External speakers to Model 40E210U1

Is there any way to connect external speakers any other way than digital audio out connection or is there an adapter available?

This is not a product advertisement or endorsement. I had the same question, and thought I could contribute to the topic.
On Amazon, do a search for: fiio d3, specifically the item priced at $25.95 (and includes an optical cable).
I don't own one so I can't speak to how well it works, but the reviews are quite positive.
Be sure to read the product notes as there are some significant restrictions, like the loss of surround sound and the TV must support PCM output.

  • Connecting external speakers to TV model 50L2200U

I purchased a 3 pc speaker set that connects with the 1/8" audio jack.  My problem is I can't disable the TV speakers and control the sound with my TV remote with the external amplified speakers hooked up. Any ideas?

Do your speakers respond to remote commands directly? On my Toshiba TV, I turned down my TV speakers all the way. When I set up my external speakers, it had me press the volume up and volume down buttons so it could learn those buttons. Instead, I hit the rewind and fast-forward buttons (reverse and forward, perhaps?) instead. So my volume up and down buttons control the TV's speakers and by rewind and fast-forward buttons control my sound system. It's been working really well for me actually.

  • Strange issue with external monitor, only working when external speakers plugged in (using Thunderbolt to VGA adaptor)

Hey – I am having a very strange issue with my external monitor; where it only works if my external speakers are plugged in and connected.
I am using a late 2011 Macbook pro, running Mavericks 10.9.4, along with an MBox 2 (USB Audio Interface), and two powered speakers (KRK Rokit 5). This setup has had no issues. I have just acquired an external monitor (Benq T2200HD), which I am using with a thunderbolt to VGA adaptor (a cheap Chinese knockoff adaptor).
To start - I plugged the monitor in with the thunderbolt adaptor, and it powers up and works fine. However, there is a nasty buzz coming from the speakers. I did some research and it looks like a simple ground loop issue. I did a bit of troubleshooting, and this is where things get weird.
What I found is - If I unplug the MBox, the monitor loses signal from the computer (displaying ‘No Signal Detected!’). Further, if I keep the MBox plugged in, however unplug both the cables from the MBox to the speakers, the monitor loses signal. It doesn’t matter if the speakers are turned off, however they need to be plugged in (or the monitor loses signal). Weirder still, I can unplug the MBox, however the monitor will work if I plug in the speakers through my macs headphone jack.
Simply put, the monitor only works if there is a direct connection between the computer, the speakers, and the power source.  What is going on here? Is the monitor grounding through the computer port, to the speakers (I don’t know how this works, is this possible?). Could it somehow be the cheap VGA adaptor I am using?
    Some other information:
    - Everything is plugged into the same multi-box for power. I have tried plugging things into separate sources, and the result is the same.
    - If I unplug the thunderbolt adaptor, then the speaker noise disappears straight away.
    - The ground noise doesn’t appear in my headphones, which are plugged into the MBox.
Any information would be great – am I missing something here, or is this genuinely weird?

Well, I went back into Best Buy to test on 3 other laptops (2 Asus, and their floor model for this Sony). It seems to be doing the same problem so at least I was able to rule out broken hardware issue on my particular laptop.
Here's what I did to test:
Since I couldn't really install Adobe Premiere on their machines, I used the DVIO software (http://www.carr-engineering.com/dvio.htm) and a 5 min clip I captured.  I transferred onto their machines, hooked up my Sony D8, and attempted to play the video.  It would play for 15 seconds and then stop and jitter with a loud noise (like it does on my laptop).  I even tried changing each machine's firewire driver to the legacy one and same results.  I pulled a brand new 4 pin to 4 pin firewire cable off their shelf and still the same problem.
I think I've nailed it down to Win7x64 bit Home Edition not playing nice with Firewire driver.  Very annoying.  I can't find any concrete evidence of this from other users on any of the forums that have my particular problem, but from my own testing, it's all I can conclude.
I have 2 other things I can try:
    1.  Opening the laptop and looking at the firewire to maybe find appropriate driver (ugh, I don't want to have to open this thing up).
    2.  Upgrading to Win7x64bit Pro and possibly testing with XP on the new MS Virtual PC (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/).  I can't do it with my Home edition apparantly.
Who needs to view video on an external TV anyways....sheeesh...(scarcasm).

  • External Speakers not working with docking station

A thinkpad is in a docking station and external speakers are plugged in, they don't have any sound. The speakers work fine if they are plugged into the laptop itself. Does anyone have the solution?

    Hi, sjadnew
Apologies, as I wasn't too clear in my last post. If you look on the bottom of the computer, you should see a seven digit code in the format of XXXX-XXX, which is your machine's make and model. If you look on the bottom of the docking station, you should also see a model number, though it may be in a different format. This information can be used to look up the exact docking station and computer hardware to better diagnose. If possible, I would try putting in a request with the IT department to see if you can get the drivers updated.
    Best,

  • External Speakers Randomly Stop Working until I "Test" or Disable/Enable

    I'm using a HP Pavillion DV6 Notebook PC Running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1.
External speakers randomly stop working until I "test" or disable/enable them. Headphone/HDMI Audio Works.
    Background
-Recently had to do a clean install of windows.
-Went to the HP Drivers Website and downloaded all of the latest drivers.
-I installed several other programs as well (Flash, Steam, Media Player, Browser)
    -The problem started
    Current Settings
-My deafult device is "Speakers and Headphones: IDT High Definition Audio CODEC"
    -Enhancements are disabled
-Bass and Treble are set to 4
-Format is set to 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality)
-Allowing applications to take exclusive control of the device or not doesn't make a difference (but it's currently off)
    Troubleshooting
-The audio works by plugging in headphones or using an HDMI device
-The audio comes back if I go to my sound settings and hit "Test", or if I disable and re-enable the device
    Error Messages
-Youtube starts the video for 3 seconds, restarts and sputters a bit, and then says that there was an error
-My media player (MusicBee) gives me this message: "Unable to start playback (Error = BASS_ERROR_BUFLOST)"
That's everything I can think of. Any ideas?

I see that you are having a frustrating time with the sound to your external speakers. Have you tried connecting the speakers to another computer to see if is a hardware issue with the speakers? Do the regular speakers work? What is your product number as there are several models in the dv6 series?

  • Watching DVD's with external speakers?

We like to watch DVD's on our Air. Is there a way to hook up external speakers? I know the Superdrive won't work through a hub. Any ideas or suggestions?

I don't believe such an adapter exists, as a USB device would need software to control it. The software would not be able to "see" the USB device if it passes through the audio jack. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong and have a link to an appropriate adapter.)
If I may ask, is the built-in speaker not sufficient? Or are you trying to hook up the MBA to a large screen TV? If the later, then a simple cable to connect the headphone jack to the TV would be the simplest.
Even just some models of "basic" MP3 powered speakers are very good and are of reasonable cost. I have some off-brand powered speakers that were supposed to match the shape and color of the old CRT iMacs. I got them for $30 new several years ago, when the CRT iMacs where still being sold. The speakers have very good clean bass, not mushy, and are much louder than anything I've heard for under $50, yet still have quite good mid-range clarity. My point is that you may just want to try shopping for some different speakers as you may find some really good ones for a decent price.

  • How to install external speakers so they work?

    Model: C875D - S7120
    Part No.: PSCBEU - 01100F
I was given a set of Arctic S111 USB-powered speakers for my laptop, but I can't seem to get them to work. I plugged in the USB on the left side where I normally put the plug for my cooler. Nothing happened, the sound continued to play out of the internal speakers. I had no luck inserting the USB on the right side, either.
Am I doing something wrong or are these maybe just the wrong kind of external speakers for my computer?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I see those speakers don't have a separate power supply. It could be that your USB ports do not supply sufficient power, but that seems unlikely. Special cables are available for that situation.

Also, my Click-to-plugin plugin doesnt work either although it is set to work and enabled properly. Everything worked fine until this update. So, how do I fix this, OR how to I get to the former state I was before? Can I rool back to the former Flash version??

  • Bad clicking popping sound when macbook plugged into external speakers

I have a black MacBook Core Duo, a white Macbook Core 2 Duo, and a Macbook Pro Core Duo that are suddenly ALL exhibiting horrible behavior when plugged into external speakers using the 1/8th inch headphone output converted to RCA to connect to the speakers.
I have always known that sometime in the last year or 2, one of the OS updates introduced a popping noise when the audio system has been idle and then suddenly fires a sound again after being quiet for a while.
But now all 3 of these machines, all running 10.6.7 with all current available software updates are exhibiting a clicking / popping /crackling sound almost CONSTANTLY when hooked up to the same set of speakers I've had for years. I tested with other speakers just to make sure the noise is still there.
Every time someone goes on or offline in my ichat buddy list, the crackling noise that accompanies the typical buddy available/unavailable sound is extremely irritating.
Every time I hit the volume up or down button I hear the awful noise alone with the volume feedback sound. If I keep hitting volume up or down FAST repeatedly, the sound goes away. But the moment I stop doing anything for even 1-2 seconds, and then touch the volume up/down buttons again, the cracking sound returns.
I have no idea what software update introduced this problem or what the heck is going on. I have booted these machines from external drives with a fresh install of 10.6.7. I've tried 10.5.8. Nothing works.
It's like some kind of firmware has permanently screwed up the 1/8th inch output on all of these machines when hooked up to external speakers. And these are all completely different model laptops
I do not hear the noise through these laptops' internal speakers, or if I plug headphones directly into their headphone jacks.
I have had to install an M-Audio USB Micro onto my main laptop to use it's 1/8th inch stereo out to connect to my speakers in order to eliminate this horrible noise. But this should NOT be necessary and I am not satisfied with this fix as a permanent solution.
I'm astonished to find this problem on ALL THREE of these different laptops suddenly.
The Anti Pop program did not alleviate the problem. Please help. Apple please issue software fixes to get rid of these problems once and for all.

  • When using external speakers, they won't unmute

I am using a U530 Touch with Realtek HD Audio driver version 6.0.1.7535 and Windows 10 build 10240. When using external speakers, everything works fine, except when I mute speakers they will not unmute without unplugging the 3.5 mm speaker jack and plugging it back in to the unit. Using the laptop's internal speakers does not produce the same proplem (mute/unmute works fine). I have looked at every setting and find nothing, nor have I seen this problem reported in the forums. 1st Gen shuffle was white, plastic, and shaped like a chewing gum package.
2nd Gen shuffle is aluminum, with a spring clip on the back and comes in silve and assorted colors...
When the shuffle is connected to the external speakers(bought at the same

Does it play through the earphones after this happens? Does it still have power or is the battery depleted after it stops playing?

  • (HELP PLEASE) System Sound & Set of External Speakers

    Hello,
I have a HP Pavilion All-in-One and in the past we've had no problem with neither the system sound or a set of speakers we've hooked up to it. Now suddenly I can only hear audio is I turn it up to 95 or above to hear it at any volume worth listening too, but turning it up that high used to almost blow you out.
Some changes or differences I "think" I notice are when you click on the volume icon in the sys tray, there is only one "mixer" but if you click on that it shows two things, which I don't think it has described them like this before, but it shows like the picture below.
I don't recall ever seeing the "Applications - System Sounds" before. But we can't get the extra speaker set to work and I remember turning the volume up to 6 if I wanted to hear it without disturbing anyone else in the house.
Anyone have any suggestions? The only thing that I know that was changed lately was we switched to AT&T internet but I believe the external speakers worked fine after the installtion. Any help would be appreciated!!

  • Audio pops/clicks when using external speakers

Here's the problem -- When my Mac plays a sound and it had not played any sounds for a while, it always pops (or clicks, same thing, just a matter of magnitude). There is no pop if there was sound recently, like in the last 3 minutes or so.
My iMac is an aluminum 20" model purchased in May 2008. I have external speakers playing audio. I don't think the pop happens when it's just the internal speakers.
Is there an audio driver update? The Software Update menu doesn't find anything newer to install for me. The pop is very irritating and I consider this Mac to be broken with respect to audio output.

Finally, a workaround. From another thread I learned that this is an old issue. The Mac shuts off the audio output electronics after some period of inactivity. When it reactivates, an audible pop happens. It's an old issue that Apple for some stupid reason doesn't care to solve. For a company that espouses fluid, integrated user experience, it is incredible that Apple could allow such a glaring audio defect to persist through so many generations of products. Surely they must realize many users will be connecting external amplified speaker systems to the analog audio out port. Doesn't anyone at Apple test the computers against the variety of input loads the audio output circuitry will be interfaced to? I understand that Apple has no control over the variety input impedances and DC biases their audio output electronics will see. But I think the popping could be avoided if they just employed a simpler scheme where the audio electronics do shut off. They are too smart for their own good.
That said, the hack that is so far working for me is this freeware utility KeepSoundAwake that plays an inaudible sound periodically. I would much rather see a solution in the firmware.
