External midi interface connection. Please HELP!!!!
Hi,
I just got the iMac 20 inch widescreen, primaritly for use in my recording studio.
I have tried on three different occasions, to install an external midi interface (MOTU Micro Lite), but it is not recognised in the system's midi set up window, and it's driving me nuts! Can someone please tell me what to do. Maybe I'm not getting some things properly set up before the installation.
The MOTU installation cd says it is compatible with Mac OS X operating system.

Logic External Midi Change. Please Help
In Logic 8. You used to be able to open up JUST an external midi track and hear audio from your external midi track. Now you need to open up an audio track and have it on listen with your external midi armed! verry annoying. This hinders my work flow a little bit. As I said previously, if you are using the External Synth multi-timbrally, the External Instrument plugin will probably NOT be of any help. (The plugin routes MIDI out a particular channel and returns the audio via a pair of inputs. Unless you have multiple outs from the synth, and multiple Ins available on your interface, you will end up with all the audio from the synth appearing on all the tracks simultaneously... not good.
If you are not using direct monitoring via your interface (as mentioned by pancenter), simply create an Aux channel for your synth audio return, and you are good to go.
As best I recall, no version of Logic has ever done this automatically.

While 10.2 might help, there's not much you can do on the Internet these days with less than 10.4.11

My PC computer was wiped (virus) including itunes. How do I transfer the many playlists and music on my ipod to the new re-installed itunes?? Ipod is synced to old itunes. I have all original music files on external hard drive. Please help?
New itunes is trying to wipe the ipod. But have many many playlists (many hours making) which I want to save. Any help would be appreciated.If you want to just extract the playlists from your iPod, plug it in iTunes. When it appears under devices, right->click on it and choose Export Playlists. Save them to a location such as your desktop and them import them into your library once you have copied and imported all of your music back into it.

MY MIDI WONT WORK, PLEASE HELP ME
So i have a Kawai M8000 and using it as a midi to run through logic. It has worked fine for a few months and now decided to stop. I have a midi cable the has a usb on one end then 2 midi cables on the other one says in, and one says out. I plugged the In into the out then the out into the in. It wont work in garageband either and im getting absolute no signal in logic. PLEASE HELP IT'S DRIVING ME INSANE!

If I remember correctly, some of these interfaces are labelled 'strangely': the IN cable goes to the IN socket, the OUT to the OUT socket (and not the other way round as one might expect).
Quick to test: swap the cables round.

I'm trying to build a chat server in Java on Linux OS.I've created basically 2 classes in the client program.The first one shows the login window.When we enter the Login ID & password & click on the ok button,the data is sent to the server for verification.If the login is true,the second class is invoked,which displays the messenger window.This class again access the server
for collecting the IDs of the online persons.But this statement which reads from the server causes an exception in the program.If we invoke the second class independently(ie not from 1st class) then there is no problem & the required data is read from the server.Can anyone please help me in getting this program right.I'm working on a p4 machine with JDK1.4.

we are about 4 minutes into editing a video for the first time on final cut pro x 10.1. everything was going very smoothly, but then it started freezing up. I had to do a hard reset and took it into the computer store that actually installed final cut for us. they suggested that our mac actually is not capable of keeping up with final cut. (I FIND THIS HARD TO BELIEVE!!) We work on an IMAC 2.66 ghz intel core 2 duo. 8 gb 1067 mhz ddr3. software os x 10.9.1 (hopefully that info will help for your suggestions) Because we have soooooooooooo many hours of high def video, we are working off of two external hard drives.... is this a problem?? or do we really need to upgrade our computer?????Like Russ said, check Activity Monitor and see what else is running and turn off any Applications that aren't needed.
Turn off wi-fi or disconnect the wire that goes to the Internet
Turn off Background Rendering (if you see an orange line on the top of the time line that moves along and gets shorter while you're not doing anything that is a good sign that Background Rendering is running.
I haven't used 10.1 yest but on the previous version there was a small circle approximately in the middle of the screen, about 1/2-inch or 1 cm in diameter, and it would have a number inside. The number is the percent complete of what is hapening. When it is Rendering the percentage will be shown.
Basically, you probably need to free up resources.
For what it is worth, my previous Mac Pro was a 1,1 2.66 machine, also with 8GB of, I think, 667 memory, and it would process FCPX 10.0.9 okay. It did have an upgraded video card, though. -

I got a new nano l am unable to connect it on my computer, l have windows 8. I have deleted itunes and downloaded back on my computer, l still am unable to connect my nano to my computer.
When l put my nano on the computer itunes saids "Accessing Itunes" it is not connecting.
Please help me.
ThanksUninstalling and reinstalling iTunes has no affect on the media on the computer or the account it is linked to.
If the media was purchased under another iTunes account, then it is permanently tied to that account.

External HD suddenly "unreadable" - PLEASE HELP!
Im in total panic mode right now, so I'll try and provide all the information exactly as I remember it.
Last night, I wanted to move some things off my 350GB Maxtor (model escapes me at the moment, I'm at work...) to a DVD. The External HD is connected by USB to my iMac G5. iTunes gets all its files off this External. I selected a large video folder, and told it to archive. It didn't appear to be doing anything, so I cancelled and tried again. I put a blank DVD in, and got a 'this disc is unreadable' message. I figured my DVD drive was going (sometimes Ive had problems with the laser error messages), so I tried to eject the disc, and it wouldn't. I stopped trying to archive the video and re-started the computer. The disc went in fine, and I attempted to start archiving the large video folder again. I kept getting an error message saying that it was unable to archive, so I finally gave up and went to bed.
I woke up, and plugged my iPhone in to sync it before I got in the shower. When I got back, my screensaver had froze on an image, and I had to manually turn the computer off and back on. When I turned it on, the External HD never showed up on the desktop. I unplugged the power on the External HD and plugged it back in. I was met with a "This disc is not readable." and the options to Ignore, Cancel or Initialize.
I restarted numerous times, attempted plugging it into all USB ports, same message everywhere. When I hit Initialize, the disc manager showed it recognized the External drive formatted for the Mac - but the title I called the drive wasn't showing up.
If there is ANYTHING anyone can think of that may help me, I would be the most thankful person alive. This drive has YEARS worth of music, movies and personal videos on it. I really am having a hard time believing that all this stuff is GONE from the drive, but I'm at a total loss right now, and any suggestions would just be amazing. Thank you.Try unplugging and then replugging the drive, and then reset the PRAM. Let us know if this helps,

Using my wifi, i can connect to safari fine, but my apps like; twitter, youtube, facebook and other apps that require internet connecton wont connect at all, i have tried resetting my network but that has not helped, please help me!

I select Disks, and it shows the harddrive in the list. However....
I can't click on the harddrive to access it
Unless I'm doing it wrong (very possible) I can't map a network drive to it.

Please help I have called Apple Support and they can't figure this out. Infact they are sending me a new Unit for no reason.It may be possible that this particular My Book model is not compatible with the AirPorts as an AirPort Disk. (ref: The iFelix unofficial 802.11n Airport Extreme Hard Drive Compatibility List) Have you contacted WD support to see if they have a newer driver or specifically call out that they are compatible? I did a quick Google-search on the terms: "AirPort My Book" and found dozens of references where folks were having hit/miss success with the My Books.

Very slow connection, please help!

I hope someone here can give more help than the BT call centre.
My speed has dropped dramatically over the last month. I have gone from getting around 3.5mbps-4mbps to now less than 0.5mbps.
I have done the BT speed test and I have also copied the ADSL settings and status. I have pasted this below.
Can someone please advise me of any advice as I am stumped. I would consider myself pretty computer savvy but I am completly at a loss with this.
This test is done using a wireless laptop whilst the Homehub was plugged into the test socket located on the master socket. The speed tests are identical to when I do this on a wired desktop and the Homehub plugged into a different socket.

you have a 5mb connection but your noise margin is a bit high at 11.1 as normal about 6. the real problem is your profile is down at 500 instead of 4500 and this is probably due to the resets/disconnection which eithe you have done trying to improve your speed or the hub has done on it's own.
if you stay connected 24/5 for 3/5 with no resets/disconnections your profile will rise to 4500. you may find later that your noise margin drops to nearer 6 with a slight increase in your connection speed
