External Logitech Desktop microphone

Hi there...
My external microphone is not recognized by my Mac Book Pro for months now.
Logitech says my mac already has the driver.
Tried 'Pepair permissions'.
The green light is on my mic - but I can't choose it in Preferences...have to use internal microphone..
Any suggestions...?
Thanks Guttig

First of all, you should find a better application to record videos rather then using Hypercam. You can directly record videos using the programs I mentioned. Such as inserting audio into the video on the fly and more. It has to do with the application accessing the mic and another program open at the same time. Its such a mess to explain.

  • Logitech USB Microphone...I'm in a tunnel!!

Okay, my mother owns her own business and is looking to record a podcast so we went out to different stores in the area to purchase a good external microphone. We have a labtech, but it was a little flimsy in consitency. We found a Logitech USB "Desktop" microphone for $30 at a local retail store. We even asked the guy if this should satisfy our need when recording a podcast, and he said that it is probably the best choice.
Long story short. Plug in and play and change a couple of settings and it's ready to go...oops...spoke too soon. After recording in Garageband I play it back, and it sounds like I'm talking out of a tunnel, it has that type of echo. This is supposed to be a noise-cancelling microphone. Am I missing a setting, whats wrong? Plus when I record and playback in iMovie it works and sounds just fine.
    Help me please.
    Thanks

Hmmm, I had hoped there'd be an obvious missed step, but you did everything correctly. I happen to have the same model mic (AK5370 though mine is from Labtech. Same innards, though, apparently) and just tried it and it sounded fine. Nowhere near as good as a pro mic, of course, but not bad at all for speech. Did you check to make sure no effects are on for the track? An easy way to do this is to create a New Basic Track, this will have no preset effects turned on (many of the presets have effects that may affect things in a way not to your liking).
Try New Basic Track and let us know if it helps.

  • Logitech USB microphone does not work with OS 10.4.11

My logitech USB microphone was working fine, at one time. Now it does not function. In the sound prefs setup, it shows a level reading, as if it is hearing the input, but there is no output. I have tried every setting I could find in Audio Midi Setup as well, and nothing seems to work, and the "thru" option is not available. Can somebody help me here?

I have a macbook pro4.1 and the sound chip in it failed. My speakers and microphone no longer work. Does anyone know of an external speaker and microphone set that plugs into the USB port so I can continue to use both of these functions and not have to pay to have the entire main board replaced. Preferably something under $100.

I don't think you're likely to find a set of external speakers that come with a microphone and plug directly into a USB port. There are USB audio cards that look like tiny flash drives but have microphone and headphone ports in them, to which you can connect a typical two-plug Windows PC headset with a microphone, or else you can connect external speakers and a stand-alone microphone. Those adapters typically cost under $10. I don't know anything about the quality of sound that can be expected from them.
I have a Griffin iMic, which is much the same idea but larger, a bit more expensive (retail~$40), and perhaps delivers somewhat better sound quality (I hope so, but I don't know because I've never had occasion to try one of the little ones).

  • Can't drag files from external HD, Desktop

Can highlight and open items on my desktop, hard drive, external hard drive, dock, internet, and within programs, but can not drag a file at all from any (even can't drag a graphic from internet browser to my desktop. Isn't even showing the dragging highlight you get when dragging). Everything is just stuck where it's at. Can open folders, programs, etc...
Did I hit a combination of keys that created this? The mouse and keyboard seem to be working fine otherwise.

How are the EHD's formattted? I suspect they are formatted for WIndows machines in NFS, if I am correct they are operating correctly and cannot be written to. You may havee to reformat to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) which means yuo  will lose all data on them.
Please be complete and tell us more info about the drives.

  • Retina MBP isn't recognising external headset's microphone

I use a 13inch Retina MacBook Pro and I've got a pair of Razer Kraken Pro headsets that I want to use to skype with friends. The headsets use a 3.5mm jack for stereo audio and the microphone. In the sounds menu the only audio input is the built in mic, which is terrible when the fans are running loud, and the outputs are my headphones. As far as I know my Mac uses a combo jack like the iPhone. I've tested the mic on my iPhone 4S, an 09' iMac and an 11' MBA and it worked on all of them. Can anyone help me on this? Also please don't tell me to buy a USB headset.

I'm having the same problem: Dell 3007WFP -> Apple Dual Link DVI adapter -> Displayport -> new 15" Retina. It won't show resolutions just 'best resolution'. Applecare support initially told me that running an external display on the 15" retina (of any kind) is not supported while the lid is open, after some more runaround they suggested that I need to contact Nvidia for updated drivers, then finally that I need to take my 30" monitor and new laptop into an Apple store so the Genius could figure it out.
I did eventually get to a more Sr person who said he would file a bug report and said that in their call center they hadn't heard this issue yet -- but the day is young
Some data points that might help others:
       - I also have a 27" thunderbolt display, it works fine at full resolution with the retina's internal display open or closed (as expected).
       - I can use the thunderbolt and the DisplayPort adapter at the same time, with the retina display open (3 displays, what I expected when I ordered this thing) but the resolution on the 30" Dell display stays pinned at lo-res.
       - If I select 'scale to 1600x1000' the display turns to hash.
       - There is a thread on Macrumors.com about this same problem (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1387571 ); they suggest a utility called SwitchResX which I have yet to try.

  • External iphone 4 microphone

Is anyone with an iPhone 4 using an external microphone that they like?
I want something for making family videos, as the built-in mics are worthless if the subjects are more than a few feet away.
As far as I know, the Blue Mikey still does not work with the new iPhone 4.
    Thanks.

    Verizon iPhone 4

    Hello everyone,
I just found this topic which seems to be related to my problem.
Firstly, I do not own an iPhone 4 like you but a 3Gs (doesn't really matter I guess).
I also bought an adapter from kvconnection : http://www.kvconnection.com/product-p/km-iphone-mic-a22.htm
My wish is to make phone calls using a microphone connected to my computer. I have some kind of a home-studio, and I would like to build a dock on which I could plug my iPhone, with the upper jack connected to my soundcard, on which my mic or my computer sound comes.
In simpler terms, I'm trying to use an external audio source than my iphone microphone during calls. But this adapter i bought doesn't seem to work.
Have you guys a piece of advice or any solution ? Maybe just some compassion sharing the same problem =)
Good holidays to all of you!

  • Disable Logitech c920 microphone messages

I am using a Logitech c920 webcam that has a builtin microphone, using headset instead. I keep getting the same two messages whenever I log into skype.
    http://puu.sh/hu7iT/787773a271.png
    http://puu.sh/hu8iy/69e89475f5.png
I don't have a problem using the webcam, it works fine.  My problem is with the continual popup of these messages whenever I log into skype.
I have messed around in the settings a few times and nothing I do besides unplugging the thing stops these messages from popping up.
How do I disable these messages?

There are specific drivers for the C920 with VIsta. Download them: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/support/hd-pro-webcam-c920?section=downloads&bit=&osid=13
    Install them.
I have the C920 (it's a rockin' cam!) and it works with my Vista SP2 machine... BUT... I had to install the software from that link first.

  • Audio combojack to external low impedance microphone

Does anyone have a schematic so I can make a cable to connect a low impedance (Shure SM-58) microphone to the combojack on a Lenovo Thinkpad T420 and have windows7 recognize it and automatically switch to the external mic ? I already bought the 4-pole connector and XLR connector and shielded cable. Made up a cable and plugged it in but Windows7 does not switch to external mic. I see maybe I need a resistor to alter the impedance the combojack "sees". HELP !!! Please.

One possible option, you can down load '1-Click' for free from LaCie, the LaCie product Intego Backup Manager Pro, it is a comprehensive backup solution for Mac OS X, protecting you from data loss by systematically making copies of your documents, applications, and system files. Not only Mac version, if you move all audio files to rxternal drive by Intego Backup , you can use genie backup manager to read these files under Win32.

  • External clients desktop sharing fails

After reading through various articles and forum posts I am desperate enough to contribute my first post...
    The Problem:
We have successfully implemented a Lync 2010 infrastructure.
    Internal to Internal works perfect
Internal to external (or vice versa) works perfect except for desktop sharing (Audio /Video works perfect)
(with external being an internal user in an external network)
I tried to narrow down the problem and found the following issues:
23; reason="Call failed to establish due to a media connectivity failure when one endpoint is internal and the other is remote";CallerMediaDebug="application-sharing:ICEWarn=0x800029,LocalSite=192.168.18.105:5388,LocalMR=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:3478(public
    IP Adress from AV.xxx.de) ,RemoteSite=192.168.10.73:5378,RemoteMR=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:56119
    (public IP Adress from AV.xxx.de)
    ,PortRange=5350:5389,RemoteMRTCPPort=56119,LocalLocation=1,RemoteLocation=2,FederationType=0"
So basically a client connects from behind a NAT device to the external IP of the edge av interface and the internal client tries to connect to the same external ip?
Is that meant to be that way?
Second issue (or same issue but different perspective) same scenario(but network Sniffer on the firewall):
    request reaches FW:
    50.436292 port2 in Guest IP:35962 -> external AV Edge IP:59676: syn 2844552579
request routed through FW to the internal DMZ IP:
    50.436857 Lync-extern out Guest IP:35962 -> 172.16.13.204:59676: syn 2844552579
    session gets resetted:
    50.437046 Lync-extern in 172.16.13.204:59676 -> Guest IP:35962: rst 0 ack 2844552580
This repeats very often till both clients get a notice about "Network issuses.
On the Edge Server I did an netstat -oa and found Port 59676 to be listening (TCP)
I read so much in the last days that I am totally confused by now and I think the documentation on tech net is faulty somehow.
(at least regarding port 50.000 ->59.999)
Maybe the issue is DNS related (we got split DNS in place)?
Any thoughts helping me out would be appreciated!
    Thanks Gunni
    Who needs a signature?

    Hello Gunni,
please can you tell what is the vendor, model and firmware of your firewall? Are there any kind of "deep inspection" features enabled in the configuration of the firewall.
I am asking, as we have seen similar issues with an RST that seemed to come from the Lync Edge Server, but in fact the connection reset was done by the firewall. In the mentioned case the firewall is a Juniper, model SSG-5.
Two flow related settings activated in the configuration caused the issue, leading exactly to the ms-client-diagnostic: reason="Call failed to establish due to a media connectivity failure when one endpoint is internal and the other is remote"
“flow tcp-seq-check” -                  (TCP Sequence Check)
“flow tcp-syn-check” -                  (TCP SYNCRO Check)
Please check if your firewall has some similar or identical settings activated!
A lot of time, we investigated the Edge Server for any issues, - we even replaced it with a new one built from the scratch. Nothing helped, till we start looking closer at the firewall and disabled the settings mentioned above. I remember that we thought
the RST comes from the Lync Edge on the first look in NetworkMonitor and Wireshark. But when we started watching the Juniper reports, and comparing the time-stamps we realized that the connection was closed first by the firewall, not the Lync Server.
If your firewall offers a reporting feature (via webinterface, or SNMP, etc.) I recommend you to take a close look to check if the connection is closed here first.
    Thanks and greetings from Berlin,

  • SB live! external. logitech-z680.Spdif output and Optical output , but get only 2

    Hi there,
I buy now a SB li've external.i use? Spdif output and Optical output .But i get only 2. voice
i dont get 5+ voice with Spdif output and Optical output .
    I wait your help.

But to use the receiver's DAC's you'd have to lose the accuracy advantage of real digital (i.e. the "better" sound). When you convert non-AC3/DTS sound to AC3/DTS, the conversion involves "perceptual coding," which means they throw away stuff they don't think you can really hear so that the signal can be fit in the same space as a stereo digital signal.
    It's also a relati'vely compute-intensi've conversion, and not a simple process.
Now, are you sure really want to do that?
