External operation storage location

Hi,
I am generating a purchase requisiton for an external operation from a production order. This purchase req is a std purchase req and account assignment is F (production order). The line item does not have a storage location due to which the ME59N fails. Does anyone know how I can get the strorage location for this external operation purchase req to populate and how I can get the ME59N to work for purchase reqs of these kinds ?
Thanks

Hello
I'd like to suggest you to read carefully the following note:
503497 - Subcontracting and MRP areas
The following information provided on this note confirms that the storage location is not necessary for subcontracting, therefore, this field is empty:
The most important point to understand the system behavior is the fact that the withdrawal of the (subcontracting) component is generally carried out during the goods receipt for an SC procurement proposalfrom the subcontractor stock that is managed at plant level from an inventory management point of view and that has no reference to a storage location at all.
This causes that subcontractor requirements can never enter a storage location MRP area, since you can later not post the withdrawal from this MRP area.
Thus SC-requirements always enter the SC segment of the plant MRP area or the SC-MRP area.
The SC MRP area in turn is supplied by stock transfer reservations from the plant MRP area or via third-party order processing through procurement proposals with goods receipt directly to the subcontractor. A supply through the materials planning from a storage location MRP area is not possible.
For the above reason, SC-requirements do also not carry any storage location, since the storage location does not have any control function at all for SC-requirements:
You cannot and you should not determine a storage location MRP area (see above), and the subcontractor MRP area is determined via the vendor of the procurement proposal, thus it is independent of the storage location.
See also Note 376050 on this topic that makes a modification available which prevents the deletion of the storage location in the subcontractor requirements, so that you can use, for example, customer-specific reports to analyze the storage location.
You may consider the modification from note 376050, which prevents the deletion of the storage location from the subcontracting requirements, however, this is generally only relevant for displaying the storage location and this is not used for processing the item.

  • Storage location field in service PR

    Hi,
I am not able to find the storage location field in service PR generated through PS. This field is available for material component but not for external activity with service.
Actully i have a project which have multiple storage location thats why i need that field for external service PR

    Hi,
there is no need of storage location for external services.
    storage location:
storage location at which the material is stored.

  • Storage location in Purchase requisition

Hello, I have a MRP area type storage location and i cannot have a storage location in the purchase req when the requirement is coming from this storage location.  When converting to PO, the storage location is populated from mrp area data.
In MRP area I have external procurement storage location filled.
    Any ideas what's missing?
    Thanks!

    hi,
When you do MRP at the storage location via using the MRP, then it is meant that PR or Any other document shd be generated for the given storage location...This is because, if there is any shortage at the storage location level, then system will run MRP and will generate document for the required storage location only, but not for the other...
Now if you don't want PR to be generated for the storage location, then you shd directly generated the PO only...

  • EP STORAGE LOCATION

    HI,
in data migration template we have a field called EP storage location, field name LGFSB.  in which tab in material master is this field availabl.e
    regards
    fozters

It is available in MRP2 View, under procurement tab.It is the default storage location for External procurement.
Key of the storage location that is proposed in the purchase requisition in materials planning for subsequent storage of the material. In the case of a material procured externally, this storage location is proposed in the planned order in materials planning.

  • MRP at storage location level with external requirements

    HI,
We have to have reorder point planning at storage location level. Also we need to consider external requirements.
When I am setting storage location MRP indicator as 2 and putting Reorder point and replenishment quantity, then after running MRP it only considers the replenishment quantity but it doesnot consideer any external requirements.
Help me out how to configure the requirement?
    Regards

    Hi,
I think your question is answered by Sarita Doddi.
If you have several storage location for your plant, you cannot plan for them separately unless you assign them to a separate MRP area.
If a storage location (alone) is assigned to an MRP area, it means you wan to plan for it separately. If several storage locations are assigned to an MRP area (or let's say to a plant), it means you want to plan using all of them - and you cannot choose only one and plan for it (you can exclude a SLoc from planning w/o assigning it to MRP area).
So, planning is not SLoc wise, it goes MRP area wise.

  • Moved my library to an external hard drive. Now I get this message when trying to import video: Cannot start ingest because there is no storage location set. Please set one under Storage in Preferences and try again.

I recently moved my iMovie Library and all of its contents to an external hard drive.  I then erased the library and all of its contents from my iMac HD and created a new library.  Now when I try to import video from my DV camera I get this message: Cannot start ingest because there is no storage location set. Please set one under Storage in Preferences and try again.  There is no way to set a storage location in Preferences.  I have chosen an Event in the middle drop down box.  But it still will not import.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

My iTunes library is set up the way I said in the top post and works totally fine.
Yes, and that is the default structure to which I was referring.  iTunes will organize it that way automatically unless people do start changing settings (in which case they should know what they are doing and how iTunes works with library files and media structure.)
Both ways work, the advantages of mine would be that should iTunes try looking fo a library, it will always be in the default location.
It makes people think they have to change media location in preferences.  They do not unless they want to relocate media only and leave other things on their internal drive (in which case there is no point in copying library files to the external, and you certainly wouldn't want to then delete them from your internal).
Downside is that then should someone move their iTunes library to anther computer they need to remember to get those library files on the external hard drive.
Just copy the whole iTunes folder and it will get the library files to the other drive in one step, along with all the other files.
Your post has good stuff but it makes a move appear intimidating and look like people have to do a lot of organizing to move the collection.  It also throws in  extra steps (namely altering preference settings) that could cause confusion or even make a mess of things.  If people leave iTunes to default preference settings (which most people do) the move summarizes into a short line:  Copy a folder and hold an extra button the next time you start iTunes.
Note that the instructions in the link I provided earlier do also include many steps, but those are to ensure that everybody does have it all organized correctly before simply copying the iTunes folder.  In the end it is just a simple action.

  • How to change the storage location in Lightroom 3.6.?

How to change the storage location in Lightroom 3.6.?
I use my internal hard drive NTFS of my MacBook Pro  as my storage location of Lightroom 3.6. being installed in Snow Leopard now but the data of my photos get too big now. I have two fast and big external hard drives eSATA now which I want to use for my data/photos. I know how to copy the data from one hard drive to another but I don't know how to change the settings in connection with Lightroom easily. I still want to watch all fotos on my MacBook Pro but don't want to save any fotos on my internal harddrive any more. Isn't it possible to have the programm Lightroom on my internal harddrive but the data on two times on two different extermal hard drives? If I look at Lightroom - settings of catalogue - I see that the internal harddrive location is my storage location now but I my two external harddrives don't appear as folders. Why? How to change that so that the external hard drives appear in Lightroom and I can watch all my fotos immediately (sometimes using external hard drive 1 and sometimes using external hard drive 2)?
My external hard drives are in HFS+ but I use the software of Paragon so that there shouldn't be any problem to read and write the data (I use also Final Cut Express so my external hard drives are HFS+ and not NTFS).
I want to impert many data from CDs - should I copy the fotos first to my external hard drive and then import it into Lightroom or is it easier to import the data directly from the CD in Lightroom so that I don't have to name the folders two times?
I see that I have to sort the fotos from the CDs in new different folders and an used to do that in Finder of my MacBookPro. In Lightroom I don't want have to click each of hundreds of fotos to be able to put it into the right folders ... But how to import only a part of a CDs quickly into the right (newly created) folders?
    Kind regards, Karin

Would you really leave the names of photos like DSC05271.ARW and DSC05271.jpeg etc.?
What if I name them f.i. like ...
    2013-09-11_Austria_1_mountain.jpeg
    2013-09-11_Austria_2_mountain.jpeg
    2013-09-11_Austria_3_valley.jpeg
I would NOT do this. I would not change the file name.
I would add keywords and other metadata to the photos to identify the content of the photos, and from that point on, I would use keywords and other metdata to search for these photos.
However, let's look at the big picture. I think there are three different methods of organizing
Organize via keywords and other metadata, and not via operating system constructs such as file name and folder name
Organize via operating system constructs such as file name and folder name, and not via keywords and other metadata
Some combination of 1 and 2
You can choose any one of the three methods above, the choice is yours. I am a very strong believer that for most people (and it sounds like you are one of those people), method 1 is the best method. However, not everyone agrees.
There are drawbacks to using file names to identify your photos. One big drawback is that you must type the information into each photo's name, and this is more tedious than if you wanted to assign the keyword "mountain" to the photos, you can assign the keyword to multiple photos at once. Also, if you mis-spell the information in the file name on any photo, you have just made the photo much harder to find; whereas in Lightroom, the keyword can be assigned via a mouse click (so you can't mis-spell it), or by typing the first few letters and Lightroom (auto-fill) will find the correct keyword name. So using keywords is a much simpler way to go.
.. is this much too complicated to do that in Lightroom or even dangerous to got lost of photos?
It is very simple to add keywords, as I explained for this case. Create keywords "Austria", "Mountain", "Valley"; then select the desired photos, and then click on the check box next to the keyword name. It is much more complicated in my opinion to rename the photos in this manner.
There is less danger in doing this via keywords than the danger doing this via file names, because of potential mis-spellings.
If I spend a lot of time in editing photos (in Lightroom or Photoshop) I don't want that I loose those photos f.i. later if Lightroom won't be the software I use regarding the photos (in 10, 20 years?!)
Lightroom will OPTIONALLY write your keywords and other metadata to the files (or sidecar files in the case of RAW). Every photographic application I know of (and I'm sure those in the future) can read the keywords and other metadata. So if you ever want to switch to some other software, your keywords and other metadata are available. you can turn this option on via Edit->Catalog Settings->Metadata, check Automatically Write Changes to XMP.
So I have to create two folders - one with the originals and one with the edited exported photos?
No, you do not have to create two folders. You don't have to export everything, but if you do, you can put the exports wherever you want, including putting them in the same folder as the originals, with different name.
Why not edit them in Photoshop and save them in the second folder which I import later in Lightroom? Because it takes longer?
Wow, you really need to think about: Why are you using Lightroom?
Could you explain this to me? Why are you using Lightroom?
If your goal is to edit the photos in Photoshop, and then put them in folders with whatever custom name you want to give them, then what is the benefit of using Lightroom? You can do all of this WITHOUT Lightroom. You keep explaining that your intended goal is to use Photoshop and folders/file names, and this is a goal which AVOIDs all benefits of Lightroom. I can't understand what you think the benefits of using Lightroom are for you.
It is starting to sound to me like Lightroom is not the right software for you.

  • How can I find Bitlocker External Key File location?

My Windows 8.1 PC includes a system drive and data drives. All the drivers were encrypted using Bitlocker with the data drives set for autounlock.
I recently decrypted the system drive (without decrypting the data drives) and reinstalled the OS, after which my data drives required the Bitlocker recovery key to unlock.
However, I had "backed up" the recovery keys to my Microsoft account but now I can find only the recovery keys for the system drive. The recovery keys for the data drives cannot be found on my Microsoft account.
I have tried to use the "manage-bde" command at the console to obtain the recovery password but I am only getting the Numerical Password ID and the External Key File Name. Can anyone provide advice on how I can retrieve the passwords or the
    External Key File location?
    Thanks.

    Hi Ridgewood,
As my point of viewer, the BitLocker Automatic unlock volume is also protected by BitLocker Disk Encryption. The user encrypted information is stored in the registry and volume metadata. After a user unlocks the operating system volume, BitLocker uses the
encrypted information to unlock the data volume automatically.
After the reinstallation of the system, the encrypted information is lost and BitLocker can’t unlock the data volume automatically.
Every volume has own recovery key.
As mentioned in your post, the data drive require the recovery key to unlock.
I suggest you to double-check the OneDrive and try to find out where did you store the recovery key.
If you can’t find the recovery key, we can’t help you to decrypt the data volume.

  • Storage Location Naming Convention without WM!

    Dear all
We are facing serious problem in our Storage Location for Raw Material.
We have 4 types of Raw Material Seating (S), Panel (P), Metal (M), Wood (W). And they are all stored under Storage Location: RWSL.
    Requirement:
Although we have visual guideline as to which industrial rack will store the type of Material, it is insufficient. We need a more refined storage location down to which BIN of the rack we will put the Raw Material.
Due to limited time and resource, we cannot have WM implemented right now. Thus, we have come out with 2 alternative to overcome this problem:
    Alternative 01:
We will use the Fixed Bin field in Storage Data 02 by putting the Bin number assigned to each Rack.
E.g. For Seating material code:SEAT01, we will maintain the Fixed Bin as R12A01/A02, it means this Seating material SEAT01 will be stored at Rack 12, fixed bin A01 or A02.
Question to Alternative 01: Will it cause problem in GR, GR, Transfer Posting and Stock Count?
    Alternative 02:
Instead of going into details to put Fixed Bin field in Storage Data 2, we will abandan the existing Storage Location RMSL by introducing new format for Storage Location
Here is the example of Alternative 02:
For raw materials, we will use 4 digits location numbers, consistent with other Storage locations, the 4 digits storage location will start with u201CR _ _ _u201D to represent each location
    And,
    R _ _ _ is:
    R = Raw materials
    2nd digit = Division (S= Seating, P =Panel, W=Wood, M=Metal and W=Wood)
    3rd digit = Rack Number (A, B, C, Du2026 and etc.)
4th digit = Rack Zone - each rack will broken down into zone, each rack can possibility have 2 to 3 zone. 1 Zone can be 1 colume of the Rack
An example of a possible location and its meaning will be
RSA1 = Raw materials warehouse, Seating division, Rack A, Zone 1
RPB3 = Raw materials warehouse, Panel Division, Rack B, Zone 3
The challenge of this is that instead of having 1 Raw Material Storage Location like RMSL, we will have a lot more storage locations each for division of Raw material due to the Rack Number we have as well as the Rack Zone.
    Question to Alternative 02:
If we use this alternative, will it impact our future implementation of WM? From design wise, is it feasible?
Please advise what is the best approach and the feasible design on it.
    Many thanks in advance.

Hi, here is the Pro and Co of both approaches:
Method 01: Use existing SLOC and add the Storage Bin info
    e.g. SLOC: STM1
             Storage Bin: RSC3, where RS = Rack Seating, C3 = column 3
    Pro 01:
It will cause less effort as we only need to use LSMW for material master to add in the Storage Bin data for all material of SCM.
    Pro 02:
I have tested out that in TCode MIGO, apart from SLOC, the pertaining Storage Bin data also appear.  Based on my discuss with Xian Chen, sometimes they use MB1C(GR), MB1A(GI) rather than MIGO due to speed issue, I will need to check the field status if can have Storage Bin field APPEAR, if can, it will solve the problem
    Con 01:
The Storage Bin information will only appear in MMBE (Stock Overview) but will not appear in the standard SAP Inventory Report (e.g. MB52 Warehouse Stock). To view it from SAP Inventory Report, we may need to customize the standard report to show the new field Storage Bin. It needs Abap effort.
    Con 02:
We must have a very good naming convention for Storage Bin. And again, in the above example, if a material is put in SLOC STM1 at Storage Bin RA A1 or C4, it will set a very rigid rule in the future if we need to change it, as I fear that one the Storage Bin has been used up. It will not allow us to change (need to do testing to find out)
    Con 03:
Do we have the time to define all the Storage Bin for each SLOC? Operation wise, the store personnel needs to design it
Method 02: Use the new SLOC
    Pro 01:
RSA1 = Raw materials warehouse, Seating division, Rack A, Zone 1. More organized. Easy to tell the material is at which  Rack and which Zone of the Rack.
    Assumption:
    01. we must not have too many rack for one Seating division and also not too many Zone for each
Division, else it will cause confusion
    02. 1 material should stick to 1 Rack 1 zone as much as possible, else later the PP consultant will
have hard to to perform GI due to too many SLOC assigned to a material.
    Pro 02:
In report wise, we are able to show the SLOC in inventory report. No need to enhance the existing inventory report as we do not use Storage Bin.
    Con 01:
If there are too many SLOC creation due to it. It may cause problem for PP perform GI as too many selection available for a material. This can be avoided if stick to the General Rule that one material is tied with one SLOC.

  • LTP excludes materials with MRP indicator of storage location

    Hi All,
SAP Note 208017 explains the reason for LTP not taking into account the MRP
indicator of a storage location for a material. Has anyone tried a work around for this issue?
<b>We basically are looking for a snapshot of operative MRP a week back from current date</b> and I thought LTP can be used, but it plans at the plant stock level. Since we have service inventory managed at storage location level and its exculded in operative MRP, we cant have consistent results with LTP being used for my purpose.
    Any inputs appreciated
    Thanks

    Hi,
    1. I dont think we should use the LTP Forthe purpose of your requriement
    2. Since i think you will be runing the MRP at certain frequency say daily, weekly etc
    3. LTP is a strong functionality for the forward planning , which means for a medium or long term in the forward direction
    4. For the purpose of snap shot we shouldnot use this ...
may be pp gurus in the forum will be giving  us some reply which you are looking for

  • Outbound Delivery and Storage Location

    hey everybody,
    this is our status quo:
we create a outbound delivery based on a sales order & at the end of the creation of the delivery we are doing the goods issue immediately to do the material movement. we do that, because we need a material document for the physical packer in the storage. at the start of the physical packing he gives this material document to the person in the warehouse and this person picks the needed material.
we need a solution for our new scenario:
in the future we want use handling units within deliverys. in these HU's we want to pack the material included in the delivery note.
    here are the steps:
    1. outbound delivery creation
    2. we need a material movement (material document) from one storage location (A) to an other storage location (B)
    3. the packer is packing the material physical and within SAP in the new created handling units
    4. when the packing operation is finished, the packer gives information to SD person and the goods issue will be done. material movement will be done from the storage location (B).
does anyone has an idea for us?
another information: we don't want to do the material movement manually
    best regards & TIA
    chris

    Dear,
As per standard SAP , once you assign the storage location in OUTBOUND DELIVERY, system will tend to pick the storage location assigned to it.
But as per your client requirement, you need to do the transfer posting from one storage location to other storage location and then you would like to post the "Goods issue" from the new storage location.
If it has to be done, you need to update the "Outbound delivery"  with new storage location before posting the  goods issue.
Is there any business advantage with this new process,If  so i can suggest you one work around if you are doing transfer posting with respect to "Each out bound delivery"
    Details  as Follows:
    Step-1:
While transferring the stock from one storage location to other storage location(Movement type:311 single step), mention the out bound delivery number in "Document header text" or "Material Slip".
    Step-2:
Then take a report of those transfer posting documents and then update all the outbound deliveries for new storage location. To update in mass, you can set BDC with the help of ABAPER
    Step:3
    Then do "Post goods issue".

  • IDOC inbound: delivery confirm - set storage location at position

    Hi all,
I have the issue to set with an inbound IDOC for shipping confirmation the storage location on item level. We are working with an external logistic provider so the final storage location where the goods are taken from is not not at creation time of the delivery. We have two possible storage locations.
EDI message type SDPICK cannot be used, there is no place for the storage location information LGORT.
So we tried SHPCON with process code DELV. FM: IDOC_INPUT_DELVRY
The field is in the IDOC type DELVRY03 but it is not used.
Do you have any idea how we could set the storage location on item level in the delivery with an incoming shipping / picking confirmation idoc?
    Thanx a lot
    regards
    Hans

used a userexit in the inbound function module to get the IDOC field to the internal tables.

  • Excluding storage location from MRP run in Long Term Planning

    Hi,friends,
In my scenario , i want to exclude storage location from MRP run in long term planning. When i set storage location MRP indicator "2" in SPRO and SLoc MRP indicator "1" MRP4 in material master, i can exclude the storage location after run MRP with MD01/MD02,and i can see the expected result in MD04.But in Long Term Planning scenario the storage location can not be excluded after run MRP with MS01/MS02,and the requirements list in MS04 include the stock in the storage location i want to exclude. i dont know if i miss something.Plz give me some advice.
    Regards
    Joey

    Hi,
Refer the OSS Note 208017 - LTP: Long-term planning and storage locations
    ==========================================================================
    Symptom
In long-term planning (Transactions MSBT / MS01 / MS02 / MS03), the MRP indicator of a storage location for a material is not taken into account (material master, view MRP 2 [up to and including Release 3.1I] or MRP 4 [as of Release 4.0A]).
The storage locations excluded by MRP or planned separately are also planned in the plant segment.
    Additional key words
LTP, MM01, MM02, MM03, master data, MRP indicator, LGORT ...
    Cause and prerequisites
The MRP indicator for a certain storage location of a material is only taken into account in operative planning (requirements planning, MRP).
The long-term planning occurs exclusively at plant level.
    Solution
This is no error. The system works as intended.
The individual storage locations should not be distinguished in the long-term planning, in order to perform a comprehensive long-term planning.
This is important, for example, within the kanban processing where the storage locations with kanban MRP are excluded from the MRP, but in spite of that should be included in the long-term planning.

  • How can I include the minimum stock of storage location in the mrp run.

    Hi all,
I have in plant 1030 storage location 1001 and 1006.
    MRP1  Lot Size = EX
               MRP type = PD
               Reorder Point = 5
    MRP2  Safety Stock = 5
MRP4 for 1001 is not filled
    MRP4 for 1006 Sloc MRP Ind = 2
                             Reorder point = 2
                             Replenishment qty = 3
If no stock and I run the mrp I get
a PurRqs for 8 with a automatic MtlRes of 3 going to storage loc 1006
If I create a reservation in 1006 for 10 units and run the MRP again
a PurRqs for 15 with a MtlRes of 10 going to storage loc 1006.
I want the result to be PurRqs for 18 with a MtlRes of 13 going to storage loc 1006.
10 for the reservation and 3 to fill storage loc 1006 with the replenishment qty.
    How can I acheive this?
    Best Regards!
    Curtis

    Hello Curtins
Please observe what is stated on question 6 of FAQ note 550954, regarding storage locations planned separately:
    6. Question:
A storage location should be planned separately. Is it possible to
        consider external requirements?
        Answer:
No. The storage location MRP is a very simple reorder point planning
procedure, during which only reorder point and replenishment
quantity are defined. More complex settings can be implemented via
        storage location MRP areas.
Therefore, I'd suggest you to use MRP areas to map this scenario.

  • MD04 - Subreq - Storage location MRP area

    Hi all,
I have an issue of Subreq in MD04 which is not assigned to the the good MRP area.
    I'm explaining :
    Business process
       -> I work with a subcontractor
case 1 : either I buy raw material to be processed and delivered it directly to my subcontractor
case 2 : either I send raw material from my physical stock to my subcontractor
-> I create subcontracting purchase order with indication as components, the raw material.
-> In case of the components are already in my subcontractor (case 1), the reservation (Subreq) should not consume my physical stock.
-> In case of the components are in my physical stock (case 2), the reservation (Subreq) should consume the physical stock.
    Solution choosen
Then I decided to create a storage location MRP area : "EXTERN" as External.
I assigned a storage location "EXT" to this MRP area.
I assigned this MRP area to the material in MRP1 / MRP Area.
In the purchase order, in the components popup,
For case 1 :  I assigned "EXT" as Prod.Stor.Loc and Supply area
For case 2 : nothing special is filled

For the case 1, althought I assigned the storage location "EXT", the Subcontractor Requirement is not attached to the good MRP area.
    WHY?
Remark : I didn't use the subcontracting MRP area because I would like to have 2 cases : case 1 & case 2.
Thank you in advance for your help about this problem which make me nervous !

    Hello Catherine
Your system is working as designed. The following note explains the system design in more detail:
503497 - Subcontracting and MRP areas
Take a look on the relevant information provided by this note below:
    Reason and Prerequisites
Please observe that the mentioned modification note 376050 only makes the storage location available on table RESB, so that you can use it on custom report. This modification will not make the storage location to be considered by MRP or on MD04.
