Extract external image in layers & Color path

Hi there!
I am new here, i am portuguese, i am 22 years old, and to finish my multimedia engeneering course i have choose a computer animation.
That computer animation is a join of a scenario made in sketchUp&Cinema4D and the animatio made in Reallusion iClone.
Well, to join the two different parts i have choosen AE software (actually is After Effects CC) and i have two questions that i cant find the answer:
1º: Well, as i said the animation and scenario are in a different project, and i have joined both in AE. But the scenario is not always just a landscape. Sometimes is a building that the actor walks on it, so i have (in some way) to put the actor "in" the building, and if i was working with images i would easly solve that problem: select and extract to another layer what i want to be in first place, or to be the landscape. At the same logic, how can i do this in After Effects CC?Can i extract some objects by color as i can do in Photoshop?
2º For storytelling reasons, i would like that , in some moment, everything turns gray , and the actor is colored. but there's more! i would like that the actor leaves a colored path (the path that he is taking in animation). Is there any way that i can do it?
If i cant do it, i have to re-build the entire animation in Cinema4D.
Thank you very much!
Peace

Hi
Well, i have another problem, that i can´t find soluction on the internet
For not being one month rendering the scenario form cinema4D i´ve choosen open it in the after effects with a plugin called "CINEWARE" that opens the cinema4D project inside the After Effects project.
As you recommended it, i am using roto brush tool.
Well, with a video, i can use that tool, but with cinema4D project i can´t!
Do you know why?
Do i have any sollution beside render all the scenario in cinema4D?
Thank you very much  (and sorry for the bad english)

  • Problems with animated masks and external images

    I have an instance of a movieClip on the stage and I load an external JPG into the movieClip.  The movieClip is masked by a layer that begins animating on a certain frame.  As soon as I reach that frame my externally loaded JPG disappears.  The movieClip doesn't mind being masked, but as soon as the mask animates the external image goes away.  The mask animation is shapes drawn frame by frame.
    It is interesting to note that if I create a Class and load the JPG into the movieClip (or do this in a constructor) I do not experience this problem - it is when the JPGs are loaded into an instance of the movieClip that lives on the stage that I encounter this. Unfortunately that is not an option in my project (since I have to get the path for the JPG from an xml file I am loading).
    Could someone please help me with this?

    that's a flash bug.

  • Access image size and color profile

    Hi all,
    Is it possible to access image size and color profile ? If not, will it be possible in CS6 ?
    Thanks.

    Load the external XMP library and get it from that?

  • Option missing to open images as layers in Photoshop.

    The option to edit in Photoshop CS4 from Lightroom 4 and return is just fine. However, the option to Open images as layers in Photoshop is grayed out as well as the option to open as Smart Object or Merge.

    These other options work differently than the simple "Edit in..".
    The method that does work for you, with CS4, is using Photoshop as a standard external editor by means of a "dumb" interaction. LR does all the work of converting the image into a bitmp and then saving it as a TIFF or PSD. It knows just enough about the other program, to tell the operating system to start the program executable and to pass it the file that has already been created. Then it keeps an eye on the file, watching for modifications saved to it by the other application.
    The only compatibility needed between the two programs is: that PS (or whatever) can understand a TIFF or a PSD made by LR; and in return, that PS (or whatever) can save a modified file which LR can display.
    The extended options you mention, rely on LR getting PS to get ACR to do all the work of conversion, and then in due course, for PS to take care of file creation too, and furthermore, to tell LR which file has been created where. This is partly because several conversions are involved rather than one; conversions made directly into Photoshop's memory space but not yet onto disk; which is ACR territory.
    In order for this more complex interaction to happen, LR needs to be talking to a fully-compatible PS and ACR partnership - which it knows will properly read all its adjustments, and include them in the bitmap information. At present, from LR4, that means either Photoshop CS6 with ACR 7.x - or else (as a special concession), Photoshop CS5 with ACR 6.7. Unless one of those two setups is detected, these forms of interaction are greyed out. Sorry

  • Use Web API url for loading an external image in a report

    Hi there,
    I am trying to host an image in a report, which is coming out of a Web API. I am able access the image through a URL in a browser:

    NOTE: the output of the Web API is an image of MIME type PNG.
    Thanks in advance!

  • External images are not displaying in RDLC report

    I need to add an external image in my RDLC report. My issue is the image has to come from an external site URL. I passed the URL using report parameter, but doesn't show any output. However, if I pass the URL directly in the RDLC report in the image control
    it displays the image. Since this doesn't make the report dynamic, I need to know how to make Image display in RDLC report using report parameter.

    Try below:
    http://www.codeproject.com/Questions/440205/Display-image-on-rdlc-report-viewer
    Dim paramList1 AsNew Generic.List(Of ReportParameter)
    paramList1.Add(New ReportParameter("Path", "+ /images/CPC.jpg")) Me.ReportViewer1.LocalReport.SetParameters(paramList1)
    http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/uploadfile/abylex/show-images-in-reports-at-run-time-using-reportviewer/
    If you do not have images in your Application. That is, you want to use an external image.
    a. Use an Image control on your RDLC file.
    b. Set the Image's Property-Source = External.
    c. Reserve a Report's DataSource Member for the image Path. For example-
    DataSource.ImgPath.
    d. Set the value for image path from the code in DataSource.ImgPath.
        For example:
    DataSource.ImgPath = "http://www.google.com/intl/en_ALL/images/logo.gif";
    e. The following self explanatory code also needs to be written:
        reportViewer1.LocalReport.EnableExternalImages = true;
    (reportViewer1
    is the Name for the   ReportViewer Control)
    f. Do the normal stuff to bind DataSource etc.
    g. Done. Enjoy your image in the Report.

  • I saw Corey Barker do a demo where he extracted an image from the background, then cleaned up the edge with a process that allowed him to de-fringe it.  I can't remember how he did it. And I can't find it.  Help!

    I saw Corey Barker do a demo a few weeks ago where he extracted an image from the background, then used a technique I was not familiar with to clean it up. You selected the area, then did something that involved going either to edit or select, then there was a dialog box that allowed you to dial it in, depending on the color background you were removing.  I can't find this anywhere. Can't remember.  It's driving me crazy!  If someone can help me find this, I would be very glad and grateful. Thanks!  Laura

    In technical support, sometimes you have to make educated guesses. I'm sorry that you were offended.
    iTunes does prompt when it is going to erase a device, and the message is clear.
    She said in her message that she was able to successfully sync the old ipad. This indicated to me that itunes wiping the data was not an issue, because either it had been setup at the apple store (in which case it doesn't actually wipe the ipad despite saying it will*) (*based on a single case I saw), or because the itunes media folder was migrated.
    Furthermore, my solution was to tell her how to backup her ipad (by either doing it manually, or as a last resort, by deleting the corrupt backup -- that she couldn't access anyway.)
    I got that last part of the instructions from the "Taking Control of your iphone" book which I found samples of when I did a google search for "corrupted backup itunes".
    She marked this as a solution, so it worked for her.

  • Extracting an image

    HELP! I am a new user and trying to learn this program (PS6). My problem is I cannot extract an image from the photo - I outline the person I want to separate with the Magic brush, can see the dotted line, but if I click or enter I get the message no pixels selected. I am stuck.

    Usually when this message appears it indicates that you have a blank layer active in the layers palette rather than the layer you think you have active. Make sure the layer you are trying to select from is the active layer (click on it) and try again.

  • Extracting an image from WebBrowser

    I want to extract an image from WebBrowser and I don't want to download it because some server don’t let download to non-browsers.
    Does method for this operation?

    First of all you need to get the image url. To retrieve this you can use Regex, or HTMLAgilityPack or etc.
    than you can download it from the url of the image as:
    public static void DownloadImageWithWebclient(string url)
    try
    string filename = System.IO.Path.GetFileName(new Uri(url).LocalPath);
    var _client = new WebClient();
    _client.DownloadFileAsync(new Uri(url), filename);
    catch
    There are many alternative ways of downloading such as non async.
    Also, you can set webclient headers and useragent to responde to the target website as a browser in order to avoid being blocked your request.

  • Extracting transparent image from canvas

    Hi Folks,
    Given an image painted on a graphics2D, I need to copy some parts of this image to be able to process them and repaint them in place, giving to the original image a different look.
    Theses parts are not rectangles but donuts like shapes (circular surface with a hole in he middle).
    The approach I tried in the following:
    - Combining 2 ellipses Shape to be able to create an Area representing the donut shaped surface
    - Clipping the Graphics2D this Area
    [at this point, if the panel is repainted with the clip set, the original image is only visible through the donut shape clip, which is exactly was I want]
    - creating a new image with transparency, painting the clipped original image onto this new image
    [that's where it does not work, if I paint the new image on the canvas, it's blank, or when I disabled transparency, it's a squared shape, and not a donut like shape]
    Any help/hint would be gladly appreciated, below in the paintComponent method
    Thanks
    Elie
    public synchronized void paintComponent(Graphics g) {
            g2d = (Graphics2D)g;
            if ( readyToDisplayImage == null ) {
                g2d.setColor(getBackground());
                g2d.fillRect(0, 0, getWidth(), getHeight());

       if(test) {

             g2d.setColor(getBackground());
             g2d.fillRect(0, 0, getWidth(), getHeight());
            g2d.setClip(a2) ;
            g2d.drawRenderedImage(readyToDisplayImage,AffineTransform.getTranslateInstance(tx, ty));
            Rectangle bounds = a2.getBounds();
            BufferedImage subimage = new BufferedImage(bounds.width, bounds.height, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_ARGB);

            // Clear image with transparent alpha by drawing a rectangle  - commented beacause worsens things
           // g2.setComposite(AlphaComposite.getInstance(AlphaComposite.CLEAR, 0.0f));
           // Rectangle2D.Double rect = new Rectangle2D.Double(0,0,bounds.width, bounds.height);
            //g2.fill(rect);
            g2.drawRenderedImage(readyToDisplayImage, AffineTransform.getTranslateInstance(bounds.x, bounds.y));
            g2.dispose();
            g2d.setClip(oldClip) ; //back to normal
         // Now checking whether the extracted sub image has the expected shape : this is not the case
             g2d.setColor(getBackground());
             g2d.fillRect(0, 0, getWidth(), getHeight());
             g2d.drawImage(subimage, bounds.x, bounds.y, this );
        }

    I found another way, which is using ROIShape class as mask.
    But an exception is raised by the last line of the method.
    Apparently the resulting image form and "add" between a oneband and a 3 band image is not supported.
    Also, if I do convert the one band image to color, it does not solve the problem
    ColorModel colorModel = cropped.getColorModel();
    pb = new ParameterBlock();
         pb.addSource(maskimage);
         pb.add(colorModel);
    maskimage = JAI.create("colorconvert", pb);
    What would be the right way to do this ?
    Thanks

    That PKGBUILD doesn't work, primarily because _svnmod is not set correctly.  The remaining problems are mostly down to not being in the $srcdir directory when checking out the ImageMagick source.  It's also good practice to copy the source and do the build in the copy.  That way, it will be possible to successfully update the source and rebuild the package at a later date.  Otherwise, the PKGBUILD certainly works with the following modifications but I've no idea whether the package is viable because I didn't try installing and testing it.
    _svntrunk=https://www.imagemagick.org/subversion/ImageMagick/trunk
    _svnmod=ImageMagick
    build() {
    cd ${srcdir}
    if [ -d $_svnmod/.svn ]; then
    cd $_svnmod

  • Extract an image from a larger image

    I snap an 24bit RGB color image size: 748 x 566 and I would like to remove the border and extract a smaller (still need color) image 10 pixels smaller from each side. result size ~ 728 x 546. How do I tell the extract VI or Resample VI to do this.
    Start from the left corner go in 10 pixel x direction and 10 pixels y direction...

    Your answer is correct, I'd like to have more speed.
    I have Vision toolkit, Sony DXC-390 PAL and PCI-1409.
    I use the BNC Connector(NOT the other connector).
    To Snap image:
    1. IMAQ Init, stillcolor Mode, channel 0, Color Repre
    2. IMAQ Create (RGB, border=2)
    3. To define my image size.
    I use the CIN from IMAQ rectToCoor.VI.
    (new image, x res=748; y res=566; output:image)
    4. call IMAQ Getpixel ptr (input:image, map pixel ptr,
    outputixel ptr out, linewidth)
    I assume this is a pointer in memory for snapping
    5. call low level ImgSnap area(in: image,sessionID,
    buffer= pixel ptr out,top, left, bottom, right,
    rowbytes = linewidth)
    'output assuming image is in memory area
    6. ColorimagetoArra
    y
    7. Flatten pixmap
    8. Draw flatten pixmap
    9. IMAQ write jpg file.
    Please comment on my step, I take about two seconds per image, that is slooow.

    I have no experience with this, but I was just poking around
    in the GD
    references and found a comment on imagefill() that might
    help:

  • Extract Embedded Images-did you know that-

    there is actually a feature in Illustrator to do this even though it is not called Extract Images?
    Not only that once you extract the image you can update it as well  you do not have to lace it again and reposition it.
    When I saw this and realize it was there I could not believe it as it has been asked so many times and there have been numerous work arounds.
    The reason I think it has passed everyone by is that it is not located in the links panel.
    So to the chase.
    Edit>Edit Image
    and then
    Edit>Update Image
    The former opens the embedded image in Photoshop
    edit it there and then save it
    then back in Illustrator go to the latter and it will be updated.
    Never noticed this before.
    The only draw back is that it seems to only work on one image at a time.
    I wonder how many users here knew about this little feature?

    Copy and paste doesn't retrieve the original image.
    Why not?
    You will have trouble getting the original resolution in case the image has been scaled in Illustrator.
    Yes you're right about that, and it is the best way if you have the original Illustrator file with the embedded image.
    In my defense, I'm mostly having to do this sort of thing with PDFs that are sent to me. Most cases I have to change something in the PDF or pull artwork out for another project we are working on. After opening the PDF in Illustrator, we then just copy the image and even paste it straight into an email (Mac) and request the original file. If the original is not to be had, we then paste the image into a new Photoshop file and relink it. If need be, we'll replace it with another image later.
    @rijackson --- you most surely can "Relink"... well that's what the button you choose in Illustrator is called... even if the image is embedded. This will place the image in the exact same place and size as the embedded image, thus "linking" it if you checked the Link box when placing.
    Also, you can always choose Link Information and see what transformations the image has went through regarding size and rotation. This is also with a native Illustrator file only. The information can be used to calculate what you need to do to the image to revert to it's original size and rotation. Rather unfortunate, because something intuitive like Freehand used to have, like changing the percentage and angle in the Appearance panel was far better and easier to revert images, embedded or linked.
    @rijackson --- considering all of the features and functions that Illustrator still does not have or are incomplete... yes, Illustrator as a whole is pathetic as the only pro vector alternative on the market. Not just this one omission, which is easily worked around. That's what I was trying to say to wazi9909.
    * I just thought it should be mentioned again, that Monika's correct answer only applies to a native Illustrator file if you have it, AND if you save with PDF Compatibility or as an Illustrator native PDF. With any and all other PDFs saved with a preset like for prepress... the images have been compressed, and will be as we call them "baked". No matter how you copy, paste, export or open, the resolution, size and quality is "finished".
