External monitor using separate menu bars

I got an external monitor plugged in. Is it possible to run separate menu bars on each monitor? Menu bars corresponding to the applications on each monitor?

Only the foremost application's menus are visible on the menu bar. The foremost application will span both monitors.
It's not possible to have two different applications both active on different monitors.
You can however duplicate the menu bar of the foremost application on the second monitor using shareware programs. Try MenuEverywhere if that's what you wanting to do.

  • HDTV as external monitor using ethernet connection

    Hello,
I want to connect my HDTV to my iMac and use it as an external monitor.
My HDTV is about 25 ft away from my iMac.
A HDMI cable of that length cost over 200 $.
So, its not an option to me.
I just bought a smart rooter but my HDTV Panasonic Viera P50GT30 is not a smart TV.
It needs a DLNA server and I can't find one.
Question : Is there a way to use my HDTV as an external monitor using the Ethernet or Wifi connection?
    Thank's,
    Pierre.

    This look's good.

  • Using Dual External Monitors as Separate Screens with Late-2011 15" MBP

    Hello,
I've looked around for answers, but haven't found something that seems to address what I'm looking for.
I have a late-2011 15" MBP. The Apple TB FAQ page says it can support two external monitors. I currently have it hooked up to one external monitor via mini-to-HDMI.
I'd like to add a second external monitor, but am not sure the best way to do that. It looks like the Apple TB monitors can do it natively, by daisy-chaining, but I can't afford to purchase two of those monitors. I'd prefer to use a third-party monitor like a ViewSonic 27" or some such, which are significantly more affordable.
I want to have two actual separate monitors, the way the setup they do with the Apple TB monitors appears – not two monitors that are splitting a single screen between them (as is the case with a few of the splitter-solutions I've seen linked).
Is there a way to achieve this?
    Thanks!

I should clarify that I would prefer to do it without using a USB port to do a USB-to-HDMI conversion. I have used USB for a monitor before, and I find the lag virtually unworkable. A daisy-chaining solution, or a native splitter would be ideal.

  • Can anyone identify this network monitor on my menu bar?

About 3 weeks ago after a restart, a strange menu bar icon showed up in the upper right hand part of my screen, listing my upload/download network speed in red and green. Thing is, for the life of me I can't figure out which application is linked to this display.
I have installed Intego's Virus Barrier, but that's the only item that I've put on my mac for a while. I can't click or right click the item. Anyone recognize it?

Hello, any helps would be great as I have read all comment regarding external hyperlinks for menus and still cant make it work on the master????
Thank you for any help as I am under a deadline!
    Brynn

Thank you for your response! I have not tried that and now considering a faster way around which is more in line with the responder below using a text box or removing the item from my menu bar and using the "B" symbol for Blog elswhere on the page. All I am trying to do is in my menu bar link my blog but like you mentioned I would have to make a manual bar and not sure how to do that since I am new to Muse. Thanks for the help!

  • Trying to connect my Macbook Pro with an external Monitor - Using VGA - DVI

    Hi Everyone..
Please dont classify me as dumb but every-time i need to connect my MBP to an external monitor or projector i cant
It just doesn't work... I plug it in using all the right connectors - DVI-VGA or the other way around... Anyway - i get a blue screen which tricks me... =]
After the blue screen i go straight to the page i was on before connecting the monitor...! =[
Anyway.. are there any settings i need to adjust.... =]
If there is anything that you guys know of please inform me because i am in need to use a Monitor frequently but so far i havn't been able to do it seen as though i don't know what to do.. Ive watched tutorials and have done exactly what they've told me but it still wont display anything on the external monitor. Ive used 2 MBP's - Both i've had issues with connecting them to an external display. i know its only a minor change i need to make in System preferences but i dont know which one it is...
Please - if you know please please please tell me what it is.! =]
    Thanks alot!
    Carl... =]

I assume that you mean the blue screen is on your monitor, not your MBP. If this is the case, go to system preferences and click on displays, when the pop up box appears, click on "detect displays". See if that helps.

  • Can i attach my macbook pro to 2 external monitors using a mini displayport to HDMI connector and then an HDMI to dual DVI connector?

I would use the 2 external monitors in closed lid mode with my macbook pro

Any answers? I a similar question. If theres any way to connect my MacBook Pro into 2 monitors. I'm using right now just one.

  • IMac does not recognize external monitor using Mini Display Port to HDMI

    Hello,
I have been trying to get an external monitor (HDTV) set up for use with my iMac using a Mini Display Port to HDMI cable I just got. However, when I connect it to my iMac's mini display port, the imac's screen goes black for about a second, then returns, but it does not detect the external display. The other display is just showing a "no signal" message on the screen.
I have restarted, reset PRAM, connected and disconnected the cable several times, tried changing the resolution on the imac, plugged in/out the other display, and clicked the "detect displays" button using the option key in display preferences, but nothing has worked.
I am using an early 2009 iMac running Mavericks.
I've been using the AirParrot app, but it's horrible for video and a little slow.
Can anyone please help sort the issue here? I feel like ive exhausted everything that I know to do.
    Thanks.

I am having the same issue.  Hope Apple can fix this soon!!!

  • Low resolution on external monitor using Kernel 2.6.39

First of all, I don't if this is the right place to post this thread because it involves a kernel from the AUR, but, as that kernel is the same version as the one from [testing] I thought it would be a good place. Furthermore, the thread involving intel cards, xorg crashings and kernel 2.6.39 convinced me.
    That post: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=119442
As user of the kernel26-pf package from AUR, yesterday I updated from 2.6.38 to 2.6.39. I'm also using an Intel card on my laptop but not suffering from the crashes that the other post, ¿maybe because I'm using KDE?. The only trouble I suffer so far is that the external screen plugged to the laptop is not detected with the resolution (1280x1024) as it was before. Instead that, it is forced to 1024x768 or lower.
I have tried forcing it by adding a new mode to xrandr, but it does not detect the full frequency that screen was being used before (59.9 from 60.0 or 75.0).
My xorg logs do not show nothing as xorg does not crash at all, and no graphic issues have been detected so far.
I have not tested yet the 2.6.39 kernel from [testing] as I'm reporting the issue when I have tested that is not some kernel config that I have broke but the version. (currently I'm downloading kernel26 from [testing] but I cannot test if the same happens before 3 hours or so, as I'm writing the post from college)
As this is the first time I report some issue like this, I'm kind of clueless what logs should I post here to be helpful.
EDIT: Quick test: In both kernels 2.6.39 from [testing] and kernel26-pf I can log into kde and do everything I do without problems, also, no touchpad broken.
EDIT2: It also does happen on kernel 2.6.39 from [testing]

I have tried packages on testing related to xorg or intel drivers to see if that problem was still existing. It does. Doing some research I have found that this seems to be kernel related and not a driver or xorg thing and I have found no solutions.
There are all kind of troubles with intel graphic cards and i9xx drivers:
    http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=a … orks&num=1
Also, there is quite a "funny" discussion here:
    http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=263684
As it seems this is a kernel related problem, do we have more options than wait from upstream to fix this? Does anyone find any workaround?
EDIT: adding dmesg output when I plug the external monitor:

  • External display has no menu bar/dock when waking from sleep in clamshell mode

After Mountian Lion upgrade, external display shows no dock or menu bar when MBP wakes from sleep in clamshell mode.  I have to open and close the lid of the laptop to sort it out.  Any ideas?

MacBook is connected to AC adapter. My MacBook is almost new, I have it for only few months, connector looks clean.
I never had problems with AC adapter but I will try different wall outlet.
It's a shame that I have no other device with display port output so I can not test if the problem is with my display. With dual DVI connected to my desktop computer display works fine... for more than one year now...

  • External monitor use

    Hi
bought the  convertor cable to connect my TV which I use at as a monitor and connected it up. The monitor only works when the lid/screen/clamshell is closed.
On my windows laptop I can use the keyboard and the external monitor, is this not possible with the macbbok pro ie use the built in keyboard with the external monitor?
    thanks
    Ian

Sure, it's possible to use the built-in keyboard and an external monitor at the same time. The built-in monitor will also be active, either with the same picture or as part of an extended desktop.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Linking Using Spry Menu Bars

    Hello,
Please forgive my noobieness. I used to use Adobe GoLive and
    am now transitioning to Dreamweaver.
I have the layout of the website I want using a template
provided by DW with a fixed main content area, header and a footer.
The banner and the horizontal menu bar are at the top. The content
would be displayed below as each button from the menu bar is
clicked. I have followed the directions in the Missing Manual
series but I still seem to have problems.
    1. For example. For a button listing Directions. I have it
set to link to the proper .html file called Directions.html. This
was set using the Spry Properties. Same for Home and a pricing
menu. However when I run it using Firefox it opens a new tab and
displays the chosen content there rather than in the existing page
where the menu bar is located. In IE I cannot even get the page to
jump to any place else. I dont here the clicking noise or even some
kind of recognition that is trying to load the chosen page.
I see a list for target but those have no effect.
    2. Secondly. In IE the menu bar drop down works really slow
even when I view other peoples websites that were built using CS3.
In Firefox it seems to work fine.
Any suggestions would be great and appreciated. Attached is
    som code.

    Hi Peter,
only to show you my impressions.
    1. FF:
    2. IE8:

  • External monitor use---AWESOME!

Folks, I have had this little MacBook for over a month now and until today, I have never used an external monitor on it. Simply put, the experience was absolutely amazing.
Hook up an external keyboard, hook up the monitor, put the computer to sleep.
Wake it up, and in a few moments the monitor comes to life, complete with a display setting that takes advantage of the monitor's resolution.
I was also impressed with the performance. This monitor is typically connected to my Mac G4 Tower, with its 1.5 ghz OWC CPU. So, when I see a Mac image on that monitor, I'm referencing what I'm used to with that Tower.
My MacBook was FASTER. Windows snapped faster, files came across faster. My poor faithful 5 1/2 year G4 Tower. It was toasted by a computer that could fit inside its case.
Final test... I just had to know. I restarted the MacBook. I figured I would lose the monitor communcations, but I didn't. It just "boringly" worked. I wish I had thought of shutting the MacBook down and doing the same thing, but I didn't.
Anyway, it was a fun experience. I'm impressed. Just had to share the experience.
MacBook - 4H621 - 2.0 Gbyte RAM, Parallels VM,   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   G4 Tower, Atari ST with Mac Plus emulator, Dell 8400 Tower, Dell D600 laptop

Hook up an external keyboard, hook up the monitor, put the computer to sleep.
Next time try plugging in the monitor without putting the MB to sleep. It will automatically recognize and adjust.
I was a bit surprise as I tried mine with a projector a couple of days ago. I thought I would have to go into the Display prefs before the new monitor was available, or at least hit the F7 key.
As soon as the last connection was made the MB instantly switched to 1027x768 and the image appeared on the projector. One hit of F7 and I had dual display working for doing keynote slides on the big screen while having notes and timers on the MB screen.
    Pretty sweet.

  • HOW DO I USE 'SPRY MENU BAR?'

Please i need an indept explanation of how to use spry to create menu bars to my satisfaction. Your useful information shall be highly appreciation. Thanks!

Spry menus have been deprecated and, if you are using an older version of Spry, it will not work on Mobile!
    So don't.
You can do drop-down menus with rollover effects and everything simply by using straight HTML and CSS. You do have to know HTML and CSS though. Another great way to simply use a plugin is to go to Project Seven and buy their system (there are others out there, but the guys at PVII are particularly crafty and their menu systems work with all browsers, including the really bad Microsoft ones).
Here is a link to a tutorial that will show you how to do a straight HTML and CSS3 dropdown menu yourself.
