External moniter port

hi i have a hp 2000 notebook pc with no hdmi slot and only a external monitor port and 3 usb ports. so how do i connect it to my tv inorder to watch movies??

Hi,
Based on the following specs, it has 1 VGA (15-pin) port:
   http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c03476824
Connecting VGA (analog) port to HDMI (digital) port you need a converter, which is similar to one of the following devices:
   http://www.ebay.com.au/bhp/vga-to-hdmi-converter
Please note: your machine uses "AMD E-300 accelerated processor (1.30GHz)", you won't get what you hope for.
Regards.

  • IBook G4 external moniter

Hi guys, this is my first question here on the Apple forums, so go easy on me please
I have a 800mhz iBook G4, running Leopard 10.5.8. I know, I know, it's not supported, but it works pretty darn well. I have also run Screen Spanning Doctor on it, so I can hook to a external moniter.
Here is my problem: I but the 'Book in clamshell mode (which I also enabled) when I boot it -- then I get to the login screen, which I believe is displayed at 1024 x 756. (it's a 1280 x 1024 monitor). I then login, the resolution switches to 1280 x 1024, and all goes well.
The problem is when I logout. The screen tries to switch resolution, but it gets stuck halfway, and the screen is left black. It's on, but it's black. I van only fix it by unplugging the mini-VGA adapter, and plugging it back in, which wakes up the laptops screen, and then puts it in mirror mode. I then have to put it in clamshell mode by sleepig it, and all that jazz.
Any ideas as to what's going on? I don't want to wear out the cable by unplugging it all the time, an I would like to have a full 32mb of VRAM going to the moniter too.
BTW, switching my resolution to 1024 x 756 before logging out doesn't help either.

This is no longer relevant, and it was archived, so lol I guess I'll mark it as answered.

  • Portrait Display 640 x 870 75 hz on External Video Port?

Any way to force external video port into 640 x 870 @ 75 hz mode? I've got an old Apple M1030 monochrome display and a suitable cable adapter. My Pismo Powerbook recognizes that the M1030 as external display when connected, but doesn't seem to offer 640 x 870 as an option in mirror display mode. (There's clearly ouput, but display can't sync to it.) Anyway to force 640 x 870 mode? Some command line option, or even program interface? Anyway to turn off mirror display and keep the external setting window onto my Powerbook's display?Other ideas?
    Thanks,
    Seth

Can't get Mac OS 10.3.9 to accept SwitchRes setting 640x870. SwitchRes knows this setting, and, I can create a "custom" 640x870. But, it seems Mac OS 10.3.9 will not allow such a setting to be installed. (Reviewed by email with author of SwitchRes, Stephane Madrau.) There may be some "sanity check" in the OS which won't accept this aspect ratio. For what it's worth, I use video timings from Mac IIci manual p.51 (PDF p.59) http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Hardware/DeveloperNotes/Macintosh_CPUs-68K_Desktop/MacIIci.pdf Anyone know if 10.4.x would tolerate such a setting?

  • Identify Ports for AD - External UDP port scanner

    Greetings all,
I am trying to figure out which UDP port is alarming on the "AD - External UDP port scanners (13005)" signature. By default, the signature is set to summarize which looks something like this "NumDestIps=100; currentTHreshold=100. protocol=1".
From the "Protocol = 1" line I am assuming all scanning is hitting up on a single destination protocol - I need to know which protocol / port number.
I've already attempted to turn on "log attacker, pair, and victim" packets. Verbose is not an option for this signature. I have also tried changing alert Frequency to "fire all" or just uncheck the "Summary Mode" box. None of this tells me the destination/victim port. I do see under a protocol field "ICMP" but i don't believe that pertains to the source port. Any ideas on how I might find this information?

TCP/445 is used by Microsoft file sharing (CIFS), and by default that port is opened on all Microsoft PC basically to allow file sharing.
If you open up DOS prompt, and type: netstat -na, you would see that your PC is by default listening on TCP/445.
Here is more information on Microsoft-DS (TCP/445):
    http://www.linklogger.com/TCP445.htm
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Server_Message_Block
So it really depends on your corporate security policy, whether to allow file sharing or not within the network. IPS is picking that up because it is an easier way of exploiting a PC since the port is opened by default.

  • Using iBook G4 and external moniter

I am using my iBook G4 and an external moniter at the same time. Here is the problem. Right now it uses the mirror display and I was wondering if there was a way that I could turn that off. I tried to use system preferences but it said that the "arrangement" icon has been hidden. Is there any way around this?

  • T61 External Monitor Port Failure Question

I have a Lenovo T61 8897-cto (purchased 4/2008) with what I believe is a failing backlight.  In dim environments I can still see the screen.  I've  been temporarily using an external monitor, but the external monitor just went blank and I can't get it back, (the external monitor works fine with another laptop which I'm using now).  My question is, does this new fault point to a system board failure?   I suppose it could be a connector but I don't move the system often and not recently.  The only other things that comes to mind is that the battery is dying and only has 50% of its capacity left, (but I always run it with the AC cable plugged in).
I'm just wonder if it is worth putting any money into this laptop or to parts it out.  I've already ordered a replacement W510 which I should get in under 2 weeks. I was thinking about using the T61 as a backup or dedicated to Ubuntu, but I can buy a used one for under $600 so I don't want to dump $400 into to have it repaired.
Any suggestions/prior experience with failing LCD displays and external video port?

1400x1050 is the highest screen resolution, so I guess that is SXGA+ No, I've never spilled anything on the laptop. I'm running Windows Vista Pro latest Service Pack. I rebooted the system this morning and the external display was detected and used during the boot process. It started to work again under Windows. I'm starting to think that it was some sort of power saving mode that failed to re-initialize. The main laptop screen is still dim, but readable in a dark room. It does have a bit of a tint to it, which I've read is an indicator of a failing backlight. I've checked the warranty on the Lenovo website and they've indicated that it has expired.

  • SRE External Gig port for WCCP traffic?

Has anyone been successful with using the external Gig port on the SRE modules for WCCP traffic?  Has anyone tried it?
I'd like to reduce the CPU on my ISR-G2 routers that have the SRE modules running WCCP GRE.  I'd like to use the external gig port on the SRE module for the WCCP traffic, which will allow me to use WCCP L2.  Is this even feasible?  Or maybe I just need to add WCCP L2 on an SRE as a New Feature request to Cisco?
    According the to Cisco documentation....
The external service-module interface can be used to monitor LAN traffic. You can also select the external interface as the management interface for the SM. The external interface cannot be used for downloading applications.
Visible only to the SM software on the Cisco SM-SRE, the external service-module interface is the Gigabit Ethernet interface connector on the Cisco SM-SRE faceplate. The external interface supports data requests and data transfers from outside sources, and it provides direct connectivity to the LAN through an RJ-45 connector.

    Tammy,
What is preventing you from configuing WAAS on SRE with L2 WCCP / Mask assignment via the internal interface?   This is totally feasible.
If you are trying to decrease CPU utilization on your router, don't expect switching from GRE to L2 to make a drastic difference.  The ISR G2 is a software based platform, as such WCCP (whether L2 or GRE) is processed by the CPU with CEF assistance.
True removing the GRE encapsulation will save some processing overhead, but in the end it's the PPS (packets per second) your router is handling that's driving the CPU.
Remember when you add WCCP / WAAS to the flow it's no longer packet in/ packet out on the router.  Compressed data in on WAN, out to WAAS, uncompressed from WAAS back to Router, out on the LAN, then the reverse... uncompressed data on the LAN in to the router, out to WAAS, compressed from WAAS out to the router, then out on the WAN.  So depending on the compression observed you will see > 2x the amount of traffic being processed by the router.

I’m having trouble indentifying the external monitor port. Its larger than the newer ports that are on the later MacBook and MacBook Pro it has 2 rolls of teeth and is taller then the later models. I would like to buy an adapter to hookup another monitor but nobody seems to know what i'm talking about. My Model is a MacBook 2,1  with an 2.16 Intel core duo.

  • What Do I Need To Run A External Moniter with a Macbook Pro?

I have a Mac Book Pro 13in Mid 2009 Model. I replaced the RAM to 8GB, I have an HDMI Converter cable to plug my mac book into my 21in moniter, but it seems like it is still lagging behind, with internet connection but the screen just cant keep up or something. Is that a graphics card issue or is there something else that I need to improve the video on my monitor.

    JimmyCheckers,
there’s not enough information to say for sure. If you watch a video which lags on your external monitor on your built-in display instead, does the lagging cease, or is the lagging also observable on the built-in display? If you completely download a video onto your internal disk before watching it, does it still lag on the external monitor? Does it lag on the built-in display?

    Hello Thuan Soldier,
The port 389 can be used to request information from the local DC. However, the requesting application can obtain all of the attributes for those objects. For example, a request to port 389 could be used to obtain a user’s department
The port 3268 is used for queries specifically targeted for the global catalog. LDAP requests sent to port 3268 can be used to search for objects in the entire forest. However, only the attributes marked for replication to the global catalog can be returned.
For example, a user’s department could not be returned using port 3268 since this attribute is not replicated to the global catalog.
