Extract photos from .m4v

I have a few .m4v slideshows/movies that were made with iPhoto. I don't have the original photos (crash) anymore. Is it possible to extract the original pictures from the .m4v file again? Other then making screenshots or use or tools like mpegstreamclip. Hope to be able to break down the .m4v file into pieces without Slideshow features and background. Thanks!

Afraid not. There are no "pieces" like that in an m4v.

    You cannot.
Why are you opposed to paying for some software to help do what you want?
You can restore the backup to your iPhone then sync the photos to your computer.

My iPhone shows up in My Computer when I connect it to my Acer laptop.  I then cut my pictures from the iPhone files and save them on my laptop's hard drive.  My iPad doesn't register under My Computer.  Why not and how do I extract photos from my iPad??  iPad and iTunes are up to date.

    1. Quit iTunes and reboot your PC and iPad and try again.
    2. Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo

  • Can no longer extract photos from my iphone to my computer

For the first time, I've been unable to extract any of the photos from my iphone (original) to transfer to my computer. I think I've tried almost everything... including resetting all my settings and going directly to "my computer" and trying to access the files from there. However, I keep getting various messages depending on the methods I try. The most common of messages I keep getting is "The device is not connected or busy" or " the battery is low" ( my phone is usually charged) --which I've continually verified and double-checked , but to no avail.
Has anyone experienced a similar problem?
    Thanks!

Howdy folks! Same problem here since the iPhone 2.0.2 update. iPhoto says, "There are no items to import." And i double checked .. yup .. still 6 photos on my iPhone waiting to be transferred. And it's plugged into the same USB slot it always has been plugged into. And it's not on a USB hub. Nothing's changed except the 2.0.2 update earlier today.
    Little help..?
    Thanks a system heap!

  • Extracting photos from backup of iPhoto Library without iPhoto

I recently had to do a clean install of Mac OS X 10.7.5 because I had some funky file structures in my hard drive that were rendering my 8 year old Macbook unusable. I have a full Time Machine backup on an external hard drive and had to drag and drop what I wanted from the backup over to the cleaned hard drive as opposed to doing an automated restore (because I didn't want to restore the funky file structures that had screwed up my mac in the first place). So now I have everything I want back on the cleaned Mac except iPhoto won't open after being copied over from the backup. Fine - I didn't really care for iPhoto anyway so I don't want to buy it. Now I am trying to extract the photos from my backed up iPhoto library to get them on the Mac in plain old folders. I right click the library, select show package contents, select "originals" and then try to copy that folder to my cleaned hard drive - I get an error that I do not have sufficient permissions to do that. Same thing with any folder level.
I have tried iPhoto Library Manager - but that needs a working iPhoto application...
How can I get these photos out of this back up library without having to copy each one individually???? It's driving me nuts. grr.

Here's how to restore an iPhoto Library from Time Machine:

  • Extracting photos from a slide show

Sorry if the Subject is misleading. Here is my situation. I have a large iphoto library that has MANY duplicate pictures AND my wife painstakingly and loving created a very large slideshow with transitions, music etc. I would like to remove the duplicate pictures BUT I do NOT want to damage, change, rearrange any of the work that she has done. SO... My thought is to extract or copy or whatever the photos in the Slideshow to a temporary folder. do my cleanup work on the duplicates and then restore JUST the slideshow photos (I will live with a few dupes) The main issue is there does not appear to be a way to copy the photos OUT of the slideshow once they have been put in. The slideshow itself is not built on an album and she does add photos to the slideshow by dragging the photo from the even directly onto the slideshow marker on the left side of the iphoto window. All that being said all I want to do is get rid of the majority of my dupes and still preserve the work my wife has done. I'm not married to any particular way of doing this. Any/all help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Select all the files in the Slideshow and give them a rating - say 5 stars.
    Now a Smart Album
    File -> New Smart Album
    Rating -> is -> 5 Stars
Will gather them outside the slideshow.
In that Smart Album Flag all the Pics.
Now switch back to Photos View and you will see all the photos from the Slideshow are Flagged. Don't delete them.

  • Can I extract photos from a slideshow?

I was given a slideshow someone made. It is identified as VIDEO_TS.VOB and opens in VLC. It won't play in Quicktime. Anyway, is there a way of extracting the original photos from the slideshow?
Thanks for any help you might be able to give.

    N-h:
Unfortunately, no. A screenshot is the best you can do. The original photos were converted to a 640 x 480 size for use in a QT format movie. Maybe it's time to consider an external FW hard drive for backup purposes. It's very cost effective insurance against such loss.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Extract photo from video clip?

Can I extract a photo from an m4a video clip?
I used my iPhone to shoot about one second of video instead of a still picture, as I'd intended; now I want to get a still from the clip.
Any ideas on the best way to do this with iPhoto or iMovie, or some other application? Thanks.

Not with iPhoto - try iMovie - there is a forum and a help menu

  • Extracting Photos From Live Capture Mode

    Greetings,
Is it possible to capture still frames live from my HD camcorder when I connect it to Final Cut Express and open Live Capture mode? I'm working on a stop motion animation and thought being able to capture photos from my camcorder and then have them directly transferred into my editing program would be useful.

  • How do i extract photos from previous backups?

I cant figure out how to extract photos and other online services are asking for payments.?? please help i have photos i need.

You would have to buy a backup extractor.
The backups are not inteded to be viewed.  They are for restoring settings to your iphone.
You should be importing all pics taken with your iphone to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera.

  • Extracting photos from Ipod video 30g

    Hi,
My hard drive on my pc failed, and I lost all of my pictures. I do have them on my ipod. Now with my new hard drive I am trying to transfer those photos back to my machine or copy them onto a CD. Is there a way I can do that.
    Thanks,

There are various programs out there for recovering photos from an iPod, have a look at the ones below. If you search the internet you can find more:
    iPodPhotoCopy Windows only
    CopyPodPhoto Windows only
Tansee iPod Transfer Photo Windows only
iPod Photo Liberator Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
If you have full resolution copies of the photos on the iPod have a look here: Apple Knowledge Base article - Use Disk Mode to copy photos from iPod

  • Extracting photos from Pages

In Word you can save photos from a document as a file. However, the only thing that I have been able to do is save as a useless clipping file. Is there anyway to actually save it as a picture file?
    Thanks for any help

    Hello
Why not copy the files which are stored in the document's file ?
If the document is a flat one (the new default format)
    duplicate xxxx.pages as xxxx-copy.pages
    rename the duplicate as xxxx-copy.zip
    double click.
You will get a folder entitled xxxx-copy
Open it. You will see the pictures files.

  • How do i extract photos from a flash drive

I just recently switched from Windows to Mac, and haven't taken a class on how to fully use my computer yet. But I do have a flash drive that I put all of my photos on from my windows computer, and I would like to know after I plug in my flash drive, where do I go to extract the files to move them onto my new Mac computer, thank you in advance.

    Hi oneldr71,
    Welcome to us!
when you plug in your flash drive (USB?) it will appear as a white hard drive on your desktop. Double click it and you will see the contents.
If you have a folder with all your photos, you could import them into iPhoto:
    - either you drag the photo folder onto the iPhoto icon (camera with yellow palm three photo).
    - or start iPhoto first and "Import to library..." in the file menu.
    hope that helps!
