Extigy on Vi

hello , i need some help with Sound Blaster Extigy and Windows Vista on my new notebook. i cant install it on this system from instalation CD, it is saying it will not install on Win 98/ME/NT. on XP on my old computer it is ok. is there any way to install it or simply i have to buy something new such as X-Fi Extreme Audio Notebook?

The message is pretty clear. A file wasn't found. You'll need to provide some more information. Like, what are you trying to do? Read a file? Write a file? With what function do you get this error?

Extigy with Windows 7 64 bit

Hey everyone,
I've got a SB Extigy which has served me just awesome for years and years now. ?I recently upgraded to a better computer with Windows 7 64 bit, and have found that the driver CD which came with the card will no longer install on this OS. ?Windows will recognize it; the rear stereo out and the headphone out are acti've (both at the same time!) however the volume control knob no longer works, the remote doesn't work (I mainly use it just for volume) but most importantly the MIDI ports don't work. ?I use this computer to make music, so I really need to get the MIDI ports operational or get a new card. ?Since this card has been working so beautifully for so long, I don't want to switch unless I absolutely have to. ?I have tried running the CD install in compatibility mode for XP/2000 but no dice. ?I found [url="http://forums.creative.com/t5/Windows-7/Extigy-Drivers-for-Windows-7/m-p/54202" rel="nofollow">another thread[/url] on here where this guy seemed to get it to work, but didn't really leave instructions as to how. ?He gave[url="http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=93720" rel="nofollow"> this link [/url]to download the drivers, but there is no exe in there.... how can I install these drivers without the installerI went to the device manager and tried to do an update driver with the source pointed to these files, but I informs me I currently have the most up to date driver already installed.

I would suggest checking all of your connections and also making sure that the subwoofer itself doesn't have an upmix setting on the back of it. Make sure that it is configured for direct input.

Intel HD Audio vs Sound Blaster Extigy

I am wondering what is a better soundcard.
The built in Intel HD Audio soundcard or the Sound Blaster Extigy USB?
I am outputting to a Logitec Z5400 via the optical output of the extigy and the input of the Z5400.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have to agree but I doubt most people notice. Not a lot a audiophiles anymore. Intel HD specs are typical of a low costs digital to analog converter. You won't find many laptops that spend a lot on sound quality. Although their are a couple PC's that have certified sound with better sound cards. I would think your Macbook like mine has a optical digital connection through the audio jack. If you really want better D/A conversion you could buy a external D/A converter and connect through the optical output. Personally I use a pair of SkullCandy Hesh 2's and find the sound very good. I certainly have heard worse. At least S/N ratio is pretty good. Some laptops I have had in the past really had some nasty background hiss.

Hello all. First, I'm glad to have the opportunity to be a part of this group. I didn't know it even existed, but here I am...so, let me know what you think.
I am a new Windows Vista Ultimate OS owner, and thus far, I'm absolutely thrilled with the advances in video render and compression speeds. However, one of the auto-update features tried to update my Extigy driver, the one that apparently loaded with the original install of Windows Vista, and the update didn't work...go figure. So, now there is no way to use the system restore as it doesn't recognize that there was a change, and I can't get the Extigy to make a peep.
How do I go bakc to the Windows Vista generic driver so I can listem to my voice overs agan?Thanks so much folks... Michael

Go to the device manager, and select the extigy, then properties, then in the driver tab, the 3rd button down

Extigy Line In Problem:Constant Noise Heard When Cable Plugged I

I have a laptop with a Realtek Audio Card In It. I Disabled the device and I installed Exitgy.When I plug in
the line in cable(connetcted to my Korg keyboard) a noise is constantly being heard. I can record from the
keyboard but the noise is always there. The strange thing is that the noise seems to change increase and
decrease whenever I move the pointer around open a window run a program or whenever there is any
"activity" on my pc!! I had on older laptop with a SiS sound card in it. I disabled the device in that one and
installed Extigy and there was no problem with the line in!! So what's happened now?What's wrong?

I don't have a USB mouse connected. There are three USB inputs on my laptop one is used for my USB modem the other one for my Extigy and the other one is free
So I still havent resolved the noise problem and I cannot record!!!:angry:
on my older pc I hade my USB modem connected and my Extigy and had no problems so it cannot be the other USB devices messing with Extigy, plus the noise occurs only when I plug my mini jack in the line in of my Extigy and the other end is connected to my KORG.
So whats going on?

I currently have an Audigy() But would really like to have the space back in my case that the break-out box takes up. Im also running the 5. speakers from creative. Sounds really nice and lush with XP. Not as good with Vista though.
Anyway I have an old Extigy around somewhere from when they first came out(was there only one?) I remember it was quite buggy back then and didnt use it very long but that was also on 98.
So would it be a real step backwards to use the Extigy from the Audigy that Im pretty happy with.
The other option is to just make the break-out box external. Which isnt totally out of the question I suppose.

If you're going to just listen to music and watch movies, then the Extigy would be fine. If you're going to play games, the Extigy's performance is poor due to the limitations of bandwidth on the USB line.

Extigy computer will not recognise when usb is connected

When the soundblaster is connected to?my computer with a usb the computer does not seem to acknowledge the extigy is there(nothing comes up on my computer section-XP)
The sound blaster disc has installed ok,and the remote picture pops up on screen each time the computer isswitched on.

I hate to be a "me too'er", but... Me too! I took it back to apple a week after I got this brand new iMac and couldn't believe that it wouldn't boot up. We reinstalled Leopard, did a hardware check, and talked about everything imaginable that could be wrong. Why would the "grey screen of death" keep killing my boot up? It dawned on me that every time it happened my connected iPod would light up and show the "do not disconnect" screen-- the only sign of life coming from my computer. As I had that realization, I disconnected my iPod and immediately the apple came on and the boot up went lightning fast... I think this should be driving a lot of people crazy--- shouldn't it? The genius at apple didn't say anything about it, and I know he's been around a long time. kind of disturbing that this isn't a totally well known issue.

Extigy Master Knob won't function?

Hello everyone,
I recently bought the Extigy from a friend. It was just the model, power supply, and usb cable (no driver cd). I hooked it up the day I got it, everything was greant, and the master volume knob could control the volume bar in Win XP. Now, for some reason, it won't respond at all. Does anyone know a solution to this type of problem?
P.S. When my friend turned his master knob, a green bar would show up on his desktop to tell him where his volume level was. I don't have that. Could these 2 things be connected?

Unfortunately Adobe technical support wern't the most helpful people in the world. They asked me to send numerous emails to them but none of them got through (a problem at their end I suspect) so support was very limited. They said they would call back but never did...
The College have decided to purchase it but they will be getting it through their reseller company RM (Research Machines). They package the software up and ensure it's working before they hand it out.
Sorry I can't help anybody but Adobe support don't seem too bothered about helping out...

Creative Soundblaster Extigy External & Logitech Z-5

I have the above sound card and speaker system and I'm wondering if using an optical cable that goes from the extigy to the speaker system is a good way to hook the two up. I have no idea if optical cables are all the same and want to know if I can purchase any optical cable that will work. Any advice will greatly help me. ThanksDennis

USB Sound Card (Sound Blaster Extigy) has stopped working with 10.5.7

I installed 10.5.7 this morning and after reboot it was stuck on the blue screen for an extremely long time. Subsequent reboots were the same, slow on the grey screen, slow on the blue screen. Total boot time was over 10 minutes.
I tried resetting PRAM, booted into safe mode, re-installed 10.5.7 from the combo update and still had the same problem.
I then looked at system.log for any hints at what was going wrong, there were entries like:

This is compared to 10.5.6 where there were no references to the Extigy in system.log.
There are other messages referring to IOKit:
May 14 16:56:41 tarsus kextd[10]: IOKitWaitQuiet() timed out waiting to write kernel symbols
May 14 16:57:01 tarsus configd[14]: InterfaceNamer: timed out waiting for IOKit to quiesce
May 14 17:01:10 tarsus /usr/libexec/hidd[38]: Timeout waiting for IOKit to be quiet
Which again, were not present with 10.5.6.
So of course when I unplug the Sound Blaster Extigy it works fine, boots nice and fast and there are no issues.
I would really like to still be able to use my Sound Blaster Extigy. Is there any way I can fix this now myself, or a chance of it being fixed in an update?

OK, for the Extigy issue ... it seems I have found a workaround.
Go to /System/Library/Extensions. There is a kernel extension for USB Audio, named AppleUSBAudio.kext.
10.5.6 contains version 2.6.0b11 of that module.
The 10.5.7. upgrade installs a new version, 2.6.4b11. Using a time machine backup
from earlier today, I simply reinstalled the old module.
Now booting is again very fast and the Extigy is recognized once again.
Conclusion: There must be a bug in the new version which affects the Extigy.

How do I get signal from Digital Optical input (Extigy) to the Creative PlayCent

How can I rip MP3's from the Digital Optical input on the Extigy? The PlayCenter does not seem to have any interest in the Extigy/USB as an input source. Thank you for your help!!?

Since you are talking about variables, I suppose that you are using CP4, right?
There is a fine tutorial in de CP4-help, chapter 'Variables and advanced actions', 'Tutorial on scripting' which explains more elaborately what I will try here:
Create a user variable, p.e. named 'vName' (Project, Actions, sheet Variables)
Ask the user to enter his name in a Text Entry Box; in the properties of this TEB, sheet Advanced you indicate that this name should be put in your variable 'vName'
Wherever you want to show this name, create a Text Caption and insert your variable by the button 'Insert variable'; this button is present in the properties window and also in the formatting toolbar if you are editing in place (look for X and and arrow); the variable in the text caption will show as '$$vName$$' and in the published SWF you will see the username.

Extigy vs. Audigy 2 ZS Platinum

I currently own an Extigy and love the flexibility of an external sound card. However, the product has been downright painful to own. Every time the power flickers or anyone sneezes I have to uninstall and reinstall the drivers for it. Which requires 2-3 reboots. Now if I'm in the middle of something during bad weather, I usually have to spend more time rebooting to get the card to work again than actually using it.
Most recently I've formatted my hard-dri've and have since been having problems with the drivers. When I install them and reboot the computer becomes unresponsi've and I am forced to reboot in safe mode and use a restore point prior to the installation in order to regain the use of my (soundless) computer.
Also, for whatever reason, USB bandwidth is in short supply with my machine since I have a number of USB devices installed. Sometimes if they're all acti've at the same time I'll get a 'USB bandwidth exceeded' msg and my Extigy stops working (have to uninstall/reinstall drivers to get it back).
I have recently started wondering if there was another option that would give me the stability I'm looking for as well as the flexibility that I love about the external dri've. I have come across the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro. At a glance it looks to be perfect. It has an internal card which gives the impression of greater stability. It has an external 'command center' that does not appear to be connected with USB. It has all the features as the Extigy. Upon further research however it seems like it is a product that is either loved or hated.
If I were to purchase the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro, would I be running into the same poor connectivity, drivers, and general problems that have been plaguing me with the Extigy?
Any comments would be appreciated.

My main concern is will I have the same problems with having to reinstall everything every time the power flickers? The USB bandwidth stuff is annoying but I can li've with it. I'm more or less looking for an upgrade that won't be quite as touchy as the extigy.
and just to confirm... There is no USB involved in the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro? (How does the external hub piece connect to the computer?)

My Extigy won't work properly with Wi

I have upgraded my PC to WinXP. I have a Creative Extigy with 5. speakers, and on my old PC it all?worked perfectly. With the new computer?the 5. rear?right and left speakers won't work. The others work just fine !?There seems to be no signal coming from the Extigy when I play from Musicmatch Juke box. But if I play something throught MixMeister3 it works just fine.
