Extract Assets with Custom Sizes?

I have a 1920x1080 PSD with many layers (close to a 100) of emeded assets that I need to extract at 66.67% (scaling down to a standard 1280x720).
Is there a way to add a custom size on export? (all is offered is the 0.25x, 0.33x, 0.5, etc...)
In addition! Is there a way to add JPEG (quality 75%) AND PNG (with Transparency) all in the export? Right now it requires to add those setting to export file individually. Seems to defeat the whole purpose. No?
Am I missing a settings window somewhere?
This is a HUGE time saver IF we can add custom settings.
Thanks for any insight, or work arounds (maybe with Actions?)

Thanks for the quick reply.
Looks good! Digging around, but do you know if that will work with the latest and greatest CC?
Actually it might fall more in the "generate web feature" category? This is not for web, but the same idea.
I have a 1920x1080 that has many different sized embeded assets (some are 250x250, 1920x100, etc...) that make up the whole of 1920x1080. Each one of these indivigule assets needs to be exported to there specific size and/or "slice" in relation to the 1920x1080, that in the end gets reassembled to make up a 1920x1080 and also at 66.67% for 1280x720.
I need to be able to update these elements and have a simple export option. Right now it's one at a time at 2 sizes and mixture of JPEG and PNG.
Maybe creating and then exporting slices is the way to go? Was thinking Export Assets was going to easier, but seems to have too many limitations to make sense to me.
thoughts?

  • Extract Assets with transparent spacing?

The extract assets feature has grown on me, but I'm struggling to find a way to export graphics with transparent spacing.
For instance, I have a graphic that needs to be a 100x100px PNG but the actual artwork only takes up 80x80px with the rest of the transparent pixels acting as spacing. The extract asset setting automatically crops the PNG to 80x80 when saving, ignoring the transparent space that I do actually need.
Been struggling with finding a way to set transparency to export, seems like I'm missing something simple. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Ran into the same issue myself earlier today.  Here's a fix/workaround/solution that seems to give the ability to add transparent spacing around slices.
If you select the layer you want to add the spacing to, then draw a marquee selection around it at the final size you want then click "Add Layer Mask" it should export the asset at the size of you selection.
    Hope this helps.

  • Trouble with custom sizes

I just got an Epson 3800 and am trying to set up a custom size. I have used Aperture for several years and never used this function (used Photoshop instead). The problem is in the printing. I entered my custom size, everything looked right in the thumbnail on the print page but it doesn't print properly. Twice the photo paper came through with nothing on it (even thought the printer said "Printing") and now most recently only a portion of the picture is printed in one corner.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks, John

It could be an orientation issue - in other words the length vs. width is screwed up. Maybe not - I have gone through some serious pain getting all of my software working correctly with 4880 printers in the past.

  • Montly depreciation simulation does not run for asset with custom depr keys

    Hello!
Some assets in report S_ALR_87012936 display annual depreciation simulation even if only a period of the year is selected. For those assets a custom depreciation keys is defined. Is that a problem?
Could I found a way to simulate depreciation for a part of the year for those assets yet?

  • Printing Problem with custom size paper in Illustrator

Hi having problems with my custom sized paper print using my canon printers it's the same on both the ip100 and the pro-100s,  it was printing fine until i've updated my illustrator and mac os Yosemite, it prints the image at a reduced size on the paper to what it should be does anyone have any understanding of this? I've tried everything i know, is this a driver or system problem?

Hi there wasn't an option to set the default printer to pdf where would I do this?
I've done a bit of a work around that seems to be working. I've put the page set up as A4 and then clicked on the printer utility custom settings and then unticked detect paper width, so I can put through the paper I want just got to tweak the x and y to get it right, its not the best but sitting here for four hours trying to figure it out, it will have to do for now. Thanks Jacob for your help, no doubt I'll be back in the morning, I'm burnt out now!

  • Pixel dimensions not rendering correctly with Extract Assets?

Was really excited to hear about extract assets and have been trying to set up a new workflow but am having some difficulty. My PSD is set up ay 2x size, so I need to create 1x-sized assets. My 1x-sized assets are rendering with a 1px white line around them and I can't figure out why this is happening? I have tried both with the .5x button selected and also speccing the required pixel dims in the layer name, and both produce the same result.
In my layer name I have: [email protected]%, 498x440 filename.jpg-85%
The resulting asset is 500x442px and has a 1px white line around it
    What am I doing wrong?

  • Problem with custom paper size on dot matrix printer

    Hi All,
I'm using CR2008 with updated to SP2. I have a problem with custom paper size (W=21; H=14), the CR Viewer show report with custom paper size correctly but when I print it to a dot matrix printer (Epson LQ 300+) the content was rotated to landscape. If print to a laser printer the content was printed correctly. My report was printed correctly by CR10 or previous versions I got this issue when upgraded to CR2008. I aslo tested my computer and printer with orther application like MS Word the printing have no problem with custom paper size.
Thanks for any advice for me.
    Han

Looking at the Epson LQ 300+ driver, I see that the latest update is from 2002. In my experience, most matrix printer drivers are not unicode. Crystal Reports is designed to only work with unicode printer drivers. See the [How Printer Driver Options Affect a Report|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/a09051e9-721e-2b10-11b6-f9c65c64ef29&overridelayout=true] article, page 6 for details. Also, see [this|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_dev/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes.do] note.
Finally, see if you can print from the CR designer to this printer and if you get the correct results here.

  • Anyone having issues with custom paper sizes?

I've narrowed down my printing problems to be primarily when using custom paper sizes. I still get regular crashes with standard sizes, but cannot print at all if I set up a custom size in A3. I am able to print custom sizes in Lightroom so it must be related to Aperture. I much prefer the way my prints look from Aperture, don't know why but when I export jpg or tiff files from A3 and import into LR the prints are very dull and color is off.
    Anyone?

I have exact same issue after in my Iphone 4s. This started after upgrading to IOS 6.0.1
    Has anybody got a solution?

  • Help with custom page size support for non standard paper

Firstly, we appreciate any support you may be able to provide, we have already thrown considerable effort at this and it has been very time consuming and frustrating.
To support a number of business functions need to print to (non standard) continuous and mulitpart paper on a dot matrix printer. The (test) Mac is a 10.4.11 G4 laptop, the printer is an Oki Microline 520 (9 pin 80 column, IBM Proprinter, Microline or Epson FX personalities with a parallel interface) which has been networked via a HP JetDirext Ex Plus print server. That part appears to be operating correctly.
We have tried a number of drivers / printer personalities with varying levels of success:
ESP / EPSON 9-Pin Series CUPS v1.1 / Epson FX personality
ESP / OKIDATA 9-Pin Series CUPS v1.1 / Oki Microline personality
Ghostscript / epsonc / Epson Dot Matrix Foomatic PPD / Epson FX personality
Ghostscript / ibmpro / IBM ProPrinterII Foomatic PPD / IBM Proprinter personality
Ghostscript / okiibm / Oki Microline IBM compatible 9 pin Foomatic PPD / IBM Proprinter personality
There were no appropriate drivers in Gutenprint (5.2.3 version) The most successful is the okiibm / Oki Microline IBM compatible 9 pin settings, it can print A4 and honors the Printer Features Resolution settings in the print dialogue.
Q1: Should we see anything in the Printer Info / Installable Option, it is always blank ?
The issue is custom page sizes, we can manage / add Custom Pages Sizes via the Page Setup / Paper Size interface and they draw on the screen OK but they do not work at the printer (various issue at the printer such error messages, junk printing and wrong orientation):
Q2: Are we heading in the right direction or is there a better way to handle this ?
Q3: Would 10.5 solve all our problems, are the print drivers any better ?
Q4: Is this the correct way to specify custom page sizes, is this all we need to do ?
Q5: Is so how do we get the driver to respect the size, do we need another filter or something ?
Q6: Is it possible to add (by hand) custom page sizes to the ESP drivers or Foomatic PPD files so they they appear as a "standard" offering in the Page Setup / Paper Size interface ?
Sorry for the long / complicated post and thanks in advance for any advice / assistance.

Testing on 10.5.7, Tried both Oki 9-Pin Series 1.3 / Microline personality (no joy) and Epson 9-Pin Series 1.3 (this is a much better driver than 1.1) / Epson FX personality but not much joy with custom page sizes,
The Oki 9-pin Series 1.3 and the Epson 9-Pin Series 1.3 should produce the same results. The only difference in the PPDs is the printer model name.
After some testing, I find that the output is not the same despite the two PPDs being virtually identical. I did spot in the CUPS source code for the rastertoepson filter that there is some model name matching for Epson printers. Thus I can see where the output using the Oki 9-pin PPD could be different than when using the Epson 9-pin PPD.
but again once I imbedded the page size into the ppd some (but frustrating) luck. I can get it to respect the paper orientation and it prints well but I could not get the form length to work properly. At best over a print run of 7 labels it would creep up the label by about 0.1 inches / 2 mm.
Just for the fun of it, I made some additions to the Epson 9-pin 1.3 PPD. All I can say is that I could print a job to file. I have no way to know what it would look like on paper.
I did find that using a custom paper size did add some unwanted margins to the output bounding box. Putting the custom page size into the PPD seemed to get around that issue.
I added the following lines to the Epson 9-pin PPD 1.3--
    <pre style="overflow: auto;font-size:small; font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; color: #222; background: #ddd; padding: .3em .8em .3em .8em; font-size: 9px;">*PageSize Label1/Label1: "<</PageSize[288 107.8]/ImagingBBox null>>setpagedevice"
    *PageRegion Label1/Label1: "<<PageSize[288 107.8]/ImagingBBox null>>setpagedevice"
    *ImageableArea Label1/Label1: "0 0 288.00 107.80"
    *PaperDimension Label1/Label1: "288.00 107.80"</pre>
This adds a paper size with the 4 inch (288pt) width and 1.5 inch (107.8pt) height. That represents the 1.4 inch label and the 0.1 inch gap between labels. I set 0pt margins except for the bottom where is set the 0.1 inch (7pt) gap as the bottom margin.
The full diff in context is--
    <pre style="overflow: auto;font-size:small; font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; color: #222; background: #ddd; padding: .3em .8em .3em .8em; font-size: 9px;">loki:~ matt$ diff -u /usr/share/cups/model/epson9.ppd ~/Desktop/epson9.ppd

  • Dimension size in LR4 with custom ratio

    Good day,
I am still stuck with dimension size in LR4. If I would like to crop a picture to a certain dimension.
I need to have my pictures cropped to 4600 x 3000 - so what I am doing is I enter the dimension in custom ratio, then in export I choose image file and enter 4600 x 3000 in dimension size. and then - my picture turns out with 4600 x 2990?
    what am I doing wrong?
I have managed to get the right size before but for the love of god I can just not remember what I did different then...
any help will be very much appreciated.
    thanks
    Sandy

My LR 4.4.1 image was 3872 x 2592 uncropped, and 3872 x 2525 after applying the 4.6 : 3 aspect ratio. This makes no sense unless you're using LR4.4.0 and something changed in LR 4.4.1.
    richardplondon wrote:
I'm still not sure about the rounding issues Richard mentions, what if anything has changed, and in what version. We also haven't been able to duplicate the OP's results (4600 x 2990). Perhaps the OP could post an image file to a download site that produces the 3872 x 2592 output and we can test it.
The truncating of an aspect ratio to 2 places, would fit with this number - and I can't think of any other mechanism that does so.
With the same image above in 5.2RC, if you enter 1 and 0.65 into the custom boxes, then LR displays the resulting aspect ration as "1.538 x 1" and the resulting crop is 3204 x 4928 instead of 3214 x 4928. The resulting export when requesting 3000x4600, is 2991x4600 (we clearly still have some imprecision about that final pixel, and probably always will).
The displayed crop value is to 3 decimal places with entry values ranging from 10000 to 0.001 allowed. Precision should be at least to the displayed values or why bother displaying them, correct?
If I use the same example with LR4.4.1 with a crop value of 1 x 0.65 I get 1.538 x 1 same as yours. Now let's try a few other examples with LR4.4.1:
    1538.90 x 1000 = 15.389 x 10
    1538.49 x 1000 = 15.385 x 10
    1538.44 x 1000 = 15.385 x 10 (INCORRECT)
Next I entered five (5) new custom ratios, which is the only way to clear out the custom 15.385 x10 crop ratio. Next I tried entering the same custom crop value again:
    1538.44 x 1000 = 15.384 x 10 (Now CORRECT)
So clearly the calculated precision is to three decimal places. The problem is that the replacement algorithm is only using two decimal places. If the new ratio has the same value as an exisitng custom ratio to two decimal places. then it uses that value and does not create a new custom ratio with the correct value.
    ...and that answers this question:
    richardplondon wrote:
I don't know whether it is possible to clear previously entered custom aspect ratios, other than by sledgehammer methods, but the way that prior entries do reappear, indicates to me some kind of background behavior going on. This may be confusng the troubleshooting of the issue, since different people will have different histories of earlier custom ratios, present in their computers.
No matter how you slice-it or dice-it this is a bug in the algorithm used for calculating the custom crop!
It looks like there is a similar problem in LR5 with the Export module Image Sizing algorithm:

  • Custom size photos with iPhoto 6?

    Hi,
I'm trying to print a photo in passport size (which is 2x2, I believe). I found directions for doing this with iPhoto 08, but not iPhoto 6 (which is what I have). Can this be done with the older version of iPhoto?
    Thanks,
    Hania

    Hania:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. No, there's no custom size option in iPhoto 6. You'll need to use a 3rd party application to print a custom size.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Trouble with ipa size after changing assets

Experiencing some really really odd issues with file size.
Cooked a development version of our app yesterday, and the IPA file came out to 596Mb. We deemed this WAY too big to be useful, so we took every image and downsized it to 72 DPI at the exact pixel dimensions and compressed with jpg as small as we could get them.
Next build of the app today, and the IPA file comes out to 822Mb...
    how is this even possible!?
We reduced the file size of all our assets by almost 90% and the file size of the app INCREASES!?
    [edited]
Anyone have any insight on why DPS seems to be defying all logic?

Thanks very much Neil. Much appreciated.
I am unfortunately out of the office for the night, so I can't get access to the files or DPS, but I will share the folio first thing in the AM.
In the meantime though my team and I started doing some testing, as we were really concerned that the imagery in our app was what was causing the issues.
As I mentioned earlier, we had swapped much of the imagery in our app for .jpgs that are rendered at the correct pixel dimensions they appear at in the app.
We tried quickly swapping out a few of the higher res, and larger file size images for these smaller, compressed .jpgs After running the folio through DPS it seemed to impact file size very little (only dropped the file size a couple of hundred kb) - I am guessing this is due to what you were saying about DPS automatically resizing most images to 108ppi etc.
Dropping to a single orientation definitely had a major impact on the file size. (822Mb for dual vs. 540Mb for single)
Unfortunately the dual orientation is something we have been locked in to by our client.
for this particular app the client is very picky about the image quality and they have made it a requirement that the app support retina display.
Our initial tests running a 1024x768 file and upscaling on the newer iPad didn't have the best results, as the image compression and upscaling left our pixel imagery looking less than optimal.
I finally managed to find this: http://blogs.adobe.com/digitalpublishing/files/2012/03/DPS_iPad3_bestpractice.pdf
This PDF has a  section on file size, and describes using a 1024x768 with images at 144ppi folio for both retina and non-retina display
Would starting with a 1024x768 file and then building a retina folio with those files drop our file size?? or would DPS scale the images up for retina and then result in a similar file size?

  • Problems with custom paper sizes in Lightroom

Running Mac OS-X 10.9.3 (Mavericks). using an Epson Stylus Pro 3880, latest driver installed as confirmed by Epson tech support this morning. using Lightroom 5.4.
I only see this problem in Lightroom -  not in Photoshop - which leads me to conclude that the problem is not an Epson-driver problem.
    The problem is the following:
In the Print Module, I click on 'page Setup' bottom left. I define my custom paper size under 'Paper Size' -> 'Manage Custom Sizes'. Click OK.
I then enter 'Print Settings...' bottom left adjacent to the 'Page Setup' button. Select my printer, click on the 'Layout' drop-down list box button and select the 3rd tab in the list: 'Paper Handling'. Here is the problem: the 'Destination Paper Size' option is grayed out and unelectable, and incorrectly shows 'US Letter', which cannot be changed. If I click on 'Scale to fit paper size', and try to make a print to my custom paper that way, it still does not work: it only prints on a fraction of the whole paper.
I have also tried Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Printers & Scanners to change the default paper size there, but it makes no difference - it still incorrectly shows as 'US Letter' in Lightroom.
This problem does not occur in Photoshop: In Photoshop, if you go to File -> Print in the menu, and then hit the 'Print Settings' button near the top, my custom paper size is selectable in the 'Paper Size' list box. So it is a problem which is specific to Lightroom.
Any help appreciated. I have spent most of the day on the phone to Epson and Adobe Tech Support, and no-one has been able to dove the problem
    Thanks,

I have had the same problem, and with the same result; Adobe Tech Support can't help or fix, after 15 hours on phone, Level 2 support. It is a software bug Adobe has, and can't seem to fix.  I just upgraded to Lightroom CC, and my problem migrated with the upgrade.  I print in Photoshop fine.
If you found an answer, I would appreciate  knowing how to do it!
    Thanks

  • Print with paper size custom?

Hi, how to print width paper size defined by me?, actually printjob class have the selectpapersize method  with differents sizes(a4, a3, a5, letter, etc), but i need have a paper size custom,  example 500x450

Unfortunately, there isn't a customer print size api at this time.  However, there are two things I'd recommend.  First, I'd like to encourage you to cast your vote for the the existing feature requests on our ideas.adobe.com site (here and here).
You might also want to take a look at this post, which describes how you might be able to work around this with a bit of trial and error.
