When my camera is not activated, if I mildly shake my Lumia 930 I can hear a strange clicking sound on the upper part of the device, just arround the camera lense. Can it be the lenses just shaking, because when the camera is activated  that sound disappears.

Hi, Tomislav5. Welcome to Microsoft Mobile Community. How long have you been noticing this issue? Did you change any settings on the device that may cause this to happen? Make sure that the system apps on the device are all updated. You may check it by going to Store > ... > settings > check for updates. You may also try rebooting your phone by pressing and holding the volume down and the power keys at the same for 10-15 seconds and see if it makes any difference. you may need to set the date and the time after this operation. We'll wait for your response.

  • New iMac20, strange clicking sound

    Hi,
I have had my iMac 20" MB324RS/A for about 2 week, and from first day I have strange clicking sound like a clock "tick-tock" with 2-3 sec frequency. There is no dependence between this noise and CPU/HDD/CD load etc.
I now, somebody have a troubles like this, but only when display sleepeng. My iMac have this clicking every time after "Power On" regardless of OS was loading or not.
    Sorry for my English

Well... looks like any 5400rpm drive produces such a clicking sound, even though I've never heard it on a 15" PB 1.5 Ghz et al.. The new Hitachi HD isn't as bad as the other one (Toshiba), yet the sound is still very noticeable.
Guess I got to get used to it. On the Titanium PB, the fan kicks in when charging the battery for about 15 min, so a PB 12" with a clicking HD might not that bad.
Traded a yet jet engine for a movie projector, he he he.
The display doesn't look quite as good the TiBook's and it's got a fairly poor viewing angle, yet I knew that already. Besides that, you got to love the 12" PowerBook!!! There's a significant speed increase (1.5 Ghz 1.25 GB Ram, bigger, faster HD vs. 867 Mhz, 768 MB Ram) and - thanks to DesktopManager - the smaller screen is very usable for most tasks. It's much more portable than the 15" and the best of all, all my third party (PowerPC) menu items, preference panes, Latex installation, applications work perfectly. Cloned the TiBook HD and I was up and running within 2 h, thats how long it takes to copy 40GB via FW 400.
Let Apple roll out some great Intel machines and software developers universalize their apps. In the meantime, I'm carrying around a cute little PB. Buying a PowerPC Mac today is a reasonably choice, if you're like me and need to support a bunch of Macs around you. Software reliability is another key point. Joe Average might be tempted to get a fast Macbook though.
Who knows, maybe Apple comes up with a 12" PB replacement tomorrow, which is so good, I'll be kicking myself he he he. Wish list: HD screen (without any strange lines, of course), back-lit keyboard, thinner and lighter, Core Duo.

  • Windows 7 64bit doesn't recognize the USB External HDD Stor E art 3.5"

I purchase the External HDD Stor E art 3.5" and pass a few days the windows don't recognize the HDD. Try to connect the drive to other 2 USB ports and nothing happen. Use a USB pen drive to see if was a problem with the USB ports but all 3 are OK. Try it on the Asus notebook and windows 7 recognize the HDD. I formated the HDD in FS NTFS. In the disk managment don't show the external HDD. What can I do to resolve this problem?
My notebook is a Qosmio F60

One last thing you can do about that.
Install OS again using original Toshiba recovery image. After doing this you will have clean preinstalled OS and everything should work well again.
If the same will happen again you should contact nearest Toshiba service and try to clarify the situation.
I know it is pretty radical solution but, believe me, most effective to check notebook functionality.

  • FaceTime making strange clicking sound

    FaceTime making strange clicking sound
When FaceTime calls from my MacBook through my iPhone 5 work its a great feature. When it fails, extremely frustrating. I often experience a loud clicking sound when trying to place calls. I can be heard by the person I am calling but I can't hear them, only the clicking. Restarting worked for months to eliminate clickling which seemed to happen after using the headphone port now nothing seems to work predictably, even lost all sound from attempted calls today even after restarting although everything worked fine yesterday. Running MacBook Pro (13-inch, Late 2011) with OS 10.10.2 and an iPhone 5 with 8.1.3. Would love to see a permanent fix that includes the ability to see voicemail messages on my Mac.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • X220 Ultrabase external USB HDD strange click sounds on boot

I have X220 and Ultrabase 3. External USB HDD (WD Passport) is connect to one of Ultrabase USB ports. When I reboot and press F12 to get the boot menu there are two strange click (or scratch) noises coming out of the external HDD. One click before the menu appears and second after boot device (CD drive) is selected. I tried different HDD with the same result. It loooks like a short power drop or so but it happens with the boot menu only. The first external HDD I used for three years is damaged now, don't know whether it is connected with this issue. BIOS version 1.38, no USB 3 port. I found the issue is specific to Ultrabase USB ports. When the same external HDD is connected directly to notebook USB port, it is fine. I use the Ultrabase setup for booting from Acronis TrueImage bootable CD to create backups. Anyone has similar issue ? Is possible to use the notebook USB port when it is docked in Ultrabase ?

It could be that the port where it does not function may not be producing sufficient power for the given HDD.  It has been shown that all USB ports do not output the same power.  You might test with a USB 'Y' connector or a powered hub.
    Ciao.

  • External USB HDD Stor.E Basics Sleep Mode

    Hello to Everyone
Recently i bought Stor.E Basics 500GB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive to store my work archive (mainly .docx and .xls formats).
During my work after maybe 5 or 10 minutes my HDD goes in sleep mode and it takes a time to wake up my Drive and resave file. Is there any solution of my problem? I need to disable Sleep Mode.
A few things that i tried:
    1) I tried to use "Always On" profile in Power option from control panel
    2) turned Off "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" from Device Manager => all Usb Root Storage Devices.
    3) And also Disk management => Properties => Hardware => HDD => Policies => Optimize for performance.
    OS - Windows XP SP3.
    P.S. Sorry for my English.

  • 1st gen iMac G5 resurrecting from the dead? (strange clicking sounds)

I have a first gen iMac (pre-iSight) that I bought a few years ago brand new. But the past 8 months or so I've been having a very strange power problem where occasionaly pressing the power button does absolutely nothing... WAIT! I know you hear about this problem all the time but before you click 'back' I'll have you know I too have read countless of these types of power problems on forums, but this one seems different!
Sometimes after unplugging, waiting for a few minutes, then replugging the power supply (while all other cords disconnected) it'll all of the sudden turn on. I recently checked inside the computer as one tutorial suggested to see if the first of 4 LED lights turn on when plugged in, and it does, meaning it's not power supply failure. The biggest problem with the whole thing is that is that the "unplug-then-replug"(sometimes upwards of 15 times) doesn't always work, and always seems to happen at varying degrees of inactivity depending on how long the computer has been off.
I've been doing this for 8 months, afraid to turn my computer off not knowing for sure i'll get it back on (which can take up to a day sometimes). And my resurrection methods seem to be more and more futile, as today and yesterday i've had no luck. LASTLY -- and this really confuses me -- I usually hear a very faint but rapid clicking noise when I plug in the computer (before I even turn it on, never happens when it's actually on) after its been unplugged for a while. The sound seems to be coming from near the bottom of the computer, so I cant imagine that it's that dreaded "Hard-drive Death" symptom (since the hard drive isnt even running).
Please, if you can, offer me some insight regarding these issues, I've looked everywhere and it seems I'm the only one having them! I'm almost to the point of gasp! actually finally going to the apple store and paying them to fix it.....

Hmm, the fan? How would I go about checking that? I want to try everything I can.
DEVELOPMENT: I got the computer on last night (using it right now)! I think it was off for almost exactly 24 hours since the last time I had it running. The most frustrating thing is that I don't really know what I did differently to get it to boot up again. That whole day I was just checking it about every hour or two, unplugging and replugging the power (at one point I opened the back and tried pressing those two tiny buttons under the fan, one is an internal power switch, and the other some sort of reset button, nothing noticeable happened with either, although the clicking sound that occasionally showed up hasn't reared its head lately). I think my computer is almost at its end, and now that its on I'm going to try my best to keep it running. One more slip into a coma and it might not make it out...

  • External HDD StorE PA4096-1HF4 not detected in Windows 7

    External HDD Model: PA4096-1HF4
Type: StorE Art 640 GB, 3.5 inch, USB 2.0
    OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
The drive is not showing up in explorer (computer) or device manager or disk management.
    Only _*suggestion*_
I have found so far is to uninstall USB ports/hubs from the machine and then restarting the machine.
So far the USB ports are working fine - other devices e.g. mouse, pen drive etc. work properly when connected to those ports.
    I wish to know:
    1. Will uninstalling USB ports/hubs and restarting fix the problem?
    2. Is there an alternative and better solution available?
    Thank You.

Have you tested it on other computer with Win7 or with computer with other operating system?

  • IMac G5 wont turn on, strange clicking sound

Brought my iMac home from work (where it was working fine). Plugged it in and it wont turn on. I hear a strange clicking like sound and then that stops. Help!

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
You should try booting from the OS X install disc. Then open Disk Utility from the Utilities Menu (don't run the installer). I fear something has gone awry with your hard drive.
Let us know how you get on.

  • Macbook pro making strange click sound

    Hi.
I have a macbook pro from 2008 running os x 10.6.8 and it has recently started making a strange zapping sound from the speakers. I've searched the forum for answers but nothing seems to quite fit the bill. It seems to happen when I'm running safari although I haven't done a thorough check with which programs it does it. Also when I plug in my apogee duet interface it still makes the noise from my external speakers. I've done a check on the hard drive and it came out green so fingers crossed it's not that.
I'm not sure if it's consequential or not but I use logic a lot and I'm prone to using a lot of plugins son I'm used to the 'system too slow message' but now, often when the computer can't process it and it give me that message it comes with a loud pop aswell, something that never used to happen and I'm sure is not doing any good to my speakers. Sometimes the pop repeats intermittently until I play audio.
Please any help would be great, I've very worried as my beloved computer is getting old now and I can't afford a new one.
    Thank you.

You didn't get a new battery?  No way, was I going to leave the repair shop w/o  a new battery to replace the expanding one.
What did the AS say about the sounds you are hearing from your MBP?  Was diagnostics done?  If not, you need to get a second opinion from another AS or an AASP.  There is nothing anyone here can add.  Your MBP needs to be physically examined fully.

  • Mac OS freezes - strange clicking sound from hardrive

    Hey guys,
I recently had problem with starting my Tiger OS, therefore I decided to reinstall it after few disk checks (the hd appears to be good - at least this is what Disk utility says).
Of course the installation didnt go smoothly, or the way I imagined it to go, but I eventually managed to install Tiger on my Macbook.
Now I want to install some software updates, but my macbook freezes everytime I try do something, I can hear a strange clicking, I guess it might be my HD.
But my Windows partition works completly fine... is it possible that Mac's partition is somehow broken?

I had an iBook with a hard drive that failed to the point that it would not boot anymore. It would not even allow the installer CD to install a new OS onto it.
I put the drive in an external enclosure, plugged that into my MacBook, then on the MacBook run a program called Data Rescue II. With that I was able to recover everything that was on the failing iBook HD.
The reason for the HD failure was bad bearings. the bearing noise was extremely loud by the time all was said and done but Data Rescue II was still able to salvage everything.

  • Strange clicking sound at cold boot up!

After a prolonged tech supprt issue I reformatted the system drive on my new Mac Pro (three weeks old yesterday). Right after that I noticed a rapid "click-click-click" (three fast clicks grouped together--sounds like a relay switch)every three seconds during boot up when the machine is cold. This does not happen during restart or even when the machine is off for a few minutes. During the aforementioned tech support ordeal I had to do many restarts and force quits.
Today I counted twenty of these clicks at boot up. As soon as the machine is on the clicking stops and it seems to run fine. This sound only happens when the machine is cold.
In addition to the system drive I have three 750G Seagate Barracudas (new) in the remaining three bays.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Arthur

hm.....sort of difficult to determine off the bat.
id suggest taking out all the Seagate drives and just going with the OS drive on a cold boot. see if the click persists.
3-clicks sounds sort of like the the Optical Drive trying to read something ... but 22? that sounds like a bad drive on the verge of failing or has.
then if the problem isnt there with just the single OS drive, add each drive back one by one and determine if its one of the drives you removed or try each drive individually to rule out any possibilities (individually as in Just THAT drive plus the OS drive)
    goodluck

  • Strange clicking sound on MBA 1.8/64MB SSD

I got my MBA 1.8 / 64MB SSD today and it's great. The only really annoying thing is that after appx. one hour of usage a not very loud clicking sound started. It's a double click sound that repeats every 6 seconds. I tried to restart the MBA but the clicking sound remains. It seems to come from the right side of the MBA, near to the power switch.
Even though it's not very loud it gets very annoying since it is a repeating sound.
Does anybody know about this proble?

Hi everyone, this is my first post, yay! Anyways, I also am getting that weird clicking sound every few seconds and then it doesnt do it for a while. I have a 1.6/80 MBA and the clicking started last night. They occur one at a time at different time intervals, sometimes every 6 seconds, 15 seconds, I have even timed them over 2 minutes which is weird. I installed iStat Pro and the fan speed shows up fine, just under 2500RPM. I am guess its my harddrive...
On some occasions I have noticed while typing, I get a sudden lag followed by the click and it is all normal after that. Anyone having this issue on here? Thank you for any replies. I made a reservation for the genius bar, the sad part is that I just got this wonderful machine on Friday afternoon and today is Monday! Oh well, hopefully Apple can replace it for me.
