Extra home page opens when I click on links in websites or emails. How can I stop this?
With Firefox running or not running, whenever I click on a link on a web page or in an email, two Firefox pages open: the page in the link, and my home page. How can I stop the extra home page from opening?
closed firefox, then did yum reinstall firefox

This happens when someone drags the HD or a system folder icon to the iPhoto Window by accident. Solution: restore from back up created before this occurred.

This post has already been answered. Why are you plugging your own site with an answer that has already been given? Not to mention that the information you are handing out is incorrect. There is no bug, there is no patch, and no one needs to delete any email addresses. If you take the time to read the posts with the correct answers, you will see that the solution is totally different than the erroneous one you have posted.

When i open a new tab, it closes 3 seconds later automatically. how can I stop this?
When I open a new tab, I cannot view it, the tab closes automatically. I then reload the tab and it closes again after 3 seconds. How can I stop this? I never had this problem before.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit") -

One potential cause of this is an unwanted extension. Try disabling ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
If you are adventurous about installing software from various websites, you may have loaded a bundle that contains some, well, crap. To review recent additions, go to your Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program, and click the "Installed on" column heading to bring the most recent items to the top. Remove anything unexpected or unwanted.

This only occurs when I first open Firefox. Using tabs once I am down to one window does not open a new window.

Hello there,
At work I use a Mac Pro (like this one: http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/mac_pro/specs/mac-pro-quad-core-2.8-2008-s pecs.html)... and I have a very weird problem that is really annoying.
I don't have the information (but I can get it tomorrow) on the operating system or any information of the server I am having the issues with. But I was hoping maybe some one else with the same issue might have the answer without all of that information.
We use the server to access, open, edit, save, delete, move, etc... all of the files we are currently working on. No files are ever transfered to our local computer's hardrive and then copied back to the server (don't ask me why, and don't tell me to do that, this is how it's done in the office, and this is what I have to do)...
The issue is this. When I have to delete a folder from the server, which is usually a folder within a folder, and maybe within another folder, and another, and another (meaning it takes me time to look for this), the Finder deltes the folder (and asks if I am sure I want to delete it, because it will be deleted forever since I am deleting it from the server)... and when I say yes, the Finder window that I am currently on (the folder which contains the folder that I am deleting) reverts back to the initial "device-folder" for my local mac pro... meaning the folder which is the main folder of that mac pro, where I can see the mac pro's hard drive, any external hardrives, any usb pen drives, any cds, etc...
So EVERY TIME I delete a folder on the server, which is more than 30 times a day, I get "kicked out" of the foler which contains the folder to be deleted, and gows back to tha "main" folder of my computer, so I have to go back to the server, back to the folder, and sometimes it is a folder, within a folder, within a folder, etc, etc, etc, ... and don't tell me the solution is to create a shortcut on my sidebar for that folder, because the folders are the jobs that I may be working on that day, so I could work on as many as 30 different folders per day, and I do have those in my sidebar, but it is still pretty annoying to have to go back to that folder.
One thing I noticed... SOMETIMES, not all the times... IF I delete two folders instead of one, it won't do it... or IF I drag the folder to the trash, instead of clicking on my "delete" icon on my finder's toolbar, it won't do it... but this is only SOMETIMES. So these are not the solutions either.
I can try to get a screen cap tomorrow of the issue, but if anyone has this same issue and knows how to fix it, plese let me know.
I will also try to get more info on my computers OS and the server.

MWHi PCM1, if i understand well the problem you have is when you click on a URL in a pdf file, the link opens in IE ? Have you checked in the default programs panel to see if all was well set ?

When I make a pattern swatch, it moves. How can I stop this?
I understand that pattern swatches sit relevant to where they are made on the artboard. So I thought I could create one over the spot I want to fill with it (and avoid making lots of clipping masks). However, when I create the swatch, the pattern moves, and I can't seem to get it to align.
Have tried using the ~ key as suggested elsewhere (although on my PC this is on the # key so probably doesn't have the same effect?).

Each time I do it, it moves to another location. Doesn't seem to be any logic to it.
Would appreciate anyones wise input!Whenever I apply the clipping mask, the shape contains no fill. Perhaps that is because it is a set of copy and a logo repeated in a line (this is a design for a lanyard). It's not that I am afraid to use it, I have tried and it doesn't work.
So if the pattern is relevant to the 0,0 position on the co-ordinate grid, how do you work that out? When you make it, the co-ordinates are relevant to the artboard, not the grid. Maybe I'm just missing something obvious.

another reason might be that Mozilla and Google use colors that make

When I open safari i get 2 desktops, one with the last page i visited and the other desktop has another start up page. when i shut down one it automatically shuts down the other. This only just started happening. Any idea of how to fix it?
Which Mac OS X is installed? If you aren't sure, click the Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac. The OS X version is noted there.
And which version of Safari. From the Safari menu bar click Safar > About Safari -

My desktop pages keep collapsing into my doc. How can I stop this?
I have an iMac 500 with the Lion 10.6 OS. When I try to move a page I'm working on to a different part of the desktop my mouse doesn't pick it up and move it. Instead it collapses the page into my dock at the bottom of the screen. How can I stop this collapsing feature?
Chris, thank you for your response. It is appreciated. What you mentioned was my original problem with the SIM (the fact that it did not mesh well with Apple). After plenty of frustration and money wasted, a technician advised me to de-activate iMessage and FaceTime because I was getting charged 0.30 euro for every call and every text. I followed this suggestion and after testing it out, then the phone seemed to be working fine without the extra charge problems.
This morning when I woke up, I checked my credits on the phone and I had lost another 1.20 euro during the night. When I called PosteMobile, they told me that I had sent another 4 messages to that same UK number. I'm not sure how this is possible, and when I try to explain my situation to them, they are not the friendliest people. I've used WIND before in Italy as a provider without any problems, and they are not listed on the link that you sent me for Italy, so I don't understand why PosteMobile is giving me so many problems.
I was also wondering if there is a way to block my phone from sending messages to this number? (Although, I don't even know the last 3 digits of the number). Sorry if I'm rambling, but I don't know how to resolve this problem without starting a new contract with another service provider. -

Every time I click on a web page an advertisement or MAC Keeper page opens up. I have pop-up blocker on. How do I make this stop?
There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed the "VSearch" trojan. Remove it as follows.
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. These instructions are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Step 1
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot," "Trovi," or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
Reset the home page and default search engine in all the browsers, if it was changed.
Step 2
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "com.vsearch.agent.plist" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist

Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:

Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
The problem may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the Internet criminal behind VSearch has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return. -
