Extra 5 seconds at end of MP3

Ok so I am trying to cut a specific part out of a song. I have the song in itunes, I drag it into garage band and cut it how I like it. I then use the "export to itunes" button. But then when I get it itunes there is an extra 5 seconds at the end of the song that I didnt put there. Can someone please help me. I am new to garageband so I dont really know what i'm doing. I appreciate any help that can be given. Thanks

Adjusting the cycle ribbon doesn't have any effect for me, either.
If I make the cycle only one second or make it 20 seconds, I still get a 9-second long iPod export, when my test file is 6 seconds. I can make a longer exported file by recording more tracks, but I can't make it shorter. The exported file contains all the 'activity' on every track, and adds 3 seconds on the end.
I noticed that when it exports, the cycle bar disappears (kind of collapses into the top of the window) during the message "Creating mixdown..." and then reappears when it's done. It's like it ignores the cycle bar settings when exporting, so much so that it even hides it...

  • FCP6 adds 20 extra seconds when exporting to .FLV

When I export a FCP6 project to .flv (File> Export> Using quicktime conversion and Format: Flash Video (FLV))it automatical adds 20 extra seconds to the end, showing the last frame, before the movie stops.
    How can I avoid this?

    Hi Ken,
IMHO the FLV component is cr*p. Look at the version number. It says something with X... which usually is the moniker for development versions. Come on (M)A(cro)dobe.
    Btw. is it Flash CS3?
    So, try the following:
Export your timeline as a self-contained QuickTime-Movie (File > Export > QuickTime Movie, then Checkbox: Make Movie self-contained).
Then use the standalone Flash video encoder application (in /Applications folder).
If that doesn't work either, you could also try 3rd party apps:
    VisualHub - http://www.techspansion.com/visualhub/
    Flix Encoder Standard - http://www.on2.com/products/flix/flix-standard/
The latter supports Flash 8 (better quality VP6 codec). Both are reasonably priced ($23, $39) and have demo versions available.
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards, Oliver

Thank you all for your replies. I have MP3 Trimmer, but I am not looking forward to hand trimming thousands of mp3 files. I was hoping to find something similar to IVolume, that could automatically analyze and trim a group of files.
I have multiple computers running ITunes with an Applescript that controls the timing; inserting station ids, announcements etc. I'd like to be able to program my automation with tight cuts and crossfades where I want them. The wide variety of silent periods at the beginning and end of the mp3s makes this impossible.
A utility that could strip out the silence automatically would make me quite happy.

  • Extra Second Tonight

If someone gave you a second in time, what would you do with it?
Today / tonight we gain a leap second
Midnight will come later tonight as for the first time in three years an extra second is added to the official time set by atomic clocks.
The "leap second" means the last minute of June will have 61 seconds in it.
Leap seconds - and leap years - are added as basic ways to keep the clock in sync with the Earth and its seasons
However, there are concerns the extra second could cause problems for some computer systems because it has to be added manually
Timekeepers are divided over whether to keep the additional unit of time - and the issue is set to be debated at a meeting later this year.
    Unpredictable rotation
The addition will mean that the last minute of June will have 61 seconds; while 23:59:59 usually becomes 00:00:00, the leap second will ensure the time becomes 23:59:60.
Peter Whibberley, senior research scientist at the UK's National Physical Laboratory (NPL), said: "Because they depend on measurements of the Earth's rotation, which varies unpredictably, leap seconds occur at irregular intervals."
News coverage has focused on the potential for software problems that could affect financial trading and other operations around the world. Mr Whibberley, who works in the time and frequency group at NPL, stressed the need for planning.
"Leap seconds are announced only six months in advance. This means computers and software cannot be supplied with leap seconds programmed in, and they must be inserted manually," he explained.
"Getting leap seconds wrong can cause loss of synchronisation in communication networks, financial systems and many other applications which rely on precise timing.
"Whenever a leap second occurs, some computer systems encounter problems due to glitches in the code written to handle them. The consequences are particularly severe in the Asia-Pacific region, where leap seconds occur during normal working hours."
Because the irregularity of adding leap seconds causes problems for computer networks, several proposals have been put forward to abolish them.
The issue is still being considered by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and is set to be discussed at the World Radiocommunication Conference in Geneva in November this year.
Delegates will aim to reach a decision to either end leap seconds or adopt a technical solution to reduce the problems they cause.

  • Print at Bottom of Page option causing extra page at end of report

I'm using the option 'Print at Bottom of Page" in Section Expert for some invoices I'm creating.  For some reason it's causing me to have an extra page at the end of the report.  If I unselect this option, the extra page goes away.  I need to be able to have this group footer print at the bottom at the page but not have the extra at the end of the report.  This is the first time I've used this option so maybe I've missed something.  All other sections after the group footer I want printed are suppressed.  Any ideas?

I guess I didn't have the report footer suppress, I just had it minimized in size.  I suppressed it and it seems to be fine.

  • What does "LSX-00204: extra data at end of complex element" mean?

When trying to validate an XML instance against a schema definition, we consistenly get:
    ORA-31154: invalid XML document
ORA-19202: Error occurred in XML processing
LSX-00204: extra data at end of complex element.
Can somebody explain to me, when one would receive such an error, using a small example?
We are pretty sure our document conforms to the XSD. The XSD is very large (11000 lines). I need some clue as to what to look for.

Most of the time when this error is encountered in a document that 3rd party validators such as XMLSPY claim is valid it is probably a bug in the Oracle XML Schema Validator.
Which database release are you using.. There are a number of bugs that have been fixed in the latest release of the database that can cause this error to be reported.
The only one that I know of that still appears to open in 10.2.0.2.0 is related to an XML Schema (XBRL) that makes use of xlink. This is bug 4872943.
Can you post your XML Schema (s) and instance document here ?. If not can you open tar with Oracle Support and upload your XML Schemas and instance via metalink and then post the tar number here
If it turns out that you have hit this bug, or some other bug, you will need to open at tar with support and request a fix for this issue.

  • 20 seconds from end of song, sometimes a "click"

I am hearing a single "click" which happens apparently at random, about 0% of the time, when I play a song. The click always happens precisely 20 seconds from the end of a song, if it happens at all. It can happen with any song from the MP3s on my hard dri've. I never had this problem until I installed Vista. It can play a song fine on one pass, then click the next time I play it. Or not. It's random, for all I can determine. It's also driving me nuts.
I have X-Fi Platinum on Vista 32 bit. Newest driver from Creative is installed: (SBXF_PCDVT_LB_2_5_0004)
Please save me from the annoying click... I'm totally stuck for what to do.
    Lisa

You're using Windows Media Player, I presume?
That's a result of the Visualization. If you change it to no visualization the click will magically disappear.
A way to get both visualizations and no click is to install the latest version of Winamp. To get good sound on it, copy the dsound.dll from the Creative Alchemy folder to the Winamp program folder. In Winamp options, output plugins, direct sound output plugin, check to enable hardware acceleration and on the other tab there check to enable cpu frequency scaling.
Run the Winamp visualizations and there's no click.
I just got used to the click as I kind of like the visualizations in Windows Media Player. I alternate between that and Winamp for my mp3 listening.
Oh, I forgot. Run Winamp as an administrator all the time until they come out with an updated version that can get along with UAC. It's got to write to the Programs folder and the registry to save its settings and things. I just right clicked the winamp shortcut and on the compatiblility tab for both all users and the current user clicked run as administrator. I did the same thing to the winampa.exe in the Winamp program folder. You'll just get a UAC prompt whenever you open Winamp. Not a big deal until they design a hook into UAC so it'll ask permission for that stuff.

  • Extra space in end of line constant

    Hello All,
Does anyone have an explanation why when using an end of line constant and a format into string there is an "apparent" extra space included?
The attached VI (LV 8.5) shows the behaviour. There should not be a space after the "e", but there appears to be. If you view the string in hex form there is clearly not an extra space character. What is going on here, am I misinterpreting how this is supposed to work?

    Hi nrp,
    Man I was trigger happy.
I see what you mean, if you step through the 'normal' string you will notice their's a position after the 'e' before going to the next lin.
This was my original reply (humble, humble)
I don't really get what you mean but I think you need to remember the 'hex' view is a formatted view, with an additional space after every second character!
The function returns this for me:
Which is totally acceptable for me. I see 5 characters ('o','n','e','CR','LF')

  • Video to .flv yields extra black at end

We are rendering out a .flv file and no matter how or where we play it, there is an extra 8-10 seconds of black at the end. When we have rendered out some other videos the black is there also, but then there is some random audio that is from one of the other videos. We haven't run into this problem before and the only difference is that we were asked to compress these videos as much as possible. Any thoughts?

I am having a similar issue. Sequence is 588w x 486h Animation+ codec, talent chroma-key (Conduit) on track 2 with no background on track 1. Flash 8 is installed. When I export using the QuickTime Flash export component using On2 VP6 with Alpha Channel settings, the resulting FLV has additional frames up to around 20 seconds for a 2 minute sequence. I tried several different sequence codecs/Spark codec with same result. Even setting an In and Out on the sequence does not help.
One symptom I have noticed, is that when I click in the timeline beyond the last frame of video, I still see the last frame of video in the Canvas (But not in the BlackMagic video card output). Normally I would see black or checkerboard.
Anybody heard of any conflicts with the Flash Export component dircect from the timeline or via a batch export.
Exporting an Item Settings QuickTime (Animation+) files and then using Flash Encoder does work, but I am trying to avoid the extra steps. (250 sequences to export)
I suspect I have an issue with the export component, but I wanted to see if anybody else has experiences this before I reinstall FCP and Flash software.

  • ITunes takes a few seconds to start playing MP3 files

I just started using this new MacBook Pro and transfered my music library to the new laptop. I'm having a problem with iTunes playing MP3 files: when I double click on a MP3 track iTunes seems to freeze for like 3 - 4 seconds before the track starts playing and then it plays normally without a hitch. This is happening with each and every MP3 track that I have in the library as well as new MP3 tracks that I'm adding. Th short delay/freeze also occurs when I try to view or alter the info of an MP3 track in the library, so that when I right click on a track and click Get Info, the 'Get Info' screen will take about 3 - 4 seconds to show up and the same freeze happens when I click OK to close the 'Get Info' screen.
Note that this happens only with MP3 tracks. Tracks purchased from the iTunes store (AAC) do not have this problem and start playing without any delay/freeze.
Another weird tidbit: When MP3 tracks are in the same playlist (or album) and I let them play one after another (without me skipping to the next/previous song) then the delay/freeze does not occur at all. This delay seems to just happen when I start playing a song or when I click the fast forward/Rewind buttons to skip to the next/previous track.
Does anyone know what might be causing this? And if a fix is available somewhere? Thanks in advance!

It only happens on mp3s not on AAC's to me too! Just so you all know. I thought an EXTERNAL DRIVE was my problem but after hours of research I found it's probably an intentional bug (just kidding Apple you don't hate other companies that much....geesh! ) It might not be this...but you never know.
I thought maybe it was the TAG but it seems this has nothing to do with it. Point is either Apple left a bug on the last update of itunes MP3s because to them it's less of a priority or it's being messed up by Amazon folders (still looking in to), or maybe there was a problem with the install.
So far my options are to get an MP3 to AAC convertor and dump my 3000 songs into a program for converting, wait for an update, reinstall, or keep looking for a missed solution.
    Any help would be appreciated!!

  • ITunes is adding random music to the end of mp3s

Hi there... any help would be greatly appreciated...
recently I have noticed some very strange behaviour from iTunes....
on some tracks (randomly, some ripped from CD, some bought from Napster a while back, some 320kbps, some 256kbps), iTunes replaces the last few seconds of a song with a random few seconds of a random track from my library.
I had this happen with a CD... so I reripped it and it was fine. But it just happened with tracks I bought from Napster. I had to edit the ends of the tracks to avoid the gap that Napster annoying always put in there, so I know that the end of each track was good, present and correct. Now I import the track into iTunes, and the end is a few seconds of a Bob Dylan song!
And now the actual file has been affected... when I listen to the track in Finder, it has the same random Bob Dylan at the end!
Please, this is driving me crazy... if anyone can help - I'd love it... and if anyone could convince the folks at Apple to stop screwing with a program when it's stable, that would also be great too! :-)
(Never used to have this problem with iTunes)
    Many thanks.

It seems to be.  Here are the import settings:
I've also unchecked the "Rename Files" box - the outcome is the same.

Found this script on this forum, which I added to my submit button.
    var emptyFields = [];

         if (f.type!="button" && f.required ) {

Great script but the ERROR! popup was not coming up until I went into InDesign and removed extra spaces after "(g)" Description and Names.
I am new at this, can someone let me know of any rules for naming these fields such as using underscores, or any other illegal chacters.

  • Extra characters at end of line in spool file

I am trying to generate csv files from SQL Developer using queries written to spool files.  I have embedded the queries and associated set commands in script files and call them, as advised elsewhere.  This gives csv files that look fine, with headings and data comma separated and enclosed with double quotes.  The problem is that the files seem to contain a lot of extra characters at the end of each line.  They seem to be spaces, but not sure.  This is causing problems for the person trying to load the data.
I'm using version SQL Developer 3.1.07.42, Java 1.6.0_11.
Any ideas on how to avoid the extra spaces appearing?  Thanks for any help.

  • Smartforms - extra page at end

i have seen various threads on this, but somehow i cannot make mine work, based on them. it appears that a COMMAND node may work, however, not for me.
i have a first page (FIRST), and a second page(NEXT), both containing the main window. the "FIRST" page's "next page" is "NEXT", and the "NEXT" page's "next page" is "NEXT". now i want to print my new page "DG", on the end of the "NEXT" page, depending on some condition.
lets forget the condition for now, just simply get the "DG" page to come out all the time.
    thanks in anticipation

Is it a script being called by standard program.
for eg in case of chk printing script the driver program RFFOUS_C has parameters in selection screen which could be checkmarked and hence second page or so could b eincluded or excluded.
