External Portal Implmentation Step by Step

HI all,
I am trying to understand how External facing portal is implemented step by step.
Can anyone provide me with the high level points how its is done.
Also, the main difference in implementing External and Internal Portal.

This is what I can think of @ the moment.
Internal
1. Specific to users with in the company(in intranet).
2. Works only in the intranet.
3. By default an installation is an internal portal.
4. Does not involve any additional hardware(most of the cases)
5. Webdynpro content works fine.
6. Normal framework is used.
External
1. Not specific to the users of the company(internet access required)
2. Works in the internet.
3. You have to make changes for the internal portal to make it external.
4. Might require additional hardware like the webdispatcher for loadbalacing, security ,encryption and a user friendly URL.
5. Always suggested to avoid webdynpro content as it is heavy content.
6. Light weight framework should be taken into consideration

I need a step-by-step plan: my WD external hard drive is 'read only'

I hope someone can help me, because i'm in quite a pickle. I bought a WD 500 GB external hard drive a couple of months ago. I have a MacBook Pro version OS X 10.8.5. The problem I have now is that I haven't used my external hard drive for a couple of weeks now, until today (note: I bought this hard drive and used it for the first time on my macbook pro, never on windows before or any other laptop/pc), and all of a sudden I can only 'read' my hard drive, it suddenly seemed to have changed it settings by itself to 'you can read only' whilst I never did anything to the permission settings....
So i read a couple of questions about this online, and apparently im not the only one with this problem. but all the answers i read are way too complicated for me, with too much computer jargon. Therefore i just need a simple step-by-step answer, whatever i need to install or 'configure' in order to make this thing work again!!
Please can somebody help me??? I never used this thing for more than a month and only my macbook pro....help!! It cant be that i used this hard drive once and then all of a sudden it changes it's settings??

If you can see the hard drive in Finder, select it, do a Get Info (command - I) and see what permissions you have in Sharing and Permissions. It should be Read/Write. If it isn't, unlock the padlock, and change it. Then look towards the top to see how the drive is formatted. It normally should be Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
If it is not that format, go to Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility. Open Disk Utility select the drive, select the erase partition, and after making sure the correct format is set, erase the drive. At the bottom the current format is shown. This will remove anything that was on the drive.

Can someone indicate step by step how to connect my external hard drive to my Macbook Air as additional storage and memory?

I have a WD My Passport for Mac. I have it into two partitions one formatted into Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and the other one formatted into exFat. I don't really know where to go from there. I would love it if somebody could help me with a step by step process.

Have you connected the WD external HDD to your MBA with the USB cable? It should be displayed on your desktop. If not, check the settings in Finder Preferences.
Once it is connected, click on the icon and a window will open showing what ever data you have on it. The same procedures apply as with the internal storage of the MBA.
Some WD HDDs come with their own software which may create unnecessary problems with your OSX. You may have to get rid of that.

I am trying to upgrade to Snow Leopard but need to backup before upgrading. How do I backup os x 10.4 tiger on Mac pro to an external hard drive. Does any one have step by step instruction?

A bootable clone is an exact copy of your drive which is capable of booting your computer. Making a copy of your computer which is capable of actually starting the computer requires special copying procedures which simply dragging files in Finder won't achieve. Some people just back up data files but if you have problems you have to reinstall all your operating system and all your applications. With a bootable clone you just start up from the backup drive and clone back everything.

Does anyone know how to do this so that all my playlists are also imported and not just the music itself?

When I have done this, all I did was network the two machines and copy the contents of the iTunes folder to the other machine, and that's it.
My understanding (which may not be 100% correct) is that the one file that is absolutely necessary is iTunes Library, and that the XML file is actually a copy auto-generated from the iTunes Library, appearing in a different format only for non-iTunes apps that take advantage of the iTunes Library data.
As far as I know, if you simply have the Library (database) file and all your original music files, iTunes on that computer should operate as it did on your old computer. I believe that the Album Artwork, Genius Data, and XML files can be regenerated from the Library file. Not sure about the Extras file.

How To Configure Or Intialize Portal Installed With BI7.0 - Step By Step

How do I configure or start working on portals which is installed as part of BI 7.0 installation that is EP and EP Core(Includes BI-JAVA and ABAP Stacks).
Please help me out with possible guidance(if possible Step by Step procedure) how to set up the parameters and at which locations in BI.. I have kept couple of days exploring this site, but I couldnt fine one answer relating.
More over the answers I could find was "To configure technical content, business content and bi admin cockpit," Any help or suggestion provided is grealy appreciated and points will be awarded accrodingly.

1)Portal is an integrated component of 9iAS. You need to download all of 9iAS and select the minimal install option.
2)We haven't tested this configuration, but as long as you set up apache appropriately to use different ports than the existing software it should work.
3)Portal requires 8.1.6.2 Enterprise edition or 8.1.7 Standard edition. Personal Edition will not work.

Custom portal step-by-step problem

I am trying to go through the Custom portal step-by-step provided in Chapter 5 of the Weblogic Commerce Server Developers guide. I am at the stage where I am trying to replace the images that are being used (logo.gif and logo_small.gif). Despite my best efforts I have yet to see the new logos I created. I emtied the cache in the browser I was using; I used a completely different browser. The only thing I can determine is that the server has a version cached somewhere and is not reloading the page. I have tried restarting the server and that also fails to work. I have renamed the original files so that if the server was reloading them it would not find them, but the page loaded as before. I am using Weblogic Application server 5.1.0 with service pack 6, and Weblogic Commerce Server 3.1.1 with service pack 1. Anyone have any ideas?

I think that the example portal is deployed as a an archived webApp (war
file). In that case the files that the server uses is in the "portal.war"
file.

Can anyone give step-by-step instructions for moving my iPhoto library to my external hard drive to free up space on my internal hard drive?

I want to move my iPhoto from my internal hard drive to an external hard drive to free up space. Can it be moved entirely and function the same as before with all features and the software itself on the hard drive? Also, can anyone give step by step instructions on how to do this? I'm having a difficult time figuring this out on my own by trying to search through Apple support.

The step-by-step guide for installing the Oracle Database and Oracle9iAS Portal

All,
I made a step-by-step guide for installing the Oracle 8.1.7 database and Oracle9iAS 1.0.2.1 (HTTP Only) install on a 'clean' Windows 2000 machine. The guide has a screen shot of every single step that I went through to get an installation of the database and Oracle9iAS Portal to work.
Because I left my email in the guide, everyone will be sending me email with questions about their particular install. [What I really wanted was some positive feedback email to show to my manager... hint hint.] As I do not want to troubleshoot everyone's install by email, I started this thread.
Let's start the step-by-step install guide discussion here.
As a start, here is what I did NOT want to do with the guide: I did not want to 'redo' the current Oracle9iAS installation guide. So I did not put any conditions in the guide. This is just what I had to do to take a clean Windows2000 machine (no Oracle software on it) and get it to work. If I keep on adding conditions, eventually I will end up with the installation document.
Also, in the next version (for the Oracle9iAS 1.0.2.2) I will probably start over again from scratch as we are planning on addressing some of the issues with the install.

We do have installed a Lotus Notes LDAP. Unfortunately, the documentation is company internal in German.
The steps, in general, where:
1) Create physical connection (obviously, you did that)
2) Deploy the XML Descriptor for the LDAP under "UM Configuration => Data Sources"
We used a derivate of the Sun One LDAP Profile.
3) Match the assignement LDAP Group --> EP Role --> EP User via EP user management
4. The user, in our case, is always created in the LDAP first (from a different LDA administration group) and is then visible in the Portal)
I know, this is very generic, but the "magic" is in the XML profile and I haven't seen any documentation about it yet.
