  • Text Format Report to Dot Matrix Printer

    Hi,
I would like to know how do I output my reports to dot matrix printer. In this way I need to output the report from Report Server (in text format) and send it to the dot matrix printer.
If I send the report in PDF or JSP format, then the printing process will be slow as PDF or JSP format may contains some graphical objects. The printing process will be faster if the report is in text format.
How do I output the report from the Report Server in text format to the dot matrix printer?
    Cheers

  • Extra space in text file line

This one is not critical, just aesthetical. My program writes lots of lines of info into a text file. One section of my code seems to include an extra empty space at the beginning of the line. The text is correct, but it just looks awkward being one space off from all the other lines of text.
I will include a sample of the section of code writing to the text file. I didn't include all of my code, so parts of the sample I'm including will show errors, but you can get the gist of what I'm trying to do.
In the line that displays "Start time of switch setting", the text is moved one spot over. Why?

space in first text file line - sample code.vi ‏28 KB

Yup, that seemed to do the trick! I never even tinkered with "edit format string" of my "format into string" tools. I just wired my strings into them and let 'er rip.
I ended up looking into the format of my other "format into string" tools in my program and they were set up the same - a space between each %s. But only that one "format into string" tool between string lines 5 and 6 did it actually place a space in the resulting text. Weird. Nowhere else did that occur.
    Thanks for the help!
And tell me about desctructive kids!! I have 4 kids - all under the age of 6! I know all about toilets clogged by toys, lipstick smeared on walls, hand lotion all over just cleaned laundry, etc.
My brother worked at a govt. contractor for a few years until he moved on to bigger and better. Years later he was browsing the stock section of the newspaper and he was reminded that he still had some stock from that company. So he glanced at the stock value listed in the paper and found he had almost $10,000 just sitting there! He bought a beautiful new Martin acoustic. I love that guitar! I have an old Fender dreadnought acoustic. I took it once to a guitar dealer to trade it in. He looked at it and handed it back and told me I better hold on to it, it was worth more than I realized.
Probably not worth enough to put 4 kids through college though.

  • Crystal 2008 for VS 2010 - Report formatting issues in viewer (extra space)

    Hello,
We have a Windows Form application developed in VS 2010 using the Crystal 2008 for VS 2010 runtime. We are having issue with extra spaces in text objects. For example: in a report header we have an object that has text similar to this:
This report will print a list of all Serial Numbers in the Serial Table that are missing related Serial Meter records.
When we run it within Crystal 2008 Designer, it looks great; however, when we run it from the Windows Viewer we developed, it looks like this:
This report will print a list of all Serial Numbers in the Serial Table that are missing related Serial Meter records    .
The viewer places extra spaces between records and the period (.).  We also noticed it places spaces in phone numbers:
    952 -555-555
There's an extra space between the 2 and the dash (-).
One thing we noticed is, if you change the viewer zoom to 98%, then the extra spacing goes away.
We just upgraded to SP1 for Crystal 2008 for VS 2010 and still the same issue. We are referencing these DLLS: CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll, CrystalDecisions.ReportSource, CrystalDecisions.Shared, and CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms all version are 13.0.2000.0.
    Any help would be great.
    Thank you,
    Tyler

    Hi Tyler,
I copied the text from your other post into a new report and changed the fonts and previewed in my C# test app and I don't see the problem.
"We have a Windows App that we just converted to .NET 4.0 and updated the viewer to the Crystal Reports Viewer in VS 2010. When we 952-555-555 open a report that has a large block of static text in paragraphs left-aligned the spacing around punctuation is awful - there's almost a tab's worth of space between the last letter and the period. U.S. looks like US. This happens both with reports that were created in VS2008 and ones that were created in VS2010. It is only a problem in the viewer's display - if we print to a printer or export to PDF the spacing around punctuation is fine. It's also not a problem on our development workstations which are running Windows 7, but is a problem on our test servers which are running Windows 2003 Server. I ran the modules tool and found that the version of usp10.dll does match what the previous thread said it should be and it's coming from the c:\program files\sap businessobjects\crystal reports for .net framework 4.0\common\sap businessobjects enterprise xi 4.0\win32_x86\ folder. On my development machine when I run the modules tool I notice that a second instance of usp10.dll is called which is the version installed with Windows 7. We've tried changing fonts but none of the ones we've tried (originally in Times New Roman, 12, tried Arial, Times and various sizes) have made a difference. We also tried changing the print options with no improvement. The only thing that makes it slightly better is full-alignment but our customer insists that it be left-aligned."
I threw in the telephone number also you noted in this post.
I created a new report and copied the text above into a text object and then previewed. I then changed the fonts to various types and I don't see the problem.
I also used Courier New because it's a fixed font layout, meaning the same letter always uses the same amount of space, and it shows just fine also.
I've seen issues where the Video driver and screen size can affect the spacing. Usually updating the Video driver or changing your screen resolution resolves the problem.
What Video Drivers and Monitor are you using?
    And What OS?
    Thank you
    Don

  • Unable to add special characters such as # and ( in headers of Report in Text format

    Hi,
I am working on developing a report that will be exported to tab delimited text format from SSRS. The Report has been developed and it is getting exported to tab delimited text format. However, special characters in the heading are getting trimmed. I would
like to get these special characters in the heading of text file. Any help in this regard will be appreciated.

    Hi Abhijit,
Per my understanding that you have add an extension which export the report as .txt format, now the issue is the special characters"#" not display after exportted, right?
I have tested on my local environment and can reproduce the issue , this is by default, when you type some special characters "#" as the textbox name  in the properties window or as calculatted field name you will get error pop up window,
if you type the text in the textbox as "#" it will also not display in the CSV or tab delimited text format report.
But we have some alternative method to make them display some way, more details information below for your reference:
Display "#" in the table header
If we want to make them display in the table header, we need to create an new table an put all the table header as one record in the table, because the value in the table can display "#" correctly:
I assumed you have four columns as the table header(Test1#,Test2#,Test3#,Test4#) please create an new table (HeaderTable )to store these value:
    Create two dataset2:
Dataset1: display the record from step1
DataSet2:display the record of the report
Create two Tablixs as below and both remove the header column, Tablix1(Dataset1) diplay the value comes from the step1 as the new header column:
     Tablix1(Dataset2):Report Data
In this way, when export to tab delimited txt, you will got the table header display correctly.
Display "#" in the textbox outisde of the tablix
If you just want to display "#" outside the tablix, you can just add an calculatted field(Test) and use expression like below to specify the value which you want to display in the calculatted field:
    ="test######test"
Then you can use below expression in the textbox:
    =first(Fields!Test.Value, "DataSetName")
If you still have any problem, please feel free to ask.

  • Space around text in textField.

    Hi,
    See attatched code.
I made a simpel textFiled with some text and a border.
Does anyone knows how to get rid of the extra space between
the text and the border of the textField? I'm goning crazy with
    this.
I made the width of the textFiled the width of the text and
the height of the textField the height of the text. But because of
the extra space the text will not show as I wanted to be.
Is there a solution for this? To remove the extra space
    surrounding the text?
    Thanks.

    unfortunately no :(
I tried that already. There is also no top margin and bottom
margin property that I could use :(
I have a text line, and I must position this line to the x/y
coordinates of the righttop of the textField. But with this space
it will not exactly position on the given x/y.
There must be a solution to get rid of this space? Or maybe I
use the wrong object to do this?
    Anyone?

  • Crystal for VS 2010 - formatting issues in viewer (extra space) again

We're having the same problem as the one in this thread link:[Crystal 2008 for VS 2010 - Report formatting issues in viewer (extra space);. There's no resolution in the thread and it's been closed. I'm hoping that creating a new thread may cause someone to answer this problem.

Re. the other thread. I never did receive a sample of the report to test with. Perhaps I can get one from you? I need you to ensure that the issue occurs with a "saved data" report. If it does, let me know if you can share it and I'll contact you via email. My comment in the other thread re. available time, priorities, etc., still applies. Also, just to be clear. Service Pack 2 for CRVS2010 is closed now. Thus if I am able to reproduce the issue the fix will be targeted for October \ November time frame - no guarantees though...

  • URGENT -- Printing reports adds extra spaces in between pages

    Hello Experts,
I would like to ask for your help regarding printing from concurrent requests.
I am currently having an issue with printing multiple pages from Oracle reports, both in text format and RTF/PDF formats.
When I generate a multiple page report and print it directly from a concurrent request, print outs generate extra space after each page even though page size is indicated in the reports (all of them are in letter size).
I have already tried editing the printer drivers both the actual driver config file and through the application but the results are still the same.
This is very important since printing is done on continuous paper and continuous pre-printed forms
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

  • Embedded Tabs And Extra Spaces Dropped In Text

    1. When I copy text with embedded tabs or xxtra spaces between words from a TXT file into the    TextBox of the Email using clipboard, the Email converts all tabs into single space and removes   all extra spaces between words into one single space between words messing up my formatting of   text in the message to be sent. Have to manually clean up the formatting to match the text in the   original TXT file when I use ComCast Email. This problem does not occur when I use  OutLook. ComCast Email should NOT remove embedded tabs or xxtra spaces between words.  This problem needs to be fixed in ComCast Email. 2. I can insert tab characters in the Email TextBox of OutLook. I cannot do it in ComCast Email.   When a cursor is in the TextBox of the Email, it should allow one to insert tabs in the TextBox.   Instead, it treats tab keys to jump out of the TextBox and go to the next object in the EMail form.   When a cursor is NOT in the TextBox, then tab keys can be used to jump to the next Object in the   EMail form. Outlook works this way. Please respond on this issue ASAP. Thnak U very much. God bless. Mike.

  • Crystal report : Export to Text format from BI Launch pad

    Hi,
We are facing issue in exporting the Crystal report to text format option from BI Launch pad view mode. Currently BI launch pad doesn’t support export to Text format option for crystal report in view mode. But export to text format option is feasible in schedule mode. But customer is not interested in exporting the reports through schedule mode.
Please advise, if we have any alternative way of exporting the crystal report to text format option from BI Launch pad.
    Thanks,

    Hi Chinnu,

    Hi Siri,
Try these following steps in your report...... i think, it will lead you to solve your problem.
    1. Give output length of alv column as 10.
    2. OUTPUTLEN is there in Field catalogue
    3. "gt_layout TYPE lvc_s_layo" -  use this one field col_opt

  • Addition of extra Space issue in site studio text element

    Hi,
we have implemented WCM for our website. We are in webcenter PS3 version.
At places where we have used text element for titles of various sections,
if we append one extra space and save it, it displays as   in front end.
When we remove the space, it does not clear. But if we cut and paste once the word once again it is perfect.
Is there any solution to trim that space when it is displayed at front end. Please suggest.
    Regards,
    Bhaskar

enclose your text element with strTrimWs.
Removes spaces from the beginning and end of a string.

  • Export Excel Table in .txt File with space delimited text in UNICODE Format

    Hi all
I've a big unsolved problem: I would like to convert an Excel table with some laboratory data in it (descriptions as text, numbers, variables with some GREEK LETTERS, ...). The output should be a formatted text with a clear structure. A very good solution is
given by the converter in Excel "Save As" .prn File. All works fine, the formattation is perfect (it does not matter if some parts are cutted because are too long), but unfortunately the greek letters are converted into "?"!!!
I've tried to convert my .xlsx File in .txt File with formatting Unicode and the greek letters are still there! But in this case the format is not good, the structure of a table is gone!
Do you know how to save an Excel file in .prn but with Unicode formatting instead of ANSI or a .txt with space delimited text?
Thanks a lot to everyone that can help me!
    M.L.C.

This solution works in Excel/Access 2013.
Link the Excel table into Access.
In Access, right-click the linked table in the Navigation Pane, point your mouse cursor to "Export", and then choose "Text File" in the sub-menu.
Name the file, and then under "Specify export options", check "Export data with formatting and layout".  Click "OK".
Choose either Unicode or Unicode (UTF-8) encoding.  Click "OK".
Click "Close" to complete the export operation.

  • How do I generate a report in text format

How do I generate a report in text format and send it to both a file and to a printer?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I run a series of tests on multiple stations and I need to generate a report, both electronic and one to be printed for a DHR (device history record), for each station. If I use file i/o as you suggested is the preferred approach to generate an electronic file and make the report from that, or generate both the electronic and hard copy report from arrays as the measurement data is acquired. Note that the electronic data is more detailed than the data in the hardcopy report.
