External SB LIve 24bits dri

I installed a new USB External SoundBlaster Li've 24 bits and to my surprise I can not select 24 bits. Software tells me about the bandwith limitation of USB .. But the card is plugged in USB 2.0 slot. I did not find an upgraded driver for this device on the Web site. Will there be one? Or can I use the drivers for the SB MP3+?

Make sure you have updated the drivers for the motherboard/USB aswell. You may need a USB update form the motherboard manufacturer that fully supports USB 2.0
Also, if you're using Windows2000 or XP, you may need to update the Service Pack.
The SB MP3+ is a different product, so you can't use those drivers.

anyone knows whats the exact differences between the creative soundblaster live 24bit (found in the k8n diamond and p4n diamond) and creative soundblaster audigy se (found in k8n diamond plus)? the chipsets seems to be identical among each other. the specs are also identical.

Looks like you don't have the right software drivers installed. Instead of the nVIDIA Audio drivers, you should be installing the Creative Labs drivers from the enclosed driver CD-ROM, the separate one from the MSI disk. Next go to Creatives site and run all the updates from their Auto-update service.
You should be able to select the tab shown above as I also see it. Each selection also works for me so I can say that the Dolby decoding does work.

SB Live 24Bit External: Reproducible System Freeze after installing Windows Upda

I have a SB Li've! 24Bit External and am quite content with it. However, my Windows Update has recently installed the following updates:
- Cumulati've Security Update for IE, KB9282
- Cumulati've Security update for OE, KB9567
- Tool for Spyware Removal, KB890830
- Security Update for Windows XP, KB90853
- Security Update for Windows XP, KB9562
I suspect one of the last two ones to be at fault. Afterwards, my computer froze completely on the Windows startup screen whenever the SB came up. I could verify that it was the SB by removing the USB cable (which solved the issue) and plugging in again later to the running system (which brough the freeze again).
A was able to get a running system again by using the System Recovery, but I'd *really* like to install those updates (. to be a little more safe and 2. because the Windows Update nagging me about those updates is really annoying).

This has got to be the craziest IRQ table that I have ever seen. Windows will not let me change any of the settings. It doesn't seem kocher, and I am pretty knowlegible from other systems I have set up, but not this one. I have been keeping a few charts to see if anything changes, and these have changed since this morning, though nothing else has been installed. I know they shouldn't share as they do, but it won't let me have control over these. Am I am doing something drastically wrong. On USB is Epson 760, Logi cordless opticle mouse, and MS Internet KB with combo PS2 / USB 2 port hub. I have the mouse plugged into KB. HERE GOES:

Sound Blaster Live 24bit External - No B

I am hoping that someone can help me here. I am running Windows Vista Ultimate and have my PC setup purely as a Media Center machine. It has an onboard Intel 5. Sound Card that was producing average sound, but works 00%?I have since installed my Li've 24bit External, I first ran the CD and then realised that it was not Vista software so I downloaded the updated drivers and software. First I removed the old software and then installed the newer version. Now everything seems to work and when I test all the speakers via the?drivers / control panel?they all work - including the sub. When playing anything via Media Center or Media player, I get no bass what so ever. - I have even tried 5. DTS DVDs?I have subsequently plugged the speakers back into the onboard card and the sub works. Any suggestions?Thanks in advance.

Sound Blaster Live 24bit External (5.1) Mic-In / Line-In prob

Hey, here's my setup:
Virtual DJ Console Edition (3.4. updated)
Hercules MP3 Console
Creative Sound Blaster Li've 24bit external (5. card, using it as a 4. to get FRONT out to speakers and REAR as headphone queue)
I need to broadcast using Shoutcast (the VirtualDJ internal broadcasting plugin wont allow to set up full details that SHOUTcast plugin for Winamp allows you to fill in.... i.e. Yellow pages etc etc)
The problem is basically that when I'm using SHOUTcast for Winamp, it streams both my FRONT and REAR outputs, can't seem to choose for it to stream only FRONT...
Now, I know I can send the FRONT to Line-in (and use a stereo Y splitter to get the sound also to my speakers), but then it seems my Sound Blaster li've disables my Mic-In... seems that it has shared Line-In and Mic-In even though they are separate holes in the box....
so basically wondering if anyones got any suggestions as to how to be able to Broadcast only the FRONT output and use the Microphone... now it seems its either I can't use the Microphone when doing a radio show... or alternati'vely I can't use my headphone queue...
I don't understand why would the card have a separate Line-In and Mic-In, but you can't use the Mic-In if you have something hooked in the Line-In? Could there be some software or driver update I could get to be able to do this? Or am I just having forced to buy something like an M-Audio card thats exactly the same, but doesnt share the Mic and Line-ins but lets you use both at the same time?

IF you mean those third part yASIO drivers they limit to 6 bit recording whic hisn't an issue wuth Acid pro, it's the bandwith and asio offset. DO you ahve a link?

Live 24bit external CMSS - Vi

I installed? the new drivers for my li've 24bit external sound card but can't find a way to hear 5. sound in wmp. All i hear is 2. sound. I'm wondering if CMSS is working as it should. Can anyone help? Maybe my settings are wrong... Thanks!

not sure if I get this right. are you saying there is no 5. sound for me on Vista with this? confused. I messed around with every setting, but as stated by [color="#000000"]Mathjkt I can only hear 2 speakers. when I run the creative speaker config, it correctly assigns the corresponding direction to each speaker, all 5. but none of my players work in 5. Can Sound Blaster live 24bits external work at usb2

my pc work with usb2.0 and i would like to know to now if usb. connection of sound blaster li've 24bits, can work at 2.0 or, if there are any update that make it work at 2.0?

In favour of quality sound and protection to the speakers it is not necessary a fast connection than usb .
does not usb . connection lose speed to transfer data for the purpose i describe, comparing to PCI card?
My pc has AMD athlon processor at 2.8Ghz and 768Mb of RAM and logitech X-530 5. speakers.

Help please! I have connected LP turntable (I am assured which has preamp inbuilt) to line-in port on S/Blaster external using lead inbuilt from?turntable with white/red RCA plugs with a line -in plug converter. Then connected external soundcard?to the notebook USB-USB as per manual. I have tried Creative's Smart Recorder but it shows no sound coming through on Analysis (same with Audiograbber software too). Sound card diagnostics show sound card OK and I can plug in headphones and get output. I am thinking hardware connection issue as I connected direct from turntable to microphone input &?got loud mike low quality recording but I ustand this is not recommended as can blow sound card (and poor receording anyway)?Is there another device I can easily plug into line in to test - or any other ideas gratefully received.

Have you tried by installing www.asio4all.com drivers and then by using some?ASIO capable recording software as like Kristal, VSTHost, Reaper, etc (there are many others available)?jutapa

Hmm... so do you have Vista there? If you do then, (I don't have Vista in use but, AFAIK) you set the 'final' samplerate through Vista settings. Vista resamples everything to the set samplerate (if you have set samplerate in Vista to 96kHz then, you should get everything what's played resampled to 96kHz automatically).
If you don't have Vista then everything should go as I mentioned already.

Iv got some dj decks, and wanted to record my mixes to my laptop, so i saw the external sound blaster li've and thought that would do the trick. But it turns out that it is alot more complicated than?i thought. First of all, it took me ato install everythnig without something going wrong, but all the driver (for vista) seem to be ok now. Once installed, i connected a 3.5mm jack into the line in, on the soundblaster, and conncected the other end to my mixer. That all done, i went onto the recording programme that you get with the sb, but here is where it goes wrong the message 'there is no audio device on the system, the application will now close' comes up. Of course this stops me getting onto any of the programmes, and stops me from recording. After this i checked on control panel/device manager, and it said that everything was working correctly, but on another page it says 'cannot find hardware connected' although the blue power light is on. I have now run out of ideas of what to do, so any help would be great.

Comparing to PLD, loaded modules, sound settings everything seems to by identical. Whatsmore, until I've upgraded kernel (one of the 2.6.25 edition) to the newest available in repo, surround worked on Arch flawelessly.

SB Live 24bit external problems with windows 7 beta driver

Hi, I have a problem with my soundcard with the windows 7 beta driver. An unwanted sound come out when I'm doing something like chatting with Yahoo Messenger or buffering Youtube. I don't know what makes it like that, can you guys help me out, please

Soundblaster Live 24bit External + Vista h

Ugh, what a nightware this is. Where do I start?
I installed using the installation cd that came with it and upgraded to the "vista" drivers on the creative website.
I have sound, but no CMSS and no working Line In.
Is there a workable solution to this?

I downloaded the file. Unzipped it and converted the iso file with WinAr. It was/looked like the same CD I have. It would not install anything because it did not recognize a soundblaster product,?but when I plugged in the card thru the USB a defalt windows driver was installed. I have been trying this for weeks with no luck. Somehow windows installed a default "usb audio" driver. The sound was all crackily when I played an mp3. I went into the hardware update and updated the driver. Windows found a driver to update with in the C:\windows\systen32 folder. It is now working fine.
Now my only problem is when I restart windows I have to unplug the usb with the soundcard attached then plug it back in when I am back at the desktop. I think there is a conflict at startup and the computer will freeze if the card remains plugged in but I have been living with this ever since I bought the card a year and a half ago. THe only issue is I am worried I will plug it in one of these times and it will not be recognized again. What a pain...

Live 24bit External Power Prob

I have this connected to my laptop but I repeatedly unplugged and plugged it in because I travel with my laptop. It worked fine for about 3 months and now when I plug it in, it wont power on. I have tried un-installing and re-installing all the software and drivers...i dont know what else to try....can you please shed some light on my problem
