Extra time zone on iCloud cal

Hey guys,
I do quite abit of cross continental scheduling.
When I switch time zones (say from Pacific time to Asia time), my calendar's times change.
Next to each time, ical shows other time zones, which is useful for scheduling. i.e. 5PM (8 AM GMT +8)
However, some times zones are in EST - i.e. 5PM (8AM EST), while some times are in Asia time. i.e. 5pm (8 AM GMT +8).
My desired secondary time (in the brackets) is Asia Time, which is GMT +8. Why are some of my times in EST, while some in GMT? How do I set it such that all are in GMT +8 (Asia) times?
Thanks!
Justin

Have you tried changing the time zone in the System/Date & Time/ Time Zone preference pane on your Mac rather than online?

  • How can I change the default time zone in ICloud?

I'm in the UK but the only ICloud time zone I'm offered is the Pacific.  I'd be grateful for suggestions on how to sync my calendar in the week view with BST. At present the nearest I can get is the Azores.
    Thanks.

Log into icloud.com, in the  account setting click onto the timezone.
click onto the map close to your home town.
Press the button below the map for a full list of time zones at the same meridian/longitude and select the closest city.

  • Apia, Samoa time zone support for iCloud

There does not seem to be support for the Apia, Samoa time zone in iCloud.  This is an idiosyncratic time zone being UTC +13hrs with daylight savings (UTC +14hr) during the "summer" commencing at 3am on the last Sunday in September and ceasing at 4am on the first Sunday in April.
    http://www.timeanddate.com/time/zone/samoa/apia
Tonga, Tokelau and Rawaki (Kiribati) have the same time zone but no DST.
American Samoa has the same time but a day earlier and no DST.
I tried to make an Apple support request but it wants an Apple hardware ID and I'm using iCloud on a Sony Vaio.

It looks like the reminders don't "float" - so all the dates and times I set for reminders while in St. Lous are reporting at weird times because of the time change from Tokyo time. Is there any way of fixing this short of resetting all the times?
    Thanks,

  • Cannot completely turn off time zone support in the iPhone calendar

In iOS7 it was possible in settings to turn off time zone support in the calendar. (This is not the same as having the date and time of the phone automatically change to current time zone which is generally what one wants and is not affected by calendar time zone support.) The problem in iOS8 is that Time Zone Override is not the same as Time Zone on/off. Here is an an example.
    1) you live in Chicago and central time is your "home" time zone.
    2) you find out about a meeting in New York at 1:00pm next week. You want to add the meeting to your calendar. If you add it at 1:00pm, when you arrive in New York (and change time zones), it will change the meeting time to 2:00pm.
Time Zone Override does not turn off the time zone calendar support. It provides two different views (time in current time zone and time in home tine zone). But time zones are irrelevant when I am scheduling an event at a known time. (Time Zone Override ON seems to work only if you are out of your home time zone and schedule something in your home time zone. But this is almost never what I encounter since I am usually at home, and need to schedule an event outside my home time zone.)

It would seem that way. But with "time zone support" on, you'll simply view your events "as if" you were in a certain time zone.
Example: I create an event in California for 6pm. ( A "California event") If I turn "time zone support" on, and select my time zone as Los Angeles, nothing changes. But if I select Oklahoma city, the time WILL change to 8pm, because it assumes I need to view a "California event" in Central Time.
"Time Zone Support" was created for people that have phone conferences in different time zones. The feature allows one standard time to be used in the calendar, and anyone outside the time zone can use "time zone support" to read it in thier respective time zone.
I'm saying this feature is trying to complicatedly simplify the calendar. I can use the organ between my ears to assume the correct time zone. And having to dig into my preferences in order to view my events correctly is completely insane.
All I want is to create an event, set an alarm, and not have to EVER worry about it changing.
I assumed that turning "time zone support" off would accomplish this as it did in the past. But the calendar STILL REMEMBERS WHERE AN EVENT WAS CREATED. So if the time zone ever changes, it will try to view the event according to the time zone you are currently in.
iCloud does the same thing. When you set your time zone on iCloud, it will view an event according to THAT time zone. If you are in Central time and create an event, your iCloud calendar better be set to Central time or else there will be a descrepancy between your phone calendar and your iCloud calendar.
I just want to turn off "time zone support" COMPLETELY.

  • Calender events disappear time zone/location service problem

By accident I turned OFF the location service for the time zone (system services). Then I created a huge amount of annual events (repeating every year) birthdays etc in my calendar by hand. Yesterday I turned ON the location service for time zone and now all the annual events are gone.
I don't have the iPhone calendar synced at all. All my regular events, even the ones repeating every week, is still in the calendar and works properly. I guess the problem is because of the time zone location service, but I can't bring the events back whatever I do. Help needed!

  • How do I sync my icloud calendar between iPhone 5 and macbook pro without a 1 hour difference? I've made sure that the time zones are the same on all devices and it's still doing it.

I cannot get my iphone 5 and macbook pro to display the same time on my calendar. There is a one hour  difference between them and it is driving me crazy!! Please help!!!

Did you also confirm that the time zone was set correctly on icloud.com (click on your name, check Time Zone)?

  • Automatic Time Zone chooses wrong continent - Lion/iCloud

I live in Melbourne, Australia but when I set the Date/Time prefs to the "Set Time Zone Automatically" it chooses Wayne, MI - United States which is approx' 16 hours behind. It worked fine for a while and it malfununctioned soon after setting up an iCloud account.
Also, a few days after setting up iCloud each entry in my Address Book was duplicated including mine, the administrators.
I have run disc repair ( no help) but not from the startup disc. Can I use the Snow Leapard startup disc to run disc repair after updating to Lion?
    Thanks, Brendan.

You can run Repair Disk from the Restore  Partiton your HD. Restart the computer, when you hear the startup tone choose the Restore Partition and then open Repair Disk. However I'd be surprised if that has anything to do it with it. You should run Repair Disk Permissions at least 2x, and then if you want run Repair Disk. Then restart the computer in Safe Mode to clear some caches. Then restart normal and check the Time Zone.
I also suspect you don't have iCloud setup correctly. You should check in Address Book preferences and see if you have duplicate accounts, I suspect you do. If I'm correct that would create duplicate entries.

  • Anyone having problems changing iCloud Time Zone?

    Hi all.
I've set up my iCloud services here in the UK and all seems fine so far. However, when I logged into iCloud.com for the first time it set my Time Zone as Cupertino (the number of times Apple do this I think I might have to move there just so I don't have to change it again) but I can't change it. I have clicked on where it says Pacific Time and this opens the little map but no matter where I click on the map it just pops the map off screen and puts me back as Cupertino.
Anyone any ideas? Just buggy? My setup (Mac Mini, Lion 10.7.2, trackpd)?
Any help appreciated. My calendars look weird displaying 8hrs behind.....

OK then it seems this is related to another issue I was having. It seems Apple's iCloud service does not work well under Safari 5.1.1 and some of the necessary functions don't always work. Installed Firefox and it's up and running.

  • Time zone error at Icloud

There is a bug in the Icloud which I need support.
When I add a new event in the Iphone or Ipad, it is uploaded to Icloud correctly.
But when the Outlook downloads it, Outlook 2012 receives the event one hour earlier.
    It creates a huge confusion.
Apple should fix it because it is a primary time zone error.
    Can anyone help me?

  • My laptop iCloud calendar did not adjust to daylight savings time.  Do I need to manually move all the appointments are is there somewher I can do this.  All I found was the time zone adjustmant and that didn't help

when daylight saving time started last Sunday, my iCloud appointments on my laptop moved up one hour to 9 a.m.  They're supposed to be at 10 a.m. which is what's showing on my iPhone.  Is there an adjustment for this somewhere?  I tried the time zone adjustment, nothing there was helpful.

Please please help me, if you know how.

  • What does time zone support do on iCloud? Should I leave it off or turn it on?

I find time zone support to be one of the most confusing things Apple does.
If I travel from Chicago to Florida (Central to Eastern time) my appointment times change on the Mac.
I'm not sure what they will do on the iPhone,
and really, what does it do in iCloud? It is an advanced option as I found out when all my Chicago appointments showed up two hours earlier in the cloud.
I changed to Central time, using the instructions on iCloud, but what is the value of time zone support there? The Apple server is not moving when I travel. Should I just leave it turned off?

they are not always on the same time due to daytime saving time changes twice a year in Israel which are not syncronized with any changes in Gaza, Beirut, etc.

  • ICloud Mail on my Mac won't show correct time zone.

In Settings I have time zone set to central time but mail keeps displaying pacific time. My Mac is displaying central time, so it appears to be an iCloud mail issue. The time zone is correct on my other devices (iPad and iPhone). But on my desktop iMac and my MacBook Pro it does not work.

I am having the same problem. The time displayed on my outgoing mail from my Mac is Pacific time although I am in the Eastern time zone.

  • How to fix, incorrect time zone adjustment from iCloud to iPhone Calendar?

I entered a calendar event on iCloud using my PC.  The event is displayed an hour later on my iPhone. i.e (iCloud) Flight; 2:15pm --> (iPhone) Flight; 3:15pm.
The Time Zone setting is correct (Eastern Daylight Savings) on both the PC and iCloud.
I have had a similar issue when syncing calendar between Yahoo and iPhone.
Any similar experiences? Can this be fixed?
    Thanks.

I re-checked the iCloud timezone settings and found that it was set to "Eastern Standard Time" not Daylight savings time. Odd. I clicked on the map again and it changed to "Eastern Time".  I tried again and it seems to be working.  I am assuming that the "Eastern Time" timezone adjusts automatically.
I haven't figured out the issue with Yahoo calendar yet. Any suggestions?
I also followed up with Ralph Landry1's suggestion and Time Zone support is set to off. Thanks for the heads up.
