External Photo Editing from LR4 in PSE10 Editor.exe

I have just upgraded LR3 to LR4 and now find that I cannot use the photo external editing feature (in PSE 10 Editor.exe in my case).   All I get is 'Unexpected error performance command:bad argument #1 to 'lower' (string expected, got nil)'.   Any ideas as to what the problem is here?   This worked OK in LR3.

Fixed problem by downloading Lightroom 4.1 RC.

  • Edit from LR4 into PSE10 not working

I'm pretty sure I have my LR4 settings correct, when I click edit in PSE10, PSE10 opens but no photo transfers over with it

Please ensure that PSE Editor exe is chosen as external editing app as shown in this screenshot-
If this is correct, which type of file are you sending for edit? Does that file open in PSE Editor when opened ouotside of LR?
    Thanks

  • Why can't I access external edit from LR4 (still OK in LR3)

I just upgraded from LR3 to LR4 and find that external editing does not work (Develop Module - Photo - Edit In). Nothing happens, no virtual copy is created and the externa; application does not launch. I have checked the external edit setup in LR Preferences and these are correct.
LR3 however continues to work correctly - saving a tiff and opening the external editor.
Is this a bug in LR4?

  • When moving from LR4 to PSE9 editor my photos look very different

I've recently bought lightroom 4 which I'm using with elements 9 and I know that lightroom 4 will slightly alter the look of photos previously edited in elements which hasn't been a problem so far.  My problem is that photos edited in lightroom/develop look completely different - unusably diiferent in fact - when I move them to elements/editor from lightroom.  What am I doing wrong?  The photos were moved using 'Ctrl +E' or 'Photo/Edit In/Edit in Adobe Photoshop Elements'.
I decided to check the photos that had been edited in lightroom by going into elements/editor via via elements/organiser and they were fine - only slightly different - but then when I opened the lightroom/library again I got a warning exclamation mark 'Error writing metadata' (not the warning exclamation mark 'Update to current Process (2012)' that you get in lightroom develop).
Am I missing something in the 'Edit Photo With Adobe Photoshop Elements' dialog box?
man thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for the replies - I think I've got it working now
My photos are all RAW but the problem also occurred with jpg and psd files
I've worked my way through all the options in the 'edit in adobe photoshop elements' dialog box and this is what happens when the photos are sent from lightroom to elements:
    file format:
I'm using psd - but the same problem occurred with tiffs and jpgs
    colour space:
ProPhoto RGB - the colour changes significantly when the photo opens in elements
Adobe RGB (1998) - the colour changes slightly when opened in elements
sRGB - the colour stays virtually the same
    bit depth:
16 bit - I can't add layers to the file that opens in elements
8 bit - seems to work fine in elements
I am therefore sending photos to elements as sRGB 8 bit which seems to be working fine - hopefully there's no reason why I shouldn't be using these settings!

  • Can you sync photo editing from iPhone to Mac

I synced some iPhoto events from my Mac to the new iPhoto app on my iPhone. Then I edited some pictures, red-eye removal and warm/cool balance. Is there a way that the changes to my photo can be copied to iPhoto on my Mac because it doesn't seem to work automatically through syncing.

Connect your iPhone with the cable.
In iTunes, select your phone under Devices and go to the Photos tab on the right.
There you can say "Sync photos from iPhoto" and also select which events you want to sync.
So the photo's sync. But what does NOT sync, is the editing of photo's on your phone, such as red-eye removal.

  • Losing edits from LR4 to CS5

When I go to import photos into PS from lightroom, I am losing my edits.  Not sure what the deal is. I checked the color profile and also proof set up and they seem to be right...
    file://localhost/Users/sandyduryea/Desktop/Screen%20Shot%202012-11-19%20at%207.00.12%20PM. pngfile://localhost/Users/sandyduryea/Desktop/Screen%20Shot%202012-11-19%20at%206.59.57%20 PM.png
Not sure if you can view these screen shots or not.

OK. and when you do that do you see the box that gives you the options of <Render using Lightroom> and <Open anyway>?
You have to select <Render using Lightroom> because CS5 does not have the latest ACR (and it cannot be installed in CS5 either). So, if you want your Lr-edits to show in CS5 you have to let Lr "render" the image, meaning that Lr creates a PSD with your edits and sends it to CS5.

  • Image editing from within DWCS3

    Greetings~
For some reason I can not edit images from within DWCS3. Any time I try to launch the "inhouse" editing tools from the "Properties" pannel I get an error that reads:
"Unable to launch C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Photoshop.exe. Please be sure that this application exsists and that there is enough memory to run it."
The strangest part about it is I have removed Photo Shop from my list of Editors through the Preferences. The only editor that I have in the "Editors" list is Fireworks which is set to Primary).
    Any ideas? Thanks guys/gals!

Which operating system are you on?
Can you launch Fireworks the conventional way, via a shortcut?

You might also ask for help in the Lightroom forum.
What I have found is that when I upgraded from PSE12 to 13, my Lightroom 5.6 still selected PSE12 in the list of external editors. I had to use the preferences menu to select the right PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe in the Program Files/Adobe/Photoshop Elements 13 folder. I got a message stating that Photoshop Elements was already selected as external editor. In that message box, there is a button with the option to 'change anyway', which I did. Now LR correctly opens PSE13 when I choose Edit in Elements.

  • Photos from LR4 cannot be opened in PSE10

    Hi,
I have installed the trial versions of LR 4 and PSE 10 on my macbook. Basically, everything runs smoothly.
I have imported a test directory in my catalog for LR4, where I can access images and edit them.
However, I cannot open and transfer pictures from LR4 by context menu to PSE 10 (menu entry >Foto>edit in>Photoshop Elements).
Opening PSE10 from Finder by context menu works fine. I also configured editing pictures in another program in the LR 4 preferences.
I have tried two versions: the selection of the alias "Photoshop Elements 10", which can be found in / Applications / Adobe Photoshop Elements /.
That did not work. Then I looked into the alias, and I followed the indicated path. This leads to the file "Photoshop Elements Editor," in a subdirectory
of the above folder, / Support Files /. Unfortunately, this did not work either.
Do I miss the correct PSE10 file for the configuration? Or anything else?
    Cheers
    Ralf

AFAIK there were no code changes in this area between XI and DC, Are you doing all your processing on the same platform (Mac) or does the problem manifest when you move encrypted PDF between Mac and Windows. As I recall the problem that I was talking about manifest when encrypted PDFs were moved between platforms. If you do move your PDFs between platforms, then which Acrobat version do you use on which platform? Is it Acrobat DC on both Mac and Windows? On which platform/Acrobat version do you encrypt and on which platform/Acrobat version you try to open?

  • Am I correct that Photos does not support external editors? i.e., in Aperture, I click Photos Edit with.... and can open in Photoshop or various plug-ins. Changes are then automatically saved back to Aperture. Nonexistent in Photos?

Thanks Larry. That certainly gives me some understanding. Can't imagine I'm the only Aperture user with that concern, so I certainly hope Adobe and others will fill the void. Without that feature, Photos is pretty much a non-started for me.

  • CS5 Hangs when editing photo from LR4

Group - I just got off the phone with Adobe support and they indicated this problem is a known problem in LR4 and suggested getting help from the experts at Adobe Labs.
I was part of the LR4 beta test and never experienced this before.
The problem occurs when I try to edit a photo in CS5 from LR4 (using the 'edit in' link) on a Mac.
CS5 opens and then just hangs (my mac indicates that CS5 is not responding) and I have to use 'Force Quit.'
Are there any work-arounds.  The Adobe help center indicated that the 4.1 beta may not have this problem, but they couldn't recommend it.
I tried accessing CS5 from Bridge and that produced the same 'hang' problem.
    Thanks for your help.
    Chris

Wahooo!  I think I found the problem with the hang on choosing submenus.  Thanks Chris and Jeffrey for you rapid responses on this issue.
The source of the slow down is a great little utility of OS X called "RightZoom" by blazingtools.   It's a cool app that lets intercepts clicks in application and folder windows on the expand button and opens the window corner to corner of the screen.  It works well but sometimes does not play nice with application interfaces.  I actually need a better brain cause I had an issue related with Illustrator CS4 and selecting with the direct selection tool.
There are two options to correct the delay:
    1.  Disable Right Zoom.  - you can kill the task using activity monitor, then go to your System Prefs > Accounts > Log in items and remove RightZoom from the list.
    2. You can add Photoshop to the RightZoom application exceptions list.  Kill RightZoom, find the RightZoom app in your applications folder and hold the Command key down, then double click to launch which will open the configuration window.  To add an application to the list of exceptions, it has to be running.  So Launch Photoshop if it is not running and then you will see it as an option to Except.
I am likely just behind the times on the second issue mentioned, which is that the keystroke shortcuts listed in submenus don't have qualifier keys.  Like "shift" + B to toggle through the brush options, for example.
    Thanks, James.

  • How to edit an iPhoto 11 photo in PSE10 editor

  • Iphoto editing in external photo editor

How do I get a new photo editing application to appear in the "edit photo" dialog box within advanced preferences? A newly installed photoshop version is not an option to select within the box, only an older version.

In that drp down (illustrated above) select the application  and then the sheet will descend to allow you to select a new app.
    Or,
Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.
