External monitor on Bootcamp windows 7? (IMAC)

I am having problems with getting my external monitor to work in windows 7. It works properly with mac. It seems that the problem is that is does not detect the screen, as there is only 1 screen detected so i cannot choose a second one. I am using that mini port to VGA adapter.
I hope you can help me.

  • External Monitor with Bootcamp (and Windows Vista Business)

It looks like this has been discussed quite a bit already, but as a computer neophyte I've had a hard time deciphering an answer that applies to my unique circumstance. So apologies if some of you've already been over this.
    Anyway, here's my question/problem:
My second monitor (Gateway HD2250) doesn't work when I'm using Bootcamp (Windows Vista Business). I'm running a VGA cord from the Gateway monitor to a VGA adapter that's plugged in to the back of my Mac. My computer's a late '06 iMac w/ Mac OS X 10.5.5. BTW, my virtual Windows does seem to register the second monitor; it's just that nothing shows up on the Gateway screen.
    Ideas for help? Thanks everyone!!

I managed to get an upgrade version of XP to run by using the internal DVD drive for the main all disc and an external DVD drive for my qualifying disc. Has to be that way round because the Apple keyboard ceases to function for a while and the required USB windows keyboard dosen't have an eject button. The whole business was very painful however, trying to get the installer restarts to select the correct drive each time.

  • Can i use a hdmi to mini display port cable to use my iMac as external monitor for a windows laptop?

Does anyone know if a hdmi to mini display port cable can be used to link a  windows laptop with an 27 inch iMac to use the iMac as an external monitor. Or are there other options to connect my DELL latitude 6430?

Is the 3.5mm-to-optical cable any better than using a standard 3.5mm?  I don't know too much about this stuff.  My thought process was that if the source of the connection is a 3.5mm jack, does it make a difference using a cable that starts as a 3.5 and converts to optical?
Chances are excellent that if your receiver is less than 20 years old it has an optical input, this is a digital signal which will sound MUCH MUCH better than using an analog 3.5MM to 3.5MM connection. I recommend using the cable suggested or one with the same connections but of a different length if your needs warrant it.

  • Problem with external monitor when using Windows XP on MBP

    Hi All,
I just got a 15.4" MBP, and put Windows XP Home on it using BootCamp. Anyway, the monitor sits above the MBP's screen, as shown below (set up this way through display props, not sure if it matters):
    [ ] External Monitor
    [ ] MBP Screen
Anyway, some program windows won't drag to the external monitor (Dell 2007FP connected via DVI). An example is AIM. Any idea what it could be? The window shows for about 1/2" on the top monitor, and then it sticks, even though the cursor will continue to move upwards.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
    Mike

    Hello Gray:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
It appears from this knowledge base article, that you need a USB keyboard to use Bootcamp:

  • External monitor and bootcamp

hi guys, my external monitor works perfect with leopard but with windowsxp don´t and it goes on blue screen error. Seems to be tipical windows drivers problem. Any idea?
    Thanks!

    Hey mayaman,
Did you install the recently released Bootcamp update?
If not, get it here : http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/27367/apple-bootcamp
I don't get a blue screen but Windows Vista in that case won't recognize my external Display. Only after a reboot it works without any issue.

  • Macbook, External Monitor (TV) and Windows

I have been trying (for ages) to get Windows to display on the TV. I can do it on the Mac side, with a DVI connector, but Windows doesn't work. No that I have upgraded to Leopard, I had hopes. Is there some setting I need to make this work? The Macbook says it is using Intel Mobile adapter.
When the DVI is hooked up in Windows my screen flashes. The external monitor 2 will not accept that it is there.
    Thanks

As far as I know, Apple only sells one kind of DVI connector for around $20. Based on your statement about inputs to your TV, you should get an Apple Mini DVI-->DVI cable. Then, you'll need a DVI to HDMI cable to plug into your TV. I don't know your setup, but you probably should get one that is 6' unless you need a longer one.
You will also need a separate audio cable with jacks at each end similar to the kind that fit into your headphone out from your MB. In order to get sound, you will need a audio input that is tied in with your HDMI input. I don't know if your set has this setup. I have a Sony with 3 HDMI inputs, but only one of them has a separate audio input jack. If you don't have this audio input jack, you can run your audio to a separate stereo amp. Or you can go with the Component option which will definitely have an audio input.

  • External monitor in BootCamp?

I have just ordered a new MacBook to replace my older MacBook Pro and have heard that you cannot use an external monitor (or projector) in BootCamp with a MacBook. Actually I was pointed to an Apple doc that says you can't use external monitors with either the Macbook or Macbook Pro...which I know isn't accurate, as I've used my Macbook Pro with various displays and projectors in Bootcamp since I got it over 2 years ago. Can anyone confirm that you can use the mini-DVI to VGA adapter in Bootcamp? I need it to run some presentation software. thanks!

    yeah

  • Is there a way to connect and view an external monitor only on my Intel iMac?

I have an Acer 15.6" monitor connected to my Intel iMac via VGA cable and Mini-DVI to VGA adapter. I am running Lion (V10 7.3) and would like to direct my image to the external display only. The preferences pane does not offer that option. Is there some way to do it?

Do you have a desktop machine running iTunes?
If so then yes, setup home sharing and you can stream anything in your iTunes library to your iPad.
    It works good.

  • 2 external monitors on new 27" thunderbolt iMac

I have bought one of these new 27" thunderbolt imac. Is it possible to use both thunderbolt ports to connect the iMac to 2 external monitors?
I mean, working with 3 monitors?

In theory.  Note there may be limitations imposed by the GPU, which are in the specs:
    http://www.apple.com/imac/specs.html
Any of those limits may be able to be overcome to some extent by devices by:
    http://www.matrox.com/
Although I've heard their devices can be slower than machines that have the GPUs to support additional displays.

  • External Monitor with Bootcamp

I am running Bootcamp on my MBP (Leopard 10.5.2). Is it possible to run a second monitor in the Windows partition? I am running XP Pro, SP2. I tried plugging in a monitor, but it didn't seem to recognize that it was there. Am I doing something wrong, or is it not possible? Thanks in advance.
    Charles

I have found a solution on my MBP after reading a lot of threads. I have the 15-inch 2.5GHz version with the nVidia graphics card. In Windows XP using BootCamp, the nVidia driver was installed and has a task tray icon in the lower-right of the screen. You have several choices with the options when right-clicking on this icon to get your LCD Projector or whatever else to work. Here are 2 solutions (you must have the LCD or TV connected to the video port on the Mac :
    1. Right-click the nVidia icon in the task tray. Highlight 'nView Display Settings' and then 'Dualview'. You can click on 'Laptop Display + <the model of your LCD>' to have the nVidia utility switch your laptop to extend the desktop. You will have your main desktop on your laptop screen and a blank screen on the LCD. You can drag windows to the right of your laptop desktop screen and they will move over to the LCD screen.
    2. Right-click the nVidia icon in the task tray. Highlight 'nView Display Settings' and then 'Single display'. If you click the model of your LCD projector or TV in the list, the laptop display will go blank and the screen will switch to the LCD giving you what you want by toggling the display as normal in Windows. You will need to work with the resolution settings as the switch seems to have its own independent settings than the normal Windows desktop.
    Hope this helps!

  • External Monitor vs just adding an iMac? Crazy or what?

I had posted an earlier question about an additional 2nd external monitor and received several responses that led me back to an Apple Cinema Display. I thought about that but because it was a matte finish versus a glossy finish it wasn't going to achieve the objective of matching my glossy finish on my MacBook Pro.
So, here's a thought. Given the cost of the 20" ACD, for a few hundred dollars more I could get a 20" iMac. As a bonus, you do get a second computer, a super combo drive, a cool new keyboard and mighty mouse. Crazy or what?
Now, the question. Since I am networked, is there a program that will allow me to use the iMac as a monitor slave? If so, has anyone used and had any experience doing so? Not that it's that big of a deal because I am setting up the two Macs to mirror one another; at least for shared documents.
Which leads me to my second question. Since I am only sharing "Documents", and I am networked, what is the best way to handle this?
Thanks as usual for everyone's fine support and contribution.

  • How do I use an external monitor with 21.5 inch iMac?

I have a brand new 21.5 inch iMac and am trying to hook it up with an older 20 inch Mac cinema via Thunderport. Do I need a special cable. I saw none at my local Apple store. or will it work at all?

Use a Mini DisplayPort adapter for that monitor type.

  • External mic in bootcamp Windows 7

    MBP Retina, 256G, 2012.
So I plug an iPhone headset into the jack and in Mac OS it works as a mic just fine.
But then I do the same in Windows 7 with bootcamp installed (v 4.0 btw) and it just doesn't seem to work. In the "Recordings" tab, as you can see, is only the internal mic.

  • External Monitor in Bootcamp question.

Hi All! For the life of me, I cannot get my LG display to run dual with my macbook pro retina in windows 7 bootcamp.

Has anyone solved such an issue with their bootcamp?
None of the help ive read so far has helped me with this issue.

  • Update graphic driver on Bootcamp (Windows 7), iMac late 2013

    Hi guys,
I googled a lot but there are way to many possible solutions...
I bought a late iMac 27" with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M 2GB. I installed Windows 7 (64Bit) for gaming purposes. Now I'd like to update the graphics driver but am not sure how to do it.
--> is it possible to update them directly via the official NVIDIA drivers or do I need some "special" drivers from Apple?
I don't want to mess up the boot camp installation since installing windows and especially doing all the windows-updates takes forever and a day...
thanks a lot for your help!

Install the driver provided by NVIDIA. In fact Apple uses NVIDIA drivers in Boot Camp, but they are very outdated, so they will not give you the best performance. To fix that, go to the NVIDIA website and install the most recent NVIDIA driver.
