Extra "Private" File

After restoring, using time machine, 10.5.8 from 10.6 because of compatibility issues, I have an extra "Private" file on my desktop. Do I need to keep it?

Probably not. What kind of file is it? Can you tell what it is via QuickLook (control-click on it)?

Thanks! I have been having to open iTunes as an administrator for a year - never could find the answer. Now I am trying to link the account to Disney Movie Rewards and I needed it to open under menot administrator. I deleted the Extras file and then also needed to delete the Genius file. Once that was done it opened immediately.

To solve this issue all I did was check to ensure that the file permissions were set as described by the earlier posts, followed by simply deleting the iTunes Library Genius.itdb file. Once the file was deleted I was able to open iTunes without difficulty. Note that I am running Windows 8. Hope this helps!

I downloaded iTunes 11.
When I try to open it I get the message "The iTunes Library Extras.itdb file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission"
My boot drive is a SSD.
My iTunes library is stored on the main HD but I have not had this problem before.
I have gone back to the iTunes folder and given full read and write permissions-still no luck. Rebooted
Any thoughts?

I actually was having problems with syncing of my iphone. It was suggested I get rid of this file. I took it from my itunes folder (unsure where it was. I just searched the folder) and put it on my desktop. When I plugged in tmy iPhone, it reappeared and my sync went fine. I am guessing you can do the same

Why is The iTunes Library Extras.itdb file locked?

After my walk this morning I tried to connect up to iTunes to chargemy ipod and update my tunes and got an error message:
"The iTunes Library.itdb file is locked, on a locked disc, or you do not have write permission for this file."
WHY WHY WHY ???

I had the same problem after a "force quit".
1. Quit iTunes
2. Locate your iTunes folder in finder and open it
3. Locate the "iTunes Library Extras.itdb" file, right click it and select Copy "iTunes Library Extras.itdb"
5. Rename your original "iTunes Library Extras.itdb" to "iTunes Library ExtrasOld".itdb
6. Move the your copied "iTunes Library Extras.itdb file back into the same folder as i came from
Repeate 3>6 for the "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" file
Re-open iTunes, the error messages should now be gone.

But when I try exporting the movie again it creates the ICMMultiPassStorage file again. I have made sure my scratch disks are set to my external hard drive so I know that isn't the issue. How do I fix this problem so these temporary files are not being stored on my internal hard drive instead of my external?Thanks!

Try exporting the timeline "using current settings" via Make QuickTime Movie, then submit that clip to Compressor for the transcode. This should be faster and less painful.

Does Lightroom create an extra JPG file?

I'm new to Lightroom. When I import images from my camera and exit Lightroom, I notice that every JPG has been exactly duplicated with the addition of a _2 as a suffix. The DNG files are not duplicated. I'm quite certain my camera is not doing this, as it hasn't done this before. This creates an extra cleanup task as I must delete all these extras. What gives?

Since I'm new to LR, I did an Import. One other person mentioned that maybe I imported into the same folder, thus creating dups. I will watch carefully next time. I'm willing to give LR a chance as I know many people swear by it. I guess if someone has tens of thousands if images, fast keyword searches can be helpful, but I "catalog" my images by discrete folders, so I know where everything is. That might not be the case when I get many more images.

What is your workflow for importing images? Do you use something other than LR to copy images from a memery card to the HD, and then import into LR? What option (at the top of the import window are you using for import (Add, Copy, Move, etc.)?

Problem ripping CD's that have "CD Extras" (extra media files, like videos, for

Can anyone figure this out?
I've been having this very annoying problem while ripping CD's onto my Zen Sleek using the Media Explorer. Occationally, it will rip all but the LAST SONG. The progress bar shows 00% completion, but instead of finishing off by transfering the final song to the player, it goes back to the initial screen (showing all but the last song as ripped; all but the last are in fact ripped and on my player).
It MAY be that these discs have CD extras (i.e. extra media files for your PC). Has anyone been having this or any problems with CDs that that have extras?
I have had this identical problem on two machines, both using XP.
Please help if you can!

First thing, I would see if WMP can rip a CD in MP3 format.
That would tell us whether it's a general drive problem, or something specific to itunes.

EXTRAER determinadas filas en labview

Quisiera saber cómo puedo extraer las filas que corresponden a "U" (ver imagen adjunta) y ponerlas en un arreglo, luego las filas que corresponden a P y por último las filas que corresponden a L. Es decir, obtener 3 arreglos finales, uno de filas u, otro de filas P y otro de filas L.

Hola pcortes , agradezco sus respuestas.... esos datos los obtengo de un archivo .csv, y acomodo en un arreglo.
Es correcto lo que mencionas, aquí el arreglo es 2D.
El inconveniente es que son varias filas u, varias l, varias p y extraer una fila por una, no resultaria eficiente.
Mi objetivo es "clasificarlas"y acomodarlas todas las filas u, en un arreglo, todas las filas l, en otro y todas las filas p en otro. Posteriormente graficar esos 3 arreglos; con el eje X que contenga las fecha y horas y en el eje Y que se indiquen los estados U,P y L.
¿CÓMO PUEDO HACER ESO?

Getting rid of the extra index file?

Hey I've been uploading to an ftp that we run 2 websites off of and every time i update using iweb it puts an extra index file outside of the folder and I have to go and delete it (the other site defaults to this page instead of its home page). Is there any way to get it to stop putting this "extra" file on the ftp? I also noticed that it does this when you publish the site to a folder.

No. If you notice how iWeb publishes, it is part of the site structure that when publishing to a folder there is one Site folder with the same name as your site and the index file. When you upload to an external server, you are supposed to upload both your site folder and index file so that the index file points to the site folder.
This is how iWeb publishes and has done so since iWeb 06, through 08 to 09. No different and there is nothing you can do about it except delete it if you don't need to use it.

Restored iTunes folder from Time Machine, get error iTunes Library Extras.itdb file

I restored my iTunes folder from a Time Machine backup (due to my kids deleting some playlists, which I wanted to recover).
After that completed, I am unable to open iTunes, I get the error: "The iTunes Library Extras.itdb file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission."
Now, when I was doing the restore, it paused twice to tell me something like: a particular song could not be transferred, since there was already a copy of it with the same name... and something about it being case insensitive. I selected OK each time that happened, made a note of the song thinking oh well I can just get a copy of that song again if I lose it.
Any ideas? I looked at permissions for the iTunes folder, I have read and write permission.

Chris, thanks for that suggestion. I would still like for my kids to access my iTunes music, but just don't want them to mess with the playlists etc.

... to share the library with them, I'm guessing that they could still make changes to the playlists etc? (it doesn't specify in that article.)
