External URL links not working in .exe

I have created a training programme using Adobe Captivate 7 which includes hyperlinks to websites and documents on a DVD Rom as a .exe
I have managed to open the documents, however the URL hyperlinks are not working. I have had these working in previous versions of Adobe Captivate without having to change any 'Global Settings'. The issue being that I can't expect all of the learners who take the course to change their Global settings when they use it.
How come this has changed in the new version?

I know you said you didn't need to set Flash Security in previous versions, but I've been using Captivate since version 1 and it's always worked this way for me. Only if you publish to HTM/SWF and launch from a web server can you use Open URL actions on external files without needing to configure Flash Security.

External URL Processing not working correctly

Hi All,
I'm building and application where JSF engine will process external URL and take the user to the destined Detail page.
The user can reach this detail screen in two ways:
(1) Either login on to the system and navigating through the links.
(2) Or directly from the email-URL link
My concern relates to point 2 :
The user clicks some URL(http://localhost:8080/bt/someaction.faces?id=123456) in e-mail that will log the user into the system directly and then show the Details of the request. The details page has also other links. As I have learned recently - I'm using a ViewHandler class that overrides the createView method of the base Class com.sun.faces.application.ViewHandlerImpl. In this method for the passed request (in this case someaction.faces) I'm first processing userInformation(using cookie) and then calling return super.createView(fc, "/authdetails.jsp");
(authdetails.jsp being the details page.)
Now whenever I reach this authdetails.jsp by clicking the email URL, the subsequent links in the details page gets distorted. No matter which link(all the links are appended with "?id=123456" string) I click in the details page - instead of navigating to some other page it is opening up the same details page (by calling the DeatilsPageBean constructor) and showing a details page without any data.
However whenever I reach the details page from Login screen it is working fine.
Do I need to do some special configuration in faces-config.xml for correct processing of external URL.
Please let me know whether my approach is correct.

As an aside, let me say this:
IT IS WORKING PERFECTLY IN NETSCAPE 7.1 but not in IE 6.0.
i.e. When user clicks the link in email URL he is taken to details page. The details page has other links. When user clicks these links in Netscape 7.1 it is working fine and going to the destined pages, but not in IE 6.0.
I'm at a loss what to do!

I have created URL links in a PDF ebook using acrobat. The links work just fine in Acrobat. When I try to click on the link in ADE 2.0 some of the links aren't recognized, meaning they're not clickable. Is there a certain setting that should be used in acrobat to ensure that links are clickable in ADE?. It's important that they work in ADE because once DRM is added to the file, it will only be readable in ADE.

Clear Safari, close Safari and reset the iPad.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data.
In order to close apps in iOS 7, drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Might be worth checking on the Acrobat forum.
Also probably worth seeing if they work on v1.7.2 (*2), on Sony Reader(*1), and on ereader devices and tablet ereader apps such as Bluefire.
It could easily be a bug in ADE2.0, there are very many of them.
Lots of people including me still use 1.7.2 for that reason; but you may not have the choice of what to expect your readers to have.

(*2) There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0 (and 2.0.1). Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.

Some people have found ADE trying to upgrade automatically.
It appears (not 100% sure) that if you install ADE2.0 as a new install (not as an upgrade) that your 1.7.2 will continue to run.
Probably best to say no if 2.0.x installation asks if you want to migrate your library.

Target field in Text URL Link not working.

I'm working with CS6 creating a web-site for a client. The client has giving me a list of Publications to display on a particuter page, which is an overview of all the books that my cleint has published. The details for each book are on individual pages, which I've already created and have URL's for. The idea is to look at the overview page and if you desire, select a book title to view additional details about that particular book.
For this Overview page I've created a classic text block that contains several URL links.
Example: "This is information about book 1: URL LINK to BOOK 1 title. Great Press Book Publisher, 2010.
This is information about book 2: URL LINK to BOOK 2 Title . Great Press Book Publisher, 2011.
This is information about book 3: URL LINK to BOOK 3 Title. Great Press Book Publisher, 2012.
This is information about book 4: URL LINK to BOOK 4 title. Great Press Book Publisher, 2013."
I've placed the URL links for each respective book in the highlighetd text area for that book, represented by the BLUE text in the above example. The overview page as well as the individual book pages are publised and in my domain on-line.
Everything works fine with one exception. When I select a book link in the overview page, I want to have a New Browser window appear for that books individual page. Currently, the individual book page appears in the same browser window.
All, documentation I read says that I can set the "Target" field in Text properties to either NONE or _Blank to get a New Browser Window, but this does not seem to work.
Breaking up the text into small pieces is not an option, since Flash seems to shift text block positions when they are placed close to one another. I don't know why, it just happens. This makes the site unusable so the text block needs to remain a single text block for appearance reasons.
So, does anyone know if this is a bug in CS6?
Or does anyone know how I can get the "Target" setting to work for URL links within a block of text?

How are you assigning the links in the text? Normally if you assign a url to a textfield you can select one of four different targets, none of which is NONE (_blank, _parent, _top, _self)... so I am wondering why what you describe is different than what I'd expect.

External File Link not working

Having recently returned to RoboHelp after several years, I'm drawing on memory on how to link to external files (.doc, .xls, .pdf). I have created hyperlink in my document and while it does change appearance inline with a hyperlink (blue, bold, underline), when publishing to FlashHelp the link does not work (hand does not appear over hyperlink).
I have no doubt this is an easy question (and easily resolution!)

Most usually this is a result of using Mark Of The Web (MOTW). MOTW inhibits links locally, but they work fine once you are on the server.
If you want to test locally to ensure they work as expected, generate your FlashHelp without MOTW.

URL links not working in safari

Hello, I am unable to open URL links in Safari. (iPad) all was well until a few days ago and I must have done something! Everything else is working fine. Can anyone help me sort this out. I'm sure there is something in settings but I can't find it. Thanks in advance. Pat

Swf url links not working on local files

Tearing my hair out on this one. I have simple swf files with
links to html pages in the same directory - they work fine on the
internet, but not when they're local. I'm on a mac osx 10.4.11
FireFox and Safri. Flash pro cs3. I need the links to work on the
web & CD. I've updated flash player ... etc...

Hi Per,
Wamp server's default site folder is www. For best results, you should move your Local Site folder to www inside your wamp server. That way, when you save changes locally they are automatically saved to your local testing server.

Spaces in file and folder names are never a good idea because they get converted to %20 characters which can lead to path problems.

Multiple url links not working in flash catalyst

Hi,
I hope there is a simple solution that I have mistakenly overlooked - I have a flash catalyst file for my homepage with about 6 different url link buttons (full size images) each of which fade in one at a time, and take up the whole flash screen while visible. When one particular image (converted to button) is visible, I want people to click and go to the relevant link for that picture. However, no matter when I click on any image, the only link that works is the top button (even though it's hidden.)
I am still new to Catalyst and your help is so greatly appreciated!

I suspect it might be in how you might have made your button. Can you post your project? I can take a quick look.

External catalog link not working in SRM 7

Hi all,
We are on SRM 7.1. ECS.
We are using external catalogs in shopping cart application.However one of the vendors catalog links is not wokrin when we select items from catalog...when the items are added from catalog,the items dont get added to Shopping crat..the control goes back to Shopping cart screen but the items are not added to the cart!
I tried the steps mentioned in OSS note Note 1405908 - Issues with 3rd Party catalog integration with SRM 7.0,however that didnt fix the issue.
Also mentioned in the above note,how do I check what HOOK_URL is passed from catalog to my shopping cart application?
NOTE : This link works fine in SRM 5.0
Can someone advise me how to fix this error?

Plain Text URL links not working in the Windows 8 Mail App for only one account.

I just started using a Surface Pro, and randomly one of the accounts I have setup in the "Modern" Mail app stopped parsing the pain text URL path that was included in them. Specifically links to forum discussions. I have 4 other Win
8 devices and they display the links fine.
More confusing is this issue happens ONLY with my O365 mail account and only on one PC. I have an Outlook.com account and it renders the pain text URL as a clickable link, but when I send the same email to my O365 account it just shows up as
text, no link generated. All in the same Windows 8 Mail App.
I ran the Windows 8 App Troubleshooter, I've reinstalled the Mail app, I've removed and re-added the mail account. Nothing fixes this. Anyone know why?

Same problem for us, the link is also not rendered, if the mail is sent to an on-premise Exchange server.
Its only for plain-text messags, HTML-messages work fine.
Why is this problem ignored? The app is useless with that limitation.

URL link not working on client PCs

I created an APEX application and gave the URL to users to access the app. from their desktop. It worked fine for a while and now I can only access the app. from the server using that URL. Any idea why this is happening?

Is it an internal hostname or external? i.e.- do they get there by typing a server name or do they have to type a fully qualified url?
Can they ping the host?
I think you may need your IT department to look into this. By that error, the client PC is not even getting a request to the Apex server. Afraid this isn't one for the Apex forum.

Submit to URL link not working

I am trying to setup Submit to URL and trying to include a link in the body message of the email. When I hit submit the email message comes up with the link cut by half. example

Also, I am trying hard code the submit button but the click event in grayed out. Any suggestions?

I have a word document that has external links. Text that
links to other page or other url.
When I convert my doc (word document) into a swf using flash
paper 2 the links not work. There are still highlighted but no
linking is taking place.

I am having the same problem. At first I thought it was
because I had converted an excel file but I tried the same
information from a word document and the links do not work in the
browser or if I view the SWF file separately. Additionally, when I
convert the word file to a pdf none of the hyperlinks to pages or
documents work but the links to email addresses do.
