External TTF Font Embedding, is this still the way?

Hey all,
I'm a typical embedder. I just embed the fonts, register them from another file and be done with it. Though I'm starting to desire to embed some ranges and also use test loading external .ttf files.
What is the best practice for embedding an external TTF at runtime? Is it still basically like this? Anything more modern? I find most blog posts on the subject range in the 2007 area.

Thanks I was just curious if it was such an old topic on the net because it never changed syntax. So it remains the same way to this day a few years later.
I also know you can embed ranges using the font manager in CS5 or CS5.5 and that's what I'm doing now. I'm just wondering if there's any advantage to embedding external .ttf files. One of which could be naming the font something generic both in the code and the filename itself like font.ttf and being able to change the font externally without recompiling the SWF. I was considering options such as that.

Have you tried restarting or rebooting the iPad and then see if the volume control will work again?
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

Select a Photo in the iPhoto Window and click on the 'i' button lower right. This uncovers the Info Panel, and you can assign a Place there. Search on the name of the place and then move the pin to where you want it. This is all covered in the Help and in the tutorials.

24 hours so far downloading Lion and no end in sight. Is this really the way forward?

Here in the UK a lot of us have fairly pathetic download speeds, so I ask Apple is this really the way forward?

Same for me - started 20.July about 7pm in germany with VDSL capable of 2.5MB/s
Download Started well soon but dropped to about 300KB/s. Stopped and went to bed at about 10pm.
Resumed at 21. July at 7am - between 100KB/s and 300 KB/s for about 90min. Stopped and got to work.
Resumed now at about 2:30p.m. lying between 50KB/s and 100KB/s :-(

Is this just the way it is or am I doing it wrong.

Hi all.
While everything works just fine, whenever I have a dynamic link to AE the render times can be, well, painful. So today I tried something. I rendered the same opening sequence out, as a lossless best setting (AVI 1920X1080) in AE and it took 59 seconds. I imported it into my PPro sequence and rendered it out as .264 and that took 27 seconds.
If I have a dynamic link to the same sequence in AE from PPro the render is around 17 minutes.
Am I doing sometihng wrong ? Or is that the price you pay for convenience ?

EVGA GTX560
HDD are 3 X 1 TB, OS, Source and Target.

Hi, yes, I have GPU active but I have noticed that when I render the dynamic link to AE, the GPU is only used very lightly, 2-5%. I don't have Max Render Quality checked.
So you see the same render times, for a dynamic link and a straight up AE render, that gives me hope, I'll scratch around a little more. I typically run with all defaults and have not set many preferences outside of that.

TTF fonts embeding in PDF crystal reports

Hello,
I have a report with a TTF bar code font in my crystal report. Fonts is installed on the server. Generated Pdf file is fully readable on this host.
But i think the pdf file not include the font because the pdf document does not have the bar code displayed if it is opened on a pc which hasn't got the font !!!
How to make sur that the font is embed in the generated pdf file ?
I make the report on Crystal report 8.5

Is the pdf being generated from a central location, or is each user running the report and exporting to pdf?
The font will need to be on the same machine/server that is generating the pdf.

Hi I want to publish a digital magazine and not an app is this still the ADP still the way to go?

We are a small specialized magazine and we want to publish a digital version of the magazine to be sold on Itunes. What is the process to do that? Is the ADP suite the solution? We are not looking for any special effects. Just swiping for each page and photos inserted.

Technically speaking there is none.
If you want your magazine to appear on the itunes app store it has meet minimum standards set by Apple. Having something this simple may not cut it.
They want the reader to have an experience that can’t be had any other way.
You can always try to get it past the reviewers but be prepared to have it rejected as too book like.

By removing the drive and ssh'ing into it to add the codec support. Has anyone come up with a simpler solution that is less techie and complicated?

Correct. I ended up opting the other route to convert the divx movies to h.264 compressed MP4's which work natively...took about two weeks of processing time across three systems to convert the library but works without any issues now.

Is Ciniform still the way to go for editing HD on Premiere CS4?

I may have a opportunity to edit an inde film shot in on P2 HD 1080p. However, i have a few questions....
0. can Premiere CS4 read and edit MXF files?
1. I'm not sure if my Premiere CS4 system will handle it natively without using an intermediate codec like Ciniform. The files have already been transfered to an external drive which i will then transfer to my systems' video drive. The following is my current system configuration:
. Premiere CS4
. Windows 7 x64
. 12gb of DDR3 ram
. Intel 920 quad core processor
. 1tb (2x500gb) video drive
. 1tb (2x500gb) storage drive.
2. The client is not sure the frame rate the video was shot in, either 24p or 59p. Is there a way to determine the correct frame rate so i can select the proper preset in premiere? I may be able to use VLC to view the codec information.

Url used to show in the url box when opening from a shortcut or email, but now it's not there. If I refresh the page it is. How do I get this back the way I like it?

The url of the website that I'm visiting used to show in the url box when I opened from a shortcut or email. But not it's not there unless I refresh the page. I've looked and haven't found a way to set this so that it works like it used to. I liked being able to click in the address bar and copy the link, or even to look there and see where I am.

I'm unable to check it in safe mode because the only time it happens is when I click a link and have not firefox open. For example if I would click a link in my email right now, it would open in another tab and show the address of the link I clicked. But if I didn't not have this window open and clicked alink, it would open a new window and I wouldn't be able to see the url.

When clicking CTRL+Link my new tab opens in the background window, instead of the foreground window I'm using. Is there a way to make this work the way it used to, where the new tab always opens in whatever window I was currently using?

I use a web based software for work. I go to a web page listing all employees as links (Window A). When I click an employee link a new window opens (Window B). Window B contains links, i.e. Add Client, Change Address, Change Phone Number, Change Name, Upload Photo, etc... When I hold CTRL and left click the links in Window B, the new tab opens in Window A. I don't understand why this has changed, as I've been using this method to open new tabs in my current window in both of the previous versions of Firefox.

That didn't work, but thank you very much for the offer of help. I had already tried that option.
To give you an example of what I'm speaking, I found this page that recreates the scenario.

2. Click the GO in the center of the box on their page (This creates a pop-up window with links to other programming pages)
3. CTRL+left click any of those links. The page opens in the background/original window, not the pop up window where you are currently working. And, with your solution takes me back to that window and the new tab.

The pinned app tabs work like they're supposed to until I quit Firefox. Then, when I open Firefox again, the pinned app tabs aren't there. Is this just the way the Mac version of Firefox works, or am I doing something wrong?

Because I know that the includeIn isn't creating the other buttons untill they are needed. I need them created when the button is created. That is my question, how do I get the other states to be created when the button is created so that I don't see the button flash black?

Is Fireworks buggy or is this just the way it usually is?...

Im new to Fireworks CS4 so I dont know what to expect.
But:
Is there supposed to be nothing in the behavior pallette?
It's blank.
For the 25 years I have been using every other Adobe app there is, usually the palettes I want to use have something inside them.
Makes it way easier to actually do something with them...
When you select on object on the page, isnt it supposed to move when you click and drag it?
Call me crazy, but that's a little convention Ive gotten used to.
Is there some secret trick that makes objects actually editable in Fireworks?
I have noticed that if I give up and go away for about a half an hour and come back, that same object will suddenly have changed to being movable.
Weird.
Is this an issue with non Intel machines or something?
Im trying to wrap my head around FW, but these two very basic snags are making it hard to find the love.

Update on this one:
I discovered that the frozen objects issue is really a problem with using a Wacom tablet.
Looks like maybe Fireworks does not support the use of pen tablets (Wacom tablets)
Is that possible?
I use the Wacom with just about every other app I use.
When I use a regular mouse, everything moves as expected.
When I use the Wacom, its all completely hit or miss.
Sometimes it works, most times it doesnt.
Any way to fix this problem?
