External Speakers with Two Input Wires?

My new HP Pavilion G7 has one external audio out connector but my speakers have two inputs, one for the bass woofer and another for the regular speakers. Both wires connect to the woofer and are then sent to the regular speakers. Is there any way I can use both these inputs for my system or am I stuck with just the regular speakers?

Are you saying that your woofer and speaker work independently? We should be looking for main Audio In Cable if woofer and speakers are connected to each other. Please provide me the make and model of the speaker set so that we can look for more information on this.

Hi,
I find the in-built speaker volume level very low when i webcam with iChat. I would like to be able to switch to external speakers but can't find a way to do it.
I am using Airport Express to connect to Internet and some external speakers are plugged to it. I expected Preferences/Sound/Output to let me switch to those but they just don't appear in the list.
Is there a way to use external speakers with iChat ?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions
The person at the other end can increase the volume at their end.
The go to System preferences > Sound > Input tab.
For you to switch Output devices you have to go to System Preferences > Sound > Output tab.
Also in iChat > Preferences > Video section - if there is a choice of Output devices there will be a additional drop down to change the choice.
As your speakers are beyond the Airport device they are unlikely to show up. They would have to be connected to the Mac.

How can i control graph with two inputs?

Hi,
i would like to ask you about the graph with two inputs
Normally, if i just give one input, they generate the graph with this input(y) vs time(x).
But now i would like to get the graph with my two inputs in x axis and y axis .
i want to control both of two axis. How could i do for it ?
i attached the file that i try to use "Build XY graph" to control both x and y axis with random number .
It can run but i don't know how come the graph show nothing. .
Actually , it have to show something like wavefrom continuously. am i right?
Could you tell me a way to solve it ?

Mind me to interrupt, I am just helping Mike to explain what he meant to you, refer to the graph:
Picture 1:
Double click on Build XY Graph, uncheck the clear data on each call
Picture 2 and 3:
Change your formula node into +1 Basic Function in Functions Pallette.

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Check also Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing. Make sure that the sound balance is not set all the way to "R".
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

They have to be either plugged in via headphone jack or the dock port at the bottom. If you can. I've used it on apple tv, but that's it. I don't know if the others work, but I don't see why not. Try plugging in speakers in the headphone jack. You will get an answer :)

External speakers with 17" Powerbook

I am having a problem getting my PB 17" to play through a set of external Logitech speakers (mm50's). They are mainly used with my iPod for travelling, but on occasions, I want to utilise them with my Powerbook. When I connected it via the USB port and the speaker connector, I got nothing. The computer continued to play through the built in speakers. I have tried through system prefs - sound - output - but it only indicates output through internal speakers - no option for adding external speakers. Any ideas?

Are you sure these speakers include the functionality to play music via the USB connector? I've had a quick look at the Logitech site and it doesn't seem to suggest they do. (Also the fact that the USB connection isn't recognised as an audio output device reinforces this idea in my mind.)
If that is the case you'd need to run an audio cable from the output socket on the PowerBook to the auxiliary input on the speakers.

I have an extra computer monitor (DVI input) and external speakers (3.5mm male audio jack.) Is there some combination of adapters that I can use to hook up an apple tv to them in order to stream from netflix, and my itunes library?

no but you can get tons of solutions where you connect something to your tv's minijack headset connector and then it wireless transfer the audio signal to a headset
there are both bluetooth solutions belkin have one I use and there are also solutions where the headset is included and they use their own custom protocol
but mind you there is no way to keep such setups in sync in terms of video and audio so if the system is poor in quality or pre-process the audio signal too much it cause audio and visuals to get out of sync

IMac external speakers with connection problems to other devices

I've got two sphere like little speakers of a defective "lamp" iMac and would like to connect them elsewhere. I skinned the cable and found 3 wires (blue, white, outer wrapped around) instead of 2 expected. How shall I attach them to my audio device?
I'd love you giving me helpful advices.

If so, they are Apple Pro speakers and the third wire is for power. They used a special jack that supplied their power and cannot get power from a conventional audio-out port.
There was an adaptor from Griffin Technologies called the iFire ( http://www.griffintechnology.com/support/ifire ) that let you use Apple Pro Speakers on conventional audio ports, but it is out of production and those still on the market demands more than many used Macs are worth. I saw one on Amazon for US$300!
I suggest you do your own search for "griffin iFire" to see if you can fins a cheaper iFire.

The special thing about is, that I'm using two <input type="submit"...> buttons.
The idea is, that I'd like to add one more row with attributes by clicking the "add" button and removing one row by clicking the "remove" button.
If I use just one of them, it works fine. If I use both of them, nothing happens at all.
Isn't it allowed to use two <input type="submit"...> fields?
Is there an alternative? How can I implement my form the correct way?

External speakers with built in speakers?

Is there a way to have audio come out through both built in speakers and external speakers?

The only way that comes to my mind is in the latest versions of iTunes using Airtunes, and this obviously applies only to sound comin from iTunes.
When using a pair of external speakers connected to the AirportExpress, you click on both "Computer" and "Airport" in iTunes output menu (next to the buttons for Equalizer, Full screen, eject). Now everything that goes through iTunes will be heard on the computer and on the external speakers.
This does not work with any other source of sound in your computer (quicktime, DVD player, VLC, etcétera), only with iTunes.

No sound to external speakers with G4 & OS 9

Hello everyone,
I am running a G4 Mirrored Doors 1.25gHz/1.25 GB RAM. OS boots from its own drive. OS X boots from a different drive. I have a standard mini-jack to RCA left and right jacks cable hooked up from the external sound out port on the back of the machine to an pre-amp and speakers.
I have always received great sound using this set-up when it was hooked up to my old G4 450. However, since I hooked the system up to the new G4 described above, I can only get sound out of the lousy front speaker. It will not come out of the speakers hooked up to the amp.
The Sound control panel does not recognize that there are speakers hooked up. I have tried trashing the Sound preferences to no avail.
When booting into Tiger, sound comes from my external speakers just fine. No problems whatsoever.
Does anyone have any suggestions on this?

I don't think so.
There are two ports. One is clearly for the apple powered speakers and takes a different mini jack. Like I said, it plays fine in the OS X system, but not the OS 9 system. Anyone else have any ideas?

External Speakers with MacBook

Can I use the spheric glass speakers that came with my iMac flat-panel on my MacBook ?

You need to use powered external speakers on the macbook. The spherical ones that came with the iMac a long time ago have are designed to work off the built in amplifier that came with that iMac and I believe it had a special connector. Griffin used to sale a powered interface that would allow you to use them with other computers, but I don't know if they sale it anymore.
I use Harman kardon's soundsticks II with my macbook. It has great sound and I got them off of Amazon a while back on sale for 79 bucks.

Docking an iPhone onto external speakers with the sleeve/case on

Briefly: is it possible? I have a nice "Case-mate" leather-like case for my iPhone, but I have discovered that in order to dock it onto external speakers I have to take it out of the case, which is not easy (it's a nice snug fit). Are there any docks where I don't have to take it out of the case? (Or, alternatively, are there any cases which don't interfere with docking?)

Would a battery pack that has a USB "port" instead of a "dock" connector meet your needs?

External drive with two computers?

Before long, I'll have to get an external firewire hard drive for my iMac. I think it's going to be a Maxtor 1 Touch III 1tb Firewire 400. My question today is...if I get a laptop at some point, MacBook or MacBook Pro, will I be able to use the external drive with that as well?

Yes mate you can use it on any computer you want as long as it has a firewire 400 connection.
