Externalize users error

I am trying to migrate Essbase users to Shared Services and I get the following error:
Error: 1051449: Essbase failed to get group with Error [CSS Error: Invalid Argument: Principal passed is NULL]
Any ideas?

Start Essbase in Foreground.... and capture the error..
Blow the Security and replace it from Backup which was wormking fine..start all over again for Externalisation
You can also check for PREUPM/ POSTUPM files in Essbase/Bin..if they are present then Essbase is partially externalised..you can try taking a copy of the PREUPM and rename the PREUPM to Essbase.sec and start essbase..Rexternalise.

Hello All,
We are working on a POC to upgrade to 11.1.2 and kinda stuck here.
After installing Foundation Services and Essbase on our 2008,64 bit VM , i was able to logon to the EAS console with the user ID admin.
The Essbase server was registered to a different User ID(essadmin) and I was able to add the Essbase server but however when i tried to do the Click on security->Externalize Users, i find that i don't have the option at all.
The only options available are Update Security backup file,Compact Security file and Export Security file.
What are we missing here?

Externalize users issue

we are facing issue while externalize users in essbase, not able to get finish button (version 933).
giving error that there are no users/groups to migrate, but all users & groups there & provisioned.
(refresh sec from ss option not coming, so tried to do externalize but getting this issue)
Please help...

Are you talking about refreshing security from EAS? If you are using 9.3.3 then refreshing essbase security from shared services was removed.

What's the origin of this external drive? It sounds very much like it's a Windows-formatted (NTFS) drive which Macs can't write to. If you can, copy the files off the drive, reformat it as Mac format (using Disk Utility) and copy the files back. If you need to continue writing to it from a Windows PC, you should format it ExFAT in Disk Utility.

Is my Instant Client Working or is it User Error?

From a help desk standpoint, How can I help my users to eliminate that it isn't the software and it is probably a user error? In the past I have used TNSPING to verify that at least the tns entry is being used and is communicating with a listener, but that isn't in an instant client so what do the Instant Client Experts do for testing the software?

My favourite tool is a client trace - it's no good if you have to help somebody over the phone, but it is the best diagnostic tool if you can get your hands on the machine.
It takes some practice to read Oracle client traces; if you have access to Metalink, note 156485.1 will prove helpful for you.

AD SSO "unknown user" error

Hi all,
I've been having trouble with AD SSO on NAC deployed in L2 OOB VG mode.
Users are getting a message that says:
Unknown user
Please contact your administrator if the problem persists.
I check the event logs in the NAC Manager and it says "Unknown user via ADSSO, [MAC_ADDRESS ## IP_ADDRESS] user@DOMAIN"
The AS SSO service is shown as "started" for the NAC Server however, running the command "netstat -a | grep 8910" at the terminal returns nothing.
I also try an auth test to see if there was a problem with the agent but that shows up with the same "unknown user" error.
I tried creating an LDAP authentication server with the same options as the LDAP lookup server for AD SSO and I get the same error.
The AD SSO was working a few days ago and the System Admin says he hasn't changed anything in the domain controller. I haven't changed anything else in the NAC config except I started rolling it out to more users.
Anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

The problem was that the LDAP user in the AD was in the wrong OU. I'm not the sys admin so I'm just telling you what he told me lol.
We sniffed the port of the AD server and he realised that the credentials were being denied by AD even though no failed login attempts were logged in the system (weird =/). So he did some stuff on the user, double checked the password and all the other values and it started working. I have no clue how come it stopped working though. Now that you mention it, it was probably a security patch in the domain controller that stops users in a certian OU or outside of a certain OU from doing certain stuff. I dunno I'm really not a Windows guy but I'd recommend using Wireshark to sniff the Domain Controller's NIC at the time of the AD SSO login attempts to see what packets it gets and what reply it sends out, then you can take action from there.

        I'm not able to start the CMS in CCM.It was working fine. Suddenly it went down due to some data base access failure. After that Iu2019m not able to start the CMS.
Kindly find the event viewer error and information.

Information: Central Management Server stopped
      Could you please tell me how to start the CMS in CCM? Since I can able to setup CMS Database and audit database successfully.

Brief about the problem: We are using IDM to provisining,enabling and disabling the users through Active Sync to down stream resources lilke LDAP and access manager .while enabling and disabling time On LDAP iam not getting any error but on AM i am getting the above errors.
On LDAP insted of InetUser object class we are using Orguser and attribute Orguserstatus.

i am trying to add the role 'csi normal user' , for that i have some procedure below
To add this role to a user, you need CRM HTML Administration responsibility:
1. In the Navigator, click the CRM HTML Administration responsibility.
2. Under “Setup : Users : Registration”, click User Maintenance
3. Enter full or partial username and click Go.
4. Select the applicable username from the list
5. Click Roles
6. Select the CSI Normal User role from the left pane.
7. Click Move to put it in the right pane.
8. Click Update.
i have already added crm html administrator to myself,i have sysadmin privilege,i have crm html administrator under that i have user maintanence
if i click that its showing error that i dont have privilege to view that page
error says i dont have the privilege

Crystal Reports Concurrent Users Error

We are getting a "Too Many Concurrent Users" error message when our users are trying to run a Crystal Report. This can happen even when we have only 2 persons on the system. Is there a way that we can check how many concurrent users there are and who they are ?
We have to keep restarting the Report Server and sometimes the person responsible is not available......
Could it be that the Users are not closing the Report window correctly or something like that ?
Has anybody out there experienced this problem ??

Uou can check concurrent license usage by going to the Servers section of the CMC and clicking on the Central Management Server.
The most common cause for this is that users do not log off correctly. i.e they close the browser window instead of logging off. The problem is that there is no foolproof method to determine a browser close (in IE 7+). As a result, the session remains active even though the user has closed the session.
What application server do you use? Is it Apache/Tomcat/other Java application server or IIS/.NET?

Hi, I am getting the problem item already locked by User error when i try to edit a user idm 6.0 So, any solution for this?

The basic reason for this error is the object you are trying to access is already locked by another user (helpdesk/ proxy user or admin).
Generally you can check the lock status who has the active lock on the object from the lh console also.

6D flash sync problem; flash not reporting to body? Firmware glitch? User error?

I was shooting my 6D today at the aviary. I believe I was in TV mode. Had my Canon 320EX speedlite on. I had been shooting with the flash off but turned it on. The shutter was set at 1/400th. The ISO was, I know, still set from the last room I was in, which was dark, so it is at ISO 3200.
All the birds depicted were actually whole animals; no half-birds were anywhere to be seen.
Anyway, the camera failed to reduce the shutter to the camera's max sync speed (1/180) like you expect it to do. As a result, the flash was clearly out of sync with the shutter.
Also, the metadata says "flash did not fire". But obviously it did fire.
Could this be a firmware glitch? Bad camera? Some obvious user error I am overlooking?

Assuming the flash & camera are 100% compatible (newer models of bodies aren't always happy with older strobes) AND based on some problems I've had with my 1Ds2 & 580 EX it may be that the flash isn't as far forward into the hot shoe as possible, or even if it is it's not making PERFECT connections on all 5 terminals. I've had that problem a few times & now check for it. If I don't get the result I expect on my test shots (to check exposure) I wiggle & re adjust until I do get the right result.

Imovie won't finalize-'Parameter User Error'?

Help!! I click finalize for my project-5 hours later come back and it says 'unable to prepare to publish' and some crap about 'Parameter Error-user error list'.
I've been dealing with for 3 days-never had a problem prior.
Is there a limit as to how short a clip can be, and could this be the problem? (Some of mine are 8 to 10 seconds)

I'm sorry you're encountering this issue.
I used Tech Tool Pro, $99. (http://www.micromat.com/techtool-pro-6-learn-more-details).
It has a feature for Volume Optimization. For me, it took running it overnight to optimize my hard drives; the primary hard scratch drive and the location of the project and output movie file.
I've since read that there are other software programs that will perform a similar service.
