External speaker not loud (xloud not working)

Hi everyone.
The external speaker is not producing enough sound to hear a ringtone or music . There was a huge difference when i was using the xloud function 2 months ago.
I took a backup and used the SUS to update with latest kitkat, still the same problem

It might be a hardware issue, you should stop by a Sony repair center

A few days ago I tried to help a guy with Bose External Speakers and we found the male jack isn't quite long enough to make the connection:
    PROBLEM SOLVED!!
Just to share information for others who might come across this problem with Bose or any other external speakers, where the male jack doesn't quite go in far enough for the MacBook to recognize it, here is the solution that worked for me:

This is a very inexpensive solution and works great for me.  I'm listening to my Bose speakers now and they sound great!!  Thank you to all of you for your suggestions and help troubleshooting.

  • External Speaker not Working Properly

Ok, i have this annoying problem with the external transducer...basically sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
This kinda disrupts all the allarm options as i can't rely on a device that "eventually" will work.
This is the second iPod Touch i change and the problem is the same so i guess it is not an hardware fault but most likely software.
Has anyone ever encountered a problem like this one?

  • External speaker not working anymore

I just got an iPhone 4 yesterday. The external speaker was fine until I hooked it up the earbuds. I removed the earbuds and now I cannot hear anything from the external speaker. I can't hear my phone ring. I can make a call, but can't use the speaker option. Can't hear music unless I put in the earbuds or hook it up to my home speaker.  I tried unplugging the speaker cables a few times like someone said in another forum. That worked for a little while, but then the sound went away again. I tried rebooting.  Help.

I know this might sound stupid but, you do have the ringer volume turned up don't you. The only reason I ask is, I did exactly the same thing this morning, took me 15 mins before I realised what I had done.

  • External speaker not working

On a new iphone 5, my external sound (speaker) doesnt work for any application (itunes, ring tones, messaging etc).  I backed up my old iphone 3 and sync'd onto new device, but I'm not sure if the external sound worked before (ie in factory new condition).  The internal jack seems to work fine.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    GP

When the ringer switch is on (not vibrate) and you are in the phone with the screen on, press the volume controls on the side of the phone. If it says "Ringer (headphones)" then your phone is stuck in headphone mode. That means it will only play sound hooked up in a dock audio system or through the headphone jack.
The sensor that tells the iPhone that the headphone is plugged in is faulty or dirty. I have the same problem and no solution has worked. You may also try cleaning out the headphone port with 409 and a qtip with half the tip cut off.
I've tried both solutions to no use and will probably have to go to an apple store.
I also cannot talk on the phone without a headset or a bluetooth device.

  • IPhone 4 ear speaker not working

Looking for more info regarding this problem..
Purchased iPhone 4 for my wife and I last month.
My iPhone ear-speaker went dead, but the external speaker, plug-in wired ear-phones work, and mic still work.
I went to take it in, and then the darn thing started working again. lol  Same thing happened early this week - not working, then it started working again.
Now my wife's iPhone 4 is starting to do the same thing. argh!
Not really sure if it's hardware or software.. but anyone else on this forum experiencing this same problem?

Yes. My Bluetooth on my iPhone 4 is enabled (to sync with my car).
But my wife's iPhone 4's Bluetooth is not.
I Googled this "ear-speaker problem" and found a few other reports, but no solutions (on Apple support forums).
Just wondering if the people of this forum encountered the same thing.. thanks for your fast reply !

  • External subwoofer not working with Satellite C55t-A5222

When I plug in an external speaker system into my laptop, the speakers work, but the subwoofer does not. I have tried two different speaker systems and have the same problem. I know the subwoofer works, because when I connect an ipod or iphone to the speakers through bluetooth, the sound is great. How can I get the same sound when the speakers are connected directly to my Satellite C55t-A5222 laptop? I have verified that I have the latest driver for my sound.

I was having the same problem, so I called Customer Service. The Tech diagnosed the problem with the Realtek HD Audio Manager. I had upgraded to Windows 8.1 from 8.0 so some of the drivers and devices my not have installed correctly, he guessed.
He went Control Panel > Hardware and Sound
Under Devices and Printers he selected Device Manager>Sound, video and game conroller>
He seleced Realtek High Definition Audio
He went to the Driver Tab and selected 'Uninstall"
He uninstalled the Realtek Device and rebooted my laptop.
After the Reboot, he went back to Control Panel>Hardware and Sound  and went all the way at the bottom selected "Realtek HD  Audio Manager. I don't recall if it was there before, but I assumed it wasn't since he was not able to find it previously.
The then opened up the Realtek HD Audio Manager and selected  DTS Tab and clicked the 'Launch' Button. He then selected 'External Speakers and 'Viola' My External Cyber Acoustics CA-3602 2.1 Speakers including the Sub Woofer were 'shaking' my office again!  YEAH!!
He said that each time I want to use the External Speakers and Headset I might have to select it in the Realteck HD Audio Manager if it is not working!    THANKS "SAM" (my Toshiba Tech Guy's psuedonym)
    Hope this helps you guys

  • After iOS 5 update, speaker not working

I updated to i05s last night and tried to make a call this morning and could not hear out of the ear speaker. The "speaker-phone" feature works, but that's the only way I can hear because I can't hear anything when I hold the phone to my ear.

    Hi Guys,  I FIXED IT!!!!
I have post eariler on another forum and I have the same problem, I have tried all the things listed here and nothing was perminant in fixing this painful iphone hating problem.... and failed.  But I need to happily say that I now have the fix!!!!  This worked for me and I fixed it by myself so you don't need to go to apple or service centre or anything.
Ok I like so many of you here truly believed this was as IO5 issue as it only dropped the sound on the speakers once that IO5 update came along.  I tried a bunch of reset, reboots, home clicks, lock and unlocks, to fix this and all failed.  some worked for an hour but then failed.  hours of my life that I will never get back.   but since I have learnt this is not a IO5 problem but a hardware issue! ...  and in paticualar is has to do with your bottom connection.  Your phone is thinking it is docked all the time.
To fix the no sound problem what you need is...
    1.  a torch
    2.  a tooth brush
    3.  methalated spirits
    4. a butter knife
    Step 1.
get your torch and shine it down the bottom connection plate to see what kind of dust, sand, hair or anything you have stuck in there.   all that need to be removed!  everything!  it might look clean but still thats ok go to step 2.
    step 2.
Turn on your music app and put the speakers on!  If your phone is like mine it should not work.  you most probably don't even have the volume display to turn it on but its ok, just do it! and it should still play with no sound.   its important you try and run the speakers as this will show you that it is a hardware problem.
    step 3.
Dip your tooth brush into some methated sprits.   then at your sink tap the exess metho out of your brush as you just want the brushes to be slightly damp, not soaking wet and then scrub the bottom connetiors on your iphone.  work the brush back and forward in a way that scoops the dirt out of the phone, not just pushing it side to side.
(As you bushing you should notice the volume bar come back on or off as you scub.   This happened to me and that is how I realised I was on the right track to fixing this problem as I was doing something external that was actually controling when the volume display came on or off.   but once I cleaned it this still didn't fix the problem...)
    Step 4.
Use the back side of a butter knife (not the sharp side) to gently slide over the connectors on the iphone.  Do this gently as you are only pushing down on the tiny metal contect bars and you should notice the volume display come on again.  slide it back and forward.  Now the area of interest is about 2/3 along the connection plate to the right.   This is the area that has the infomation sent when your iphone thinks its docked.
This has worked for me and I have not had a problem since I did this 2 weeks ago.   I have since learnt that the new IOS 5 has activated a different part of the bottom conectors.  if you have been using dodgy connectors or unapproved apple cables (as I was)  any damage or hair and dirt on the terminal this is effecting it.  Try it.   just remember if you can do something external to your phone then there lies the problem.
Hope this works for your phone as it did for mine.
    Cheers
