Extract photo from video clip?

Can I extract a photo from an m4a video clip?
I used my iPhone to shoot about one second of video instead of a still picture, as I'd intended; now I want to get a still from the clip.
Any ideas on the best way to do this with iPhoto or iMovie, or some other application? Thanks.

Not with iPhoto - try iMovie - there is a forum and a help menu

  • Extracting audio from video clip to use as narration?

    Hi there,
I have a video clip in which I want to take the audio of actor speaking and put it onto another video.
I.e. he is speaking about walking in the park. I want to take him speaking about walking in the park and put it onto the clip where he is actually walking in the park.
How do I do this in premiere elements 10?

    Hi Bill,
Thanks for the quick response. I guess my question now is how would I do those two things?
In terms of exporting the audio, where can I find that option when I'm on timeline?
What do you mean by "Alt-click" and what is a "muxed file"?
    Thanks again,
    Mallory

Welcome to the forum. There are several ways to accomplish this, and your choice might well rest on how you like to work, and what you are doing, such as Deleteing Video. First, you could Export/Share just the Audio as a PCM/WAV @ 48KHz 16-bit, from your Timeline, and Import that into a New Project, where the Audio WAV file would be used. OTOH, you could Atl-click on the Video portion of the muxed file, and Delete the Video, leaving only the Audio portion. Good luck, Hunt

  • Trying to distinguish photo from video clip ?

    Hi,
I have just started using A3. I have noticed that it is difficult to distinguish between photos and video clips in A3. Only from the metadata badges you can see a very small icon in the bottom right hand corner.
Is there a better way to easily see a which is a video clip ?
The only way I can see is to sort by file size.
    Any inputs ?

There should be a default "Videos" Smart Album in your Projects and Albums shown on the Library tab of the Inspector. That will show you all or your videos.
As you've noticed, video are flagged with a small badge which you can show in either the Viewer or the Browser. (The shortcut for showing metadata overlays is "u" in the Browser and "y" in the Viewer.) You could apply a colored label to all your movies if you would like them to stand out more in the Browser. In the "Videos" Smart Album, select all, then "Metadata>>Label>>ChooseColor".
There are, of course, any other number of ways to do similar things. Filter on +"File Type = Video"+. Put all your videos in Projects in a separate Folder. Make Albums of videos. Apply the keyword "Video" to all videos. Append something like +" video"+ to the filenames of all videos, and then just use the text search.
    HTH.

  • Creating and saving a photo from video clip in iMovie '11

    Hello,
My dad took what he thought were photos from his iPhone. Turned out to be a bunch of one second video clips as he accidentally had it on the video camera mode. Trying to create a still photo image from these clips. What's the best way to do this? Is iMovie able to do this? If so, some guidance would be greatly appreciated.
I did try searching with no luck.
    Thanks for your help,
    AJ

You can import the clips from your iPhone into iMovie 11.
There are two approaches. Let's call them the shotgun approach and the rifle approach.
    Shotgun approach:
Drag the 1 second video clips into an iMovie Project. Then SHARE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME.
Choose Still image sequence. This will give you 30 jpegs per second for all the clips. In other words, it will give you every single frame, converted to a still.
    Rifle Approach:
Download a free app to your Mac called MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5.
    Open MPEG Streamclip.
In iPhoto, right click on one of the Video clips, and select "Show in Finder".
Drag these clips from the Finder into MPEG Streamclip. You should be able to hit the Play button and see them all.
Move the playhead in MPEG Streamclip to the exact frame that you want. Then click FILE/Export Frame. You can choose whether you want JPEG, TIFF, or PNG. And choose a location. Move the playhead to the next frame you want and repeat.

  • Sorting (separating) photos from video clips  in iphoto 5

    Hi!
I have 15,000 clips in my iphoto and time to trim her down. We use little canon powershots, which also takes this little video clips. Kids have put a lot in there. 4 years, 2004-2007
Everything is sorted by date, of course. IS THERE A WAY to separate out (so I can view and store or trash) the many video clips from the photos?
Currently, I am just scrolling down photo by photo and trying to catch the video clips as I see them.
I am looking for an easier way to put all these clips (vid) in one place
    JON

    Hi JON,
Make a Smart album with the criteria of "keyword" is "Movies"
Now you can see all the movies in one album. From there you can view the movies, trash the ones you don't want, drag the ones you do want to the desktop and put them all in a Movies folder and put that in your users Movie folder or burn that folder to DVD to safely store the movies.

  • Extract Audio from Video Clip

I want to extract the audio from a video clip and use it in another setting as an MP3, AVI, WAV -- or whatever. How do I do this in FCE?

Export a QuickTime movie and select Audio Only. You'll get an AIF file @48kHz. You can then convert to other formats in iTunes or other software.

  • Told by adobe that I should purchase photoshop elements 13 to extract photo from video but it will not even open a video file -- what am I missing?

I am supposed to be able to extract a frame from PSE 13 but it will not let me do so.  Specifically, Select File > Import > Frame From Video is supposed to allow this but when I click Import, there is no Frame from video option.
Here are the instructions from the Adobe website:
You can play a video from within Photoshop Elements and grab frames to edit and save as images.
Select File > Import > Frame From Video.
    Browse and select the video.
Click Play. The video starts playing in the Frame From Video dialog box. You can use the playback controls to display the frames your want to grab. If you find the audio distracting, select Mute.
Click Grab Frame.Photoshop Elements places the grabbed frames as images in new files., ready for editing.
    Click Done.

This is strange because I found the following on the adobe PSE 13 website (but the Select File/Import does not include Frame From Video:
You can play a video from within Photoshop Elements and grab frames to edit and save as images.
Select File > Import > Frame From Video.
    Browse and select the video.
Click Play. The video starts playing in the Frame From Video dialog box. You can use the playback controls to display the frames your want to grab. If you find the audio distracting, select Mute.
Click Grab Frame.Photoshop Elements places the grabbed frames as images in new files., ready for editing.
    Click Done.

  • I've been using iMovie for a while now to make movies out of mostly travel photos and video clips.  I try to vary the time for the photos from 1-4 sec.  Any ideas out there?

I've been using iMovie for a while now to make movies out of mostly travel photos and video clips.  I try to vary the time for the photos from 1-4 sec., although most of them are 1-2 seconds so as to keep it short.  A friend of mine who saw my most recent product said that this is too short.  Any ideas out there?

I apologize for my confusion on your question.  I find that depending on the principal of each photo and my target audience to determine the time frame for each photo.  It seems most people get impatient with viewing one photo for more than 1-2 seconds if the photo is not complex.
If there are several things that interests the viewers in any one image, they want to look at it a second or two longer.  If the movie of images is a training aid, the images may need to be more than 3 seconds.  For intro's, or a trailer for a training movie, no longer than 1-2 seconds.
That was a long answer to say, generally speaking, I find 3 seconds to be an average time length.

  • Date stamps from video clips

I would like to extract the date/time of recording from video clips recorded with digital photo cameras (in MJPEG format, wrapped in either AVI or MOV files). The idea is to automatically index them into a database.
From what I understand, digital photo cameras usualy store their film clips in either AVI or MOV files:
    http://www.digitalpreservation.gov/formats/fdd/fdd000060.shtml (AVI)
    http://www.digitalpreservation.gov/formats/fdd/fdd000089.shtml (Quicktime)
Drew Noakes has made a great library for extracting the time stamps (and a lot of other stuff) from JPEG photos:
    http://www.drewnoakes.com/code/exif/
I wonder if there is any similar library, working with film clips, or if there is any handy information over how to extract this.
    TIA

I have written some code that does the job for several types of AVI files. If anyone is interested, they can find it at:
    http://www.eden-foundation.org/products/code/film_date_stamp/
Any tips for doing this with Quicktime files?

  • IMovie11 - MARKING PHOTOS AND VIDEO CLIPS USED IN PROJECTS

After endless research, I have finally figured out how to mark the photos and video clips I have in my project so that I don't duplicate them in my project. It's actually easy once you know how to do it.
    1. Create your new project (Movie)
    2. Create your event with the photos and videos you want to use from iPhoto. Name your event same as your Project to make it easier to find the event for that project. The work flow will be > Event > iPhoto Library  > Albums > Select the entire Album or individual items.
iMovie will not mark any photo or video that is not stored in iPhoto, so make sure you have your Photos and Video stored there. You can always delete any media later you don't want to keep. I found it easiest to organize the media I will be using in a project into an Album, and give it a name relating  to your Project so you know where they're at, and you don't have to sort through your entire iPhoto collection to find them.
    3. Now you have your Photos / Video in your event.
    * As you ad the media to your project, an ORANGE line will appear on the media indicating you used it in the project you currently have open.
    * If you see a PURPLE line on any of them, that indicates they are used in a different project you have created. >>> See Attachment ...
Remember that you will only see these mark lines in events.

If you don't want iDVD to show its theme or menu then go into the Map mode in iDVD and drqg the slideshow containing the photos and video clips into the blue Auto Play bin at the left.
When inserted into a DVD player it will begin playing immediatey.  However, when findished it will fall back to the menu so use the menu which would look best for the situation.  They can be modified by droppiing image files into the menu settings bin to give it a different background.
Make sure your photos and video clips end up  in the slideshow together:

  • Extracting audio from many clips at a time

I have to extract some audio from many many video clips, so I was attempting to do it in one step, but Logic extract only from one clip at a time
So I'm thinking to use Audio Converter (it can extract audio from many clips in one step), but it ask me the AIFF encoding Bitrate (among 64 and 192 kbps). So I'm wondering... but Logic which AIFF bitrate manages???
    Tnks

yes, it is possible. Infact, it is the normal practice to add those 10 roles to that single user in SU01 direclty.
and as I said, user comparison should be scheduled normally in SAP system landscape to do the things automatically, however not immediately but after some time.

If you want user comparison immediately, then you need to do it manually in the role.

  • How to Delete several Audio clips from Video clips on Timeline of APPro CS5

I  would like to know how to delete multiple audio clips from Video clips at once in time line in APPro CS5? Please advice step-by-step procedure. I can DELETE audio from a single Video clip. But I wanted to DEL Audio from multiple video clips. Your help is much appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for the advice given by Shooternz, Colin and Jim. Your help is much appreciated for a beginner like me... Jim's idea was also good..It worked for me and also safe if I need to use the original audio. Following method also found good...but previous audio clip cannot be extracted after deleting it. ... 1. Hold down "ALT" key first then select the first audio clip in the chain of video clips to Delete. 2. Hold down " Shift + Alt " keys together and click right mouse button on all audio clips to be deleted one by one. Make sure only audio clips are selected. 3. Then release ALT+Shift keys and then click right mouse button and select "Clear" from pull down menu to Delete all selected audio clips on the time line. This method works very well for me. Thanks for every one who has adviced me how to do it. Thanks guys... If u all find better method tha above...please inform us. Thx.

  • Music splits when adding photo and video clip

Every time I add a new photo or video clip it makes the music split, so there is a gap in music from the beginning of the clip to the end. I can pull the music back, but that is getting aggravating. Is it the setting I have it on?

There's a grey horizontal line near the middle of each track. When you drag a new item from the browser into the timeline, it appears with a black arrow. As you drag, when the cursor is above the grey horizontal line, the black arrow points right, meaning you're performing an "insert" edit, which moves everything else to the right in the timeline. If the cursor is below the grey line, the black arrow points down, meaning you're performing an "overwrite" edit, which should leave your audio tracks in place.

  • Replacing a photo or video clip

    Hello,
What is the easiest way of replacing a photo or video clip with a different photo or video clip on the timeline without messing up the overall sequence or length of the video?

    Hi(Bonjour)!
You can do a replace edit. Place the playhead at the start point of the clip you want to replace in timeline. Open the new clip in viewer (with this playhead at the in point or start point). Drag the new clip on the edit ovelay in canvas to the replace option. This process will work only and only if there is enough material in the new clip to cover the old one. The 3 edit points method can be used to do a more precise job. See the manual.
