External outlook clients can't connect to Exchange 2013

Currently running server 2012 r2 and exchange 2013 sp1...
Internally everything works fine, clients can also connect externally to owa/ecp. However when using an outlook client they are unable to connect. This is my first experience with exchange 2013 so I am at a loss. What steps should I be following to get this
working properly? Or if anyone has some suggestions to get more information I can do that as well.
Thanks!
Connecting from a mobile-phone using mail.mail.com works fine.

  • Outlook client can't connect in but OWA works

You need to make sure your OutlookAnywhere and AutoDiscover settings are setup properly along with Split-DNS. OutlookAnywhere and Split-DNS are vital for future-proofing your Exchange configuration and making it work properly now, regardless if you use Exchange 2007, 2010, or 2013. For Exchange 2013, OutlookAnywhere is a requirement and Split-DNS is Best Practice. If you are on Exchange 2007 or 2010, and you do not have OutlookAnywhere enabled, enable OutlookAnywhere and follow this guide. You should always use NTLM over Basic authentication, as Basic sends the username and password in the clear, and NTLM is Windows Authentication. On Exchange 2013, you also have a new option called Negotiate, which is recommended. As you follow this guide, you will set the ClientAuthenticationMethod (Internal and External if on Exchange 2013) to NTLM...

    Hi,
According to your description, I understand that Outlook client cannot connect to Exchange server 2013 while one member of DAG failed.
If I have misunderstand your concern, please do not hesitate to let me know.
I want to double confirm whether all account store in MBX1 experience this issue, users in MBX2 works fine.
Please run following command to double check the database status:
    Get-MailboxDatabase –Status | select Name,Mounted,MountedOnServer
If it works in OWA, the issue may be related to Outlook side. Please run “Test E-mail AutoConfiguration” and “Outlook Connection Status” to get more details, expecial the setting of proxy server, it’s more helpful

    Hi,
Did you get any error messages?
Do you have Outlook Anywhere and autodiscovery set up properly?
Can you ping the Exchange server?
    Please use Test Email AutoConfiguration

  • Unbale to install November update on Outlook 2007 SP3 for connecting to Exchange 2013

    Hi
I was trying to upgrade my outlook 2007 clients for connecting to Exchange 2013 environment. First I have installed Office SP3 (kb2526086). Outlook version after that is 12.0.6607.1000. Later I  tried to install nNovember 2012 update which is a
prerequisite for connecting to Exchange 2013 clients (support.microsoft.com/kb/2687404/en-us) but it shows me a message "Expected version of the product was not found on the system". No idea  how to proceed now, expecting help.

  • Outlook 2007 - single profile connecting to Exchange 2013 / 2007 mailboxes

    Hi,
I am in the early part of a migration from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013. So far I have 2013 installed and running in a DAG and just moved my own mailbox to the new server.
I set up a new profile in Outlook 2007 which connects to my mailbox on Exchange 2013. The problem is that I need to add additional mailboxes to my profile which are still hosted on Exchange 2007, however this is not working.
I thought at one stage I tested this and was able to get it work with a test mailbox also hosted on Exchange 2013.. but maybe I never did.
Does anyone know if this is possible at all (single Outlook profile, primary mailbox hosted on Exchange 2013 and other mailboxes on Exchange 2007). Most of our users have an additional mailbox mapped in their profile so I hope there is some way around this.
    Thank you!

    Hi,
It is possible to open a shared mailboxes on a legacy server.
Your problem could be caused by:
Not having one of the later CU installed (read CU4 or CU5)
Incorrect authentication methods configured (see link below)
Outlook is not at the latest patch level
Users of Exchange Server 2013 can't open public folders or shared mailboxes on an Exchange 2010 or Exchange 2007 server

  • DNS name expired, Outlook on clients can't connect to exchange anymore

    Dear forum people,
We have a pro account with dyndns that kept all the dns names in check. The credit card that paid for this had expired and that wiped the DNS names we had on there. After contacting the US customer service after alot of hastle, I got a salesman on the line
that promised us that if i resubscribed for the ProAccount with a new credit card he would fix this. So I renewed but ofc the DNS names never came back. Typical me being so naïve that a salesman would take care of us after we had paid.
    Problem:
The Outlook on the laptops can't connect to the exchange server.
    1. I get a message box from outlook saying:
"autodiscover.(DomainName).be - information you exchange with this site cannot be viewed or changed by others. However, there is a problem with the site's security certificate.
GOOD - the security certificate is from a trusted certifying authority
GOOD - the security certificate date is valid
NOT GOOD - the name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site"
    +'disconnected'
    Question:
I have no prior knowledge of Email mechanics but i'm pretty sure I just need to reinstate the correct dns name + settings of the dns name so the connection can be made again with the exchange server. Any suggestions where I should start finding out what
    the settings should be like?
§1 I'm pretty sure the emails are routed over the website which is somewhere else
§2 I did not set up the DNS names myself
§3 I have an amature IT background

  • Outlook can't connect with Exchange 2013 after migration from Exchange 2007

    <style type="text/css">P { margin-bottom: 0.21cm; }</style>
    Hello,
recently we've done a Exchange 2007 sp3 to 2013 sp1. Users can conect perfectly with OWA and with his iphone clients.
But the problem is they can't connect from his Outlook clients (2010, 2013), both internaly and externaly. Always fails with the message: The Connection to Exchange it is not avaliable.... Can't resolve the name of Exchange server.
To try to resolve it we've done:
    - Check Outlook anywhere configuration en EAC: it is configure with and external url mail.company.com and internal server.domain.local. The security is the default Negociation, but we've tried all.
    - Check the internal dns, there are records for mail.company.com and exchangeserverdomain.local pointing to the exchange local ip. Also there is a public zone company.com with the record mail.caompany.com pointing to the exchange local ip. Also we've made
records autodiscover.company.com and autodiscover.domain.local pointing to the exchange local ip.
    - In the public dns from our domain there is the record A and MX pointing our public ip. There aren't any record Autodiscover but we think that the manial conection should work.
Check certificates: we've made a new self-signed certificate including all this internal and external domains and for all services.
    - Check Outlook Anywhere block: we've cheked.
    Currently server state:
    - Old Exchange 07 server can't start, it was in very bad state and we achieved migrate the mailbox to the new server, after that we tried to uninstall, but it crashes with a public folder replication error. We got uninstall all the roles
unless the mailbox. After a restart it can't start.
-The new Exchange 2013 looks great, there isn't any trail of the old server, or we haven't seen anything in the EAC or shell.
I paste below the result of Microsoft Remote conectivity analaizer, with Outlook anywhere test. It is clear that there is a problem with that.
Sorry because the test is in spanish and I translated it with google, from here I only can access the tool in spanish.
We continue to try to resolve the problem.
    Thanks to all in advance!

  • Outlook 2013 can't connect to Exchange 2013 SP1

    Hello,
I've already asked that question on Exchange 2013, now I'd like to ask it again in regard to Exchange 2013 SP1.
The question i s very easy: suppose I have just installed Exchange 2013 SP1 (in a Win2012 R2 domain)  with three mailboxes (user1, user2, user3). I can successfully run ecp and owa for all users...
...but when I'm starting Outlook 2013 and trying to set up a profile manually, for example, [email protected], Exchange 2013 Sp1 keeps saying "Outlook can't log on...The name cannot be resolved."
In Exchange 2013 this could be fixed by adding the server's ip address to its Hosts file, but I thought it was a bug and it would be corrected later or sooner... Now the same problem with Exchange 2013SP1...
Would anybody please tell me is there anything special I must do to connect to Exchange 2013SP1 via Outlook 2013 (not Outlook 2013SP1 - without MAPI over HTTP)??? If yes what articles can I read about it?
    Thank you in advance,
    Michael

    Hi,
When we automatically configure the account, Autodiscover service will help Outlook find the new type and we don't need to run the command to get the mailbox GUID until we manually configure the profile.
For more information, you can refer to the following article:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124251(v=exchg.150).aspx
"Through the Autodiscover service, Outlook finds a new connection point made up of the user’s mailbox GUID + @ + the domain portion of the user’s primary SMTP address."

  • Outlook Anywhere can't Connect to Exchange

Background: We are use Windows Server 2003R2, Exchange 07 and Outlook 10/13, We have setup ABC.com for the AD domain and setup email. It works and functional in both OWA & Outlook Anywhere in branch office. Later setup another domain XYZ.com in
same exchange server. Both email domain are workable in using OWA & Outlook Anywhere in branch office. (Can't use VPN)
Because of company issue, the ABC.com has change the Name Server and will point to other IP address. The pervious setting in branch office for Outlook as below:
    Server: exchange.abc.com
    Exchange Proxy: htps://mail.abc.com
    Exchange Server Public IP: 202.xxx.23.2
For all using outlook email @XYZ.com that can't connect to server, but OWA is workable. They can type
    https://mail.xyz.com/owa or
https://202.xxx.23.2/owa to login to exchange server for send & receive email. And Ive use a stupid method to temporary fix this issue for using Outlook, we have add "mail.abc.com  202.xxx.23.2" & "exchange.abc.com 192.168.1.200"
to local PC host file. Then it can connect to exchange by Outlook.
But this not the best way, because it can't work on iPhone, iPad & Android mobile device.
Please suggest the best way to fixed this issue for long-term running. Thousand Thanks.

  • IPhone 7 & 8 can't connect to Exchange 2013 CU5

I am getting call from users with iPhone and iPads that can't connect to our Exchange 2013 server. They get a error that the server can't be found. I can take the same account and run Microsoft online connectivity test and it passes. They don't have problem
with Outlook. Just the iPhone and iPads.

The error message I get is Exchange Account “Unable to verify account information”.  This appears after the first screen that I guess you would call the autodiscovery screen if I click on that I am left on the auto discovery screen until I click cancel
I don’t advance to a screen that allows me to type the server or anything.  I did the first time or two get the advanced setup screen that allowed me to type in a server but after that It wouldn’t take me to that screen again.

"The action cannot be completed. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action."
I have verified all Exchange and mail security settings. Outlook configuration is not the problem.
    I tried deleting %appdata%\microsoft\outlook and %localappdata%\microsoft\outlook.
I tried a repair on Microsoft Office.
I tried creating a new Mail profile for a different email account.
The only thing that has fixed this problem is a completely new Windows user profile, which tells me there is something else broken in the user profile. Does anyone have any idea what it might be?

    Hi,
Please try to access Exchange via OWA.
This issue may occur when the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders registry key does not contain all of the required data. Specifically, these problems occur if the AppData string value is missing from this
    registry key.
To resolve this issue, import the User Shell Folders registry key from a working Windows User Profile.
Steps to perform on a working computer
Start Registry Editor. Click Start , type regedit in the Search programs and files box, and then press Enter.
Locate and then select the following registry subkey: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
On the File menu, click Export.
Specify the name of the .reg file and then click Save.
Copy the .reg file to the computer exibiting this problem.
    Close Registry Editor.
Steps to perform on the computer displaying the above error(s)
    Start Registry Editor.
On the File menu click Import.
Locate and select the .reg file exported from the working computer.
    Click Open.
    Close Registry Editor.
    Best Regards.

  • On Windows 2012 Terminal Server Outlook fails to connect to Exchange 2013

I have a new install of Windows 2012.  I have two physical servers.  One is a W2012 std Domain Controller ("DC").  The Second is configured as W2012 HyperV  ("HV").  Under HV I have
two VMs.  One VM is W2012/Exchange 2013 ("ExchVM) and the other is W2012/Terminal Server ("VMTS").  All systems are behind a firewall appliance.  Exchange is working via Outlook and OWA internally and externally.  The self
created SSL must be installed manually on external machines since it comes up as an untrusted certificate.  Once installed remote outlook works and OWA works.  I have configured the terminal server and I am able
to login remotely as various users under my "TS group".  The problem is when ever I attempt to open Outlook for the 1st time, it fails to connect to the exchange server.   (Open Outlook 2013, click next
on the splash screen, "Yes" Add an Email Account splash screen, click next, Auto Account screen populates NAME and Email Address correctly, click next, Searching for mail server settings..., check on establishing network connection, check on searching
for alias@ domain, then fails the logging on to the mail server)  The error reads:  "Outlook cannot log on.  Verify you are connected to the network and are using the proper server and mailbox name.  The
connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable.  Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action."   I am connected in RDS from offsite, and from the RD session I can access shared folders on ExchVM and DC.  I have
tried have verified the server Exchange server name is correct via "Get=ClientAccessServer" command.  I have also tried to use the guid via "Get-Mailbox
ALIAS | fl name, exchangeguid.  Keep in mind all desktop users on the network are connecting to Outlook without issue.
I would appreciate any thoughts on solving this issue.

    Hi,
According to your workaround, it seems that the Outlook Anywhere configuration in Outlook client is not correct when using the Autodiscover service.
Once you connected to Exchange server by manually settings, please run Test E-mail AutoConfiguration tool in external Outlook client to check the autodiscover service:
open Outlook - press CTRL key - right click on the Outlook icon from right bottom corner taskbar - Test Email AutoConfiguration. Put your email address - uncheck use guessmart and secure guessmart authentication - click Test to check your Autodiscover service.
Please check the Log tab and confirm whether the Autodiscover service is connected successfully. Also confirm if the connection issue happens to all external users when they open Outlook for the 1st time. In Exchange server, please make sure
autodiscover.domain.com has been included in your Exchange certificate which is assigned with IIS service.
