External memory for Apple TV

I'm needing more memory space for Apple TV and would like to have my Apple TV run all my pictures and movies off my external Drobo. Can this be done, and if so how?

you can do that quite easily. everything in your iTunes library (incl. photos you tell it to via the TV's photo tab) can be streamed to the TV. iTunes must be running for streaming content, though.
you cannot swap the internal HD of the TV for a bigger one and you cannot connect an external HD to the TV's USB port.

  • External memory for macbook pro

I have bought an external memory for my mac and I saved there all my photos. Now when I try to connect to it, it says I cannot see my photos with iPhoto because I need another program to open those photos. It also says the photos are blocked and I need to unblock them someway.
Does anybody have some idea about this problem?
    Thank you.

External memory? No such thing  --  do you mean an external Hard Disk Drive?
If so it must be formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) to have the iphoto library on it - what format is yours?
And if you want help you have to give detains - what version of iPhoto? Is OS X 10.9.5 as you state correct for your OS? What format is the EHD? How is is connected to your Mac? How did you move the iPhoto library to it? What is the exact error message you get? What else can you tell us?

  • Does Apple sell memory for Apple iMac 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (21.5-inch - DDR3) Late 2009 anymore?

I have a 21.5-inch, late 2009 iMac (Apple iMac 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo [21.5-inch - DDR3]) and I need more memory for it. Currently, I have the standard 4GB memory for it (2X2). I wanted to know if Apple makes memory for my model iMac anymore. Thanks!

Buy your ram from either Crucial http://www.crucial.com or OWC http://eshop.macsales.com.
Apple probably still sells ram for your iMac but you'll pay twice the prince and get less for it.

  • Aperture library on external memory and Apple TV

Is it possible to have my Aperture library on an external memory and still use Apple TV to show the pictures on the TV screen?

It depends what you mean by external memory.
If your library is on an external drive and that drive is connected to your computer, and your computer is sharing with Apple TV via iTunes, then yes.
If you mean can you plug the external drive holding the library into the Apple TV and have it read the Aperture library, then it's no.

  • External memory for N900

Has anybody experimented with an additional 32GB SDHC card? Did it work?
I am just curious to find out if instead of using an additional 16GB, a 32GB can be used?

i currently am using a 16gb micro sdhc CLASS 8 card....yes class 8!  (btw, makes no difference in the handset, only when you are transfering data directly from the pc to the card with the SD adapter.  it is much faster that way.)
i asked my friend at sandisc (who WAS a testor of the mobile phones with the cards, what a boring job, all he did was take all the new handsets from the manufactures and put the cards in them and transfer data all day long then make note of what, if anything, happened to the data.  he did this until they out outsourced the entire divisions jobs to india, now is elsewhere in the company) who has tested a 32gb, even asked if one could "fall off the desk again"
all i got was a grin and negative nod!  :/

  • Hello, I have two questions on time capsule  I can only have it on my external hd files and free up my internal memory to my mac  I can use an external hard drive, in my case a lacie rugged as shared memory for my two computers

Hello, I have two questions on time capsule  I can only have it on my external hd files and free up my internal memory to my mac  I can use an external hard drive, in my case a lacie rugged as shared memory for my two computers

I have a mackbook pro and an iMac if I buy a time capsule 2tb airport, I can use it with time machine and what would be the best way to use it.
There is no particular setup required for TM.. both computers will create their own backup sparsebundle which is like a virtual disk.. Pondini explains the whole thing if you read the reference I gave you.
and how to use time capsule airport whit other external hd to use my old lacie airport with the new time capsule
Up to you.. you can plug the external drive into the TC and enjoy really slow file transfers or you can plug it into your computer and use it as external drive.. which is faster than the TC.. and TM can include it in the backup.
Again everything is explained in the reference.. you are not reading it.

  • Can I use an External hard drive and my computers hard drive for apple tv

Can I use an External hard drive and my computers hard drive for apple tv

If you mean to hold iTunes content to stream then the answer is yes.  Your iTunes library  folder and the media usually live in the same location, but media can be in a different or several different locations.  The external drive wuld have to e connected and powered to stream media to AppleTV.

  • HT3924 Can I use my 27"iMac late 2009 as an external display for a non apple product such as a cable box?

Can I use my 27"iMac late 2009 as an external display for a non apple product such as a cable box?

To get TV on your iMac off the cable box you would need to use an external TV tuner device such as the company ElGato is highly regarded for.  I have used one of their EyeTV products for many years with my iMac to watch television shows from my Comcasst cable TV box.  You can look at the models here:

Hi, does your MacBook have Firewire, or just USB?
FW is far faster if you have that.
    Avoid Bus powered ones.

Using Airport Express for External speakers and Apple TV.  When I'm on MAC computer adn using internet sound from Internet does not go through external speakers.  Instead it comes out of Mac computer speaker.  Why?

As far as I know, the Airport Express only transmits sounds via Itunes. So every other sound (internet, but also incoming mail) will be coming out of your mac instead of your external speakers.

  • I got an old Apple G5 shell from Goodwill. I'd like to salvage the Superdrive and use it as an external drive for my Apple laptop. Is this possible, and what cables would I need if so?

I got an old Apple G5 shell from Goodwill. I'd like to salvage the Superdrive and use it as an external drive for my Apple laptop. Is this possible, and what cables would I need if so?
    Other info is available:
    Superdrive MFG date: Sept 2009
    Model: DVR-118LBK DVD-R/RW Writer Unit
My Macbook is: Mid-2010, running Mavericks
    Thanks in advance, God bless!

That's a nice Pioneer DVD±RW drive - and an upgraded replacement for the original optical drive that shipped with that G5.  For a finished look, you'd want to install it in an external enclosure for 5.25" IDE/ATAPI drives that converts it to USB connectivity.  Because SATA optical drives have replaced ATAPI drives in recent years, the selection is getting more limited for a new enclosure, although used ones can undoubtedly be found at ebay.  Here's an example of one, although it only features USB connectivity.  You can also find enclosures that have both FireWire and USB connectivity, which for Mac users is beneficial.  Booting the computer (if needed) by a FireWire-connected device is generally more reliable than USB booting.  If this isn't important to you, then a USB-only enclosure would be adequate.  The enclosure will have directions, but essentially all you need to do is plug in the power cable and data ribbon cable and then secure the drive to the bottom plate of the enclosure with the included machine screws.

  • Automatic sync is only available for external memory?

Hi. I am using Windows Media Player 12 on Windows 7 with an 8 GB Clip+ fitted with a 32 GB memory card. The USB mode is set to MTP. I have set up automatic sync in WMP for the externeal memory. However the option to "Start sync when device connects" is greyed-out for internal memory. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks.

I'll leave matters to the sync gurus--I'm an old-fashioned drag-and-drop/copy-and-paste guy.
As to MTP mode--I agree with you, it sounds attractive.  But there can be glitches with it, unfortunately, including its renaming of files--yuck.  In contrast, MSC mode just works and is easy to use.  And pretty much everything that you can do with MTP mode can be done with MSC mode, apart from the play of DRM-protected files such as some library items (if you need that, stay with MTP--or, I guess, switch when you need it).
Recommended that you clean away whatever user files you have on your player placed there under MTP mode, set to MSC mode, and reload your content.  (Reason:  your computer can only see the files on your player that were put there under the USB mode that you are now connected to your player under.  Hence, a good reason to use a single USB mode and not switch, as well as not to use the "Auto" mode which indeed can switch between USB modes, without your knowledge.)
