Need some infomation about the PM03 Work orders
Once the PO released is there any possiblity for changing the
Cost limits ( Over all cost & Expected Cost )
Edited by: Naresh on Apr 22, 2008 1:40 PMDear Naresh,
You can only enter Estimated cost manually in order and that before order is released. You can't enter the cost once the order is released let it be any order type or service.
Using control key PM03 is for external services you can enter Gross price for external as many as time you want even if your order is released but before TECO.
No entry can be done in the field Work in operation tab. Entry either comes automatically from services aor you can enter manually in Service tab of operation.
Anything else if you wan to know please write down

PM order with external service
When we requisition an External Service through the PM Order using control key PM03, the system automatically generates the PR for the selected external service.
The currency for this PR is set to the default currency automatically and we are unable to select the currency in case an external service is payable in foreign currency.
How do we overcome this problem of selecting the required currency in the service PR as the currency field is greyed (disabled)?
Edited by: Sylvia Hernandez on Apr 12, 2011 12:27 AMHi
it is possible to open the currency field, you can sort the issue while converting to Purchase order. also check whether you can open the field using user exit

Plant Maintenanc External Service Requirement & stock material combination
Hi Experts,
We are implementing SAP Plant maintenance. In the external service requirement, the requirement is that there are some stock items which should be send to vendor with this service item. These items will be used in the service item for repairing the same.
I have created maintenance order with control key PM03 and by this we are selecting the service from service master. In this way we are creating the service pr but we are unable to put the material in that maintenance order which will be sent for this service item. If we are putting this material in component tab, a reservation is created with 261 movement which is not solving our purpose.
Please suggest me how to move forward on this issue.
Thanks in advance.
VTThanks for your reply,
But I am creating service PR through selecting the check box for sub contracting. After that I am putting material against Operation of External service. Reservation is generated for 543 movement but not allow to save and giving error message "Op. 0010 must have exactly one component as 'Rework Material to Subcontr.'"
Please suggest what should we do ?
Thanks

Dear All,
We have a one issue, Regarding Returnable service for plant maintenance - External service equipment.
From the maintenance order, PR triggered, after PO . Equipment can be sent to vendor and after once serviced its Recieved and we made Service entry sheet. thats all.
Here is my question is,
How to sent the equipment to vendor
Is there any options in Standard SAP ? for that only we can trace the Equipment.
Regards
MuralleeDear Mr Thiyagarajan,
I think this question is reapeating several times in this forum, since we are not able to understand your points correctly, though you explained many times.Pl give suggestion for the following scenario.
I want to send a equipment-X for servicing outside the factory.
Step-1:Creation of Order for the equipment and in that under External Tab of operation with Control key PM03,I will enter the nature of servicing.Let's say "Overhauling of turbine gear box",Quantity-1,Cost-100000 Rs,Cost Element-514670 and release the order.
Step-2:Based on PR creation through MO ,PO will be created in ME21N.In that we are giving only the PO document type,Vendor Number,Change in cost if any,tax code etc.
Step-3:-After saving the PO,I used to take print out and send it to Vendor for executing the services. In that Description of services, cost details, delivery date will be there.Equipment will be decativated in SAP and send to vendor without any entry in SAP. and by just making entry in gate.
Step-4:-After returning the equipment by completion of services to factory,I will make ML81N for the services and activate the equipment again in SAP.
We aware that Equipment can be linked with MM and how to include or enter the material number(equipment to be serviced) in the PO.Because we just converting the PR for services in to PO.Pl spend your valuable time to clear this and it will be helpful for lot of us.

Error in the procurement of external services
Hello friends,
I was doing the procurement for external services from maintenance order as was suggested, but in one of the steps in iw31
when we give the control key PM03 and then go to the operations tab, and go to external services, there it gives an error message that"GL <> account does not exist. please check your input", after entering the service no. up till this point i have not defined any GL account at any place.
Can anyone please help me with the config. part to check at which all place where account could be maintained.
regards,
and thanks in advance
ykHi Naveen,
actually i ddnt checke dthe cost in the cost tab,
but for the normal maintenance orders the components cost is getting derived from the components, but not the activity cost, because in our place all the maintenace activities have bin out-sourced. and they are paid on hourly basis. which is done by the MM people via external services.
though this is also the procurement of external services, but it is for the repair of a particular equipment............
and as far as costing is concerned, i already went into the given path but cldnt get much in that, that is i was not able to understand the terminology there, may be FI guys can understand..........................but this is all different i guess, my issue is where that accnt is maintained which is getting popped up in the IW31 at the time of making order for procurement of external services..............
hope it further clarifies my problem.......................

Procurement of external services in production orders
Dear Sirs,
We need to procure external service in production order as is done in maintenance order using a control key like PM03, it means, we need to create, automatically, purchase requisition with item category D (service). Therefore transaction COR1 (production order creation) doesn't allow to use any kind of control key which has T430-SERVICE flagged.
Do you have any idea how to solve this?
Best Regards,
Carlos DanielPlease update the control key that you are using for this activity under -
IMG>Production>Capacity Requirements Planning>Routing data>Define control key
Here, you have to flag the check box " Schedule Ext. Operation" & maintain the " Ext Processing indicator"

External services confirmation- ML81N vs. IW42??
Hello everyone,
I have a question around confirmation of external services, addressing to those who are savvy with external services config side..
First of all- Does accepted service entry sheet represent itself a confirmation? Or do we need also confirm it standard way as well? In case of latter, itu2019s confusing, since when we hit u2018actual datau2019 in IW42, we only have operations to confirm, not the particular services that lying beneath in sub screen External (e.g. from contact). So, subscreen Services is activated in confirmation layout, stays grey regardless whether you have services from contract or from material master (Mat type DIEN), nor using PM02 or PM03 ctrl keys..
So, what should I do to enable those services in confirmation screen?and all in all, is it necessary at all from business process design standpoint, or service entry sheet is normally enough to confirm external services? if so, what is the purpose of that subscreen in confirmation then??
Thanks in advance,
SergeyHi Sergey,
In case of external services process we dont do confirmation from standard transactions i.e. IW42/IW41, whereas it used for internal operations only or the opeartions carried out by external workcenter.
In SAP we do service entry acceptance & GR against the PO for confirmation followed by MIRO i.e. invoice verification for payments.
We get the following statuses upon above activities....
EODL-External Operation Delivered
EOPL-External Opeation Partially Delivered.

Dear Expert in PM,
I'm interested to know about PM.
Can i know How to procure External Services in PM module?
What's the external services can purchase - must be raw material only or can be services ?
If yes , how can we control all this purchasing in PM?
point will given for your solution.
Thnk you.Hi,
External Operation:
Equipment will be sent outside for the service. In this case, mostly service & spare parts will be given by service provider & they will charge the company in whole. So In operation, we need to mention the control key as PM02. In Maintain Control Key config, for PM02, externally processed operation should have been selected.
So it will create the PR for the Operations & components. If company is providing spare parts to service provider, then component can be defined as L - Stock Item.
Control key is the important input at operation level to decide following things.
1. Operation => Internal / External
2. Scheduling required or not
3. Cost Calculation is required or not
4. Confirmation required or not
External Service Operation:
Here, service provider will come to the site & he will provide the service. Here control key will be PM03. In this control key config, Service check box should be ticked.
In this case, Service Master will be created & assigned to Maintenance Order. Against that, PR & PO will be created. Based on PO, Service Entry sheet will be created.
Here also, either service provider or company will provide the spare parts. Based on that, item category should be maintained as N or L.
Purchase Requisition
This is based on the control key for the operations. For Materials, this is based on config Define Change Docs, Collective Purc. Req. Indicator, Operation.
