External Microphone in Windows 7 64bit

I have a MacBook Pro 15 MD104 with Mountain Lion. I'm also install Windows7 64bit Enterprise using Boot Camp. I'm download latest Sound Card driver with Boot Camp and install it (and all other devices driwer). Macbook has a one audio socket to combined 3.5 jack (input and output in one jack). I  buy Razer Kraken Pro Headset specially for it, because it have this combined jack.
My problem is that in Windows, when i plug my headset in windows, it works only as headphones, microphone don't recognize and uses internal microphone of MacBook. In MacOS there is no problem and all works great. I think, that problem is in Boot Camp sound card driver. I try to download another, but i can't google it. Sound Card model is Cirrus Logic CS4206B (AB 83). There is no driver on cirrus site. What can I do with it?

I am not sure who else reads this but I got my mike working with Skype. I uninstalled the Cirrus driver (something AR77) and installed from the Apple OSX CD Bootcamp drivers the one with Cirrus for XP. Then I got the Cirrus High End device (not the other version) and voila.
Note, I started installing the Realtek on it first, also on CD, which helped my bro. But then this was the best approach.
I think: a) it is a driver issue for the built-in microphone b) Win 7 is like Vista, really, looks the same, feels the same, does not work the same (but I need it to get a Windows project done and evaluate). c) if Apple made a contract with the business application (the biggest) I work with I would no longer need Windows on it. Not for office, not for applications. Apple? Would you start aSAP negitiations?

  • External Microphone in Windows on MBP

    Hi guys,
I see this problem has been posted on the form a couple of years back but don't seem can find a solution. I'm just wondering if this has been sorted now.
I have a MBP 2011 mid model. It recognise the iphone microphone when it is under OS. However, when it is in Win 7, it seems only picking up sound by the internal microphone. It was fine using the internal microphone until the machine get heated and the cooling fan gets too noisy and the microphone picks up all the noise since it is located just above the fan.
I had to use windows as the particular software I'm using doesn't have a mac version. I tried to use virtual windows under OS but it gets so slow I could hardly do anything under it.
The most up-to-date boot camp drivers are correctly installed for Win 7.
Any one have this sorted? If I can get my MBP pick up an external microphone in Windows (doesn't matter which version)?
    With many thanks

I visited the Louisville, KY Apple store today and discussed this question with Lonnie, a lead creative there.  He says he is familiar with Fusion and that what Doc wants to do is no problem.  Naturally, it shouldn't be, but ... like Doc A, after 30 years+ working with PCs, things are often not what they should be.
Doc - did you try this, and did it work?
Has anyone else out there tried this with a Retina MBP with at least 8gb of RAM and Fusion running at least 2 different VMs, each pinned to a different external monitor (with OSX on the Retina in the middle)?
If you did, was it with straight Thunderbolt monitors, or did you use older monitors and adapters?
BONUS POINTS: Was one of your VMs some version of Linux, by any chance?
Do you have ML OSX or some older version?
Did it work out of the box, or with issues that you had to get help on?
    Your answers are much appreciated!

I'm running on Windows 7 Ultimate.

heheheh... Sorry, I was wrong! I switched the mic switch to the off rather than on!!
The "on" word should appear when you switch it, not disappear.

    HP probook 6550b.  Windows 7 Pro SP1 64bit.
Sound works without any problems but my microphone suddenly stops working today.
Usually i use my internal microphone.
I tried to plug in one of my external microphones to mic jack and it also doesnot working. I check my 2 external microphones on other PC and they both are woking properly.
    1) Nothing new was installed today.
    2) To fix this i tried to swich in sound properties default device but i dont see any green volume level behind mic images for both.
    3) I removed all audio drivers
    4) After PC was restarted windows installed default drivers but i still cannot record any sound. (Checked in skype and by green record level indicator in sound properties)
    5) Also for default windows drivers i tried to switch my default microphone in 'sound' window settings and also plug in and out my external mics and without results.
Screen shot of windows after default windows drivers was installed:
    What it can be?
    Thanks.

First question, i would answer yes :
About this mac >Materiel > Audio (intégré) > audio haute définition Intel > microphone interne > connexion interne
    Second question :
in system preference > microphone interne  is black and not grey.
bars "sound test" near menu "entry level" does not move at all even if I shout...
    Third question :
The power supply has been totaly replaced by a new one.
    4rth :
Yes, no problem with speakers integrated or with the one of the headset...
On skype : i Hear but can not speak.
(i tested the headset on a PC, it works)

    Hey coolasc,
If you had a lot of updates come through, you'll want to make sure that BIOS was one of them.
BIOS stands for Basic Input/Output System/Service. It is the language that all of the hardware components in your computer use to communicate with each other. There are updates which come out periodically for it so it would be best to have the latest version. The following steps were taken from here.
Windows 8: From the Start screen, type "msinfo32". Click msinfo32 from the list of results.
Windows 7&Vista: Click the Start button, type "msinfo32". Click msinfo32.exe from the list of results.
About halfway down on the right, look for BIOS Version/Date.
    3. Copy and paste the information to the right of BIOS Version/Date in the value column, into your reply.
The latest version on the HP Drive Page for your particular notebook is F.66. It could be that a lot of updates other than BIOS came through and BIOS just hasn't come through quite yet (if this is the case, it would be fine to manually install the latest version). If you have a version higher than F.66 by some chance, go back to F.66 by just downloading and installing it.
The BIOS being out-of-date or just out of sync with the other updates that came through, could definitely cause an issue like this.
Please let me know if you have any questions or if these suggestions helped (this could help others with the same issue). I'll keep an eye out for your reply!

  • External microphone

I can't get an external microphone to work on my HP Pavillion dv7 laptop.  I have read through most of the posts and nothing has helped.  However, I haven't seen anyone who has had my exact experience.  When I plug in either of two external microphones, one a single mike and the other connected to a headset, I can record but it is recording with the built-in microphone, not recognizing that anything is plugged in.  The reason I am sure of this is because if I tap lightly on the mike, there is little or no reponse on the vertical bars in the Sound Recorder program.  But if I gently tap with my fingernail anywhere on the computer frame, the bars light up right to the top.  Help anyone?  Thanx.

  • EXTERNAL microphone not working on T61, Colleagues with T61s having same problem

I am unable to get any external micophone to work with my T61.  A colleague of mine spent hours with Lenovo support trying to get his to work but was never able to.  The internal microphone works but the quality is low.  I have tried several external microphones (3).  I verified the external microphones work with other systems.
As for drivers, here is what I have tried so far:
    SoundMAX driver uninstall
Installed Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for HD Audio
Installed SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio driver (5.10.1.5520)
None of this made any difference.  When I plug in an external mic, all applications, including the SoundMAX Control Panel > Microphone >  Setup Wizard, detect zero sound from the external microphone.  I have muted/unmuted the external microphone, muted/unmuted the microphone in Windows, boosted/decreased the volume, used the Microsoft microphone troubleshooting wizard, etc., etc.
Please help!  Using an external microphone is very important for my work (speech recognition) and for several of my colleagues.  If we would have known external microphone do not work with T61s, my company would not have purchased these.  Now we are all stuck until we get new laptops again (2 more years)!
P.S. One strange thing I noticed while plugging and unplugging is that if I plug in headphones to the external microphone jack, one of the headphones (R, I think) becomes an "external microphone."  The quality is terrible but applications register sounds coming through the external headphones.  Why then have none of the 3 different external microphones I've plugged into the mic jack worked?!?!
    System:
SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio (Driver 5.10.1.5520, Location 65535, C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\ADIHdAud.sys is 5.10.01.5520)
Windows XP Pro Version 2002 SP2
    Intel Core2 Duo CPU
    T7300 @ 2.00GHz
    2.99 GB of RAM

I am having this same problem and am also using voice recognition software.  Have you found a resolution yet to this problem?  I have not.  Please share if you have.
    Thanks!

  • External iSight and Windows Vista

Did some searching on this and it seems like a lot of people are having troubles. I got it working without much hassle so thought I'd share. First of all, I'm not using BootCamp, Parallels, or any such thing. Just Windows.
When I plug in the iSight, it's recognized as an "AppleComputerInc. iSight" and 2 unidentified devices. I'm guessing at least one of those is the audio. Maybe both since it's stereo audio I think.
It will try and fail to find drivers for all 3 devices.
Go into the Device Manager (right click on Computer, choose Manage and then click Device Manager in the left side of the Management Console.)
Right click the iSight (not the unidentified devices) and select Update Driver Software.
Tell it you want to browse your computer to select the device, and then on the next screen say you want to select from a list of device drivers.
Make sure you uncheck the box to show compatible devices only.
Select Generic as the manufacturer and Generic 1394 Desktop Camera as the model.
That's it. You'll need to turn the brightness way down in whatever application you're going to use, but otherwise it seems to work okay.

    Thanks your microphone info, miken32
Including your up-to-the-minute info, I have still not yet seen a report of any successful use of iSight's Firewire connected microphone with Windows.
If your linked driver works, someone will surely let us know.

    I have a RCN-PX30t-A-119 - Qosmio PX30t-A-119 23" Touchscreen All in One PC Core i3-3120M 8GB RAM 1TB HDD
Everytime I try and configure my external Microphone i'm getting the message 'Windows Shell Common DLL has stopped working' and the Microphone doesn't work. Can anyone help me fix this?

According to different information which I found in internet, such error and similar notification appears because the system is screwed up.
Start the command prompt and then Run as Administrator
Then type the command: *sfc /scannow* and press Enter.
If this does not help, uninstall the sound driver.
Reboot the notebook and then install the sound driver again (should download the proper driver from Toshiba driver page)

  • There is an external microphone input on my notebook?

    Hi!
I'm not sure this is the right section where I can post this question.
Anyway: I bought a pair of headphones with a microphone to use on my ENVY m6, but when I tried to find the input for the external microphone jack... I dind't find it.
I tried to plug them both in the headphones jack with a '2 to 1' jack converter but the microphone still didn't work.
There's a solution or just I can't connect an external microphone to my notebook?
Thank you so much and sorry for my bad english.

    Hi @EllieInTheSky ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP ENVY m6 Notebook and issues with the microphone headset. Here is a link to troubleshoot the headset and microphone. Your notebook supports a plug in stereo headphone combo jack.
    What make is the headset?
Press the Windows key, type microphone, under settings you will see setup a microphone. It will bring a wizard up and you just select which one you have.
    Hope this helps.
