External Plugins Folder Option Missing in CC?
After upgrading I realized I am missing some external plugins I had installed.
Those I am missing are ones that I had in an external folder that you could set in preferences. The ability to set an Additional Plugin Folder is gone. Can I set an external plugin folder?
Thanks!
That does not work for TopazLabs plugins as their installer does not install the links into the proper folder in PS CC.
I copied the appropriate links from PS CS6 to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC (64 Bit)\Plug-ins
and restarted PS CC -- voila now have my four TopazLab plugins fully functioning again.

Sync folder option missing.
I was importing some files from my SD card as usual then the progress bar suddenly dissapeared at the begining of the import and I can no longer import or sync any of the folders. The new folder I created is also not showing. The files are good as I can open then in another application. tried the usual tricks / optimise and restart etc. Any ideas? I am reinstalling LR4 but don't want this to happen again. I seem to remember this happening with LR1 or 2 but can't remember what I did about it.
After reinstalling I still can't import or update any fodlers. I'm dead in the water with this. LR is unusable at this point on my computer, Even exporting to an existing folder does not show the file. Windows Vista 64 Quad core with 8 gigs. No problems otherwise. I need this working. until then I will have to download another raw application. Fist major problem since LR 1 for me. I also have client over tonight waiting to [review the shoot to make some decisions.
Thanks.Some pointers:
1) Replace the Preference File. It can go "funny" and then creates all kinds of strange behavior. Replacing the Pref. File takes about 10 mins and does not require a re-installation of Lr.
The re-installation of Lr that you just did did not replace your Pref. File. It will not be deleted on un-installation of Lr, nor will the re-installation touch the Pref. File since Lr is designed to leave your prefrences intact.
See Here on how to replace the Prference File: http://lightroomers.com/replacing-the-lightroom-preference-file/745/
See here where to find your Preference File: http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/preference-file-locations-lighroom-3.html
2) When you import images from camera there are possible complications when you
a) connect the camera to the computer instead of using a card reader; some computers balk when the camera is connected and Vista is particularly "finnicky" in that respect.
b) When importing - in the Import Dialog (top - centre) do not select <Move> or <Add>; always select <Copy>. -
Disable Single Plugins within "Additional Plugin Folder"
Dear Photoshoppers,
I'm using PSCS3 for quite some time now and I often run into a problem whenever I'm using the "Additional Plugin Folder"-option...
Every time I check out the latest trial for Photoshop and try to add the plugin folder of my primary Photoshop, the Trial Version complaints about various errors.
So my question is:
Is it possible to use the "Additional Plugins Folder" while simultaniously disable those single plugins of my original Photoshop that cause the trial version to complain about without deleting/deinstalling/moving those plugins in question?
Thanks in advance,
DanielYou can disable plug-ins by putting a tilde (~) in front of their name.

Search for Missing Links in This Folder option not working
I'm running InDesign CC 9.2.1, though this problem has persisted throughout the last few years and previous versions of InDesign. My operating system is OS 10.9.3. In early versions of InDesign, you could check the "Search for Missing Links in This Folder" option box when re-linking a missing link and the missing image would be highlighted in the finder window of the new image location. I did not keep track of what version of InDesign it was when this function ceased to work properly, but I would like to see if there is something I can do to make it work again.
The "Search for Missing Links in This Folder" check box is still in the finder window, and is always checked, so in theory it should highlight the missing link/s in the folder it is searching in, but it does not. The example below illustrates my point. The InDesign document that I used to illustrate this was opened up and there were four missing links. When I select the missing link/s and hit the relink button at the bottom of the links palate, I navigate to the correct location of the link but the image doesn't get selected even though the "Search for Missing Links" is checked. The missing link it should have highlighted was 431-11 frontal.psd, which clearly exists at the top of the "Front Street" folder.
This isn't a big deal when the folder contains four images. But when it has hundreds of links, it is a pain to try to find all of the links that are missing when the file name is often truncated, or it has an odd string of only numbers, etc. Just checking to see if anyone has any insight to this issue.I think the yellow alert triangle next to each link name means that you just have to update those links, by hitting the refresh button at the bottom of the link panel once all links are selected (it's two arrows in a circle)

IMovie won't open and Library Folder is missing in Finder
A few days ago, I downloaded the recent iMovie program. I even used it to make a video. Today I wanted to make another one but iMovie won't open at all. The wheel just spins and spins and nothing opens. So, I went into Finder and noticed my Library folder was missing. How did that happen? Is that why iMovie won't open?
I searched the Discussion Forums and saw how to find the Library folder in Lion. (Press Option and hit the Go button in the menu bar.) But, I have Maverick. I tried this anyway but I have no idea what/where the Go button is.
How do I find, or replace if necessary, my Library folder and get iMovie to open? I have a mid-2007 iMac that's been upgraded from Snow Leopard, so I don't want to put the Install Disk in and lose everything. Help? Thanks. Sorry for the confusion with the Library Folder. It's just been a long day all around.
Memory 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
I know it's older but it's never caused me a day's trouble since I've owned it. I hate to replace it until the next upgrade.
ETA: I just opened the Activity Monitor in Utilities and it says, out of 4GB of Memory, that 3.88GB are Used. I don't understand this because I have very, very few things loaded onto my iMac at all. I've always had tons of memory left. I don't have any music on my PC at all. No movies, either. My dock only has Finder, Launchpad, Dashboard, Safari, Firefox, TextEdit and System Preferences.
Here's a report from my Activity Monitor. Any suggestions? I have no idea what some of these things are, like: CalendarAgent (I don't use calendar at all),

Additional Plugins folder PS CC - make a shortcut to your location
A great start, i have used PS CS5 Extended for years and got the PS CC version last night, despite following the tutorials on Adobe all say to add additional folder as before, that is not an option in PS CC Preferences under edit - to be honest i thought allowing one custom location in the past was stingy (some 3rd party filters install where they want in program files rather than to a main plugins folder then sub folder you specify)
I have seen mentioned by an Adobe Staff member to create a shortcut to your plugins folder, but no instruction as to how (would been the smart thing to post that instruction), so how please do i do this?
https://forums.adobe.com/message/5545659#5545659This may assist others and save them time and frustration
https://support.alienskin.com/hc/en-us/articles/200145325-Using-a-custom-plug-ins-folder-w ith-Photoshop-CC
Using Windows 7 Ultimate
I had to select my custom 3rd party plugins main folder and use ........... Send To ..... Desktop (Create Shortcut) then follow instructions
After you complete that, you are faced with the fact its 64bit PS CC only installed by Adobe so you cannot use most plugin filters, try this below .....
Photoshop Help / 32-bit version of Photoshop CC 2014 is not installed |Windows

2014 release of Adobe Photoshop CC (Windows 32bit)
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5771
Having used Photoshop for a long time, i am surprised at having to do all this, the time wasted searching for how to do so is not funny and all Adobe PS CC manuals or pages instruct to use the extra plugins folder location as per PS CS5, I always rated you as very good before. -
Checking out Pdf files to Local draft Folder option no longer works after office 2013 installed.
Summary :
We are using SharePoint 2010 Ent edition and users were able to checkout Pdf files similar to local drafts folder like any other office file without any problem when they used office 2010.
i.e
Unfortunately ever since their machines upgraded with office 2013 recently , this functionality completely stopped working for PDF files. This has now become a big problem for the users when it comes to check out and replace PDF files.
All browser plugins required for this functionality (i.e SharePoint OpenDocuments Class ) are all available and active. All document libraries are configured to Checkout is required for editing files. Browser version
used at the moment is IE9 (32 bit) version with windows 7.
Can anyone please help with this issue and any help to get away with this problem is much appreciated.Hi,
Based on your description, my understanding is that the PDF files cannot be checked out to local drafts folder after Office 2013 is installed.
Did this issue occur with Office files?
I recommend to check if the Office files can be checked out to local drafts folder with Office 2013.
And it is recommended to use Office 2010 with SharePoint 2010 for best practice.
Thanks,
Victoria

How to set a folder option for individual folders
This was not an issur for previous Mac OS, but for Marvericks I seem not to be able to save a folder option for individual folders. So, when I change a view option, say, to "View as Icon" for a folder and close it, all other folders also show in the View-as-Icon mode. Is this a bug? Or, am I missing anything? I would want to open a particualr folder in a particular view option. How can I do such?

Where is the quicktime plugins folder in 10.6.7
I bought a new MacBook Pro running 10.6.7 and updated it from a backup from my old MacBook Time Capsule backup and now a lot of videos won't play in iTunes or Quicktime. I had a search around and people said it was probably because Apple has moved the Quicktime plugins folder. I've had a look, and I have quicktime plugin folders at the following locations:
HD > Library > Quicktime
HD > System > Library > Quicktime
HD > Users > (me) > Library > Quicktime
All of them have various Quicktime plugins in them. Can someone please tell me:
what plugins are installed by default in OS 10.6.7, and
in which folder they should be in so I can move them to the right location?
Thank youwhat plugins are installed by default in OS 10.6.7
In general, all components installed by the OS installation disc which are required for proper OS function are installed in the "~/System/Library/QuickTime" folder. Depending on the type of installation, this may or may not include previous components from older operating systems which may or may not still be functional. As I am not willing to perform a "clean" install to check on the specifics of this question or generate a list of specific components, I cannot go into more detail. QTKirk may have more exacting information regarding this question. (You could, of course, perform a clean install on a secondary internal or external drive to generate this information on your own.)
The "~/Library/QuickTime" folder contains "global" add-on components. This may include components automatically installed by such applications as iMovie, FCP, and/or third-party components installed by the user.
The "~/Users/named_user/Library/QuickTime" folder contains "local" add-on components. The components placed in this area by third-party installers or users are limited to in use to that specific account on multi-account systems. -
ITunes crashes whenever "Add folder" option is used.REALLY IRRITATING.Help?
Whenever I go to the "Add Folder" option in iTunes, it crashes out and has to be ended. Also, some songs don't even show up in iTunes and it's really obnoxious. My entire collection is mp3 format, and winamp (which I actually use as a player) sees them all just fine. iTunes is missing about 10 songs though out of my total. And as I try to fix it and add a folder, it crashes out.
Also, when adding all my music at once (say if I was reloading my entire Library to my iPod for whatever reason) it only recognizes about... 3/4 of the songs in My Music folder (I have subfolders and things).
I didn't have the crashing issue with iTunes 6.
Also again, sometimes my iPod doesn't realize it's not being charged anymore, and it the battery symbol stays on the screen, draining my battery when I'm not using it. Super. Incredbily. Annoying.
Any suggestions would help loads >.<
Thank you.after I got offline yesterday, I tried drag-drop again, it worked.

Tried installing what i thought was a legit file, turns out it was PC OPTIMIZER PRO/OPERA/YAHOO (why cant firefox make fix for this "force install" crap.. or windows a "black list" for this crap... any way these were force installed on my pc, was able to get rid of "pc Optimizer pro / Opera" but YAHOO is still lurking somewhere.. I USE GOOGLE LIKE THE REST OF THE PLANET! But no matter what i do i cant uninstall this crap.. tried deleting plugins folder C:\program files (x86)\Mozilla\browser/plugins or what ever it is.. also removed YAHOO from my settings... and its still forcing me to use yahoo as my search provider.

Try the following:

* [[Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings]]
* [[Use the Search bar in Firefox and manage search engines]]
</blockquote>
this was the first thing i tried, fixed it here is how (SURE FIRE WAY TO GET RID OF IT. TIRED OF SIFTING THROUGH USELESS POSTS TO FIGURE THIS OUT? HERE IS THE LEGIT FIX!)
open firefox.
go to Settings > Options > Search
un-check every search engine
change the "default search engine" to the engine of your choice and close firefox.
next go to Start > Run > regedit
Click search box and type "yahoo" it will take you to the folder containing the registry for "yahoo" delete the whole folder.
restart firefox.
Check to be sure it worked, (you may need to reset the "default search engine" again.)

I can't find in maverics the library/application support/aperture/plugins folder... someone knows how to install pt lens plug in?
Your user library is hidden by default in Mavericks.
You can reveal it from the Finder's "Go" menu in the main menu bar:
Finder > Go
Then hold down to options-key ⌥, until "Library" appears in the drop-down menu. Select it and open the Library. Then look for the folder "Application Support/Aperture/Plug-Ins".
Alternately you could install the plug-in for all users in "/Library/Application Support/Aperture/Plug-Ins", in the "Library" folder directly on your sytem drive.

Why are my desktop folder icons missing?
why are my desktop folder icons missing?
Yes I have tried a restart, a shut down and restart, a coling off period for 5 minutes anda restart, an examination of view options and I still get nothing, no destop folders icons, just the title of the folder. The folders without icons will open and their contents are displayed, just not the icons. The only icons I see are the hard drives, I have 4 in my old mac pro. So what gives?

HT2531 How can Spotlight find a file in the Library (in an app's plugin folder)?
I'm writing a plugin for SketchUp that lives in SketchUp's plugins folder in the system Library. Even when I put an alias of the plugins folder out on the desktop, Spotlight can't seem to find it (my plugin file). I've learned the trick of using the option key to reveal the Library folder in the Go menu, but why does the file remain 'hidden' from Spotlight after I've drug an alias of its folder out to the desktop?
I also tried using Terminal to patch Hidden to NoHidden without reliable results. Yuck.
Thanks for any help you can offer,
John TrotterTo view system and hidden files, use the Finder (cmd-F) to find.
From the criteria popup menu, select Other...
From that list that pops up, find System Files and Visibility; check both so they stay in the menu.
When searching for system files or hidden files, use those criteria.
