Extract Pages Action for PDFs

Has anyone used the Extract Odd/Even Pages action for PDFs? I'm trying to use it to extract pages from a PDF and save as separate files. When I use it the action spins for a moment, says it succeeded, but I don't get any new files.

I know of the java script method, just wondering why it can't be found as standard wizard tool ;-)
I have a java script to extract pages.
Is it possible to somehow create a droplet for it (as is possible with preflight profiles)?

How do I extract pages from a PDF?

I am trying to extract pages from a pdf document through Adobe XI and the command is not there through page thumbnails or through tools. What can I do? We have the current version which I verified through checking for updates.

"Adobe XI" does not exist.
There is Acrobat XI (Standard or Pro).
There is Adobe Reader XI.
Acrobat XI Pro (and maybe Standard) can extract pages from a PDF.
Adobe Reader XI cannot extract pages from a PDF.
Once either application is open it is easy to determine which you have open.
The "name" is in the top most "ribbon" of the application window.
From what you've written it appears that you are using Adobe Reader XI.

Extract pages in same PDF version as original document

That's it!
It is annoying to extract pages from a PDF 1.3 doc. and have the resulting files be in PDF 1.6.
It is also somewhat strange that the format is not even the native 1.7 format from Acrobat 8.1.1, which I'm using...
The most useful implementation would be to have a choice of output format with the original doc. format set as default.
I would also like a keyboard shorcut for the Extract feature, as requested in other posts...

Optimal application behaviour is subjective based on the user's needs.
My request stems from needing to split PDF documents into single-page documents without altering the format.
Adding a preference setting for the default behaviour would allow all users to have it their way: options to preserve format or save as specific format.
In addition, the save dialogue should contain an option to select the desired format, with the default being set from the preference setting.

To extract pages, you need to use Acrobat (not Adobe Reader). As I can attest (because I do have both Reader and Acrobat installed on the same computer), it is quite easy to open files in Reader when you mean to open then in Acrobat. So, please make sure you have the right app open. (I pull this one all the time!)
Now, if the Tools menu is missing from Acrobat, choose View > Show/Hide > Toolbar Items > Show Toolbars to make them reappear.

I have document which has 10 pages.Each page has page number on it...
There are 3 sections.First section is from 1st page to 4th page and second section is from 5th page - 8th page,second section has flowable content.For the second section we might get till 6th page or 7th page or 8th page.If we get till 8th page there will be no problem.If it ends at 7th page the page numbers sequence should be (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,9,10) But section 3 should start from 9th page.

Split or extract pages from a PDF form?

Once I convert my PDF into a form in LiveCycle Designer I am unable to then extract or split pages from the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Pro. Does anyone know if this is possible?

LiveCycle PDFs aren't really PDFs so there are a lot of things in Acrobat you can't do with them.

Photoshop CS5 - Batch actions for PDF multipage files

Good morning.
One of my customer bring me a pdf files composed by 147 pages.
Before I can print the whole file I had to remove a piece of the Header (common in every page at the same location) and a piece of the bottom left footer.
What I did:
- open a single page, create a new action -> select the area to be deleted, delete the content, select none, select the second area to be deleted, delete the area;
- saved the action as "MyActionWillSaveMeLOTofTime";
- File -> Automate -> Batch -> select folder with pdf file, select action and run
Surprise surprise, pdf is not a supported file for batch.
So I opened every single page (147!) with no-loss resolution (210x297mm @300dpi) (every file transformed into RASTER.... LOT OF TIME) than File->Automate->Batch->Action and Opened files as target.
This way it worked... but it takes like 2 hours to finish, and every file needed the OK confirmation to save the file.
After that I had to open Bridge CS5, select all saved files and put together again in a pdf.
Result:
- 2 hours of work with PC unable to perform any different action;
- original pdf file 3.4MB -> final pdf file 98MB
I wonder if there is a way with Photoshop and Bridge CS5 to avoid the raster process on the pdf pages so I don't need to waste time to perform similar action, because it seems my custome have a ton of other similar files...
Or any other software that can do that (hopefully free, I can't buy an expensive program for that feature only).

1. Why dont u try it in pdf itself?
U can just crop the required area in pdf file using crop tool so it can be applied for all the pages at a time.
2. If u trying to remove particular area on a pdf u can place a white box on that area using pitstop tool it can be saved as actionlist like batch processing and applied for any number of pages and files.
Making this in pdf itself won't get u more file size. Size will be as equal as ur source file.

How to use command line with acrobat to extract page(s) from pdf file?

I have adobe acrobat, and have a pdf file with over 500 pages. I need to extract small chunks of pages from it as seperate pdf files. I was hoping I could use command line interface to do this faster.
Something like:
acrobat src des start end
so for example
adobe file.pdf my_folder 3 5
Is this possible? There are many chunks and I don't want to manually do it for every chunk. Command line would be much easier...

It should at least have these 5 arguments: (well the first one is not neccessary since were not using acrobat anymore...)
[program] [src path/src file] [destination path/file name] [start page (inclusive)] [end page (inclusive)]
for example:
acrobat ./my_file.pdf ./my_folder/chunk1.pdf 3 5
if start page == end page, then it only extracts that one page.
So this way I can just stack these comands on a .bat file or something (maybe like 100 commands), then run the bat file, and it will create all the files.

Another "extract pages" and "split" PDF question

I have subscribed adobe's convert to pdf and I was happy with convert function until I found out that I can't upload nor convert 59 MB of a file. Tried several methods, non of them worked. I decided to split the pdf or extract pages that I want it to be converted but guess what? There is no such function. Even if there is, it is very well hidden.
Can someone please explain me how the heck do I extract pages or split the document in parts? Non of the online free splitters work on my file.

When I extract pages from a PDF and go to "Save As", Acrobat completely crashes and disappears. Why?

I work for a remote desktop hosting company, and am having an issue with Adobe Acrobat that we have installed on one of our customer's terminal servers.
The OS running on the customer's TS is Windows 2008 R2 Standard. The customer is running Windows 8.1 on their local PC.
Basically, the customer will open up a PDF within Adobe Acrobat, extract a couple of pages, and go to "Save As" within the new window. At this point, the software will crash and close immediately.
Going through the same process on another Windows 8.1 PC, logged on as the same user onto the TS, the problem does not happen.
It seems that this problem only happens on the customer's PC. We have tried logging on as other users on to the TS from this PC and get the same crashing and closing problem.
Is there an obvious answer to this that I seem to be missing?

InDesign Button Action for PDF – Open File (in new window)

I am using the 'Open File' action on buttons in a document i am making which will eventually be a PDF, but am wanting to specify the button action to open the file (another PDF) in a new window.
I have found that I can achieve this and add button actions with this specific behavior in Acrobat, but it seems to be missing in indesign's abilities as far as I can see. Is there a way to do this in indesign so that i do not have to tinker in acrobat after I have made my PDF. As if I have changes to the PDF, all buttons then have to be totally re-done each time, and i will have possibly 900 buttons!!

You are correct. I want to have a DVD with multiple PDFs. The main one almost acting as a table of contents for the rest.
Problem = the 'main one' is 62 pages long, many hundred buttons and every page has at least a few of these links needed.
Which means, if you are correct (and I believe you are, hope you aren't) that I need to custom code these buttons in Acrobat.
The method is easy, but x300 = painful. And then the kicker... Boss says, 'Change slide 30' ... which means: Back to InDesign, Export to PDF, Recode ALL BUTTONS.
*Note, there are some 'interactive' buttons with roll over states. So I don't think replacing the pages would work.

I am using SSRS 2008 R2.
I have two TABLIX in a report. One is TABLIX with row/clumn grouping. 2nd one is flat view.
Here each tablix is dispaly it's data on single page for each.
My Requirement on First TABLIX is:
1. I have to make column headers visible on scrolling down
2. Export to PDF - column headers must be visible on all the pdf pages for same tablix data.
But ... either one is achieved at my end.
so ... any suggestions please to achieve both at same time.

According to your description, the first tablix is matrix to use display data.
In SSRS, if we want to fix matrix header visible while scrolling and repeat header columns on each page, we can select the corresponding option to enable this function. Please refer to the steps below:
1. Right click tablix, and select Tablix Properties.
2. Select “Keep header visible while scrolling” and “Repeat header rows on each page” to enable these function.
If we are use table to display data, please refer to the article about Repeat Header / Keep Header Visible in Tables.
