Extinction of MobileMe Galleries...any way to NOT move them to Aperture?
As with many (former) mobileMe users, I've received the usual automated warnings about the end of mobileMe services and already prepared for the transition by making alternative arrangements for sharing pictures.
My master images, as well as the specific group selections of pictures used for my former mobileMe galleries are alive and well in at least one if not several places (multiple backups), and so I have neither the need nor the desire nor the room on my hard drive to waste on downloading my mobileMe galleries back to any of my machines.
Is there any way to STOP Aperture from doing this? I'd like my application back, ThankYouVeryMuch. I can brute force things by turning off AirPort, but that's ridiculous. Whatever happened to letting users, you know, remain in charge of their applications and files?!?
In both iPhoto and Aperture I went into preferences and deleted my MM accounts then emptied the trash of the versions. Haven't had the pop up notifications since.

I've run out of space on my 4 TB drive, so I copied everything to a 6TB drive. But the virtual Lightroom files, where I do most of my editing, didn't appear on the new drive. Is there any way I can get them to show up, along with my edits, on the new drive?
Photoshop LightroomVirtual copies are just that, virtual and not real copies. You won't find them in Finder because they are no more than additional notations in the catalog database file recording a set of alternative edits. As long as the catalog is correctly pointed to the new home of the images the VCs will be there also.

I had files stored on a hard drive that were not on my Mac. I used the hard drive for my first Time Machine back up, but it was not enough hard drive space to finish. Now those stored files are gone. Is there any way I can recover them? No, they were not part of previous Time Machine backups, and I have checked both the hard drive the documents were lost on and the new one that I now use for backups. Any suggestions would be helpful, as the lost files are old pictures that are gone forever. :[ Thanks!
1. Yes, if both drives are formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
2. Reformat the drives if needed, open the Time Machine pane of System Preferences, and remove the drive with the pictures from the list of items set to be excluded.

I was syncing everything to itunes and I tried to do my contacts, not knowing quite how. I ended up erasing all of them from my phone without any of them syncing to my computer or itunes. Is there any way I can get them back? I really need them all.
There are lots of ideas floating on the web for this particular issue - all of which I tried. I had the same problem and it turned out to be my USB cable. I thought the cable was fine as it would charge my phone and play but the data transfer pin was bent. I replaced the cable and it fixed the problem. Worth a shot as it is an easy fix!

Any way around not using Desktop mamager?
Hi guys is there any way around not using the desktop manager?, I find it way too bloated for my slow computer, all I wanna do is transfer some mp3's to my phone.
Thanks.Hello,
Yup -- if you've installed the Desktop Software and enabled Mass Storage Mode, then your BB should appear as another drive letter in Windows...and you can treat it just like any other USB drive.

My daughter did factory reset on 4 s and lost her notes. Important stuff in notes. Is there any way she can get them back?
Did she do a backup first? Did she have iCloud backup turned on?

Is there any way to not use the plugin container for firefox?
Is there any way to not use the plugin container for firefox? Ever since I updated, my firefox browser has been crashing almost every day and it always says that the plugin container crashed, but the rest of firefox freezes up as well, so I am forced to end the process itself.
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Plugin-container_and_out-of-process_plugins
You can set the prefs dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.* to false on the about:config page to disable the plugin-container process.
dom.ipc.plugins.enabled (currently false by default in Firefox 3.6.6)
dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npswf32.dll (Flash)
dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npctrl.dll (Silverlight)
dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npqtplugin.dll (QuickTime) -
I have moved all of my movies from "Search for - All Movies" folder thinking they were shortcuts to the trash folder by mistake. Is there any way I can restore them to the right place on my system Note most are on an external hard drive.
You can drag them out of the trash folder to wherever you wish. There is no automatic way to restore them.
If you have a recent backup of your computer (at the risk of preaching, everyone should have one), restore them from there.
Barry
P.S. I have no clue what you did or why you have 44,000 on the external drive -
Any way to not have the albums sh
Is there any way to not have the albums show up when selecting AND playing a song?
Thanks.Just thought i'd mention that you can do this much more easily by using a program like mp3Tag (free) where you can batch rename file tags. In other words, you can select all your files and change all the albums to blank or whatever you want in one process. take care

Any way to not get leading zeros in dates?
When displaying a date or time, I'm always getting leading zeros. Is there a simple way to not have them?
For example:
SELECT TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'HH:MI PM') FROM dual;
Will show 02:07 PM. I'd like it just to be 2:07 PM
The flip side, that I don't want to see would be not having the zeros in minutes... I don't want 2:7 PM.I don't know if there's a better way...
SELECT decode(substr(TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'HH:MI PM'), 1,1), '0' ,substr(TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'HH:MI PM'), 2) , TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'HH:MI PM')) FROM dual;
thanks,

I just looked read iOS: How to back up your data and set up as a new device. I've been having a few bugs, but do not want to lose my old text messages. Will setting up as a new device and then syncing erase old text messages? If so, is there any way to avoid losing them?
You will not lose text message, if you back up your phone correctly and then restore from that backup. If your going to restore your phone as new and not from backup, then your text will not be there until you decide to restore from that backup.
If you don't want to lose the message, take a look in the app store to see if you can transfer to your computer.
