Regards,
ivinHi Ivin,
First, you will need to use double backslashes in your file path; \ is an escape character so for literal strings you have to double them up.
String str ="C:\\Documents and Settings\\abc\\Desktop\\file_Aug_2007.xls";For the next part, you don't need anything terribly fancy; the backslashes in your file should be plenty to find the filename.
From the String class, use the substring(int beginIndex, int endIndex), lastIndexOf(String str), and length():
String sub;
sub = str.substring(str.lastIndexOf("\\") + 1, str.length()); I hope that helps.

    Olaf:
    Thanks for your reply. Sorry, my bad. I inadvertently copied wrong [name] form the msdb.dbo.backupset. On 3/13 and 3/14, the two file names did not match. In trying to select another example to show you this morning, I found that the names are now matching!
    What I was doing was to create dynamic t-sql to retrieve the latest prod backup of the database, and then restore it with move to the development server. This is an ad-hoc job that the developers can run by themselves whenever they require a refresh. Unfortunately,
    we only keep 3 days worth of backups for these databases, so the original disk file I was trying to use to restore no longer exists. Researching the original error, one of the error descriptions was that the restore could not find the file requested.
    I thought this very strange since I get the file name directly from the backupset table. Further research did indeed show that the file names were different, but unfortunately, I failed to save the details of the file names. Anyway, in looking for a new example
    to show you this morning, I have found that the file names are indeed matching exactly again. If this error pops up again, I will be sure to save all details and re-post.
    Thanks, regards and best wishes to you and yours,

  • How to retrieve various file names from a filepath of application server

    Hi All,
    I am using a FILEPATH  of application server which can have multiple file names i want to retrieve data from all the existing files.

  • Get a font's file name from the font's postscript name (on Windows)

    I am trying to obtain the the font file name when the only information I have is the font's 'postscript' name. (Emphasis: the font's name is postscript and not the font).
    For example I have the following postscript name: TimesNewRomanPSMT.
    The real name that is saved in the registry is: Times New Roman (TrueType).
    Is there any way of obtaining that name from the given postscript name?
    Currently I am coding this for Windows, but it should be compatible, or at least have alternative code for MacOS

    Funny. I'm having the same problem and was about to post the exact same question
    In Photoshop, there is "app.fonts", which lets you get a font's postscript name from the font's name. This doesn't exist in After Effects.
    My only hope is that there's a way to get a font's postscript name in Visual Basic. I'll let you know if I find anything useful.

    This is a Mail to File scenario without design part where the attachment file name comes in the subject of the mail.
    I see the below in the dynamicconfiguration section. How can i retrive the value from dynamicconfiguration section to the filename.

    Try to use sthg like this in a UDF :
    DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container.getTransformationParameters().getStreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create(“http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Mail”,“SHeaderSUBJECT”);
    String value = conf.get(key);
    or in a JAVA mapping :
    DynamicConfiguration dynConf = (DynamicConfiguration) param.get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey dynKey = DynamicConfigurationKey.create((“http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Mail”,“SHeaderSUBJECT”);
    String keyValue = dynConf.get(dynKey);
    param is the map object from the execute() method of your mapping ...
    Hope this helps

  • Locating source file NAME from the executable file?

    Hi all,
    I wrote a vi a couple of year ago (call it file.vi), and created an executable out of it using the Application Builder (call it newfile.exe). I know I renamed the file
    when I created the executable and now I cannot remember what I called the source file (I have hundreds in my PC, and cannot go through them one by one).
    Is there anyway I can get the name of the original file from the executable? Notice that I am not asking to recreate the source file from the executable, which I understand is not possible.

    Dennis,
    I must come clean and admit that I don't really know what source control is. Is it a back up of source codes in one place like a server? I am not a programmer but use some LabVIEW to
    automate a few simple tasks (mostly related to test data). I work solo in this area and there's not a group of people working on different pieces of the same project.
    I can Google and learn what source control is. I am assuming that the concept itself is not specific to LabVIEW, unless LabVIEW has build-in funtionality for source control
    It is more like a database of files.  It keeps versions on each file so that you can revert back to a previous version if needed.  If working in a team environment, it helps to merge code and keep everybody up to date with everybody else.  But the versioning is the most important part.  I then recommend keeping the repository on a server that is regularly backed up.
    For a simple SCC software, take a look at Tortoise SVN.

  • Individual report path with defined file name from the report settings in Testsand 2012

    Hi,
    I have following task:
    I want to test stand 2012 in each sequence to change the path of the report file. But the naming of the file is to be maintained as these settings can be made from TestStand into the report (DisplayName + _Report_ [<FileDate>] [<FileTime>] <unique>. <File Extension). I can not find now, however, the / callback parameter on which the components are assembled path and file in TestStand.
    While I can read about the callback "GetReportFilePath" the path and file name, and with the expression: Parameters.ReportFilePath = "c: \ \ electro \ \ SHARE \ \ test protocols \ \ Test Logs \ \" change the path, but the file name will no longer be formed from the settings of TestStand.
    I have the suspicion that I'm just not accreting at the right place. Can someone please give me a hint?

  • Hello, bought a used Mac and I'd like to change the home file name from the previous owner having someone elses name on the home icon is driving me nuts thanks!

    Hello - new to mac -  bought a used Mac OS X 10.6.8 - I'm set up as admin yet can't seem to remove or edit the home file (john's computer with the home icon).  Anyone know how to do this?
    Message was edited by: macmom7

    Before following these steps, you may wish to back up your important data.
    For Mac OS X v10.5 or later
    Enable the root user.
    Log in as root.
    Navigate to the /Users folder.
    Select the Home folder with the short name you want to change, and rename it just like you would rename any folder. Keep in mind that the shortname must be all lowercase, with no spaces, and only contain letters.
    Use the Users & Groups pane (Accounts pane in Mac OS X v10.6.8 or earlier) in System Preferences to create a new user with the Account name or Short Name that you used in the previous step.
    Click OK when "A folder in the Users folder already has the name 'account name'. Would you like to use that folder as the Home folder for this user account?" appears. Note: This will correct the ownership of all files in the Home folder, and avoid permissions issues with the contents.
    Choose Log Out from the Apple menu.
    Log in as the newly created user. You should be able to access all of your original files (on the desktop, in Documents, and in the other folders of this Home).
    After verifying that your data is as expected, you can delete the original user account via the Users & Groups pane (Accounts pane in Mac OS X v10.6.8 or earlier).
    Disable the root user

  • How to fetch the Date column(or Month column) from the file name from the specified path in ODI 11g

    Hi ALL,
    Can any one help us regarding How to fecth the Date column(or month column) from the file name specified in the path in a generalized way .
    For example :
    file name is :subscribers (Cost) Sep13.csv is specified in the below path
      E:\Accounting\documents\subscribers (Cost) Sep13.csv
    here I need to fetch the "Sep13" as a Date column in the ODI 11g in the generalized way.
    Can any one help us in this case as early as possible.

    I would suggest using a piece of Jython code for this.  Something like this...
    import os
    import os.path
    filelist  = os.listdir(E:\Accounting\documents\)
    for file in filelist:
    datestr = file[19:-4]
    You'd need to work out what to do with datestr next...  perhaps write it to a table or update an ODI variable with it.
    Hope this is of some help.

    does the time stamp with the ":" a part of your output file?
    else use a replaceAll function in your mapping and replace the : with empty string then use the value in the variable substitution
    Another option is use the normal BPM for 1: N message flow. The use a simple java mapping that will introduce a dynamic configuration and you can create the file name as you want. the java mapping will be used in the flow of messages from BPM to target system.
