using my MacBook as my main machine
On the old windows Desktop   i had my music set up as follows
    Itunes libary information:
    C:\Documents and settings\Lee Robinson\My Documents\My Music\
all of the Music files were stored on the PC as follows
    G:\Music\My Music
Before i got rid of the machine i backed up all of my music and my iTunes libary files as follows to a External USB Harddrive that is now connected to my mac
    Music Located @
    /Volumes/AFRO-PORT/My Music
the iTunes Libary is located at the following
    /Volumes/AFRO-PORT/My Music/iTunes
what i then did was to copy  my itunes libary files at  /Volumes/AFRO-PORT/My Music/iTunes  to my local Mac machine .....
    /Users/Afroboy/Music
    Problem
Now when i fire up Itunes, i have all my playlists, ratings abum art etc...... but the problem i have is that itunes cannot locate any of the files. I guess that this is because my entire libary is still pointing to
G:\Music\My Music -  as on my old windows PC
How do i tell itunes that this is no longer where i keep my music and for the actual MP3 files itself it needs to look at the following path
    /Volumes/AFRO-PORT/My Music
... all file structures within these 2 file directories remain the same
I would really appreciate the heklp-  my music collection is quite big and i dont want to loose any of the work i have done building it up over the past 5 years
    Cheers
    LR

Hi  - thanks for the response
yes thats right, i have always kept my itunes folder and the directory containing all of my actual media seperate
all of the Music files were stored on the PC as follows:
    G:\Music\My Music
    Itunes libary information:
    C:\Documents and settings\Lee Robinson\My Documents\My Music\
Your quite right, doing the above method that i have, turns it really messy when you  when you try to move your entire collection. i saw this article earlier today
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
..........wish i followed it before hand
The only Semi work arond i have found is to go to File> Add libary.... and brows to what is now my new external drive with all my music on  /Volumes/AFRO-PORT/My Music/ .
Once the import was complete it effectivly dupicated my entire libary -  So i then went to
File > Display Duplicates to show duplicate items, sorted by date and removed all the duplicate items
.... So far seems to have worked ok however i have lost my play lists, their all on my iPod anyway so all seems fine now
As you said iTunes wants you to do thinngs in a certian way and it certianly makes you pay if you dont. So now my question is, so i dont have this problem in the future..... do i
    A) Manually move all of my Music files to my iTunes Liabry and have everything in one folder (If i move manually where do i need to copy all my files to?)
    B) Start from Scratch and let iTunes do it, so i have everything on the external disk

  • Logic Pro 9 - Please Locate: *******.*** External HD

    Hi,
Im a bit new to logic and Im currently working on a song that Im saving in an External Hard drive. The thing is that, everytime I try to open the project, it asks me for the samples that Ive have added to ULTRABEAT.
Is quite weird because Im always using the same computer, and once I shut it down, I turn in on again and open the project, it keeps asking me the same thing.
Isnt there a way that Logic automatically saves a copy of that sample into the "Audio Files" folder and use that route instead of my HD's Folder? Just like ProTools that when I add an audio sample it saves a new copy to the projects folder.
Would be great if someone can help me with that simple feature. I havent been able to discover it.
    Thanks in advance

    Yes
When you save the project you get an option "Copy Ultrabeat samples to Project folder"
    Tick this.
As you have already set this project up you will have to Save As.. to see the option

  • Lost my Library after moving to External HD;  Please Help!

I think I may have goofed up. I copied and pasted all of My Music folder (which included the iTunes Music folder) onto an external HD. I went into Edit>Preferences>Advanced>General and changed the iTunes music folder location to M:\MUSIC\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music. I kept the 'Keep iTunes folder organize' and the 'Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library' checked.
I checked and verified that the My Music folder (including the iTunes Music folder) where on the HD. I then proceeded to go into the My Music folder on my internal HD and delete the folders within that folder to the Recycle Bin.
I opened iTunes only to find that all the songs were gone from my library! I went back to look at my last posting and found that I missed the step of Consolidating the library that CG had mentioned! What is my recourse at this point? My Recycle Bin is empty, but it appears that I have everything on my external HD.
    Please advise!

It sounds like you threw out the iTunes folder...
My Music -> iTunes -> iTunes Music
... the one shown in RED above. In that folder, in addition to the iTunes Music folder are a couple of database files. An .ITL file and a .XML file. The database files contain all the information about your library like what songs are in the library, playlists, counts, ratings, etc. If you don't have the database file, you don't have a library.
When you opened iTunes, it didn't find the database files so probably created new ones. All is not lost, except for stuff like your playlists, rating, playcounts, etc. With iTunes opened and the empty library showing, again make sure that your default location is the new location on the external hard drive in preferences for adding new content. If so, then simply do a File -> Add to library... and point to the iTunes Music folder on the external (or drag and drop that folder onto the iTunes window) and it should add all the content back to your library. Since the location you are adding it from is the same as the location iTunes uses to store the files & they should already be organized the way iTunes would do it, there should be no actual copying or moving of content. Just adding them back to your library.

  • External table - fetch location ?

    Using Oracle 10.2.0.5
An external table is a construct that gives me SQL access to a file.
Is it possible to know the name of the file somehow inside the select? Like Add a column with the file name?
    pseudo example
    CREATE TABLE EXT_DUMMY
        "RECORDTYPE" VARCHAR2(100 BYTE),
        "COL1" VARCHAR2(100 BYTE),
        "COL2" VARCHAR2(100 BYTE),
        "FILE" VARCHAR2(100 BYTE)
    ORGANIZATION EXTERNAL
        TYPE ORACLE_LOADER DEFAULT DIRECTORY "IMPORT_BAD_FILE"
        ACCESS PARAMETERS (
                 records delimited BY newline
                 FIELDS TERMINATED BY ';'
                 MISSING FIELD VALUES ARE NULL
                   ( RECORDTYPE CHAR
                   , COL1 CHAR
                   , COL2 CHAR
                   , FILE CHAR FILLER
        LOCATION ( 'Testfile1.txt, Testfile2.txt' )
        reject limit 10
;The result could look like this:
    RECORDTYPE   COL1       COL2      FILE
    SAMPLE           DUMMY    DUMMY Testfile1.txt
    SAMPLE           DUMMY1   DUMMY Testfile1.txt
    SAMPLE           DUMMY2   DUMMY Testfile1.txt
    SAMPLE           DUMMY3   DUMMY Testfile1.txt
    SAMPLE           DUMMY1   DUMMY1 Testfile2.txt
    SAMPLE           DUMMY1   DUMMY2 Testfile2.txt
SAMPLE           DUMMY2   DUMMY1 Testfile2.txtI would like to know from which file a certain row is read. Maybe I missed an option in the documentation. In this example I have two different files as the source for the external table.
Another use case could be this:
If I enable a user to switch the external table to a different file alter table EXT_DUMMY location ('Testfile3.txt' ). How can we know which file is read during the select on the table? When userA does the select, maybe userB just altered the location before the select was started. Therefore userA would read in a different file then expected.

    Hi Sven,
I'm not sure how much we can rely on this, but let's consider the following :
    create table test_xt (
      rec_id  number
    , message varchar2(100)
    organization external (
      default directory test_dir
      access parameters (
        records delimited by newline
        fields terminated by ';'
      location (
        'marc5.txt'
      , 'test1.csv'
      , 'test2.csv'
      , 'test3.csv'
);I always thought the ROWID doesn't hold much sense for an external table, but...
    SQL> select t.rowid
      2       , dump(t.rowid) as rowid_dump
      3       , regexp_substr(dump(t.rowid,10,9,1),'\d+$') as file#
      4       , t.*

I have tried, numerous scans of both hardrives, multiple updates, new USB cords, I have the most current version of itunes and yet I come to see no results, if you know anything please help me, I don't know what else to do.

  • Missing photo links - changing name of external Hard Drive location

I have searched for the answer to this high and low without success if someone can help...
I have a large collection of photos that I store on an external firewire hard drive (too many to store on my macbook pro). My iphoto library is on my Mac and when importing photos to iphoto I did not import the files so the originals remain on the external hard drive and are therefore linked to in iphoto.
I did it this way, rather than storing the library database on the external drive, so that I could access the information and thumbnails when travelling and not connected to my external drive.
I've upgraded my external hard drive and it will have a different name. I need to transfer all the photos across to the new hard drive.
Is there a quick way to reconnect all my original photos when transferred to the new hard drive or a better way to transfer them? Having tried to copy them across manually, obviously as expected I get a missing photo exclamation mark and am asked to browse to the file to relink. This is OK to reconnect one or two photos, but would take me forever with 17,000.
I remember Adobe Photo Album had a command reconnect missing files, and it would go off and search for the files you may have moved location (or changed the directory name in which they were held). Is such a function available in iphoto? I've tried the iphoto re-build functions, but this doesn't look in other attached volumes for the photos.
Alternatively, is there a way to edit the iphoto library database to do a search and replace of the Volume name to the new name and reconnect the link to then photos? e.g. Can you manually edit the albumdata.xml file (and would this be the file to edit) for example, and rebuild the database with Photo Library Manager?
Can you re-import all the photos from the new location, and rebuild the links that way, or does this create duplicate entries and not merge album, keyword event data etc for each photo?
My last resort is re-importing all the photos again, but of course I'd loose all my keywords, albums, events and other info I've spent a long time entering into iphoto.
    Thanks
    Phil

I just wanted to close this off to say that my solution worked fine and my iphoto libraries are up and running in perfect order again. And to summarise the solution so you don't have to read the entire post above.
This solution is for those wanting to have the iphoto library on your Mac and store the original photos linked elsewhere on an external / network drive (i.e. not imported into the iphoto library). Then you want to change the location where the originals are stored (say for example you get a new bigger external Hard Drive - like I did), and that new location will have a different name. Most people recommend importing the photos into the iphoto library, keeping everything together, and this can then be moved anywhere and accessed.
So to summarise, if you are moving original photos linked into iphoto:
    1. Back up everything you can first...
    2. First try moving the files (not copying and deleting) - the aliases may reconnect, especially if they are on your main HD. You may need to manually reconnect one file in each sub-directory.
    3. Move your photos to your external HD / network drive. Note if the new place has the same name as your old external HD then the aliases probably won't need to be fixed.
    4. Download and install File Buddy or similar Alias 'fixer'
    5. Go to your iphoto Library, right click, "Show Package Contents"
    6. Copy the "Originals" directory to another location so that file buddy can read it.
    7. Run File buddy, fixing the aliases in your copy of the Originals folder, pointing to where you've moved your photos too (restrict the directories as much as possible where you point file buddy to search for the missing files to speed it up). You will only have issues if you have multiple copies of the same file - i.e. that have the same file name and creation date, and file buddy will give you a list of these. This in itself is a good check to see you don't have the same file in two places - I only had issues with folders of photos that I'd been given from family in which there were multiple copies of the same photo. I've now cleaned these up, saved space and ran file buddy again to finish the job off.
    8. Finally, move this now fixed "Originals" folder back into your iphoto library (package contents) - writing over / replacing the original "Originals" directory.
All being well, should be fixed!
Just to share with you the benefits I find of having my photos stored on an external HD and the iphoto library on my Macbook:
-- Saves space on my limited internal HD
-- others can access the photos, set up and manage their own iphoto libraries pointing at the same originals, and we don't need two copies of the original files
-- I can access the iphoto library and manage albums, add keywords, titles, etc when not connected to the External HD, though you're limited to viewing the (not too small) thumbnail pictures iphoto stores in its library
I'm loving iphoto even more now, it makes managing and viewing my 1000's of photos a pleasure.
    Cheers
    Phil

  • External link to location in PDF not working

I can't get an external link to open to a specific place in a PDF.  I have tried the code for named destination and a page number and nothing is working.  I actually found some good documentation on line that should me all the parameters that could be passed, unfortunately, they aren't working.
Here are the ways I have test linking into the PDF:
    http://at3etfsn1.atlanta.ibm.com/crm/sheol/Marketing/MAT_DPP_ExercisesA.pdf#nameddest=LogO ut
    http://at3etfsn1.atlanta.ibm.com/crm/sheol/Marketing/MAT_DPP_ExercisesA.pdf#LogOut
    http://at3etfsn1.atlanta.ibm.com/crm/sheol/Marketing/MAT_DPP_ExercisesA.pdf#page=22
    http://at3etfsn1.atlanta.ibm.com/crm/sheol/Marketing/MAT_DPP_ExercisesA.pdf#22
The link is stored on a wiki... but I didn't think that would make a difference.  The PDF was created using Acrobat 9.0 from a Word document.  I have made sure that the document does not have any security.  Please let me know if you have any suggestions that might help me get this to work.
I know this is shocking, but I did actually read the documentation.  LogOut is a bookmark I made with no spaces in the name.  I'm not sure what else to try.  If you have some examples or suggestions please let me know.
    Thanks for your help.
    Take care.

The link was copied from a post I'd made to AUC from back in 2008; so, yes it can/does work.
    I've used PDF Open parameters with MSIE 5, 6, 7, & 8.
During use of any particular MSIE release I always keep it updated as MS rolls out the updates.
Used Adobe Reader 5, 6, 7, 8,  & 9 - each updated as Adobe rolled out the updates.
    Used Acrobat 5 (Full), Pro 6, 7, 8, 8 3D, 9 (Pro Extd).
Again, as updates are rolled out they are applied.
    Just checked again with:
MSIE 6 (fully updated) & Adobe Reader 9.3.2
    MSIE 8 (fully updated) & Acrobat 3D (8.2.2)
MSIE 8 (fully  updated) & Acrobat 9 Pro Extd (9.3.2)
For all, the open parameter performed as expected.
Source PDF's Initial View is page only.
Rendered in browser showing bookmarks and opened to the specified page.
As to MSIE add-ons; this varies with the MSIE release.
IE 6 shows less than IE 8.
Various threads at Acrobat User Community may be informative.
    For keyword search: "open parameters"
    For Author search: "daka630"
    At AUC Forum Search:
    http://www.acrobatusers.com/forums/aucbb/search.php
5th post to this thread has the link I used above as well as some others -
    http://www.acrobatusers.com/forums/aucbb/viewtopic.php?id=15061
n.b., tried the links you provided - nothing appears in the browser - same if I delete # and all subsequent characters after the file extension.
As to "installs" - basically, I run with the out-of-the-box installs; nothing "custom".
One thing that is common to the Adobe Reader/MSIE 6 & the various Acrobat/MSIE8 checks I just did is that for "Documents" in the Preferences the 'Open Setting' of "Restore last view settings when reopening documents" is not ticked.
-- just an end note here, open parameters have been around since at least Acrobat 4.x
    Be well...

  • Recording audio from an external synth - please help!

    Hi
I have an Alesis audio/midi firewire interface and a korg triton and in logic i have recorded the midi data and now need to record the audio into an audio track.
I solo the midi track and arm the audio track for recording, i have set the audio track for input 1 and when the midi notes are played the audio track responds so i know there is a signal but when i hit record, the midi track plays and the metronome sounds as it goes along but nothing is recorded!
Please could someone tell me what i am doing wrong??
    Thanks in advance
    Nick

So let me clarify what I think you are wanting to do. Are you wanting to control the External Synth with the MIDI data coming out of Logic and then running the audio from the Synth back into Logic as an audio track?

  • How to Load External Images - Please Help!

I have created a simple portfolio site. The buttons I created
trigger separate frames. Could I not create a MC (Movie Clip) on
each frame where the images now reside and then when the button is
clicked (On "Click' Goto frame 1) for e.g. then the image would be
loaded from an external folder named "Images" in my website?
I am stumped as to how to set this up. Could someone please
    help me?
    Thanks

Yes, you can do that. Which version of Flash and which
version of Actionscript are you using?
