Extra Large iphoto book on iPad air?

Why can I not see an option for an extra large photo book (11x13)? I see online that these are available yet my brand new ipad air does not have this option. Anybody know what the problem is?

Hi Johnny,
I have the same problem.
Please let me know if you have any luck with a solution?
Many thanks,
Doug

Can I change an Extra Large photo book to a smaller size once done?

Sure - butyour text boxes may need work since being a different size may affect the view - to change duplicate the book just in case (select it and press command - D) and then go to themes and select the same theme in teh new size - closly verify the modified book and preview it -
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.

  • Extra-large photo book available for iPhoto 08?

Can anyone tell me if I can create an extra large size photo book with iPhoto '08? I see online that extra-large (Size: 13x10 inches) is available, however in my iPhoto this option is not there (only large Size: 11x8.5 inches). Do I have to upgrade to iPhoto '09 in order to get that?
    Thank you.
    Irina

If I'm understanding this correctly, is there a work around, i.e. perhaps just purchasing the iPhoto upgrade to 09?
The only way to upgrade iPhoto is to purchase the iLife suite. There is no way to purchase an update to iPhoto alone.
It is surely contraindicative to me to not allow iPhoto 08 users to order a book that costs $50 instead of one that costs $30 without first spending $80 to upgrade!
Contraindicitative or not, adding the feature of the extra-large book means extra coding of the app, extra product testing and all the hoohaa that goes with releasing an update, and all of these are a cost. Extra features are an incentive to upgrade. Adding them to legancy versions lessens that incentive. I know of no software developer that adds features to an app after a newer version has come out.
it does not make economic sense for me to spent $80 just to be able to purchase something larger in size.
A calculation only you can make for yourself.

  • IPhoto on an iPad Air: Save As?

I opened an image from my iPad Air camera roll in my iPhoto App.
Is there a way from inside my iPhoto App to save a duplicate to the camera roll or iPad Air? I get confused in iPhoto when I crop an image, how do I keep the original and work on a duplicate?

How to get all the iWork apps, iPhoto, and iMovie for free on an eligible iPhone or iPad

  • MacBook Pro 17" iTunes can't sync address book with iPad Air

Can't sync between MacBook Pro 10.6 OS ver and new iPad Air (bought 2 days ago) cell 32gig.  Have been to Apple shop at Garden City WA, helpful but seems very little knowledge of 10.6 OS.  Have attempted upgrade on MacBook to Lion OS, persevered and seemed to work.  Except now the MacBook won't boot, even choosing drive unit, just spins the icon.  Even left it for a few hours just in case it needed time to sort itself out.
Back to Apple shop first thing in the morning, getting MacBook up and running is first priority followed by syncing address book with iPad.  If can't sync guess I'll have to return it as having them communicate is why I brought the iPad, something lighter in my brief case instead of carrying the MacBook around.
It became tiring being told the MacBook was old technology, having spent money with Apple upgrading the MacBook drive & memory to cope with Final Cut and Creative suite.
    Any advice most welcome!

Figured it out and it wasn't fun. I watched the console messages as I deleted groups and tried to sync with Mobile Me until no error msg was displayed. Then I restored AB from a back up and proceeded to delete contacts one at a time and check for errors until none were displayed. After deleting about half my contacts under the one group I finally found the one contact. I then did another AB restore, deleted the troubled contact, sync'd fine, then did another backup. I have no idea why that one contact was the problem as everything looked fine. Console msgs only showed a silly number as the contact, not the name, which is why I had to go through all this. But...it's fixed.

  • Efficient workflow for large iPhoto books

I have searched extensively but if this is covered somewhere else please forgive me and redirect, thanks.
    ===
When making an iPhoto book (love 'em!) I usually use smart albums to make a shortlist of pics to be included - but it isn't usually a short shortlist...(my current book's shortlist is 500+ and I would imagine my books usually end up with somewhere between 300 - 400 pics
So the maximum 100 pages is usually filled with quite a lot of unplaced pics left.  I then whittle down the placed pics to make room for the best of the unplaced... it's a long way from efficient
It would help if there was a way, once having edited out a few placed photos, if the same number of unplaced photos then auto filled in the empty spaces.. I haven't found a way to do that.
If anybody knows a way for me to proceed OTHER THAN the alternative which I do know which is to be more selective in the first place so I start each book with a lower number - if thats what I have to do, so be it but if there was another way.....

FWIW I create a new, separate library for each book.  I assemble the photos to be used in to an album in the main library and then copy it to the book library with the paid version of  iPhoto Library Manager.
When I'm done with the book and it's ordered I cull out the photos I didn't use in the book and then archive the book library to another HD, a CD or DVD disk (if small enough to fit).  This way the book is isolated from the day to day use of my main library and any accidental deletions of photos in the book.  If I want to reorder a copy, edited or not,  I know the book is intact.

  • IPhoto app on iPad Air

I have purchased the iPhoto app. And when I try to make a web journal or a slideshow or export some photos iMovie, nothing happens. I have selected the photos and done everything and the export begins, but it just hangs and nothing happens. This is very discouraging.

Are you using the same Apple ID on the iPad that you used when you activated the device? If someone activated it with another ID, the apps will not appear as free when you are signed into your ID.
If that doesn't apply, try signing out of your ID, close the App Store, reset the iPad, and try again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID>Tap your ID and sign out.
Close the App Store app. To close an app, drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Now reset the iPad. Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Sign in.

  • Aperture extra large book two-page spread looks not connected correctly across gutter

Just previewed a extra large photo book in Aperature 3 before buying and in their preview .pdf the hook-up across2-page photo spread looks slightly offset—not connected correctly where image meets in the gutter. Is this a real representation or will it print correctly?

  • Iphoto 2 reduces image quality on iPad Air

I seems there is a significant reduction in image quality when editing images in iPhoto 2 (iOS7) on an iPad Air.
Not sure which component is the real problem ... and no, I'm not talking about file size (I know they are reduced) - I talk about dpi
    So here's my old setup:
Nikon 5000 (image quality fine), iPad 3, Connection Kit for SD card, iPhoto on iOS 6
... with that setup I was able to save my edited pictures back to camera roll and the still had 300 dpi
    My current setup:
Nikon 5000 (image quality fine), iPad Air, New Connection Kit for SD card (lightning), iPhoto 2.0 on iOS 7
... now my adited images only save back to the camera roll with 72 dpi!
As my DSLR and the SD cards are the same than before it seems that either
    - Connection Kit
    - iPhoto 2
    - iOS7
    - iPad Air
    is the trouble maker!
While iPhoto seems the obvious source for the problem I had an experience that makes me think it could also be the iPad Air:
After creating a video with iVideo (with material from the iPhone 5) I saved this bakc to the camera roll and it was resized (resulting in cuts on the left and right edges) on the iPad.
Copying the same Video to iVideo via AirDrop on my iPhone 5 and savicg it to camera roll there resulted in a correct non-resized version.
So while I can easily live with that workaround for Video the reduction in images from 300 dpi to 72 dpi is signifikant and a real problem.
Anybody experiencing the same, any hints what I can do different to avoid thar reduction?

Just found an interesting article that may be the solution of my problem:
    http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/icloud-photo-stream-and-image -quality/
As I brought together pictures from my DSLR and the iPhone I think I used the Shared PhotoStream folder for editing them in iPhoto 2. In the past I usually worked on the pictures separately (and directly form the Camera Roll) as I didn't mix so much DSLR and iPhone use.
That should explain it and I have to remember to edit directly in the camera roll and the next time.
So it's not a big deal ... I still have all the originals and will save them somewere in my Dropbox if I need them in higher resolution. At least I know I have to change my re-work behavior in the future.

  • Binding Quality of Hardcover iPhoto Books

I'm interested to hear of the experiences of other iPhoto users with the new hardcover iPhoto books. I just received a new hardcover book I made for my wife. The book looks beautiful and the printing is great. However, the binding seems to be a little flimsy, with the back flyleaf pulling away from the cover. Since this is all that holds the pages between the covers, I'm concerned that the pages may eventually fall out. The last time I ordered a hardcover book from Apple was in 2003, and that book had cloth-covered boards and the binding system seemed much sturdier.
I am currently working on a large iPhoto book that will contain even more pages (more than 50 double-sided sheets) than the one I just received. This is to be a Christmas gift for a relative and I want to order it with a hardcover. However, if the binding is unreliable, I would consider a spiral-bound version instead.
Does anyone here have an opinion about Apple's hardcover binding?

    Michael
Welcome to the Apple user to user assistance forums.
I am happy with the binding - I have books from both iPhoto '08 and '09 and have had no problems with either - if your binding is unacceptable I'm sure Apple will correct it - http://www.apple.com/support/photoservices/returns/
I've not seen a single post here about pages falling out since I've been involved - do a search of the forum to verify for yourself

  • Delete photos from IPAD air

Just got an IPad air and want to see what Iphoto on the Ipad air was providing me
Transfer an album from IMAC to IPAD Air using ITunes (sync)
After I finished "playing" with Iphoto on the Ipad air:
From Itunes (IMAC), remove the album and sync it with the Ipad air
    Results:
It delete the album from the Ipad air BUT:
all photos (from the album) are still on the Ipad air and I can't find a way to delete them
How do I get rid of the photos?

If iPhoto cam efree with the iPad, it should now be tied to the AppleID you used, when you set up the iPad. You will need to use the same AppleID when you sign into the AppStore to download iPhoto again, and then it show as free.
    Reinstall the affected app
Remove the app from your device and reinstall it:
Tap and hold any app icon on the Home Screen until the icons start to wiggle and show a small "x" in the top-left corner of the app.
Tap the "x" in the corner of the app you want to delete.
Tap Delete to remove the app and all of its data from your device.
    Press the Home button.
    Go to the App Store.
Search for the app and download it again.
Note: If it's a paid app, make sure you're using the iTunes account you purchased the app with originally. If it isn't, you may be asked to purchase the app again. Learn more about downloading previously purchased items.

  • Question: additional paid for levels on iPad air

I paid for sone additional levels on my iPad 2 of several games. When I downloaded them to my recently acquired iPad air! only the first few free levels downloaded! not the xtras I have paid for. How do I get those paid for extra levels over to my iPad air please?
    Thanks Eden

YOu need to talk to the game developer to find out why.
Are you using the same Apple ID for both devices? because your purchase is tied to your Apple ID. You may also poke around in the game's setting as look for a 'restore purchases' or something similar. Usually there's the game download, then the extra download of in app purchases, so you often need to get your game, then go and reclaim your purchases.

  • IPhoto Book linescreen, resolution, and color space

to maximize the quality of the iPhoto book I plan to preparemy image files, but I need to know some things about the printing process. Does anybody know the following for the production of the Large iPhoto books:
    linescreen
    print resolution
    colorspace
ANY accepted file types (16 bit layered Tiffs, JPG, or other)
    and possibly dot gain (?)
Anybody using Pixel Genius' PhotoKit Sharpener to prepare their files? If so which output sharpeneing settings did you use?
    Thanks

    Joe:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I'll try to answer those that I can.
Linescreen - not familiar with that term but read a while ago that 150 lpi printers were used. Don't know if that's related or not. Also there seems to be a difference (for large book at least) between those printed at the West coast site and those from the East coast site. The west coast books were reported better.
Print resolution - large books are printed at 150 dpi. However, you can change the dpi resolution of the pdf file that gets created for uploading and printing as follows:
Method to increase the print resolution for books:
1 - download and run Pref Setter.
2 - open the iPhoto preference file from within Pref Setter.
3 - locate the Keys titled BookTargetMediumImageDPI, BookTargetSmallImageDPI and BookTargetImageDPI.
4 - change their current values to 300.
5 - save and quit Pref Setter.
Colorspace - I've used sRGB but don't know if that's the optimal one. My results have been OK in my mind.
Files accepted - all those you've listed are acceptable. Tiff file shouldn't have alpha layers as iPhoto doesn't play well with them.
Dot gain - don't know what that is.
For sharpening of those I've sharpened I used Photoshop's Unsharp Mask filter.
