External speaker for 3GS

3gs
Does anyone know if there is a small mono speaker that plugs directly into the 3.5 plug?  Don't need much (voice only) but just something more than the built-in external.. Something the size of the Square card reader would be great.
thanks,
L.

I know that the Linksys WVC210's audio capabilities include two-way audio, an embedded microphone, external speaker and microphone ports, and voice compression, however, I still think that external speakers are still available in the stores, you should try Walmart, Circuit City, Office Depot, Staples and many more...

  • Is there a way to connect an external speaker (for another room) through the headphone port

Is there a way to connect an external speaker (for another room) through the headphone port  & still hear sound through the internal speakers?  System Preferences/Sound/Output or Sound Effects allows you to use one or the other  --  headphones or internal speakers.  I would like to have the option of hearing music through the internal speakers in one room, & through an external speaker in another room at the same time.  I also do not want to frequently disconnect/reconnect the external speaker from/to the headphone port as I know over time the connection could become loose.  (10.7.4  Lion)

dont think so but I could be wrong
as it were I didn't like the build in audio so I connected some external logictech 2.1 speakers  but there
are times when I use headset so I bought this one
or any minijack splitter will work too so I have 2 things connected to the headset port works just fine

  • Clock-Radio, External Speaks for IPhone?

I recently started looking into getting a clock-radio, external speaker unit for my iphone. I went to Best Buy and messed with the ones they had on display but there is a problem. When I dock the iphone it wants to turn it to airplane mode to reduce the noise problem. I guess I was just wondering if there is a clock-radio made for that iphone that doesn't require this. It doesn't have to be a ****-radio system, as I never listen to the radio. I guess I'm looking for a nice external speaker set with a dock. Any suggestions?
Note: I am aware there is a bose system, however, I'm looking for something around the 100$ price range or under. Thanks

the iHome in the Apple Store works well with iPhone. I went into an Apple Store not too long ago and my phone worked with every speaker for iPod in there.

  • CISCO IP 7961G / External Speaker for Hard of Hearing

I have a customer that wants an external speaker installed on a 7961G telephone. Can this be done via the AUX jack on the telephone? If so, where can it be purchased with installation instructions.

You can plug a PC-compatible powered speaker into the 3.5 mm Speaker jack on
the left side of the phone. External speakers can enhance the quality of the sound
that you hear from your phone.
To use an external speaker, you must configure the appropriate setting on the
    Speakers menu on the phone
(choose Settings > User Preferences > Audio
Preferences > Speakers). For more information, refer to the Help available on the phone via the ? button.
Cisco recommends the following guidelines for external devices though:
The following information applies when you use external devices with the Cisco
    IP Phone:
Cisco recommends the use of good quality external devices (speakers, microphones, and headsets) that are screened against unwanted radio frequency(RF) and audio frequency (AF) signals.
Depending on the quality of these devices and their proximity to other devices such as mobile phones or two-way radios, some audio noise may still occur. In these cases, Cisco recommends that you take one or more of the following actions:
    • Move the external device away from the source of the RF or AF signals.
    • Route the external device cables away from the source of the RF or AF
    signals.
    • Use screened cables for the external device, or use cables with a better screen
    and connector.
    • Shorten the length of the external device cable.
    • Apply ferrites or other such devices on the cables for the external device.
Cisco cannot guarantee the performance of the system because Cisco has no
control over the quality of external devices, cables, and connectors. The system
will perform adequately when suitable devices are attached using good quality
    cables and connectors.
These speakers can be purchased at any decent shop or via your reseller...

  • External speaker on 3gs quit

Yesterday, I had the iPod playing on my phone, and all of a sudden, the sound quit. So I shut it off, started it back up and nothing. Tried a reset on the phone, nothing. I copied my info, and did a restore, but used the backup through iTunes. And Ive tried plugging a headphone jack in and removing it repeatedly, like Ive found in trouble shooting things online.
If I plug headphones in, I can hear everything fine. But the external speaker is not working and I am not sure if its just gone or if there is something else I can try? The phone is like 1 1/2 years old now, so out of warranty, of course. This *****, since now I have no ringer.
Any ideas? I was hoping to upgrade in June, but thats a ways away and this ***** with no ringer...
    Thanks
    Virginia

Oh and it isnt saying the headphones are plugged in at all. Ive also tried blowing that out and the speaker on the bottom

  • My ipod 4g external speaker has been working on and off for the past few days since christmas. 2 days ago it was working all morning then in the afternoon in the middle of watching a video it just stopped. it hasnt worked since ): any help?

My ipod touch was given to me from apple refurbished and still with ios 5.0.2 after owering it on for the first time and updating to 6.0.1 it was functioning normally and i was using it just fine. i had just begun to use itunes and i bought some music and after playing about 3 or 4 songs aloud from the external speaker it stopped working. just like that. i looked over the internet about other incidents like that but then after thaty i returned back to my ipod and began playing Tron and the sound worked fine! i exited the app and it played my music just fine too. then the next day it went out again and no sound was being played. i left it alone and after about 2 or 3 hours i came  back to it and it played sound again. the next day it went out in the middle of watching a video i had just taken. it hasnt come back on since. any help/suggestions?? anything plz..

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.
    Apple - iPod Repair price
A third-party place like the following will replace the jack for less. Google for more.
iPhone Repair, Service & Parts: iPod Touch, iPad, MacBook Pro Screens
    Replace the jack yourself

  • Since I used an external speaker, on monday for my MacBookPro, my speaker on the laptop has been disabled.

Since I used an external speaker, on monday for my MacBookPro, my speaker on the laptop has been disabled. The speaker icon on the top tool bar is grey and can not be accessed.

    Hello there, chriswetherby.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great steps for troubleshooting the issue you're describing:
Troubleshooting issues with no audio from built-in speakers on Macs
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1574
Check your Sound System Preferences pane
If you are still having issues after you have confirmed the proper version of Mac OS X is installed, make sure the computer is set to play sound from the right source.
Remove any external audio devices and cables from the USB, FireWire, or 3.5 mm audio ports.
Open System Preferences from the Apple () menu, the Dock, or from the Applications folder on your hard drive.
Open the Sound pane and the Output tab, then select Internal Speakers as in this image:
If Internal Speakers is not an option proceed to step 4. For Mac Pro computers, proceed to step 5.
If Internal Speakers is present but not selected, select it and test again.
If the Output volume slider is low or the Mute box is selected, raise the volume slider or deselect the Mute box and test again.
If the issue continues through these steps and Internal Speakers remains the selected option proceed to step 5.
If the Internal Speakers option does not appear in the Output tab and your computer is not a Mac Pro, check that Digital Out is present as in the image below:
Confirm again that all external audio devices and cables have been removed.
Check to see if a red light is lit in the line-out port. If so, your Apple computer may need service.
If you do not see a red light, proceed to step 5.
If the issues persist, contact Apple support for further troubleshooting assistance.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Iphone external speaker doesn't work

My Iphone 3GS external speaker will not work. I have tried cleaning the headjack port many times and did not help. I have even went as far as replacing the speaker assembly itself and it still is inoperative. When I unplug the headphones, the volume goes down on the screen as if it recognizes the release of the headphones, but the speaker will not work on the phone or as an ipod. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is more specific and perhaps smaller issue than those centered on the headphone jack (probably not involved in this case). Rather than having only external audio problems, the base port/connector part of handset is central in this issue - giving the nearly constant "not made to work with iPhone" airplane mode dialog box. (Always on power up, and frequently at all times unless in the charger stand specifically.)
Although one user has claimed in several forums that he resolved it by blowing out/cleaning the charger plug, the Genius who exchanged mine indicated he thought these two problems together indicated something more than that. I was able to get another new phone within the 14 day return policy.
Don't mess around with the audio jack if you are having the airplane message AND loss of external speaker exactly as originally described here Your phone is only as good as the jacks in terms of longevity, don't wiggle and stress the connectors - take it to Apple directly for repair of this hardware problem.

I had this exact problem - but the headphone plugin/remove thing just wasn't working at all for me! So i looked into other issues that would cause it and why the headphone thing is working for some people.
The problem is hardware, inside the headphone jack there is a short that is sometimes caused by the headphones going in at funny angles. I fixed this (and I'm not suggesting you do this) was get one of my girlfriends bobby pins and push the sides of the headphone jack back from the inside (i.e. inserting the bobby pin and moving it around a bit). This has permenantly fixed the issue. So it seems that the issue is hardware and I have a perfectly working iphone again
Once again, this is not a "pretty solution" but it does work!

  • My iPhone keeps showing an error message and the external speaker wont work

Ok I have had my iPhone 3GS about 3 months now and recently it has started showing an error message "This accessory is not optimized for this iPhone, you may experience noise caused by mobile interference and a decrease in mobile strength". The external speaker will not work either, the only sound it will produce is the ringtone. Any other sound, message tone, sounds from apps, songs on my ipod, sounds from videos, will not be produced! Although when i plug the head phones in the sound will work for everything and then this error message will come up again and the sound will stop working. It's like the phone thinks it is plugged into a docking system or something. Also the phone will lose signal for long periods of time and sometimes not come back unless i restore the phone. I have tried EVERYTHING and nothing has worked, can anyone help me please?

Or you can try what lots of other people have found, and thats that the base connector is dirty and the contacts are shorted by some debris.
The Apple store guys are good at cleaning them out - if you do it yourself, do not use any liquids at all.

  • External monitor for Macbook Pro MC723

Hi, I'd like to get a cheap (<£200) external monitor for my Macbook Pro MC723 ...
    1. Can I get any make of monitor or does it have to be an Apple?
    2. Which port Macbook Pro port would it connect to?
    3. Will I be able to use the monitor as a dual display, along with the macbook's screen?
    4. Do you have any recommendations?
    Many Thanks.

    1. Pretty much any make. Some monitors are MUCH better than others. Generally speaking, you get what you pay for. There may be other monitors as good as Apple's 27" models, but I've never seen one better.
    2. The Thunderbolt port.
    3. Yes.
    4. Apple Thunderbolt display.

  • I need to reprogram the delete and enter key to the left side of a external keyboard for the ipad mini. don't need the caps/lock or ctrl key and due to an injury my daughter can only use her left hand to type. She is using a text to speech app to verbaliz

I need to reprogram the delete and enter key to the left side of a external keyboard for the ipad mini. I don't need the caps/lock or ctrl key. Due to a brain injury my daughter can only use her left hand to type. She also uses a text to speech app to verbalize all of her needs since her speech isn't intelligible any longer either. And her vision was significantly affected also, so the keyboard has to be mounted about 6 inches from her face. So to reach across the keyboard with her left hand to the right side delete and enter button is physically difficult and causes typing errors, which cause people to not understand what shes trying to say.
The best keyboard so far is the Zagg folio mini. I just had to make stickers to enlarge the letters on the key buttons.
Does anyone know how I can reprogram these two keys? Or where I can buy a wireless mini keyboard for Ipad made for lefthanders with these two functions on the left side. I have searched for days and days. It's sooooo important to me that she be able to contribute her voice again. Imagine if you got in a car accident and couldn't speak clearly any longer, but understood everything still. Thanks for any help and suggestions you all take the time to share with me. I really appreciate the kindness of strangers to help me help my daughter.

    You cannot.

  • My headphone port no longer connects to external speaker

The external speaker works with my phone so I know the speaker works. The speaker doesn't work with the hdmi cable and was working right before I connected the cable. Now it doesn't work with iTunes or anything coming from the computer. Just my phone.

    Hi inthetrees,
Happy New Year!  If you are not hearing sound from your headphone jack on your computer, I have a few things you can try.  First, disconnect the cable from the headphone jack and restart your computer.  This might reset everything.
If that doesn't resolve the issue, take a look at the article below and confirm the sound output settings for your external speaker.  The article is for our most recent operating system, but the instructions for accessing the sound settings is the same.
OS X Yosemite: Adjust your computer’s sound output settings
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH18960
You can play sound through your computer’s internal speakers, your display’s speakers (if it has speakers), or through speakers, headphones, or other equipment plugged into your Mac or available wirelessly through AirPlay.
Before you start, open the Output pane of Sound preferences (choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Sound, then click Output).
    Choose a sound output device
From the list of sound output devices, select the one you want to use. All sound output devices available to your Mac are listed, including the computer’s internal speakers, devices plugged into your computer’s sound port (), USB speakers, and AirPlay devices.
For any device plugged into the computer’s sound port, choose Headphones.
    Adjust sound output settings
You can adjust balance and volume for sound output with the controls in the preference pane. If you select the “Show volume in menu bar checkbox,” a volume control appears in the menu bar so that you can turn the volume up or down from anywhere. To set a separate volume for alert sounds, click the Sound Effects tab.
Depending on your Mac and the devices you use, you may be able to set other volume options using the Audio MIDI Setup app.
If you use apps that have volume controls (for example, iTunes or iMovie), their settings can only be equal to or less than the computer’s output volume. They do not override the settings you choose in Sound preferences.
Adjust your computer’s sound input settings
If you can’t hear sound from your speakers
If a selected audio device reverts to another audio device
I hope this information helps ....

  • External speaker won't work

I have a BlackBerry Curve 8310 and the external speaker won't work. I don't get any notification of calls, texts, etc. I had a new external speaker put in but that didn't fix the problem. Anybody have any ideas of what else could be wrong? My phone is no longer under warranty, so AT&T will not replace my phone.

The same thing happened to me. Go to Applications and then the Utilities Folder and then open the Audio Midi Setup app. Make sure the default output and system output are set to the built in output. The same symptoms happened to me when I ad reset those options to an aggregate device I created for some simple music production. Setting the above setting back to the defaults made everything better.

  • IMac 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, running Lion 10.7.3, won't recognize external speaker jack, any suggestions?

iMac 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, running Lion 10.7.3, won't recognize external speaker jack, any suggestions?  Got a brand new iMac and purchased external speakers for same.  Hooked them into external speaker jack and the computer does not recognize the external speaker jack.  I then plugged them into the external head phone jack and the computer recognized the head phone jack.  How can I get the computer to recognize the speaker jack?

Thanks "a brody," my mistake, I was mistaking the "audio in" jack for a speaker output jack.  I have some Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers with a built in amplifier that I am using and they sound beautiful.  I do have them plugged into the correct jack, but was thinking there was a speaker out put and headphone out put.
Thanks again for correcting me, I feel much better now that I know my brand new iMac isn't defective, lol.
