Extra wifi cost?

I have a friend who has an iPhone 3G. In her system preferences, she only has 3G on, as opposed to wifi. The point being, she only uses the 3G network, as opposed to the iPhone automatically searching for networks, and joining open networks.
The reason why is because her dad -- who knows nothing about the iPhone -- told her that defaulting to wifi will "cost more" on the monthly bills.
Any truth to that? I thought the iPhone was set up to locate wifi; and that if it finds a hotspot it will join that network. I'm not aware of an extra cost when you do that. The only thing I could think of is if you're in a Starbucks that (disgustingly) charges you for wifi use.
Can someone confirm?

There is no extra cost for wi-fi access with the iPhone, unless an available wi-fi network charges for access.
In regards to Starbucks wi-fi access, Starbucks switched from T-Mobile to AT&T as their provider, which is free for AT&T subscribers with iPhones.
The iPhone will not automatically join open/non-protected available wi-fi networks. There is an option - ask to join networks, which will ask you when there is an available wi-fi network regardless if an available wi-fi network is locked/protected or open/non-protected. After you successfully join an available wi-fi network, the iPhone will automatically join that network when returning within range of the network if wi-fi access is on.

You likely first configured the AirPort Express to "extend a wireless network" using wireless only, correct?
If yes, you cannot then connect the AirPort Express using Ethernet....that will crash your network.
The Express must be configured to "create a wireless network". AirPort Utility will do this for you automatically, but you will first need to perform a Factory Default Reset or Hard Reset on the AirPort Express and then start over with the configuration again.
Connect the Ethernet cable to the Express before you open AirPort Utility. Post back if you need more tips on how to set this up.

IPod Touch WiFi - Costs

Hello! I have an iPod touch and I was wondering if there were any costs on top of paying for the actual applications itself. For example do you pay for using WiFi when checking e-mail? When using applications such as AIM that connect to WiFi?
To sum it up, do you get charges on your Apple Account for using WiFi on your iPod touch?

There are no charges for WiFi as such, unlike cellphone network subscription charges for instance. You will not get charges on your Apple account.
WiFi access in certain public places may need to be paid for but you would be fully aware of the costs involved before you used it and is implemented in various ways.
A lot of public WiFi is free, at certain restaurants and libraries for example.
WiFi access at home will simply be using you own internet connection via a wireless router, obviously the range is limited to your home area.

WIFI question on Droid X

Does anyone know if the Droid X is Wifi capable or is it enabled. I was told that Wifi costs extra but I was able to connect to my LAN via the phone at home.

Connecting the phone to your home (or any other) network via wifi is fine, as long as the network is the source of your connection.
The service that costs extra is using the phone itself as a wifi hotspot that uses Verizon's 3G as the connection. Using your phone's service to get internet access on another device is called "tethering." (The term originated when you had to connect, or tether, your phone physically to the device via a cable.)

Shipping cost at order level

Hi all!
I have a problem regarding shipment cost in order.
I know that i can have shipment info in order, with path EXTRAS -- > SHIPMENT COST INFORMATION. (and that's ok).
But if i want insert the result of this simulation in PRICING PROCEDUREat the order level,
its going to log and if i open LOG.
its saying no delivery is created so there is no shipping document.

Dear Alba,
This is only simulation of the shipment cost to choose the better shippiment type(better shipment service at low cost).
Shipment cost no need not enter in the sales order price.
This will again get calculate when you create shipment cost document (VI01) with reference to the shipment document.
The shipment cost will calculate based on the pricing settings under Shipment cost.

Shipment cost information in Quotation

Hi all!
If i try to do shipmento cost infomation at Order level, it's all ok...
But if I try to do this (with path EXTRAS - SHIPMENT COST INFO) at Quotation level, i have a problem..
The system doesn't calculate the Shipment cost, and LOG informs me that no deliveries are created..
So, can i do shipment info at quotation level?
If yes, what can i have to mantaint to do it possible?

you have to assign the Shipping Cost Info Profile to your Quotation. (T.code VOV8).

do certain services cost extra (such as google maps) for every time you use them? do any of them?

I hope ur doing MTO Scenario.
for this u need not do standard cost estimate.
during sales order creation VA01 > extras tab > Costing. u can do costing for each customer aganist each sales order.
not for each product.
for do it u need to maintin some of the settings .Check Requirements Classes .
if u maintain Costing ID B Automatic costing and marking.
in requirement tab if u maintain these settings when ever u save sales order it calcutes sales order cost estimate and released automitically.

BT Infinity - no cost upgrade - or is it?

I saw with great interest the announcement from BT recently that if you signed up to a Calls+Broadband Package, you could upgrade to BT Infinity at no extra monthly cost when Infinity became available in your area. As that's Jan 11 in my case, worth a go, I thougt.
I duly placed an order with BT, having had a discussion with the Online Chat team. The next day, I had a mail from Customers Services telling me that as I had voice with another CP and BB with BT, the order was "a bit too complicated" for them to deal with. Could I ring the Orders line?
I did so, to be told that "No; any upgrade to Infinity would require you to pay the additional monthly charge". I've left the order stand as I think that I can have the further discussion once I have both call + BB from BT.
I am a bit confused thoug; was it a genuine offer or not? Has anyone taken advantage of the "offer" and had it confirmed?

I sent you another email about this today - once your line order closes I'll be able to get you onto that deal, so what when Infinity becomes available you'll be able to change to it and keep it at the same price.

Wifi on time capsule

HELP.
I had:
cable modem.......... time capsule ........(long wire) ............ switch .......... wifi one way (linksys set-up)......imac the other
Upgradeed iMac and decided to go from 1 to 4th generation Time capsule (TC).
Because i though the new TC would be more powerful and that my other wifi would not be needed i took all that apart and just connected the TC to create its own network........ BIG MISTAKE.
It would not connect to the internet. If i took the modem cable out and just connected to the imac, instant internet. Plug it back.... nothing.
Tried the same with the old TCF..... nothing.
Tried plugging both (at separate times) back where it was next to the cable modem...... nothing.
All this done via Apple support from Singapore, Tasmania, Brisbane and Manilla. No luck.
Got up this morning and decided to connect back the way it was before with the linksys wifi (but no TC). Perfect wifi.
Funny thing is that I can get wifi from this setup to my iPad, iMac but not to my iPhone. It sees the network but it will not connect. The little whirly thing just keep rotating but will not connect.
I have apple ringing me back at 3.00 pm today but wonder if anyone has any suggestions.
I am at the stage of just wanting my TC to work with backups at the least. The extra wifi would have been great but there seems top be a problem.
Any suggestions. I am very very frustrated at the moment.

Any chance someone was using the microwave oven in the kitchen? Microwaves are a prime source of WiFi interference in most households along with cordless phones.
Is there any way that the TC could be positioned away from the kitchen area?
Assuming the microwave is not the cause of the difficulties, can you temporarily connect an ethernet cable from your Mac to one of the LAN ports on the TC? You could try this wireless, but may not be able to connect.
Download iStumbler, www.istumbler.net and open the program to get a look at the signal strength and noise on your wireless network. The program will also display other wireless networks in your area which may be interfering with your network.
Not all networks will be displayed as most modern routers allow users the feature of "hiding" their networks so they cannot be seen. So, it's very possible that another network that you cannot identify may be interfering with your wireless.
Specifically, look for other networks that may be using the same channel or a close adjacent channel as your wireless. If you find this to be the case, proceed as follows:
Open Airport Utility and click on Manual Setup. Click the Wireless tab below the icons to display. Look for your Channel setting and change it to a value that is as far away as possible from other networks. Channels 1-11 are available on most wireless networks, so if you are in a dense area, it may be difficult to find the best settings.

Adobe licence costs

I have 2 questions about the licences costs of Adobe forms in SAP.
The first question:
Do you have to pay the licence costs for adobe interactive forms only one time?
Or is it once a year, month or do you have to pay licence cost after processing xxx forms?
And the second question:
What are interactive forms under the conditions of SAP?
I have read in the documentation that if the form is not editable, none extra licence cost have to be paid.
But are interactive forms, forms which are only changeable for an user? Such as a textfield, combobox or other GUI elements?
Of are interactive forms also forms which are changed by a developer? i.e. a user has changed default SAP forms, or a user has created it's own custom forms.
So, if i made a custom adobe form in SAP and i use it only for printing purposes. And if the form is used in a productive enviroment, are those interactive forms? Which an extra ADOBE licence is required? And should be paid for?
Of can i use this custom made form in the productive enviroment without an extra ADOBE licence?

Here is what I know:
- Licence is needed only for Interactive forms, meaning forms in which user can enter data.
- There is no licence needed for printable-only forms, either using a SAP provided form, custom one or modify a SAP provided form.
- Licence apply for a productive environment and I believe is per user per interactive form.
Check OSS Notes with "Adobe Credentials".
Best you can do is talk to you SAP Account representative to find out more.

Pl. tell me how to assign shioment cost profile to sales order type
so that we can explore extra -shipment cost menu option

Ok,
In SPRO go to LE- Transportation- shipment cost- Define profiles for shipment cost info.
Create a shipment cost info profile by entering the TPP, Shipment type and Pricing procedure of shipment cost.
Assign this profile in sales order type.under shipping tab "shipment cost info profile".
Make sure that all the transportation config and masters are maintained.
this should suffice.

Quotation - shipping cost determination

Hi Frds,
while creating a Quotation, we want to know Shipper Qty (No of boxes) on each pallet to arrive at exact freight cost from the forwarders.
I checked in the Quotation , packing product proposal is grayed out.
is there any way by which we can arrive at shipper cost while creating a quotation because frieght cost is depandant on no of boxes.
can we the requirement can be fillfilled by shipping cost information (Extra - shipping cost information in QT) ? If yes How ? can u tell me required configuration too?

You can get the shipping cost information at sales order level but I don't think you will get at quotation level.

Creative Cloud - Future costs

I'm in the middle of writing a proposal to get my software updated from CS5.5 to CC and just wanted to clarify a few things as I'm having to rush this through.
1) is there a known shelf life for CC yet?
My understanding is that with the continual license system, it should cover major future updates. However knowing Adobes history I'm a little worried that in the very near future there maybe something like CC2 which includes an extra major cost.
2) Is the software stable?
I'm reading a lot of things about people having to keep uninstalling. Updates and anything that requires admin rights has to be done through our IT team here as they do not give us the rights, so if there is any particular cause of this, I probably need to let them know.

Creative Cloud is Creative Cloud. As long as you are subscribed you get each and every version. That's the whole point. Whether or not this may entail extra costs to get access to specific new "bonus" features like more storage space on the cloud or specific services is written in the stars, but of course you can expect that prices will be corrected for inflation and other factors over time, so the second year may cost a tad more than the first year. The rest is irrelevant. All software on this planet has bugs and compatibility issues. Yes, the installers are a pain in the rear parts, but from roaming these forums every day in my experience a majority install issues come down to people generally keeping their computers in bad shape, not reading the necessary paperwork like system requirements and not having the slightest clue how computers actually work and running into all sorts of security, permissions, user privileges and network issues. Beyond that people also never stop for a minute to think. Do they actually need an update that adds a feature that they'll never use? Does updating break existing workflows? Is my system compatible? It's that sort of thing that causes mayhem. Nobody is forced to make each and every upgrade and half of the problems could be avoided if users actually used their brain instead of peeing their pants every time someone demos a half-baked new Photoshop feature... C'est la vie, chéri!
