External Link Question

If I put a link to an external website in an InDesign document and then export the doc as an xfl file to work with in Flash, does the link still work? Or is this something that I would have to add in Flash?

also just to add there is a little over half a 160 gig lacie drive full of stuff. so i dont wanna do something that brings that whole mess over to the internal and renders my computer to paper weight status.

KM Search and External Link Question

Q1: I have created a Meta Data Properties for a Folder, so any document Created in this folder will require these data to be entered, I want to put a Filter Option on the this folder Iview where user can filter data on the basis on Meta data Property or Search document based on Multiple Meta Data Property using TREX or any other search.
Q2. If I create a External link to a document in KM folder, will TREX search in that document.

Hi Jagraj,
Q1: You have to define the Meta Property as Indexable than you can use TREX for searching for documents with the specific value of this property. Of cause you can as well filter the documents when displaying the content of the folder. In this case you have to implement a resource list filter.
Q2: TREX is able to index links as well.
The question is it you really mean External Links for referencing documents in KM folders because normaly you do this by an internal link. A external link in most cases is a reference outside the portal. Nevertheless see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/73/66c090acf611d5993700508b6b8b11/frameset.htm so you can see you can define a parameter indexContentOfExternalLink and you can define a parameter IndexInternalLinks. In this case the index will contain as well the content of the links.

Opening external link in a new browser window

Some of the external links in my web page need to open in
their own window, leaving my site still open in the background. Can
anyone tell me how to do this? I don't see an option anywhere when
I am creating these links.
The links are to, for example, "The City of ......", and
could be quite long to traverse. I don't want my visitors to have
to click their browser's back button who knows how many times to
get back to my site.

It's not valid in a Strict doctype, either HTML or XHTML.

How to perform an activity from an external link using PAPI?

The question is:
I've got an external web application that lists all the instances of a user's inbox.
On every item of the list, I've got a hyperlink. Through this link, I just want to perform the very interactive activity this instance requires.
(Just like the activity link in workspace. If the activity's task is a screen flow, the link will also perform that screen flow. All the difference is that it's an external link)

If you want to execute an screenflow from an external application the only way I know is with WAPI.
You can check the WAPI possibilities in your installation in /weabapps/workspace/wapi/urlActionsExample.jsp

CS3 - Design View not showing externally linked images

In CS3 Design View, externally linked images are not showing
up... i am only getting the place holder.
To prempt some questions:
1/ Links are correct and complete - apart from the fact that
they show up when previewing in the browser(s) - i have
crosschecked
2/ There are no spaces in the url
3/ In the 'View' menu, 'Display External Files' is checked
I had this problem before and escargo suggested saving and
rebooting. It worked then but strangely, today, that file is again
showing some of the externally linked images but not all. And on a
new file, created today, none of the externally linked images are
showing up... :(
I'm sure there's a simple solution to the problem... anyone
have any idea what it could be?

KM API : Creating External Link with Overwriting feature

I am using KM API to create an external link on a KM folder.
This is the code which I am using for it.

Now, in my case, there are chances that an external link with same name already residing in same folder. In this case I want my method to overwrite existing external link with the new one.
How to do it?

I think a lot of your questions can be assisted by checking out the help files under Media.
There are widgets available dealing with video and adding sound... the help files will give you the formats.
If you own copyright of the words and music, no problems from apple. Add a copyright notice to your page at a the smallest font!

Adding an Adobe Captivate 4 file with external links to Moodle

Hi - Does anyone know how to upload an adobe captivate 4 file so external links within the published adobe cp file open when playing in moodle? I have attached a wmv video that does not open. Also I have attached a swf Raptivity file that does not open.

The wvx file is only really a small text file containing something like this code:

It seems to just make Windows Media Player happier when loading wmv file for some reason. I had to resort to using this file at one client site running an IIS web server. You point your link in Captivate at the wvx file, which then loads the video. The wvx file can have quite a lot of other code inside it to do fancy stuff. But that's not essential.

my question is: while putting hyperlinks to external topics ,
the options where you choose to open the links in 'New window' or
'pop up window' becomes inactive. deos this mean I cannot open
external links in new windows or pop ups????

I think you may be mistaken on this. Moments ago I tested to be certain. I have a CHM that successfully opens another CHM.
I'm using Windows 7 64 bit.

Help With Movie That Continues to play when an External Link text button is clicked

I'm using Captivate 3.
I have a movie with Various Text Buttons one of my buttons in this particular module i'm creating when clicked opens an external PDF file for viewing.
However, my movie in the background keeps playing when i need it to stay on that Menu Screen with the various buttons.
Ideally so the user when done viewing the External PDF can then click another button to continue to the section in the movie where they need to go for the Software Demonstration.
Any Ideas on how to get it to stop??? I thought i had it working yesterday but today its not.. Its possible i removed a duplicate Pause or something?
*UPDATE - just went in to check the pause settings.. It PAUSES CORRECTLY if i Click the external Link button Once.. but if i click it again.. it reopens the link and then the demonstration starts playing in the background..

Export external links and store them through the package function

Is possibile to export external links (like www.xxxxxxxxx.com) like images, fonts, source files in general trough package function.
Or are there other ways to do it? We need to collect all links that we inserted in our application.

Overriding externally linked CSS

Hi there,
Hope someone has an easy solution to my problem. I need to have one externally linked stylesheet override certain style element within another (heading tags). Basically my resource has its own CSS but I have been told by the "managers" it needs to be put in a page with our resource branding applied to it (this is done via another external stylesheet).
One suggested solution from http://www.yourhtmlsource.com/stylesheets/advancedcss.html whereby the last imported stylesheet overrides the elements in the previosuly imported one. This doesn't work. Even putting "!important" next to the style descrptions within the CSS does not work (i think it only works when trying to ovveride inline styles).
Is there any quick solution to this other than me having to make custom classes for the heading tags (and a heck of a lot more work!)

Before you dismiss things like custom classes, here's another take on the topic: Put some kind of contextual id (if it's the Contact Us page, make the body ID "contactuspage", for example) on the body (or other enclosing container) of the page in question. Then you can make specific adjustments to the heading tags in question.
Say you have styled h1 for your entire site this way:
h1 {color: green; line-space: 1.5em;}
In use, you don't have to add anything at all to the h1 tag, anywhere and everywhere h1 will be green with line-space 1.5em.
On the "Contact Us" page, you want to style h1 in red with line-space 1em:
add an ID to the Contact Us page: <body id="contactuspage">
make a style:
#contactuspage h1 {color: red; line-space: 1em;}
Because this selector is more specific...it specifies that all h1 tags within the #contactuspage have this new style...it should work no matter where it is defined. Even if you redefined plain old h1 to blue, #contactuspage h1 will keep its red styling.
This will require you to add some kind of contextual id to some containing element on the pages you want to affect, but that's it...just create the styles in the style sheet, and you don't have to mess up the rest of your page markup.

External links suddenly open in a new window instead of a tab

I am using Nightly (20.0a1) on WIndows 8, I use the program Teamspeak 3 and it used to be that whenever I clicked on a link it would just open in a new tab in the Nightly window that was open, but now it opens a completely new Nightly window. I have the box ticked in settings, I've gone through all of the about:config things I've seen online and nothing works, I really have no idea what to do. I just did something with envoirenmental variables which didn't help (meant that it opened a whole new instance of Nightly whenever I clicked on an external link) so I deleted the variable. Anyone got any suggestions? If it is relevant, before this problem started I dragged a tab from one window of Nightly to another (think it might've been the cause of this), and yes, I've tried dragging tabs around from window to window to fix this and it didn't work.

How to force external links to open in new browser window/tab?

Greetings. I'm here because searching elsewhere kept coming up with references to javascript. I've created an interactive PDF with both internal and external links. It works just fine when viewed in either Acrobat or Reader. However, it is being downloaded to users' browsers and when they access the external URLs, the new sites replace the existing page in the same window.
Is there a simple way for me to include an action in the PDF prior to distribution that will force it to open external URLs in a new browser window or tab?
And for the record, I barely know how to spell Javascript, much less how to write or implement it. So if there is a simple solution, I hope you can also help walk me through the steps to implement it.

There are two issues here:
- How to do it using JS
- How to do it in a non-Adobe browser plugin
The first is pretty straight forward. You use a code like this, replacing the dummy URL with your own:
app.launchURL("http://www.example.com", true);
The second issue is more problematic, and in fact there isn't really a solution to it. If the plugin used supports this method then it will work, if not, then you're out of luck. Unfortunately, outside of the Adobe software I don't think that any other plugin supports it.
