External monitor usage with Satellite A100-PSAA9

I have a problem when I connect a 2º external monitor, it connect but next it disconect , it's always connecting and disconecting. I made the update of display driver and bios but I still have the same problem, what can i do?
My operating system is windows vista.

What do you mean exactly with disconnecting and connecting?
Does the display switch to the internal and external display or the display on the external monitor goes simply off.
Did you check the connection to the notebooks monitor port?

  • Wrong nvidia drivers for Satellite A100 (PSAA9)

I downloaded nvidia drivers 97.45 but this driver recognizes my GeForce Go 7600 card as NVIDIA Quadro NVS 110M. Is there something wrong with the drivers?
At nvco.inf I found that there is only support for the latter card. What is happening?

I wrote here last week but nobody answer me. I have Satellite A100-PSAA9 and driver doesnt work on Windows Vista. It says "This driver compatible with Wista Vista" so I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate also Turkish language. I was thinking maybe problem is Turkish version but I see it is not.
I called Toshiba Turkey customer support but they said "We didnt test yet Vista driver, please bring your laptop here. Maybe we will report this Toshiba Europe and they will release new driver soon". I dont want to bring it anywhere, I want some solution.
NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 doesnt work with Windows Vista Ultimate. Nvidia.com on web sites not release yet any GeForce Go Vista Driver. What does it mean?

  • Cannot record audio from wave on Satellite A100-PSAA9

Why I can not record realtime Audio Conference with the included RealTec Driver on my Toschiba A100?
Record Options given just, "Microphone-Line In-CD" but Wave is Missing, why?
I have another Notebook from Asus with RealTec Driver and there is it possible, on my Toshiba not, why?

    Dear all,
I've read so many posts where people want to record music they hear on their Satellite Notebooks (either wave, or sounds from the internet) and it seems that cornelius solved the "realtec driver" problem - that doesn't meen that it's really a problem of realtec - (where there are only three mixer categories) quite well. But I tried a little - because I don't want to spend 30$ for a new driver and found a cheaper solution (finally I hope, it works at least on my Satellite A100-PSAA9).
    What you need is:
first, a program that may record your sounds to mp3 or wave or whatever, I use No23Recorder - but there are lots of other programs working very well. Second you need to buy (mine cost 1) a jack plug (in german: Klinkenstecker) with one male and two female slots. Third, a stereo cable with one jack plug at each end of it (2)
Than you can start recording by putting the jack plug into the headphone slot of your Notebook; than putting the stereo cable into one of the female slots of the jack plug and the other one into the microphone slot of your Notebook. To listen to the things you want to record, put a headset into the free slot of the jack plug - and start recording ;-) !
So if you have enough money and you don't like a bit of cable salad, than I suggest you choose cornelius's way. If you are a poor student like me, perhaps you should try mine?
    Cheers, Kat

  • How to create a complete new image for Satellite A100 PSAA9E ?

My Satellite A100 PSAA9E is so incredible slow that I think the only option is to uninstall everything. Mean how can I restore my laptop to its original condition inlc. latest driver units.
    best regards,
    stef

    Hi,
Before making a new installation you can clean your system using software like TuneUp utilities. it's shareware but you can use it free for a month. It cleans the registry, removes duplicated files, and...
If you want to restore to it's original condition, use recovery disks or Hdd recovery image (Pressing F8 on startup). If you didn't burn and hdd recovery image gone, you can order from Toshiba for money or get windows copy for installation (all the drivers you can find on Toshiba driver page)

  • Need WXP drivers for Satellite A100 (PSAA9)

    Hiya,
I've had to re-install Windows XP on my laptop. I don't have the Toshiba drivers CD though.
So I came here to get the drivers but I've no idea which driver goes with which hardware in my Device Manager.
Here's what I need the drivers for under Device Manager...
    Ethernet Controller
    Mass Storage Controller
    Network Controller
    PCI Device
    PCI Device (again)
    SM Bus Controller
Can anyone advise which specific driver I need for each?
    Many thanks,
    James

  • Special RAM brand for Satellite A100 (PSAA9)?

    Hi,
    I have a Satellite A100-504 (PSAA9) with only 1 GB RAM. CPUZ says it's a Hyundai HYMP512S64BP8-C4 PC2-4300 module.
I want to upgrade to 2 GB and was wondering whether I have to buy some special sort of RAM? Do I have to buy also Hyundai RAM or can that be a different brand? What about the specifications? Which RAM modules would be the best in combination with Vista and that Hyundai HYMP512S64BP8-C4 1 GB module?
    Thank you for your help!
    Bob

One more thing: you can of course buy the memory modules from different manufacturers but be sure you use high quality product. I can recommend you also Kingston memory modules.

  • Satellite A100 (PSAA9): Win7 + screen brightness adjustment issue

    Hi
I have installed Windows 7 64-bit on my toshiba A100 (psaa9) machine, and i cannot modify screen brightness anymore.
It is maximum brightness always. Fn key does not work, and neigther i can modify the brightness manually through nvidia control panel. nvidia driver is 7.15.11.7967, installed automatically with windows.
    In a similar thread http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=182780
i've read suggestions about Value Added Package to be installed, but there is no package like this for my model.
how can i fix my problem?
    thanks

    hi all,
    thank you for reply!!!
ok, i tried to install VAP and Flash Card Utility for Satellite L500. first, installing Flash Card Utility i got invalid serial number error. i've read in forum that it might be due to inappropriate driver for my version on laptop or if i did not install VAP first. so, second, i tried to installed VAP, but i get value "Setup tvap error 0x8146045B" :(
according my display driver: it was nVidia driver automatically installed with win7. in fact there is no display driver for win7 64bit version on toshiba website... i guess i have more problems with display, as my secondary display blinks every time some system event like driver/program installation or usb device plugging-in or -out happens.

  • XD-bit (CPU feature) disabled/unavailable for Satellite A100-PSAA9

Last week I bought the notebook Toshiba Satellite A100-847 (Satellite A100-SPAA9) that has an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, model T7200.
According to Intel specifications this processor (like all Core and Core 2 processors) has the XD-bit feature, known in Windows as DEP. I had the unpleasant surprise to find out that this feature is
reported by Windows as unavailable (in hardware). I understood from the electronic manual on the recovery CD (which is an older edition than the printed manual that comes in the package) that I can make this feature
available (for some older Satellite models) but I couldn't find any option in my BIOS to do this (my BIOS is made by Phoenix, version 2.0).
I really want to know how can I make this feature available/active as my processor supports it and so does the operating system bought together with the laptop and more than that, this feature is something beneficial - especially designed for security reasons and supported by all modern processors and operating systems.
Do I have to wait for an updated BIOS to include this option (to activate the XD bit feature) or to have it automaticaly set as active/available (instead of disabled/unavailable)?
I am expecting a well documented response from somebody who knows what I am talking about.
    Thank you very much.

First of all, Ive started this topic hoping that I can obtain a technical and to the point response, regarding exactly what I have asked. I do not wish for this thread to become a technical glossary, because any user that has the slightest notion of using Google or Wikipedia can easily find out what XD-bit, DEP and PAE mean (and those who dont already know what these mean cannot help me).
I am compelled to repeat myself: my problem addresses the technical personnel, who really understand and know what I am talking about; it is not addressed to the average Joe who likes to hear himself talking, but not to the point.
Secondly, anyone can find out that the Intel T7200 processor has the XD-bit feature just by searching on the
Intel site: he will only have to type the words T7200 specifications into the search box; but anyway, here is the link youve asked me for:
    http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sspec=sl9sf
Thirdly, my system has to support the XD-bit feature because:
    a) the operating system acquired together with the notebook is Windows XP SP2 Home Edition (so it is SP2 and yes it is in the PAE mode!)
    b) the mainboard and the Intel 945PM chipset support this feature it is the standard Intel NAPA platform (and, just for the record, the only difference between this notebook and another notebook I own is just the processor, which is Core Duo simple -Yonah-, not Core 2 Duo -Merom- as this Toshiba notebook has; and the other notebook has the XD-bit feature enabled and Windows uses it)
Ive also tried to install Windows XP SP2 Professional and I used diagnostic and information programs (e.g. Sisoftware Sandra) but with the same result: I am reported that the processor does not have the XD-bit feature or this feature is deactivated.
Taking into account that Intel has blessed this processor model with the XD-bit feature and Toshiba has used at its turn the omnipotent Intel 945PM chipset which has nothing against the XD-bit feature mentioned above it results that this feature has been deactivated most likely by BIOS.
Ive started the topic [hoping that this forum is visited by Toshiba technicians in order to find out the problems their clients/users encounter and to act accordingly by offering them their support.
PS: I am not mad, not at all; I do appreciate the interest shown in my problem, but I do not wish to accept/encourage useless and pointless discussions.
If you wish, we can have other discussions on hardware topics but not on this thread in which I only hope to obtain the solution to my problem (solution that can come by a possible update of the actual version of the BIOS present on the site).

  • External monitor filled with static, blue squares, and red dots

My family bought a Mac like 8 or so years ago. I am unsure of the exact model, but says iMac on the back (Which isn't very specific, so I apologise).
You'd expect problems after a few years, so when our mac became cluttered with multi-coloured lines, I wasn't surprised.
Eventually, it got to be a problem when the screen started to have larger lines whose lights seemed to be failing. It got to a point in which the whole screen had static, and there was very little of the screen that could actually be scene. It was easy enough to fix, we just got a new monitor.
It did the job, no more lines, the screen did have a yellow tint, but I wasn't worried.
Now, I was watching some youtube videos, then all of a sudden, both screens stopped, and red dots appeared. After countless efforts to exit the video, I unplugged the computer. When I turned it back on, it was even worse, with blue squares filling the screen, static filling it, and countless more red dots.
While the external monitor does not have the multicoloured lines, and such, both seem to have the same blue squares, static and red dots, at least for what I can tell.
Curiously enough, the waiting symbol for the cursor appeared and none of the screen problems overlapped the original.
Did I do something to it?
Is there some way to fix it, or will I have to get a new one?
Also, I apologise if this question is in the wrong category, I'm new.

    Welcome to the forum!

Lenovo might or might not fix it, although it's out of warranty. They are *extremely* well-aware of the problem that plagued these chips.
Reading related threads here or on Bill Morrow's ThinkPad Forum will reveals hundreds - if not thousands - of similar cases...

  • External monitor issues with new OS

Since switching to the new OS Lion I can't get my external monitor to work through my Toshiba docking station.  It used to work??

I have to use an external monitor with my macbook pro because the screen stopped working a couple months ago. I think the problem with the screen is just a loose connection for the light source because the computer works fine otherwise.  The repair people in town say that it's a bad logic board which will cost 700 euros to fix so I've been using it closed with the monitor and a bluetooth keyboard and trackpad.  I installed 10.9.2 the other day because I had been using 10.6.8 and there was some software I wanted to use but it needed 10.7 or later. I just assumed 10.9 was safe or better than 10.7 or 10.8 and I didn't do any research or even try to buy or DL them because the links on the apple site led me to 10.9 and I just blindly followed.  So NOW when I open the lid to my macbook pro, the menu at the top of the monitor goes gray and the monitor flicks off for a second, and when it comes back all the running applications have vanished from the desktop, (all the open windows) and I can't type, scroll, mouse.  When I close the lid it works ok, but I really like the isight camera and I think the microphone is better than the one on my external camera, so it was nice to still be able to use them.
I chatted with someone at apple for a while and he told me to erase my HD and install it again. He said the problems were because I installed it on top of an old OS and that a fresh install will fix all the problems.  I have an empty partition on my mbp and I'm about to try to install on that drive and see if it makes a difference, but I don't totally trust that guy.  I read the transcript of the chat and he gave me a lot of conflicting info.  Does anyone know if it makes a difference to install os 10.9.2 on a totally blank drive, or will the problems on the other partition corrupt everything else?

  • External Monitor blurry with MacBook Pro

Good day, I have searched the forums but have not found a solution to my problem...
I recently purchased a Dell 2005FWP External Monitor and plugged it in (DVI to VGA) to my MacBook Pro. It automatically adjusted to a 800x600 resolution which of course is not ideal. The menu gives a long list of display resolutions but most of them are "not available" when I click on them. I have tried switching the docks and the monitors to the opposite sides on "Arrangement" of displays but I still don't get a different menu. I can't seem to find the menu of resolutions for the MacBook Pro either.
Please let me know what I am doing wrong...Sorry, I know I am clueless!!
    Thank you!

I have a ViewSonic VX2035wm display connected to my MacBook Pro - the image on the external monitor shows ghosting and double images like we used to see on old tube TVs.
Here is a post from MacFixIt.com that details my problem.
    http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20081020231611468
Late-2008 MacBooks: Image problems on external displays with mini-DisplayPort converters
The new MacBooks and MacBook Pros come with a Mini-DisplayPort adaptor for external video, and Apple supplies various adaptors (DP to DVI, and DP to VGA) to accommodate current monitors. Some users are having difficulties with their adaptors when connected to certain monitors.
    Apple Discussions poster Ocell writes:
"I have the exact same problem with my Viewsonic VG2030wm 20" LCD. I've ruled out bad DVI cables. The Macbook Pro works with my 12" Cintiq's display, and the Viewsonic works with my Intel iMac, so the video out/mini displayport adaptor/dvi cable/viewsonic display are all operational. It's just the specific combination of the Macbook Pro and Viewsonic that doesn't work."
This problem has been found to frequently occur with DVI adaptors attached to their computers, however it has also happened with users connecting to the VGA adaptors. In these cases, unlike the DVI situation where no signal gets through, users have noticed the screen blinking or shutting off at random times. While drivers may definitely be suspect, the problem appears to be hardware-related since users have experienced the issue both in Mac OS X as well as in Windows via Boot Camp.
The DisplayPort connections used on the new MacBooks have slight differences in their protocols than other connection types, which allows for expanded functions in smaller connectors, but also can run users into difficulties, especially when older connetion types are used. While there could be software involvement in this problem, it sounds like there's most likely a firmware-related problem that hopefully can be patched by Apple, or at least be accommodated for in a driver update.
    Things to Try
Reset the monitor to defaults If there is a method for fully resetting the monitor, try doing that first. Most have a menu option to reset to factory defaults, but in addition there may be a way to fully reset the device such as unplugging it for an extended period of time. This information may be available on the manufacturer's website, or users can just try unplugging the device for an extended period such as 20-30 minutes.
Toggle various monitor setups In the "Displays" system preferences, toggle desktop mirroring on and off to see if the monitor is not just extending the desktop to the second monitor. Especially if users have black wallpaper on their desktops, secondary monitors that are just serving as extended desktops may appear to be off when connected. Alternatively users can try dragging documents off the sides of their main monitor to see if they go over to the second monitor.
Reset the computer Users might try resetting the computer's PRAM (which does contain some graphics parameters) by holding the options, command, P, and R keys down at bootup until the computer resets and makes the boot chimes again. Release the keys and allow the computer to boot normally. Additionally, users might try resetting the computer's system management controller. Here is an Apple Support article on how to do that.
Use a different monitor Unfortunately, with hardware problems such as this users will not be able to do much, so if another monitor is available that works then users should switch to that.
Try another adaptor Many monitors support both VGA and DVI inputs, and there is potential for users to get things working by using another connection type. Additionally, while it may be a long shot, users might also try chaining together various adaptors. For instance, users might try going from displayport to DVI, and then using a DVI to VGA adaptor as the next connection, to see if that somehow sends a proper signal to the monitor.

  • External monitor only with iBook

Is there a way to use the iBook as a desktop having the display on an external monitor? I know I can connect via the video out port, but can I put the iBook lid down and use a USB keyboard? For some reason I remember being able to use the laptop like this back in the OS 8 days, but recall how to do it. TIA. CS.

You should not operate your iBook (Dual USB) computer with the lid closed.
Outside of that, you should be able to use it with an external monitor and a USB keyboard just fine.
