External links to websites in IBA

Hi. Do Apple permitt using external links to my own and my partners websites? Or is it considered as advertising/marketing (and not allowed)? Thanks in advance!

I think a lot of your questions can be assisted by checking out the help files under Media.
There are widgets available dealing with video and adding sound... the help files will give you the formats.
If you own copyright of the words and music, no problems from apple. Add a copyright notice to your page at a the smallest font!
Spotify, not sure on Aple policy on that... insert a link test it and hope it gets past the review.

External Links on website not working

I am currently using Firefox 3.6.3. The problem is when users access my website and try clicking on external links. Often the browser will stall or act as though nothing was clicked. I have noticed that the performance of the browser varies day to day. The issue has been tested on IE with none of the issues that occurred on Firefox. On the bright side Internal links are working perfectly.

I'm sorry, but you are able to fix it without messing up the layout. You just need to have a better understanding of CSS and HTML. My eleven-year-old gets similarly frustrated when she can't figure out how to write a paragraph in her Language Arts class in school because what the teacher wants doesn't come naturally to her yet. But she's in school to learn and you are here to learn as well.
Dump the apDiv 1 through 9.
Remember that a div can contain another div.
You can position divs by using margin-left, margin-top, margin-right and so on.
Divs are rectangular spaces (that may expand with content) that hold stuff.
One way to plan these things is to do it on a piece of paper and place divs inside of divs until you have a layout. Come up with a name for each div and make your CSS do what you're trying to do.
If you are using floats, style them. Include margins and so on in classes like this (for a picture in your website):
.floatLeft {
 float: left;
 margin-right: 8px;
.floatRight {
 float: right;
 margin-left: 8px;
Additionally, if you are using floats in a div, you may need to clear the floats below them, to go from, say, a two-column look to a one-column look:
.clearfloat { /* this class should be placed on a div or break element and should be the final element before the close of a container that should fully contain a float */
 clear:both;
 height:0;
 font-size: 1px;
 line-height: 0px;
The HTML for a float thusly styled would be:

If you make a div class="floatLeft", you may need to clear the float, whereupon you do this in HTML:
 
That line break will take up no room and will clear you back to a one-column situation.

Help creating/updating external links

Hi,
I'm a newbie to DW8, previously most familiar with DW4. In
DW8, I cannot figure out how to create or update external links (to
websites), such that when I click on that text or image on my site,
an external webpage will open in the same (or new) window.
I read in the help section that in the 'edit link' section
I'm meant to enter the absolute URL. My problem is that it still
wants me to specify some local file or folder to find that link
within. This does not make any sense to me! There must be a really
simple way to right-click on any text on my site and create a
hyperlink to an external webpage?

Dreamweaver MX. There

Dreamweaver 8), is as follows:
1. Select the name/image you want to attack the link to
2. Drag the wheel on the 'Link' box (under 'Properties') to a

Business Catalyst | External Link | Hosting on BC | Original, "fake" URL | External website | Muse

Hi everyone,
I am hosting my Muse website at Business Catalyst. But of course I don´t want to my users to see where the site is hosted.
Thus my real URL is like: "www.mywebsite-businesscatalyst.com" but I made an adjustmend in my BC account so the URL which shows up in the browser is "www.mywebsite.com" (example)
Now – here comes my problem:
I want to have a link to an other website on my homepage.
When I click on the button, I am transferred to the other website, but the URL still shows "www.mywebsite.com"
But in this case I want it to show the real URL of the other website "www.theotherwebsite.com" (example)
Is this something I can change via Muse or via Buiness Catalyst?
Or can I change it at all, if I want to keep the settings with "my fake URL" www.mywebsite.com
I am so lost here!

Safari 6.0 external links bug

Hi,
I'm running ML 10.8.1 with all the updates. When I click on external links (eg: links in Mail), it opens safari, and navigates to the website in full screen mode. But, the Menu Bar, the Bookmarks Bar, and the Tabs bar are not accessible. Moving the cursor to the top of the screen does not show the Menu Bar, or the Tab Bar. The only way to get these back is to go back to another fullscreen App/Desktop, and then come back to Safari. This does not happen if a tab is already open in safari.

Can't confirm. Consider a conflict with some Safari extension or with some third party software.

External link opening in a loop

We have a requirement of adding an external link as a new area under the 'Overview' in the Home Page Framework for ESS.
I carried out the following steps -
- Create a z-resource for the url, in window name mention u2018_blanku2019. In the url path mention the url of the link to be called. Eg. Http://www.google.com.
- Create a z-area.
- Assign z-area to area group page (SAPDEFAULTESS_ERP2005).
- Create a z-subarea.
- Assign z-subarea to z-area.
- Create a z-service, mention u2018service typeu2019 as u2018direct URL launched in separate windowu2019.
- Assign z service to the z-subarea
- Go to content admin and do the following settings :
o create a new iview using the i-view template.
o Select template SAP WebDynpro i-view
o Select application type as u2018WD fo Javau2019.
o Enter application name as u2018sap.com/pcui_gp~xssutils/XssMenuAreau2019, namespace as u2018XssMenuAreau2019, and application parameter
as u2018sap.xss.menuarea=ZNEWAREA&sap.xss.menuargrp=SAPDEFAULTESS_ERP2005&sap.xss.menuhdr=SAPDEFAULTu2019
Where,
 sap.xss.menuarea will be the name of New Area you will create in SPRO,

o Create a WD proxy page and add the iview as a delta link to the page.

I have done these settings in both our sandbox portal as well as our development portal. The link is opening correctly in the sandbox portal.
However, the link is opening in a loop that takes us to u2018Overview' page over and over again in the development portal.
We are unable to point out the cause of this difference in behaviour between the two portals inspite of the same settings.
Any pointers on how we can rectify this issue will be appreciated.

Thank you very much for your help and valuable suggestion.
I've tried your suggestion but ran into some problems. The links I am trying to open in another window are actually PDF files that the viewer can download from my website.
Since I was having problems I decided to try something else. After publishing the website to my desktop I then opened the pages where the links are in Dreamweaver. The layout view is great and displayed the image just the way it appears on the browser's window. I first selected the "link button" to the file and then in the inspector windows (bottom of the page) I chose under target the "_blank" option. This tells the software that the linked page or file is to be opened in a new blank browser window. I then saved the page (re-saved it over the existing file) to incorporate the changes. After this I proceeded to navigate through the website and everything works great.
Thank you for your help and suggestions. I just thought I would post this here in case it may be of help to you as well as others.

Audio stops when external link clicked on?

I have a V/O audio file which read out eveything which is shown on a slide. Some of my slides have external links to either websites or PDF downloads and if they are clicked on while the audio is still going it will stop. Is there anyway of the user to still be able to click on external links and have the audio still play?

Can you please try the following steps to see if that work for you.
1     Insert the video/audio file that you have on the slide
2.    Then insert a button to the slide using which you can open a link or a file externally.
3.    Now on the button "Action" properties use the "open URL or file" option and then check the box "Continue playing the project" as shown in the image below:
4. Now publish the file and play it.

Flash Navigation Not Working (the swf works, but the external links don't)

I used Illustrator and Flash Catalyst to make a navigation bar for my website, but it's not working... I click links and nothing happens. I click one of the links to the sub-menu (the "careers" button and "advertising" button go to other menus) and those work fine, but the links themselves aren't working, even though they were when I first uploaded it...
I've double and triple checked, and they all have the right links associated with them in FC, so any ideas on what I should do to fix it?

Anyway, you click on the logo to bring the main menu back up if you're in a sub menu... But I've had to put text-based links above the navigation so that it wouldn't be a huge inconvenience while I'm trying to make it work.
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I figured it out... I was trying to use the navigation on multiple layers (sub-folders) of my site, but putting a full URL makes the external links NOT work
like "http://mydomain.com/file.swf" instead of just "file.swf" but when I changed it to NOT include my domain, it works great. ... SO, I did have to put a copy of the swf in each sub-folder, but that's ok, 'cause as long as it works, I'm good. I'm so excited.

How can I remove the eleven external links at the foot of the opening screen?

There are elevn external links at the foot of the startup screen. Some of these are to gaming or gambling sites and some are 'advertisments' for madasafish, my ISP. How can I get rid of these?

You can disable some browser.taskbar.*enable prefs on the about:config page.
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. 
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page. 
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold(user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu.

External Link Problems

The Website I am working on is created with a Flash header
and Flash Content pages pulled together with ASP. Normally when you
visit the site:

there is no issues but if you go to
http://llh-associates.com the
external links do not work. Does anyone know why this is or a work
around to fix it?
In Flash the ActionScript for the buttons is this, this is
for the extranet button in the header:

Some servers don't have redirecting from no subdomain to www
set up
so www.domain.com might not be the same as domain.com, but in
most cases it is.
Perhaps you should look into your server setting first.

Crawling/Indexing external links in CM-Repository

Hi all,
I would like to do the following:
- Create an external Link or a HTML site with external links in a CM-Repository.
- Create an index with a crawler, which crawls the
created links and HTML site and follows links on
external sites to a certain depth.
I used the standard crawler for this. But it had not the
desired effect: Only the HTML sites directly in
CM-Repository and behind the external links are crawled
but no links in these sites are recognized by the crawler
I adjuste the crawler parameters like:
- Maximum Depth: 10
- Follow Links (ticked)
- Follow Redirects on Web-Sites (ticked)
but it did not help!
I know it sounds like you could just say: "Use a
Web-Repository for this..." but I can not do this in
this context. Or is this the only repository manager
which is aware of following links?
Any help will be appreciated!

The reason why I did not want to use Web-Repositories for this was, that I could not find a documentation on how to create the necessary objects in KM programmatically.
(And I think it is not obvious from the documentation that you specifically need a Web-Repository for this!)
Is there a API to create a HTTP-System, WebSites and Web-Repositories which is documented?
I could not find any on SDN, but perhaps you or anybody else knows some resources?

Flash menu doesn't work after opening an external link.

Hi,
I have this problem - I made a simple website with a flash menu, that opens internal links in an iframe. However, I have a few other (not included in the menu) external links, which open in the same iframe. And after I click on one of them and it loads in the iframe, the buttons on the menu stop working. I'm beginning to think it has something to do with the internet explorer, since it works on some computers. But I'm not sure... not very good at this.
I've been searching for an answer here and there, but still haven't found anything. Please, help.

Here it is: http://kiss4eto.is.com/. Click on the Me button, for example. It should work. Then click on the "Addicted to Facebook" link on the right and after that try the Me button again. It doesn't work any more. At least on my computer.

Help in making 'Regulatory Speed Bumps' to External Links

A client of ours (small bank) requires an external link from their website to a 3rd party vendor. We need to create a speed bump to warn users that they are proceeding to a Third Party Site — or Decline with all of the requisite Behaviors. What is the simplest and most elegant way to accomplish this using Dreamweaver CS6?

My Links and External Links wont work on my page. Using Dreamweaver CS4

I have followed all the instructions for adding external links to my website using Dreamweaver CS 4. I cannot click on any of the links in the body of my pages, even on my sitemap page my internal links dont work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I have looked online for a resolution to this problem and not finding any new information.
