External mic stopped working on my laptop

I was in the middle of recording music and then the  external microphone stopped working, this is the first time it has done this. And yes I have it plugged into the right jack I also have checked to make sure that it is unmuted, I thought that maybe somehow the driver unistalled itself so I got another driver and still nothing. But to be honest I have no idead what I am doing here people so please any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
P.S.
I have windows 7 and the model laptop is a satellite L505-ES5018

same problem as me, I accidently deleted my driver (one word, brownies)
Is there any way to get them back? Maybe a driver download by mirror if someone can assist us it would be greatly appreciated. thanks

  • External mic stopped working, but the built-in still does

Most likely during one of the recent runs of pacman -Syu, something changed causing the external mic to record some quiet static regardless of actual input. If unplugged, the built-in mic kicks in and records fine.
What can you guys recommend as steps for troubleshooting this? The mic works if I boot into Windows. Also tried running alsamixer and setting all volumes in Capture to max.
This is on a HP dv7t-6100 Quad laptop.
    Thanks,

Replace the SIM with a working SIM from the carrier.
If there are issues with the home button, take the device to Apple for evaluation.  All 5S's are still under warranty, unless they have suffered user damage.

  • Internal mic stopped working today, please help! C660 1F1

    Hey guys,
My laptop is a Satellite C660 1F1, and it runs Windows 7, 64bit version.
This afternoon, my internal mic stopped working. It was just fine this morning. Yet I can still hear people on Skype perfectly.
I've checked all my settings, and according to them, everything is just fine. But it isn't. The little green bar that shows received sound doesn't move at all. It only moves a tiny bit when I tap the mic with my finger.
I've reinstalled drivers, I have my settings adjusted for maximum mic usage, but it's just not working.
I don't know what else to do, and this mic is the only way I can contact my family right now. Someone, please help me!

  • Realtek Mic stopped working Please Help.

I'm on a Toshiba NB205-N325BN, Windows 7 Home Premium, Intel Atom processor N280 o 1.66GHz, 512KB L2 Cache, 667MHz FSB Mobile Intel® 945GSE Express Chipset. Audio Driver is  a Realtek High Definition Audio driver version 6.0.1.5904
My internal mic stopped working. I'm not sure how long it hasn't been since I don't use it all the time, but when I went to use skype last night I found that the mic wouldn't work with anything even the sound recorder program in the accessories folder. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, but to no success. I figured I give this forum ago to see if any one could help otherwise I'll have to call the Toshiba support line or do a clean install of windows (which I do not want to do at this time.)

I actually got in contact with Realtek's support via e-mail, and they sent me a program to install that will let them check their devices that are on the machine. After I ran the scan this is the conversation that we had:
Realtek: "We found you had plugged a external mic to microphone jack. Have you tried to unplug external mic and then check the built in mic ?"
Me: "I don't own an external mic, but I did plug in my headphones into the mic port by accident recently maybe that was it? I don't have anything plugged in right now and it's not working."
Realtek: "Please try to dump audio info again(run the scan again) during recording interanl mic sound."
After I ran the scan again they sent me these instructions, and I'm kind of confused on what he means (I think the support is in Asia somewhere and they are translating each message at a time.)
Realtek: "We tried to check it with TOSHIBA. Your machine supports audio prower download feature after audio idle status. You can try to turn off this function on the Power Manager Page of Realtek HD Audio Manageer. Or you can try to plug headphone jack to keep audio power up state .
Can anyone help me understand that last part? I went to the Audio Manager and I didn't see a Power Manager page anywhere! Does "Or you can try to plug headphone jack to keep audio power up state." Mean that it might start working if I try to use it with headphones?

  • Satellite L300-2CL - built in mic stopped working

    Hello
When I bought this computer (sep-09) everything was working fine. Then in march (I hade it idle for awhile), my built in mic stopped working.
Everything eles is working fina, and I have scanned the web for solutions, and tried to install new drivers, unistall them, boots everything possible, disabel and rebooting, but at most I just get a static sound from my test recordings.
I am using win 7 home pre, but the issues started when I was using Vista. Now I am out of ideas, and my friends on Skype grows tired of not hearing me.
Is there anything I can do to get the mic work, or should I just buy a headset?
    Greatful for help
    Hugo

    Hi
Sounds a little bit like an mic hardware issue but you should also check the internal mic settings in control panel -> sound.
There you will see the Recording tab.
Here you should mark the internal mic and should check the properties.
Set all volume controllers to max.
Choose internal mic as standard device.
In Playback tab choose speakers -> properties.
There you will see the level tab. Here you should set the microphone to 100 and should check if its not disabled too.

  • External Speaker stopped working - get sound through headset

I have a Zire 72.  The external speaker stopped working.  If I listen to music or voice memos through a headset, I can hear the message so the programs are working.  I have tried a soft reset but no results.  Has anyone had this expierience?  Sounds and alerts all set to high in preferences.
    Thanks.
    Post relates to: Zire 72

The speaker cutoff switch may be stuck in the headset jack.
    Try this procedure.
Turn the Z72 off. Get a non-conductive electrical contact cleaner (Home Depot has this in the electrical dept.)
Spray a few drops on the headset plug.
Insert and remove the plug in the headphone jack 5-10 times.
Wait several minutes for the cleaner to dry.
Power on the Z72 and see if the speaker works. If not, try the procedure again.

  • External speakers stopped working when Yosemiti was down loaded

My external speakers stopped working when I downloaded Yosemiti! how can I remedy this?

Dunno what it has to do with Yosemite, but:  press the alt/option key, while clicking on the speaker icon at the right hand top of your screen. This will show you all the sound inputs and outputs for your mac. Ensure that it is set to "Line Out" or "Digital out" (depending on your speaker's capabilities. Hopefully
    that works

  • External Speakers stopped working on Imac

External speakers stopped working.   Verified speakers operating with Iphone.   Checked that speakers plugged in correctly.   Tried usual power cycling step.   External speakers do not show up in sound preferences.    Anyone with any advice?
    Thanks,

If you unplug the speakers to the internal speakers work OK? If not try  resetting the system PRAM see Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
If they still don't work or if the internal works OK then look into the speaker plug. Do you see a red light? There is a switch inside the plug that detects the presents of a  jack and sometimes it gets stuck or breaks entirely.
You could try gently using a non-conductive device (a toothpick is good) probing inside the plug to see if you can free the switch. Of course this could be harmful if done incorrectly. If the system is still under warranty you might want to take it to have it looked at.

  • Left external speaker stopped working

Left external speaker stopped working, right works fine. When I connect headphones, they work fine. Have tried two different sets of speakers, deleted plists and reset pram. Please help!

Hmm. I think its not a sound card and its not a speaker problem because both parts (left speaker and sound card) seems to be ok as you have posted in your message.
Im not quite sure what could be wrong but possibly this issue has something to do with the headphone jack there is a tiny switch inside the headphone jack which enables and disables the speakers if the headphone jack has been plugged.
Maybe this switch does not work properly.
What to say in such case the hardware needs to be replaced but in most cases the headphone jack is a part of the motherboard and in such case the whole mobo needs to be replaced and I think this is not worth because of the high parts costs

  • Wine makes mic stop working.

A bit of a niche problem. But my mic stops working in linux apps when my wine game application is started. Closing the wine application makes the mic work again.
It's an inboard mic. I don't use the sound from the wine application so I don't need to preserve that functionallity. I just want my linux apps working.
My music programs work. (Output is fine just not input). And I couldn't see anything relevant in the wine configuration. If you need any more info just ask.
Tried in mumble skype teamspeak. It's all the same. Thanks.

    Anybody?

  • IPhone 5 mic stopped working

I got my iPhone 11.01 (2 days ago GTM +1) and 12.11 lately 5pm the mic stopped working.
It works when i record movie, and when using siri. But it does not work when i am trying to record voice, or trying to call someone.
    Please help me

I had the same issue. I noticed people couldn't hear me when I called them over the phone all of a sudden one night. So I tested the microphone using the voice memo app to see if it was a hardware issue vs a carrier issue. Looks to be a hardware issue. HOWEVER, on incoming calls, the microphone seems to work fine. And after using another phone to call myself to test, my next outgoing call was fine!  I think I might still run by the Apple Store and have someone look at it. Here's a video of the microphone not working even though it works fine again now.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8iduofHMAk

Apparently I'm not the only one?
Seems like a pretty silly problem. Having a TOM address above 4Gb blow the driver's mind?

: No, you're not the only one. As you can see <a rel="nofollow" href="http://forums.creative.com/t5/Windows-7/Audigy-2-ZS-with-Windows-7-64-Bit-and-more-than-4GB-of-RAM/td-p/53795;jsessionid=A339FB657638D20C9FF346FC283A37]here[/url].

  • CX623 external monitor stopped working

    Hello everyone,
we have a CX623 which has worked fine for years.   This week the external DELL monitor stopped working.  It just goes into power save mode.
The monitor and cable work if plugged into a different laptop.
A different monitor which is ok doesn't work when plugged into the CX623.
So it's 100% an issue with the laptop.   Pressing Fn+F2 to change the monitor configuration doesn't resolve the issue.
The laptop does recognise the monitor and correctly names it in the display resolution settings.
    Any suggestions please?

That really sounds strange....most likely it's something internal to the notebook. And honestly, there probably isn't any easy way to fix it other than replacing the motherboard.

  • Imac's Sound and Mic stopped working!

Last night my Imac's sound stopped working. Internal speakers don't work, plugging in external speakers don't work. I thought this was just a hardware problem, but my internal mic also doesn't work, which is on the other side of the computer....
I've rebooted many times, cleared the pram, checked my preferences, played with the audio midi controls, plugged and unplugged the cord in the line out and did everything besides dance around the mac singing.
Any suggestions on how or why this would just stop working? It has to be something i'm missing, some setting.
I've downloaded Line In, didnt do anything. I downloaded Sunflower, didn't do anything.
The only thing I can think of is I just loaded Parallels and Win XP, but I just uninstalled it and still no solution.
    Help please!!

ok let me help you with this process, go to the system preferences in your OSX go to the icon Sound click on it internal volume should be all the way up or mid high up Output volume either all the way up or mid way up thats in the input tab on the top. Now the output tab should the balance should be in the middle and output volume should be mid or all the way up . If that is not the case then there could be a hardware problem which I doubt because when the computer is off it creates a connection from line in to line out.
