Extigy new install, needs XP SP2 disc

I have owned a Sound Blaster Extigy external card for many years now, and had it have had it hooked up to my laptop for soem time now with no problems. The backlight has now gone out on my laptop, so I decided to hook the Extigy up to my PC instead while I repair my laptop.
I have gone through the entire install process, but when it is loading the XP drivers, I get a message saying that some files have been changed, and I need to insert my Windows XP Service Pack 2 CD-Rom. I do not have one. My computer came with an older version of WinXP, and my upgrade to SP2 was all done through automatic updates.
How do I install the Extigy without a disc that I've never had, and never needed in the past?
I have downloaded all driver updates from the Creative site, uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times, even did a system recovery to be sure everything would be uninstalled before I tried again.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same problem. No audio or internet. Can't adjust the volume in the control panel because the volume control is grayed out. An active ethernet network is detected but no internet connection.
I installed Win XP Pro SP2 from an OEM disc, which I was assured is identical to the retail version (which is no longer available).
Installation via bootcamp was anything but smooth and I first thought it wouldn't work.
Used the FAT32 format.
Other info: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16GHz white iMac; 1.5G RAM.

  • New install, need drivers!

Hey all. Avid user here, first post since I found nothing on this.
So I have a MacBook with 10.5.1 on it, and decided I would use my spare 30gb of space to put a 20gb boot camp install of Vista since i lost my key for XP
well all that aside, i have installed vista just fine, everything seems to work as far as booting into both operating systems. unfortunately, when installing windows using boot camp, i came across new instructions for installation which stated i had to insert my leopard disc to install drivers and the like applications, instead of burn a cd of drivers as in the beta. this saddened me to great extents as i need windows to connect to my school's server (the tech guy tried helping me but said he doesnt know how to set it up on a mac, only windows... fool...) so anyways, i am sad because after installing windows and trying to set things up, i realized i have misplaced my leopard disc. i tore the house apart but can not find it. (its the leopard disc, not a disc included with the macbook, as i purchased it with 10.4.8 on it). is there ANY way i can download and burn the needed drivers and applications? i need to get this to work!

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
sorry no download possibility for the BootCamp 2.0 (Leopard) drivers.
Only source is the OSX Leopard DVD.
Search again and if you indeed do not find the DVD you can try and call Apple for a replacement, for which they most likely will charge you some dollars.

  • Need New Install Disc

    Hi Everyone,
I'm a registered owner of a Macbook Pro and one of my adorable two-year old twins has used my install disc as a Barbie skate board (data side down!--although exactly which twin it was is still a mystery as they both deny it--I think I'm in for trouble!!). So my question is simple, where can I get or download a new install disc from?

  • How to install a new hard drive without bootable disc/usb

Hi- my hard drive has totally failed and although I can get into disk utility it won't let me create images and keeps coming up with input/output errors when I try.
I don't have another mac to work from and have no discs whatsoever even for older OS versions
I've ordered a new hard drive(a seagate 750GB 7400rpm one) but how do I get mountain lion on the new hard drive without any discs? If I just put in my new hard drive will it come up with an option? I have a mid 2009 MBP if that helps

I have a mid 2009 MBP if that helps
    Here is how it helps:
You need the Utilities from Recovery_HD. Your broken Mac can boot from a Thumb drive.
Use this article to download this Utility to copy the Recovery_HD from your older, working Mac to a minimum 1GB USB thumb drive:
OS X: About Recovery Disk Assistant
Then boot the new mac with the thumb drive by holding down Alt/Option, wait wait wait while it draws an Icon for each bootable Volume, choose the Recovery_HD, choose proceed arrow, and use Disk Utility to erase the drive and create GUID partition Map, 1 partition, Mac OS X Extended (journaled). Then install Mac OS X by download.

  • New HD and can't clean install with SL upgrade disc

    I am really stuck here...
My '07 white MacBook HD died last week. It originally came with Tiger, I bought Leopard when it came out, and also bought the Snow Leopard upgrade disc.
When I got the MacBook back today, I thought I'd try a clean install of SL - but it wouldn't install, telling me I needed 10.5 or later in order to install SL. So I then tried installing Leopard, but the disc verification failed multiple times (it only has minor scratches on it!).
I then tried the Leopard install disc that came with my '09 MacBook Pro - but of course it must check the hardware, as it said it could not be installed on the MacBook.
So I then installed Tiger from the original MacBook discs, thinking I could upgrade Tiger to SL (had seen mention of this) - but again, I got the message stating I needed 10.5 or later.
I've seen a YouTube video of someone doing a clean install of SL - but the person had a new Unibody Macbook - and I think the SL must do a hardware check and if it's an older MacBook that wouldn't have originally come with Leopard installed, it doesn't let you do a clean install of SL.
Very frustrating I can't get SL installed on a new HD, even though I do own Leopard!

    hi
actually you should be able to install SL over a Tiger install. i posted here recently with my (positive) experiences and here's an excerpt:
+1. Used the install disks that came with my MBP to put a fresh Tiger on an external FW drive. Updated install to 10.4.11 and installed SL over that. Started to install 3rd party SW one by one – NO ISSUES+
+2. Did a fresh install of SL on an external FW drive and migrated settings, programs, etc. from my MBP – NO ISSUES+
+3. Then I took the plunge and just “upgraded” my 10.5.8 on the internal drive using the SL install disk – NO ISSUES+
+I want to point out that during all 3 installs above I had 2 external FW disks and 1 external FW optical drive (used that for the SL disk) connected to my MBP !+
+Obviously, I took the “usual” precautions (make a bootable clone plus regular TM backup) before I upgraded my internal drive.+
maybe i am lucky that i have 2 external FW drives to juggle with. but if you have one (or get one) this ought to work.

It is not viewable on your old computer.  We may be able to get you a replacement serial number.  Do you still have your proof of purchase for Photoshop Elements 5?

HORRIBLE!  I don't like Forum because of scammers.  I paid almost $3,000.00 for this suite and Adobe seems to have no customer support!  It was a scammer the last time who tried to help! Outrageous! This is NOT RIGHT OF ADOBE after I did everything the right way and they happily took my money!

  • I can not get the new updates because my start disc and hard drive are full, I need 1.98 GB.

I can not get the new updates because my start disc and hard drive are full, I need 1.98 GB.

Some folks recommend OmniDiskSweaper to allow you to review your stuff to find possible candidates to throw away.
Even if you throw away some stuff and your desired "1.98GB", then what?  If that's the number you need for the update, you'll just use most or all of the reclaimed space with the update and you are right back to where you started.
You don't specify what kind of machine you got but presumably it's a mac pro since you posted in the Mac Pro community.  In which case just get yourself another drive or two and move stuff around to free up your boot drive.
[Perhaps you should hurry too since I expect hdd prices might be going up due to possible impending hdd shortages.]
Finally, if some of those updates are major system updates you want extra drives for backups because I always recommend you never do major updates to your system without backups to that system.
