External LDAP problems after 5.4 - 9.0.4 migration

I've just completed a 5.4 - 9.0.4 migration without any errors being reported, but I am now having problems with my external user directory.
The setup is:
Standalone Calendar 9.0.4
Solaris
iPlanet directory server 5.1
There are several error codes associated with the problem, but unfortunately the documentation I have doesn't describe any of these (or of it does there is not enough info, or the suggested remedial action has not worked), there are no hits on these from technet, metalink, or these forums...
Any info on any of the following error codes greatly appreciated:
0x17401
0x132D5
0x13ABA
0x13ABB
0x18009
These appear in das.log and eng.log.
The iPlanet server logs show that the Calendar server is establishing a connection when it starts, and I have run UNIDSUP successfully to verify that the Calendar server thinks the directory server is up....
Any suggestions/ideas anyone???!!

Hi,
Please log a support TAR.
Thanks,
Lily

  • Serious external drive problems after installing Mavericks

OK, so now I am seeing multiple external drive problems. Here is my setup: A GTech 4TB drive connected to MacBook Pro via Firewire, formatted of 2 partitions of 2TB each (called GT1 and GT2). This is then daisy chained to two WD drives of 2TB each, called WD1 and WD2.
After installing Mavericks everything worked fine (in fact I have an amazing speed increase). However, after restarting my machine this morning I have the following issues:
The GTech is now a single partition called MyBook (obviously a hangover from the WD drives. I suspect the WD drive managment software) with NO data files. Interestingly it shows the following USED 1,106,870,272 bytes (1.11 GB on disk). This suggests that one of the partitions has disapeared completely.
Whilst WD 1 launces ok, WD 2 causes the Finder to relaunch whenever selected, meaning I can't get to the files. I remember having this problem before when I upgraded to SL, and it having something to do with hidden files that needed to be deleted via the terminal. However, I have searched the web and can't find the solution again.
Given that WD 1 and 2 are my backups of GT 1 and 2, then I now have a situation where I cannot access my primary or backup files for GT 2. Very impressive - not!
Can anbody remember the hidden file solution for the finder relaunch?
Can anybody help me get back my GT1 and 2 partitions (as they have the latest work on them)?

FIrewire & Thunder bolt drives are having issues with Mavericks, avoid same until a fix is issued if you can.
many are reporting same, there is a firewire fault and TB HD on external HD from LaCie (Seagate) and from WD especially.
    Technicians are looking into it.
Until there is resolution, consider setting up a USB ext. Time machine HD.
Until then consider confining Mavericks use with USB HD.
Ive tested a very long line of USB HD on Mavericks, all seem fine.
Recommend anyone DO NOT ATTACH any WD MyBook externals (firewire, thunderbolt or otherwise).
I dont have same to test, so I dont know if the problem is in the firmware on the SATA bridge or if its a problem with the WD software

  • External microphone problems after installing mavericks

I cannot seem to get my mac air to detect my external usb mic after installing mavericks. anyone else having this issue? guidance?

    Hi,
I am having this issue too. I'm using a Samson C01U, which I've had for years and working fine, now gets this when plugged in:
This is on a MBP (1 year old) running 10.9.2.

  • External display problem after 10.8.3 upgrade

After applying 10.8.3 Combo Updater, the external display would not wake up after the computer resume from sleep.
Mac: MBP Retina 13" Late 2012
    Display: Acer S230HL
    Connection: DisplayPort - DVI cable
    Please fix it Apple!

I have used an Acer S230Hl on three Makbook Pros via the VGA wire and a thunderbolt adapter. No problems at all with 10.6, 10.7. Worked perfectly.
With 10.8 the display would not wake up from sleep, most of the time. I found an annoying work around that helped maybe 70-80% of the time: unplug the VGA+adapter monitor feed, and then go to system preferences>>displays>>Color>>open the S230HL profile and then simply plug the monitor back in. I also delayed the sleep feature for 2 hours to prevent the problem, but it happens most of the tiem when I close the lid or put the machine to sleep manually.
Now with Maverick (10.9), even this elaborate this trick does not work. Why the loss in compatability Apple? I've called applecare twice and the techs have not been able to help--and now are not responding or calling me back. Having to reboot my mac 3-4x a day is a major problem. Anyone have ideas for me?

  • External monitor problem after Lion upgrade

    Hi,
I have a 20" iMac which has a screen resolution of 1680x1050(ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256 MB).  I have been using an additional 168x1050 monitor(Dell 2009W) in dual screen mode.  This was working fine with Leopard, Snow Leopard, but it does not work after I upgraded to Lion.  The screen appears to look fine for a few seconds then blanks out for a second and repeats.   The only way I can use my extra monitor is by reducing the resolution to  1360x768.
Does anyone know of a fix or if apple is working on a fix.   I called apple support, but all of their suggestion (fix disk permisions, reset PRam) did not help.
    Thanks for any help.
    Paul

Similar problem here with a 15" MacBook Pro purchased in late 2009. Connected to a new Dell ST2210 21.5" display via a DVI cable and Apple's mini display port to single link dvi adapter. The cable is dual link but seems to work fine the majority of the time.
When I wake my mac from sleep 1 time out of 3 I see black and white static on my external screen that only goes away when I unplug the screen or power it up and down.
I've tested another older MacBook Pro with the screen and everything works fine and when I connect with a different dvi cable I get the same issue.
When I called Apple support, they said it was a software issue and directed me to remove some .plist files in my library. I did what they said on the phone and it seemed to work for maybe 6 sleep cycles but the issue came back again. Since then I've reset the VRAM following their directions in a support article on the subject of external display static. (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377)
Does anyone know of a way to fix this or if Apple is actually listening? VGA works fine but I hate the quality of VGA compared to DVI. Should I look into getting an mini display port to dvi adapter from someone other than Apple?
It's annoying to have purchased a perfectly Mac compatible monitor which you really need, just to discover that Apple is having trouble with their mini display port...
Here's another guy with a similar issue and the same monitor (http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/peripherals/f/3529/t/19330464.aspx#1 9691738). However, from the research I've done, his conclusion about it being the monitor seems to be false, especially with all the complaints here about similar issues regardless of display model.
I need an answer that does not include going back to VGA. What are your suggestions? I do have HDMI but would rather not shell out the money for a cable and adapter...

  • External monitor problems after update

    Hello,
I'm having some difficulties with my external monitor.  I'm using a Phillips 22pfl4505d f7 and the Mini Display Port to VGA adapter.  My Mac is a Mid-2009 Macbook 13" Unibody 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3.  Now, ever since I updated to Lion I've been having some issues.  Sometimes (this isn't all the time) when I try to use my monitor, I keep getting a message on my monitor screen "Please change source resolution."  When I cycle through all the resolutions offered by system preferences, the only one that works is the 640x480 option.  Now I mentioned that this doesn't happen all the time, like yesterday everything worked just fine, but when I went to use it today, I keep getting that message.  I updated to Lion last week, and previously to Lion I never got this message and everything worked just fine all the time.  I took a peek at Console (not that I really know what I'm looking for) and kept seeing this error message "8/23/11 6:36:59.211 PM Console: kCGErrorIllegalArgument: CGSGetDisplayBounds: Invalid display 0x43000001" Any ideas about what I should do?
    Thanks
    G

Sorry please forgive me, I'm so exhausted I posted this in MacBook instead of MacBook Pro, I'll try to move it but if I can't I'll try to copy it and post in MacBook Pro, regardless I think there is a problem with the .11 update.
    Thanks, C

  • External display problem after 10.9.2 update

    Hello I have a Mac Book Pro 15" Mid 2012, OS X 10.5.8, 2.6 GHz i7, 8GB Ram, i have a 128 SSD (OCZ-VERTEX4 Media)
& a 750 HDD (APPLE HDD HTS727575A9E362 Media) in the optical drive, i have an external Led 1080p View Sonic VX2253 conected via thunderbolt HDMI adaptor, it was working fine until i installed the 10.9.2 update, now when i conect my display it becomes a the main display and the MB built in display becomes the secondary display, here some photos:
Anybody else with these problem, have some idea of the solution????
    Tks

Yes similar problem here: I have a MacBook Pro, 15 inch Retina, Mid 2012, and when I connect a secondary display via HDMI (and also HDMI-to-Thunderbolt) then the external monitor becomes the main display.
I have not figured out on  how to switch back to former settings. My guess: it's a bug. A quick search confirms that many others have secondary display issues since 10.9.2
(Steve would have fired those lazy punks, who failed to do sincere testing before release …)

  • LDAP problems after IP change

I changed my IP address for the LDAP server in accordance to the advice given here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1983263&#1983263
    [using command:
    sudo changeip /LDAPv3/127.0.0.1 212.212.123.45 212.212.35.5 ldap.example.com ldap.example.com
However, LDAP still does not work. [when attempting to authenticate, I just get the shaking Login screen]. The logs do not indicate anything useful to diagnose this problem.
As well, iChat (on another server) can not authenticate users to the OD Server (assuming the problem is the same for LDAP and authentication problems).
Can someone help me out as to where I went wrong and how to correct it?

I want to thank the guys at this post:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2404645&#2404645
Following these instructions (while a bit bumpy in my situation) fixed my LDAP. As such, I am marking this problem as solved... although, another problem crept up as a result... MD5 mail authentication now fails (Password works)... so, I will open a new thread in Mail section and mark this as answered.

  • Rmi problem after java1.4 to java1.5 migration

I have recently migrated one of my application module ( running on linux server )
    from jre1.4 to jre1.5_015
Now my rmid server is at java1.5 and rmi client at java1.4 ...
when i am trying to establish rmi connections from a single client i am able
to cater to around 25 requests per second .. But the moment i start sending requests
from another client simultaneously there's a drop in request rates that are being
    supported..
What i have noticed is that there are TCP connections in CLOSE_WAIT state..
and there is an increase in such connections as and when more packets are sent ...
i got the info. about TCP connections in CLOSE_WAIT via command..
    netstat -an | grep 1098
where 1098 is the port where rmi registry is running...
I would like to know if there are some changes in java rmi which is causing these connections
to take a longer time to establish and hence make my tcp connections go in CLOSE_WAIT state..

Disable your firewall/security software adn try again.

  • Aperture 3.5 + Mavericks external storage problems

Aperture 3.5 + Mavericks external storage problems
After upgrading to 3.5 and Mavericks, all my projects referencing files stored on NAS show blurry or black and not responding to edit commands. Sometimes Aperture crashes. The projects/photos were okay before upgrade. Also new projects on NAS show blurry or black or fail totally to import photos. If I move the same photos to the local drive, everything is just fine.
I am using NFS to access the NAS.
Reading through this forum I found some reports of similar behavior from people storing photos on USB external drives.
This seems to be only when referencing files located on an external drive. No problems if files are copied to the Aperture library.
    Any similar experience?

Referenced files on a NAS was always an gray area. While it worked for most users most of the time it wasn;t clear that Apple supported the configuration.
The Apple documents on Aperture and non-locally attached drives can be read in a number of different ways. Of course the library definitely had to be on a local drive (and even here some users reported success with the library on a NAS) but referenced masters were never explicitly mentioned either way.
Most users had success with the originals on a NAS but even with earlier version of Aperture and the OS there were always the occasional report of problems. When push-came-to -shove if moving the referenced originals to a local drive fixed the problems there wasn;t much else that could be done.
Since the release of 3.5 and Mavericks it does appear that referenced originals on a NAS do not work at all in most cases.  The best we can do here, being just users like yourself, is to suggest you contact Apple and try to get through to the Aperture team and see if you can get a definitive answer.
As for problems with referenced originals on locally connected drives, I'm not aware of any widespread problems. In the few cases I've seen it has come down to some issue with the OP's system.
Having your whole workflow and setup knocked out from under you like this is really bad, unfortunately there isn't much anyone here can do for this problem.
    regards

  • Problems after moving my iTunes library to an external hard drive.

Hello everyone. I recently followed the instructions in the Apple support article to move my iTunes library to an external drive. After completing all the steps in the article I consolidated my library on the new drive and verified that all of my files made it over to the new location. Then I deleted my music files from the old location and made sure, one more time, that my music and videos would still play through iTunes. Everything worked fine. The files in iTunes all referenced the new location. Then there was a problem...
The next morning I opened my iTunes and every song and video showed an exclamation point. None of them could find their files! I went into my iTunes preferences to confirm my setting were still good and found that my iTunes music folder had been changed back to its default location on my Mac hard drive! All the files are still located on my external drive where I consolidated them, but iTunes is trying to pull them from the default location.
    Why has this preference changed?
How can I fix what's happened?
And, how can I make sure this doesn't happen again?!
Thanks to anyone who wants to offer me some advice!
    Mike

I may have found an answer here:
    http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/moving-your-itunes-library-to -a-new-hard-drive
They only thing I can assume is that my external hard drive was slow to start and iTunes defaulted to its old directory (see the last paragraph at the link above). However, once my external was recognized shouldn't everything have fixed itself?

  • Serious problems after Mavericks installation with External Drive Lacie P9220.

Experiencing serious problems after Mavericks installation with External Drive Lacie P9220 1TB. Mac Finder totally locked!
I had to format the External hard drive with a Windows PC (fat32), then format again with my IMac (mac Journal.) and hopefully restored data from time machine backup.
So far so good but system looks unstable. Some software were not able to write on the hard drive. Some strange things happens. With Mountain Lion never had an even minor issue.
I read many discussion regarding problems with WD, just wondering if anyone had the same problems with Lacie and if there is any tip to solve the
    problem.
    Many thanks.
    Marco

Thanks very much for your reply.
Unfortunately I couldn't find a solution because the article refers to whom have configured the drive with included software and drivers that came with the drive.
This is not my case, I never used any third party soft ...only OS X disk utility ...
    best
