• Cannot receive mail from .Mac account on port 143

I use my laptop at work. I used to have a 12" Powerbook G4 running OS X 10.4.3. I had no problem receiving mail from my .Mac account. Now, and all of a sudden, I can no longer receive my .Mac mail using the Mail app. The error I get is:
The server "mail.mac.com" refused to allow a connection on port 143.
I called AppleCare about this issue last night and they told me to perform the following steps:
1. Choose .Mac in System Preferences and delete my username and password from the Account tab.
2. Move com.apple.mail.plist and the Mail folder from my ~/Library folder to the desktop.
3. Restart the Mail app and re-import the Mail folder from the desktop. I was told not to directly copy the Mail folder from the desktop into the ~/Library folder.
4. Go back into .Mac in System Preferences and re-enter my account information.
According to AppleCare, things should now work. But there's a little problem with this "solution." I spoke with my network admin and he told me that incoming traffic on port 143 is blocked. That being the case, I fail to see how any of the above steps will solve my problem. It seems nothing more than an issue of trying to get my network admin to open port 143 and he seems reluctant to do that.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Richard

I've solved this problem. Well, actually, I didn't do anything other than:
1) Rebooting my computer, then...
2) Following the instructions at the top of the following thread to re-create my email accounts (I had two):
http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=1598309#1598309
Not sure what this fixed, and how I got into this issue in the first place.
I had four or five days worth of email to come in... it took...
...a...
...long...
...time...
But its looking like its working.
A few things I tried, and although they didn't have an immediate effect to fix the connection refused problem, they might have kicked something to start something working again:
1) Created a new 'test' user on the system, restarted, logged in as that user, and started Mail.app setting it up with .Mac settings (it was after this everything worked)
2) Changed SSL ports in the accounts settings (no difference)
3) Turned firewall on and off (no difference)
4) Attempted to use Thunderbird to read .Mac email as IMAP mailbox (didn't work)
Hope this rather obvious help helps anyone else

How do I set up my 3G to send/receive mail from MS exchange?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
If you can't get your mail to work on Snow Leopard after June 30, you might want to try one of these approaches
1. Configuring Mail in Snow Leopard
2. Delete your mail account from Mail preferences and set it up again using the Mail Server Information.
Some users have apparently encountered issues using this information in pre-Lion set ups (I haven't), Roger Wilmut has kindly provided instructions for those who find themselves with this problem.

• Can send but not receive mail in outlook 2013

I just started to have the same issue. I have multiple PC's all running outlook 2013 and one of them just stopped receiving mail.
The others work fine, and yeah I check that it is set to receive mail in the options, along with many other typical tasks like dissabling the av.
This is on WIN 7 pro.
I have uninstalled office. Deleted my ost and pst. Reinstalled office and re-created my mail account. Same issue. There must be some other setting in my profile or registry that is persisting
I am about to go back to Office 2010, I have already gone back to Win 7 after a terrible experience with 8.1 and its media centre licence issue and lack of driver support (which worked under WIN 8!!).
Seriously Microsoft! Do you just hate people?

Hi,
What is the account type? Exchange, IMAP or POP3? Is it working fine to receive emails on Webmail(OWA)? It is preferred if you could provide any error code/message.
The first thing that should be checked up is if the account has been setup properly, you may need to contact your ISP(Internet Service Provider) to get the information you need to setup the account.
If you press Send/Receive All Folders button, can you get new messages? Please go to
SEND/RECEIVE tab -> Send/Receive Groups ->
Define Send/Receive Groups -> For All Accounts, under
Setting for group "All Accounts", set Schedule an automatic send/receive every "X" minutes, we can set
X as you need.
Please create a new profile to test if the issue persists:

• Configuring Receiver mail adapter with dynamic email addresses

Hi,
I'm a newbie to XI and I have problems in configuring the Receiver mail adapter with the "Use Mail package" option selected. I am trying pickup a file (using file adapter on Sender side, picks up a simple XML file) and after mapping in XI, send the message as an email message to dynamic email addresses.
Everything works fine if I did not select the "Use Mail Package". But when I choose that option it errors out. I followed this blog posted on SDN -
/people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/03/07/mail-adapter-xi--how-to-implement-dynamic-mail-address
The following XML message is my source
<ns0:Messages xmlns:ns0="http://sap.com/xi/XI/Somenamespace">
<ns0:Message1>
<ns1:studentlisttest xmlns:ns1="urn:karthiksender_to_karthikreceiver">
<Student>
<studentid>1</studentid>
<lastname>Studentlastname</lastname>
<firstname>Studentfirstname</firstname>
</Student>
<Mail>
<From>[email protected]</From>
<To>[email protected]</To>
<Subject>Test mail adapter</Subject>
</Mail>
</ns1:studentlisttest>
</ns0:Message1>
</ns0:Messages>
What I want to accomplish is, I have a simple message mapping where the Studentdetails are mapped to, lets say Customer details. For convenience lets keep it simple, StudentId --> Customerid, (student)Firstname --> (customer)Firstname, (Student)Lastname --> (customer)Lastname
I would like to get the Customer details as an XML attachment or in the body of an email with from, to and subject corresponding to that specified in the <Mail> node.
I followed the instructions posted on the blog and it works fine if I don't map the studentdetails to customerdetails. I did multimapping, with one source message (the xml file I posted above) and two target messages (customerdetails and Mail, which is the external definition posted on the blog). I beleive I'm missing something here. Could somebody please guide me through this?
Thanks
Karthik

• Receiver Mail Adapter for PI 7.1 ehp1

Hi Experts,
Is there a way by using Mail Adapter (Receiver) to read the contents of the payload (which is considered also as the attachment) to be included in the body of the email?
Appreciate your help in advance. Thanks!
Cheers,
R-jay

Hi Shabarish,
Thanks for your answer.
I guess you misunderstood my query. What I would like to do is not to read the content of the email, but to read the content of payload and includes it on email. Using receiver mail adapter as standard (without using module or UDF), and configuring it as to sending the payload, you are just sending an email to the recipient with an attachment without any message in the body.
What I would like to know is how to send an email with details (on its body) taken from the information of the payload.
Cheers,

• Can Send Mail, But Can't Receive Mail (Post Safari 3.1 & Security Update)

Weird!
I was able to receive mail when I first came in today, but since updating this morning to Safari 3.1 and Security Update, unable to receive messages.
In "Activity Viewer", I can see Mail trying to get messages but stalls on "Fetching new mail...", "[INBOX - XXX] Updating cache, comparing notes on server...", and "Synchronizing with server... Traversing mailbox hierarchy..."
Not sure if it's related to updates, but it sure seems like it
The IT guys here at work are VERY PC-biased and tend to blame these type of things on "those Macs", so I could use your help!!!

Yeah, I'm having problems as well since the update. I get a message from the mail app that says
Mail was unable to verify the identity of this server, which has a certificate issued to "mail.mac.com". The error was:
An SSL error occurred while trying to read data from the server "mail.mac.com". Verify that this server supports SSL and that your account settings are correct.
You might be connecting to a computer that is pretending to be "mail.mac.com", and putting your confidential information at risk. Would you like to continue anyway?
I've not encountered this before.

• How to get extra information in server response "250 OK extra info here "

Hello all,
I am using javamail to send e-mail messages via an SMTP server that responds in the following way when I finish sending my DATA:
250 OK <extra information here>
How can I get the <extra information here> text using javamail?
I am using javamail version 1.4.3. The messages are sent using Transport.send(mime message, recipients[]).
Thank you very much for your help.
Best regards,
António

You'll need to manage the Transport object yourself (see the FAQ for examples,
or the smtpsend.java demo program), then use the SMTPTransport.getLastServerResponse()
method (see the javadocs and the demo program).

• Receiver mail channel - Configuration of email id's

Hi,
I am using mail package in receiver mail channel. Is there anyway that we can configure the 'To' email id's in the integration directory with mail package being used (either by adding some entries in the module/identifiers tabs etc., ?
I don't want to have the email id's to be taken either through mapping or property file etc.,
I appreciate your reply.
Regards
Gopal

Hi RGopal,
If the payload is in mail package format, the header information is used for the e-mail. For that make the entries for mail attributes (From, To, Subject).
Specifications for mail attributes:
1.On the Parameters tab page of the communication channel you have created newly or the existing one ; select the adapter type Mail.
2.Then select the Receiver radio button to define the adapter as a receiver adapter.
○ Under From, specify the e-mail address from which the message is sent.
○ Under To, specify the e-mail address that will receive the message. If you enter more than one address, you must separate them with a semicolon.
If you have specified an IMAP server under URL, the message is saved in the specified folder but is not sent to the receiver specified under To.
○ Under Cc, specify the other e-mail addresses to which the e-mail is to be sent.
These addresses are visible to the receiver.
○ Under Bcc, specify the other e-mail addresses to which the e-mail is to be sent.
These addresses are not visible to the receiver.
○ Enter the Subject of the e-mail message.
○ Specify whether you want to encode the content of the e-mail message. You have the following options:
■       None
■       Base64 (default value)
■       quoted-printable
○ If you have selected XIPAYLOAD as the message protocol and you want to forward XI attachments in the e-mail attachments, select Keep Attachments.
You use the PayloadSwapBean module to swap the application payload with one of the attachments.
See: PayloadSwapBean
*Pls: Reward points if helpful*

can not send mail using wifi at a motel .I can receive mail fine

Hi there tamarafromdarien,
You may find the troubleshooting steps for iCloud Mail in the article below helpful.
iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Mail
If you can't send mail in OS X Mail
If you receive this alert or a similar alert when sending a message from your iCloud email address in OS X Mail:
“This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered. The reason for the failure is: An error occurred while delivering this message via the smtp server: server name.”
In OS X Mail, choose Preferences from the Mail menu.
Click Accounts in the Preferences window.
Select your iCloud account from the list of accounts.
Click the Account Information tab.
Choose your iCloud account from the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) pop-up menu. Example: “Derrick Parker (iCloud)”.
Note: The Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) menu also includes an Edit SMTP Server List command. If you choose this command, be aware that the iCloud SMTP server won't be among the servers that can be edited. This is normal.
If you're attaching a large file
Message attachments can't exceed the maximum size allowed by your email service provider or the recipient's email service provider. The maximum size varies by service provider. Try compressing the filebefore sending it, or send your message without the attachment to verify that there are no issues with sending.
