External monitor on windows side

so i have the new macbook pro and the external monitor works fine for mirroring. However when i switch to my windows side. I want to be able to use my external display to play my game. The only option it gives me is to extend my desktop and this part i can see my wallpaper on the external monitor.but when i launch the game it only launches on my laptop and not the monitor...the only option is to extend and not to mirror it...does anyone know what the problem is?
I also cant get internet on my window side either

Hi, I have had similar issues in the past.
Here is what I did to fix.
In Windows (I have XP SP-3) right-click on desktop, go down half-way to 'Graphics Properties' (Please note - this is NOT 'Properties' at the bottom), you will get the advanced settings for the Displays.
From here you can configure your displays under the Settings tab. You will see the option for mirroring or extending.
I have found that it is NECESSARY to create a Scheme (Click on Scheme Options in the upper right-hand corner) because Windows does not keep the settings after rebooting (sometimes it does - go figure)
ALSO - check the box to Show Tray Icon for the Graphic accelerator. To do this - right click on desktop, go to bottom and select 'Properties', Settings tab, Advanced button, select the Intel Graphics Media....tab, check box is at the bottom/left.
By doing this you can then click on the tray icon and go up to 'Schemes' and select your scheme and Windows will automatically switch to the configuration you created.
I hope this helps,
Kevin

  • Can't connect external monitor to Windows 7 bootcamp Macbook Pro 15 - ATI 6770

I recently puchased a Macbook pro 15 in 2012.  I have bootcamp set up and am running windows 7 home on the bootcamp partition.  When in windows I am unable to use an external monitor or overhead projector.  I have updated all of the ATI drivers and have fiddled with screen resolutions and display refresh rates to no avail.  I am using a cheapo mini displayport to VGA adapter which I have confirmed works while I am using the mac side of the machine.
Unfortunately I have to use windows while at work and using a projector to display data is essential.
I am out of ideas at this point --  Help - - Please!!

I was hoping some of the multi/monitor people would show up and help you but I guess they missed it.
Have you gone into the Properties of the video drivers (via the Device Manager) and let it Update Driver either through the internet or migrate to the newer Boot Camp video drivers you recently downloaded?
The only other thing I can suggest is to completely delete the video drivers then reinstall them manually either through the Programs and Features control panel or in the Device Manager/ Video drivers and see if it "takes".
Don't forget you do have an Apple Software Updater in Windows also. It updates the Windows support software from Apple. (Boot Camp)
    Sorry I can't help more........

  • Imac as external monitor for windows Notebook

    Hi,
I want to switch from my Windows Pc to a mac for private use.
I prefer the new iMac (2011) 21,5" but I could not get an definite answer (not even in my local apple store) if it is possible to connect an existing Notebook (with VGA Mini-d-sub or DVI connector) to the new iMac in order to use the iMac as an external monitor for the Notebook.
I definitely need this for my business work in my home-office so this information is vital.
If ist is not possible I have to take the macMini and stay with my standard monitor.
Can please someone tell me if it is possible at all and if so, how it can be done.
I searched the internet and only found out that it was possible with the older 27" model but no information for the 2011 21,5" so please help!
Thank you in advance for your Support.

    Hi,
    Sorry to say, but ...
The 2011 iMacs (21.5" and 27") can only be used as a second display via a Thunderbolt-to-Thunderbolt cable.
The 2009 and 2010 27" iMacs can be used as a second display via a DisplayPort connection.

  • Using External Monitor in Windows 7 Installation Program

Hello. I'm trying to install Windows 7 on a Macbook with a broken built-in monitor. I've been running Windows 7 RC on the Macbook already with an external monitor. But I can't get the setup screen to show up on the external monitor and the built-in laptop monitor is too broken to go through the setup process.
Is there a way to get the setup screen to go on my external monitor? I have rEFIt installed, and it automatically displays on the external monitor, but once I choose the Windows 7 DVD, it shuts off and tries to display on the laptop monitor.

    Hi,
just saw your signature stating OSX 10.4.11
For an successful installation if Windows 7 on a Mac you need the BootCamp Drivers version 3.0 and the update to 3.1
While the 3.1 update is avaiable for download, the needed 3.0 drivers are only avaiable on the OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD.
    Regards

  • Yoga 2 Pro - extremely slow when plugged to an external monitor with Windows 10

Hi! Like most of you, I was eager to take the step early and try Windows 10 (knowing the risk of running into some problems on the way). Everything works very smoothly, and Win10 is really delightful. The only major problem I've faced is that when I plug an external monitor, every action (launching Firefox for example) takes ages and many apps "doesn't respond". I've downloaded and installed all the drivers for Win10 (included the one for the graphic card). Any idea what is happening or what I could try? Best,François

Hi. I am suffering the exact same thing. But i think i narrowed down the issue:When i am not using an external monitor - everything works nicely. When I am using an external monitor (and laptop set to "Extend" mode) while laptop screen is open - everything works nicely. When i am using an external monitor (and laptop set to "Extend" mode) while laptop screen is closed - everything becomes extremely slow and laggy.  I wish Lenovo support would provide a solution asap.

  • External Monitor Producing Black Sides

    Hey,
I just got a new LG monitor and I am using it as an external display to my 2011 macbook pro 15". I am not using the option "best for display" because every time I do it switches the resolution to 800 x 600 when it should be 1920 x 1080, 60 Hz. The problem is that every time I do this I get a black side. I have changed the settings inside the monitor itself but I cannot change them anymore to fit the screen. If anyone has any solutions please help.

  • External monitor not displaying full 1920x1080 (black bars around desktop), Pavilion g6

I have a Pavilion g6 notebook running Windows 8.1. I have an external Acer S232HL display hooked up via an HDMI cable. The resolution is set to 1920x1080 in Windows, and I'm only outputting to the external monitor.
Windows thinks the resolution is set to 1920x1080, but for some reason on the monitor it is scaled to something like 1734x980 with black borders (unused pixels) all around.
All drivers and OS are up to date. Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 7640G via an AMD A8-4500M APU.
Somebody posted what looks to be the same problem for this AMD chipset, though for a different manufacturer:
    https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-3000-and-Essential/G505S-doesn-t-full-screen-my-External-Monitor...

    (Workaround)
Since I don't expect to find a fix for this, I've resigned myself to setting the resultion to 1776x1000 and setting the monitor in a 1-for-1 pixel mode (called "Aspect" in the options). I still end up with the borders, but the graphics are nice and sharp because it isn't trying to scale 1920x1080 into a smaller resolution.

  • External monitor not recognized (X200)

    Hi,
I have an X200 with Vista
When I connect an external monitor (or projector) it is not recognized.  Shift-F7 results in a message that no external monitor is detected.  However, if I leave the monitor connected, put the system in standby and then resume, it recognizes the external display.
Any thoughts to how I can get it to recognize without this work-around? Thanks

I had the same problem.  I think it's a vista device driver issue.  Try this-
Power down your laptop.  Plug in the external monitor.  Boot the computer - it should default to the external monitor, and Windows should recognize it.  Then, shut down normally.
Pull the monitor cable, boot your laptop regularly, reattach the cable, and give it a try.
    It worked for me.

  • Function f3 works in strange way with external monitor

The Fn F3 seems to send the screen from the laptop to an external monitor, Pressing the Fn f3 again takes the screen in the external monitor back to laptop. Here is where the problem begins, If pressed again as before, it does not work properly.
It sends sometimes, sometimes not. And there is no wat to return the screen back to thelaptop.
It appears that the external monitor is disconnected or not available when Fn F3 is pressed to return to laptop.
Also the windows key + shift + right arrow  to send to external monitor or windows key + shift + left arrow  to return from  external monitors are not working and that is a key combination to do the same as the FN F3 key combination
    Any suggestions?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Right click on desktop. Choose the screen resolution. Then click identify to see if two monitors are detected. Then in the third option choose duplicate display. Try this in either of the situation.

  • How to make Lenovo recognize external monitor as default at boot time?

    Hello,
I suspect this is a rather simple fundamental Windows operation procedure, but I am going bald - tearing my hair out - trying to get this to work!!  I use Windows XP on a Lenovo 3000 V100, with Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver (Intel 945W chipset).  Whenever I plug into an external monitor, I always have to manually switch the display from the laptop to the external monitor.  Here's the sequence of what happens.
    1) connect external monitor & turn on laptop
    2) Lenovo banner appears on the external monitor
    3) Windows banner appears on the external monitor
    4) but then Windows GUI (log-on screen) switches back to laptop monitor.
    5) must use hot keys to toggle the display from laptop to external monitor.
    6) must then reselect resolution settings of the external monitor (none of previously saved settings were recognized!!!)
I must repeat these steps once I logged of my computer session; and reconnect with the external monitor later.  I would appreciate any help or suggestions.  Thank you.

I don't have an V100 to check the following but, if you go into BIOS (F1 at boot) there should hopefully be an entry in the Config > Display menu allowing you to select default boot display as VGA rather than intern.

  • Surface Pro 3 Display/Video/Graphics Driver Issues - DisplayPort, External Monitors, Windows 10 Build 9926

Surface Pro 3 - i5 with Intel HD Graphics 4400
    Windows 10 build 9926
    All Latest updates installed
    Intel Graphics Driver 10.18.15.4079.
Latest system update released on Jan 22nd (which I understand is just the latest intel graphics driver?).
The display driver status has this error message: Windows has stopped this device because it
    has reported problems. (Code 43)  - I assume it's
reverting to the basic Microsoft driver when this occurs. Which explains why my displayport (External monitors) will not work.
I have uninstalled the driver completely (and deleted the driver files), tried the Windows basic driver,
and rebooted several times with no luck.
I cannot get my docking station displayport or the  displayporton my surface pro 3 working.
According to Microsoft (see below), this is a known issue UNTIL you update to display driver
    version 4079  - which I have.
Known issues on Surface after updating to Windows 10 January Technical Preview
On Surface Pro 2 and Surface Pro 3, the Mini DisplayPort won’t work on the Windows 10 January Technical Preview until you’ve installed graphics driver 4079 or later. Check Windows Update often for the most recent graphics driver.
On Surface Pro 2 and Surface Pro 3, you’ll notice poor graphics rendering on the Windows 10 January Technical Preview until you’ve installed graphics driver 4079 or newer from Windows Update. Check Windows Update often for the most recent graphics driver.
If you’re using video driver 3496, you may need to start in safe mode and remove that driver. Then restart Surface in normal mode and go to Windows Update to get the most recent graphics driver.

    Hi Nicholas,
Similar issue has been asked here:
Surface Pro 3 restarting after a series of blank screens!
For error code 43, here is a reference:
Code 43: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems
For the current situation, please try to wait for the driver update, as display driver version 4079 didn't work well at your side, please submit this through Windows Feedback Tool.

  • Macbook, External Monitor (TV) and Windows

I have been trying (for ages) to get Windows to display on the TV. I can do it on the Mac side, with a DVI connector, but Windows doesn't work. No that I have upgraded to Leopard, I had hopes. Is there some setting I need to make this work? The Macbook says it is using Intel Mobile adapter.
When the DVI is hooked up in Windows my screen flashes. The external monitor 2 will not accept that it is there.
    Thanks

As far as I know, Apple only sells one kind of DVI connector for around $20. Based on your statement about inputs to your TV, you should get an Apple Mini DVI-->DVI cable. Then, you'll need a DVI to HDMI cable to plug into your TV. I don't know your setup, but you probably should get one that is 6' unless you need a longer one.
You will also need a separate audio cable with jacks at each end similar to the kind that fit into your headphone out from your MB. In order to get sound, you will need a audio input that is tied in with your HDMI input. I don't know if your set has this setup. I have a Sony with 3 HDMI inputs, but only one of them has a separate audio input jack. If you don't have this audio input jack, you can run your audio to a separate stereo amp. Or you can go with the Component option which will definitely have an audio input.
