External, portable back-up battery for iPad

I'll be serving in the Peace Corps and may not have access to unlimited electricity as I do in the states. I'm looking for your recommendations on external, portable back up batteries for iPad - both what you like and what you don't like; what you'd recommend and what was a waste of your money.
Thanks.

I've used external batteries from New Trent and have always found them to be reliable and a very good value. Search Amazon for "New Trent" or visit their web site (with the same name).
Be sure you check the battery for 2.1 amp output (for tablet) that is capable of charging the iPad properly.

  • External battery for iPad 2?

I want to use my iPad 2 (purchased in Australia) on a 24 hour international flight.  Is there some kind of external battery I can buy so I can use the iPad 2 for longer than the standard 10 hours?

Google or Bing is your best friend.  However, I'll do it for you this time...

Also, more and more airlines are putting power ports in coach seat locations.  I think they all have them in F/C or business class.  You can buy a power port adaptor from Apple or other locations that will power your iPad from either an airline seat or a car with a power port.

  • Extended Battery for IPad?

Both my wife and i have IPads. Great devices.
Getting ready to fly to Sydney and know they won't last if we use them allot during the trip.
I have been looking at external batteries and of course, there is a confusing assortment.
www.nettrent.com seems to have good reviews and selections.
But, I don't want to spend a fortune for something that will be used on occasion.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,

  • HT201250 can an external portable drive be used for both time machine back ups and for additional storage or to sync files?

I use a seagate freeagent Go drive to keep a copy of important files.  Files that I use with some regularity.  I sync the drive every few days to ensure I have the latest.  It is a old school method, but works well.  I realize that not all things are "backed up" as they would be with a real back up, like time  machine.
Can one device drive do both or should I use two different drives?

It is recommended that the TM EHD be at least twice the capacity of the Drive(s) it is intending to back up.

If you connect your current EHD to use as TM backup it will be Erased during the TM setup process.

  • Faulty Battery for iPad 2 (1 Yr 8 months old) !!!

I had bought my iPad 2 on January 2012 (3G & Wifi). It was working all fine and we have used it quite less. Suddenly from last 1 week, the battery have stopped charging. When I connect the USB charger to an AC source - the battery keeps showing 88% however the moment I remove the charger, the iPad gets switched off.
I have tried charging the same though laptop also however - the same thing repeats.
I took the iPad to the service centre - they examined and told me that the battery has become non-functional and I need to replace my battery and the cost of the same would be INR 15,000 plus.
Imagine - for a device of INR 36,000, the battery did not even last long for 2 years !!! Even a Nokia Asha mobile which costs INR 3000 lasts longer than this. Is this the way Apple is chaeting customers by dumping us with products which does not even last long for 2 years. An dsee the repair cost... INR 15,000 !!!!
I am hoping Apple would do something for this case (Case ID - 505851224) and either replaces my iPad 2 with a new one or repairs the battery free of cost. Else the matter would be highlighted through social media as to how apple is cheating its clients. ,
    Regards

We are fellow users here on these forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support or Apple.
You've tried a soft-reset of your iPad : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear ?
Have you tried a different authorised repairer to see if they charge less : https://locate.apple.com/in/en/ ?

1.Will the time capsule back up mp3s from my pc and allow access to my iPad wirelessly?
    2. Has iCloud made any changes to the time capsule?

  • A waring about back up battery please fellow ipod users do not buy!!!!!!!!!

Ok I m not new to Ipods. This is my 3rd Ipod already. A couple of months ago
I picked up a back up battery for the ipod. I think it was an I go Im not sure. It
attaches to your key chain. A 9volt duracell battery sticks in side the removable case and you plug it into your ipod. J&R cells it for about 12 bucks. I bought it because Im always on the go in school or just hanging out. And I didnt want to be stuck somewhere with no tunes. After using it the first time It messed up my battery now I cant use the home charger because the Ipod wont reconize it. The only way I can charge it is by mac thank god I have a mac. The battery does not last at all once its charged. I sent it into apples repair dept the said nothing is wrong with the ipod. So now I have to go to the apple store. The battery is really messed up and not knowing that those portable chargers can damage the ipod battery really got me messed up. Ladies and gents please do not put your self in a bind by buying one of those portable chargers. They are not what they seem. And now I wasted 12 bucks and 280 bucks down the drain over something that could have beeen prevented because I used a portable charger. So Im just looking out.

JV1, if you are early enough to get out of the contract, do it! If you browse through these forums (and other on internet) you will find this is Verizon 4G, it will NOT get better anytime soon. This problem has existed since launch, through the 4510L is the worst device they have, it's not the culprit, I have had all of them.  It is the network.
Oh and by the way, Verizon isn't stupid, someone else pointed out to me the small print on the contract prohibits you from pursuing a class action suit against them.  All disputes have to be settled by arbitration which is binding per contract.  Guess they knew this would happen......

  • GarageBand for iPad - sustain midi issue

    Hi,
I am using GB for iPad and getting a lot of use out of it. Lots of fun! I have hooked up the iPad via a MIDI cable and USB camera widget to my casio electric piano. I've been recording music successfully, until....
I've recorded a solo piano track. In playing I've used the sustain pedal. The sustain pushes and releases have been picked up by GB. The track plays back perfectly in GB for iPa, sustains and all....but....when the track is exported to iTunes as an m4p the sustain pushes seem to cut short the notes instead of prolong them. Playback of the m4p sounds odd as the notes are cut short, ending abruptly.
    Very odd.
As I say, it appears only to be the case with the m4p exports from GB that have the issue, playback in GB itself is fine.
Any ideas? do I need to upgrade something or does anyone know of a fix?

    Ok, this is strange.
So I thought I would try exporting the m4p from GB again - just to see what would happen. I know, only fools do the same thing twice and expect a different result - right? Well, not this time. It worked ok. The sustains now export in the m4p and don't cut the notes short.
So, whether this helps anyone with the same issue in future I can only hope. What I did was this:
    - having exported the track initially as m4p and discovered in iTunes (on my computer) that is was faulty, I deleted it from iTunes.
    - I went back to GB for iPad and opened the song again (i had saved it to export it as m4p).
    - I played the song back and checked once more that playback in GB was fine - and it was.
    - I opened the settings panel and altered the track echo. It was at the zero position, and I moved it to about 25% or so.
    - I saved the song and exported it again as m4p to iTunes.
    - viola, it worked.
Maybe I did something here to rectify it. well, obviously I did. but who knows what. There must be logic to it, the iPad is a computer after all...

  • Just got my iPad 2 back from apple for battery exchange.  It was updated to iOS 7.02.  Trying to get all my apps back but my App Store is locked onto a purchased app and won't let me do anything. Help ,

My App Store is locked at an app I purchased and won't let me make any selections.  What do I do.  I just got my iPad back from factory for new battery.  It was updated to iOS 7.02 at factory.  Have not been able to take a movie either.  Will take picture.  No idea what square is, but won't let me select it either.

Try close all apps in multi-task window
    1. Double tap the home button to bring up the multi-tasking view
    2. Swipe the app's windows upwards to close
    3. The app will fly off the screen

  • Does anyone knows a cheap portable printer for iPad?

    Hi,
I need a portable printer for my iPad. There is no much choice and all of them are expensive (>600$).
Does anyone know a good portable printer for iPad?
I don't need to print photos but documents (A4)

    Some suggestions here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/23649242#23649242
Battery-powered printers are rather few and far between and of those that exist not all will work with an iPad. Using a standard AC WiFi printer with an inverter will give you more options.

  • I forgot my ipad on charge after 100%,is this bad for ipad battery?

I forgot my ipad on charge after 100%,is this bad for ipad battery?

Once the battery was fully charged, the smart circuitry stops charging the battery.  Power is then used just for running the device, and the charging circuits will not cut back in until the battery has spontaneously drifted down by 5%-10% of a full charge (which should take days with a normal, healthy battery).
You cannot over charge any Apple device.

  • The Best External Battery for 5th Gen iPod

I read something a while back about a new external battery for the iPod that gets ridiculous results. Im talking about 80 worth of music playback and 20 hours of video. But I cant remember the name of it. Does anyone else know which one Im talking about?
    KT

There are tons of different external battery packs, systems and do it yourself solutions out there for iPods as well as generic USB devices. So unless you know something more specific about the one you saw, I doubt any of us can pin point it with "external" and lots of power, as most of them boost this stuff.
Do a web search and you will likely find many more candidates.

  • Small portable printer for iPad

Is there a small portable printer that I can take with me to use with the ipad.
I have a Cannon ip90 which is great, but it won't print without my macbook!
In my job, I need to print out the forms on site and have people sign the
documents. It is frustrating that I cannot print from the ipad to my printer
without carring the macbook along too. Any ideas????
    Thanks

There is a solution ... I've been happily printing for a while from my iPad to my battery-operated HP H470 with absolutely no wires (and no router / pre-existing WiFi connection - it operates in AdHoc mode). Literally just the iPad and the H470 - in fact, one time in a marquee in the middle of a muddy field with no power and a long way from the nearest WiFi connection, so it can be done from literally anywhere.
I also couldn't find any info on a true mobile printing solution for iPad (or iPhone/iPod for that matter) but felt sure it must be possible, somehow - so once I'd sorted it all out, I wrote down the solution and the steps to get it to work in the hope of helping others:
    http://genuinely-original.blogspot.com/search/label/iPad Printing
    Hope that's helpful!
    Thanks,
