External smtp blocked again

Hi telstra moderators,
I'm having the same problem as my last post- https://crowdsupport.telstra.com.au/t5/General-Internet/outbound-smtp-from-static-IP-blocked/m-p/95220/highlight/true#M865
Shelley helped escalate this to get it resolved after fruitless calls to the technical helpdesk.
Can you please raise with your engineers again.
First noticed today as our office was closed yesterday.

I've had the same problem with Telstra Cable. Would you mind PMing me details of who you are using as your mail server? I'd like to compare notes. There are numerous examples of this problem on this very forum (search for external IMAP or external SMTP). Unfortunately, most of the suggestions from Telstra's otherwise excellent Support Agents will be unhelpful. It's not the Support Agent's fault as I suspect this is something far more complex than what they should be expected to resolve.  See my thread for my experience: http://crowdsupport.telstra.com.au/t5/Bigpond-Email-Inc-Windows-Live/Can-t-Access-external-IMAP-or-SMTP-servers/m-p/390163/highlight/true#M5481 The first thing that you should do is change your mail.telstra.com mail server from port 25 to port 465.  Potential Solutions:There are three solutions that worked for me but are not perfect and will cost you time and/or money: migrate to a gmail or an exchange hosted mail server. There are other advantages of this (less false tagging as spam by your receivers), but will likely cost you around $5 per month per user.use a VPN server to effectively by-pass the Telstra network. This works fine. I use GhostVPN. I'd encourage you to use a pay-for-use service, but you could test it on a free service. You might need to add mail.bigpond.com to the VPN exception list. use an SSH tunnel to your webserver and change your mail settings to a localhost and port setting. This is advanced, not perfect but reliable and free. Other Observations:Your mail will probably work if you connect to the internet via your phone. This is an incredibly annoying scenario and Telstra is unlikely to be able to help.My problems went away this week with me making no changes.

  • Sending mail to internal mailadres to external smtp

    Hi,
I must have 1 email address from my email-domain (intern and external) that always send the mails to the external smtp-server.
    example:
    mail domain is novellrocks.com
email address create is [email protected]
So when we send internal our external een mail to [email protected] it will be deliverd to the mailbox.
But for this mailbox I explicit wants that the internal mail is first send to an external smtp server thats relay it to the gwia and then delivers its to th mta and then to the po and to the mailbox.
In the past you could send een mail to gwia:[email protected] so it was deliverd external and then get it back through the gwia.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Can you tell me how exactly?
I have tried gwia:email-address but that does not work.
I'm also not shure that it's leave the site externally and not just reenter the smtp-server.

    That still works.

  • Block again after InputStream.read() return -1

    Hello,
I've got the following problem: I call read() on my InputStream object until the function return -1. The read() call is done in a loop. After that i start processing the received data. The socket is not closed and i want to start a blocking read() call again. But this doesn't work. Instead the read() return -1 again and again..... This make sense to me because there are actually no data, but i expected that read() is blocking again.
    Does anyone know this problem?
By the way: Can i change my screen name. I typed in some stupid stuff as I think i could change is later.
    Thanks
    Christian

read() returning -1 means that the other end has closed the connection. All you can do is close yours. There will never be any more data so there is nothing for it to block for.

  • Is Java blocked again?

I was forced this morning to update to Java 7 update 17 from Oracle. Has update 13 before.
Then it was working for a couple of hours but now its blocked again. I'm trying to run the installation again for Java 7 update 17 but i just get the message that a higher version is already installed.
I have tried it on 3 different Macs and all have the same problem.
This is really getting on my nerves as it completely stops me from doing my work.

The download from Apple is the Xprotect framework which blocks Java from working.  If you didn't download the updated Xprotect, then you could continue using your current Java version, which is insecure (and the reason Apple blocked it).
You can elect to have Apple update Xprotect and secure your system (by blocking insecure Java versions on your machine), or you can elect to have Apple NOT do this and run what Java version you want.  But once Xprotect is updated on your machine, you MUST update Java or you must hack a plist file to run an insecure Java.
It's your choice.  And just because you don't understand my answer, does not mean it's unhelpful.

  • Exch 2013 Forwarding Mail from local account to External SMTP user

New 2013 implementation... Two Servers (Front End and Back End) both running Exchange 2013.
I am having trouble sending a local AD Exchange mailbox mail to external SMTP address.  I have tried several options.. I have created an "contact" as was required in previous versions.  I have created new AD accounts with external SMTP addresses,
I have also attempted to use the scriptlet:
    Set-Mailbox -Identity "%AD-USER%" -DeliverToMailboxAndForward $true -ForwardingSMTPAddress
[email protected]  (%AD-USER% was actual AD Username/mailbox) and
[email protected] was actual receipient SMTP address ([email protected])
Local AD Mailbox receives the mail appropriately however I have enabled forwarding everyway I know how and nothing seems to work.  If I send mail straight from my account to the destination SMTP address, they get it; just not if it is sent to the local
AD account then forwarded via -DeliverToMailboxAndForward command...
Please help.. I have several users that I need to have their mail CC'd to an external SMTP address.. Previous versions of Exchange required a "Contact" to be created and then the mailbox forwarded to that contact, which had a SMPT mail address...
Im not adverse to implementing via powershell if I can just get it to work... Any suggestions are greatly appreciated and needed.

I spent several hours on this but I found the perfect solution to forward to external and internal emails.
In my case, I needed to forward to more the one external email (This applies to Exchange 2013):
    Here is how:
    Using the EAC,
    1) Make sure that ENABLE FORWARDING is unselected under the delivery options in mailbox features for your particular user.
    2) Create all the External Contacts you need to forward in the CONTACTS tab in RECIPIENTS.
    3) Create a group in the GROUPS tab, give it a meaningful Display name, and for ALIAS, make sure it is
a name that does not exist in any mailbox. This name will make part of a new email for that group.
You will need this email later to us in the SHELL for the last step.
Further down, under members, click on the plus sign to add all the contacts you wish to forward. You might want to uncheck ADD GROUP OWNER AS MEMBER.
Leave everything else with the defaults and click SAVE.
    4) After you save, go back and edit the same GROUP you just created and click on delivery management.
Click the SENDERS INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF MY ORGANIZATION radio so that any external emails are accepted.
    CLICK SAVE.
Using the EXCHANGE SHELL enter the following command that will forward emails to that new group and keep
a copy of the email in the mailbox.
    Substitute "user_to_forward_email" and "groupaliasemailaddress"
    with your information:
    Set-Mailbox  username_to_forward  -ForwardingAddress groupaliasemailaddress
    THIS WORKED PERFECT FOR ME
Note that at this point  you cannot use the EAC to forward to groups.
I don't know why but Microsoft should fix this
unless there is something I don't know.
HOPE THIS HELPS everyone out there looking for this type of scenario.

  • Doubt about authentication of external SMTP in SCOT

    Hello Guys,
I would like to know if anybody know how, if is possible to configuration in SCOT a external server of SMTP that it need of authentication.
I already made the configuration in SCOT and already change the parameter in Instance profile (RZ10), but I can't to send e-mail.
I Did a test in the same machine that I´m made the configuration in sap, I configuration a outlook in port 25 and the same SMTP server but there need information about authentication for exemple user and password of external smtp and there I can normaly to send email but in sap I Can't.
My doubt is : Is possible to configuration in SAP external e-mail that need authentication like user and password ?

I have a problem with receiving email into ERP IDES.
When I configured SMTP server with this
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/af/73563c1e734f0fe10000000a114084/content.htm
guide, I can sending emails, but not receiving, because connection ist lost (log from postfix):
    Jan 30 12:29:47 lodz04 postfix/smtp[4678]: 7EC11281112: to=<[email protected]>, relay=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx[xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx], delay=162032, stat
us=deferred (lost connection with xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx[xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] while sending end of data -- message may be sent more than once)
and no email is delivered to Bussiness Workplace.
    Anybody know why?

  • Is Verizon blocking all external SMTP servers now? 465 / 587 not working either

I have an Dreamhost hosting account which handles all my email, don't use Verizon at all.
For last year or so have used 587 w/ STARTTLS with no issues. Always worked fine.
Suddenly can't connect at all from Verizon. Configuration unchanged on client side, but all attempts to contact that host will timeout.  But fire up my VPN to tunnel the traffic and it works fine.  And exact same client PC works fine in dozens of other locations / networks with same config.
Can't find anything at all in my router that would indicate an issue.  Config unchanged from when it was working fine.
Tried 465 w/ SSL/TLS and same result - works great via tunnel, blocked on Verizon.
    Recap:
Destination SMTP server = a Dreamhost server
587 / STARTTLS fails to connect via Verizon, fine via VPN and same client hardware/config on other networks
465 / SSL/TLS fails to connect via Verizon, fine via VPN and same client hardware/config on other networks
Any suggestions?  Has Verizon suddenly blocked a number of hosting companies? Quite irritating to have to fire up the tunnel just because of sending basic emails.

Based on your description of the issue, I wonder if maybe Dreamhost is blocking connections from your IP? Do you know if your IP address has changed recently?
I would recommend getting a new IP address to see if that helps. The simplest way to do this is to turn off your router for a few hours. (Before you go to bed or out to run errands are good times.)

  • External SMTP server, From address

I have googled a good number of postings about this but just couldn't quite find the right solution. Surely this can't be that hard. Running Leopard, here's what I'm trying to do:
Use Mail to read & send emails from my work server as well as my .Mac account.
Easy enough, you would think. Sorry if this is too obvious but I'm a new Mac devotee (though this has rocked my boat a bit!). So, here are the problems I've encountered:
    1) Tried to add an External Server to MobileMe. Problem: Can't my external address as reply-to
    2) Tried to add the account to Mail. The SMTP server doesn't seem to want to take the password that I know works for Outlook and keeps the account "Offline". When I try to send an email using this in the From, it gives me the outgoing email error, allows me to edit or select servers. Selecting it again gives the same erorr.
    3) Tried to just use the default Mac SMTP server for this external account, but still get an error when trying to send.
Please help me get the right solution!
    Thanks,
    R

The MobileMe .mac/.me smtp can only be used when sending from a MobileMe address, and not any others.
What is the source of the SMTP you are trying to use with the other account? What Port are you presenting that SMTP on, and how have you selected to authenticate it?

  • HT5655 Has Adobe Flash Player been blocked again.  I can download the image and proceed to installing; however, installation of flash prompts me to select update methods.  I cannot select update or not update.  I also cannot click on NEXT.

Has Apple blocked Flash Player again, listing it in the block list.  I am able to download the image from Adobe, and begin the install process.  Once I get to the option to select update Flash automatically or not, I cannot select an option or click on NEXT to finish the installation.  Thoughts?

Adobe's Flash Player Install Manager was updated about a week ago.
I suggest trying the download from Adobe's site here:

    any idea?

    Hi Lars,
I updated all things, Java, Linux, MaxDB, i discovered that the problem isnt with network, but with some kind of deadlock at database side, for example:
    1) user 1 insert something on table A
    2) user 2 starts a long running transaction with poor SQL statement that locks the table A.
    3) user 3 opens a connection to run an SQL statement that queries table A.
    4) all java threads that need a new JDBC connection get blocked because step 3 never returns a new connection, and DBCP synchronization never goes out.
here is the thread of step 2:

I inspected the database side, still really running, database results comes, but without releasing the connection, and if i wait the time or no user need a new connection, i never get thread blockeds, appears that MaxDB locks all connections if the newly created connection executes some SQL after acquiring that connection.
I see some blocks too at java finalizer, where one thread running is stucked getting a connection.
all this is just guess, maybe I'm wrong, but for now i will end this thread as we need see how this system will perform with all updates made.
    best regards.

  • Exchange preventing external SMTP traffic

We just got a bunch of iPhones in and we're running into a problem when we add external email accounts to their iPhones. The phones are sending/receiving their corporate email through Exchange just fine. They also send/receive email through web-based accounts like GMail or Yahoo with incident. It is only when we try to add other accounts, like the user's personal ISP mail (RoadRunner for example) where we run into this problem. They can receive email on those accounts, but not send it. One user said it worked on his Blackberry, but I have not independently confirmed that.
I did confirm when I removed the profile I built in the iPhone Configuration Utility and disconnected it from our wireless, the emails would send. I also confirmed it was not our wifi set up as laptops could send just fine using these same accounts.
I had my teammate who built and configured the Exchange 2007 cluster go over everything and he can't find what could be causing it.
Has anyone else run into this situation?

The profile is probably set to block sending. This is not automatic, but is a feature for business that do not want employees sending or forwarding email from a company phone without a record on the Exchange server. I don't know offhand where that property is set, but it should be somewhere in the profile.

  • External SMTP Auth

    Hi folks.
My iPod is not happy. She (he?) can't send mail from outside. I have an IMAP account that I use on my LAN server for my domains. When I go out, I can't send mail.
Now, port 465 is apparently used for SSL SMTP, but that isn't open on the server. My router has SMTP Mail open.
What I want to do, I forget the name of. I think it's SMTP Auth, and using a port above what routers would normally close off. So I'd like to use port 3500 or something like that. How do I do that, while using Kerberos or MD5 for sending mail from outside?
    Cheers

I'd confirm that your ISP is (or is not) blocking inbound port 25; if the server here is connected into the ISP via a residential-grade service tier, then port 25 and port 80 blocks in-bound are fairly common. That is, confirm whether the connectivity problems here are between the ISP and the server, or at the pub.
As for your own network perimeter, most consumer-grade routers are pretty weak, while those router-firewalls with VPN and port-forwarding aren't that much more expensive. And there are open-source firewalls around. And using a VPN into the firewall is a pretty good solution for many reasons.
Various organizations that offer wireless do block port 25 outbound and sometimes other specific outbound ports to reduce the spread of malware, or the network loading that can result from torrents. Few organizations block outbound VPNs or webmail (port 80 or port 443) connections.

  • External SMTP server on Nokia 6500 slide

Is there any possibility to change the SMTP server setting for email on nokia 6500 slide? When adding an email account the phone automatically assumes that you would like to send the emails thru the mobile providers ISP, but i have an external ISP with SSL login at port 495.
Is it possible to get any advanced settings in this phone?

It sounds like a hardware problem. Unfortunately we can only help with settings and software issues here.
You should send your phone to your local Nokia Care Point for repairs.

  • Same internal and external domain names - AGAIN!

    Hi all-
Like many of you, I am confronting the problem of having the same FQDN for both my Active Directory domain and Internet domain.  For the sake of discussion, let's call the domain rlh.com.
I need to access an externally-hosted website on the rlh.com domain.  The site is coded exclusively to use rlh.com and NOT
www.rlh.com.  Therefore, the old trick of adding a static www A record on my internal DNS server will not work.
It looks like another option is to install IIS on my DC and then configure some type of forwarding to the external site.  While this might work, frankly, I don't want IIS on my DC.  It's a DC, not a web server.
Yet a third option, correct me if I'm wrong, looks to be using some type of "split DNS."  Though I have not read the particulars (yet) of this solution, I am suspicious of it causing DNS inefficiencies.
All of these solutions look to me to be workarounds.  I am preparing to install a new DC (upgrading from 2003 to 2008 R2) and want to FIX the problem, not work around it.  That said, it looks like I have two options:
    1.  Rename my existing 2003 AD domain using rendom
    2.  Install the new 2008 R2 DC with the new domain name, setup domain trust between the old and new domains, and then use ADMT.
Can someone please comment on my logic here?  Does anyone have experience with both of the two options?  Is one less painful than the other?
As I preparatory step, I have migrated from my onsite Exchange 2003 server to Office 365.  Exchange is no longer present in my organization, though some slight "remnants" may remain in Active Directory.  Other than Exchange, I have a
Hyper-V host, 2 SQL Servers, and 3 RDS servers present in my environment.
    Thanks.

I realized this was answered, but I would like to add the following comprehensive blog on this subject.
Can't Access Website with Same Name (Split Zone or no Split Brain)

Note - In an AD same name as the external name (split zone) scenario, if you don't want to use WWW in front of URL, such as to access it by
http://domain.com, then scroll down to "So you don't want to use WWW in front of the domain name"

  • How do I combine my content from 3 external hd's and my 1 Mac Mini to my new Time Capsule (which is connected to my Mac Mini) and not have to use my external hd's again? My Mac Mini wont hold all the content on the external hd's.

My 3 external hd's are 500GB (total 1.5TB) and my Mac Mini is 500GB (Time Capsule is connected to this). I want to be able to have all the content from all these sources stored on my Time Capsule as if I only had 1 external drive. Is this possible? It is my understanding that when Time Machine backs up my Mac Mini I have to have my external drives connected since my Mac Mini does not have enough space on it to hold all the content on the exgternal hd's. I can only connect 1 external hard drive at a time and I want to get rid of them and consolidate.
And having to go back in time to search for files on 1 external hard drive and then back in time for the other external hard drive is not the most efficient thing to do. I would like it all in one place.
    Thank you for your help!!
