    How can I import a movie into iMovie 09 from a hard drive?  The movie will open and play in idvd but breaks into separate files that can't be downloaded when I try to import.  Can it be done? I am trying to create a disc of player highlights for a collegiate coach, and I am using movie files downloaded to my hard drive from a DVD created on a PC.

    No unfortunately it won't open in quicktime either.  It does the same thing that Imovie does, separates it into two file folders audio and video, and if i select video it opens to reveal 8 files that cannot be selected.  VIDEO_TS.BUP, VIDEO_TS.IFO, VIDEO_TS.VOB,VTS_01_0.BUP, VTS_01_0.IFO, VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VB, VTS_01_3.VOB.  All of which cannot be opened or selected.
    Opening it in Idvd and folllowing your suggestion works and I get a format code of NTSC.  Is that the same?  Thank you for your time and response.

  • Cropping Video into Separate Files

    Hi,
    Is there any way to crop videos into separate files in iMovie?
    Thanks!

    in short: no.
    the free 30d trial of FCPX would easiely allow to crop the video.
    or,
    free Mpeg Streamclip offers a crop feature too.
    keep in mind:
    resolution gets axed by 75% doing so => dramatic quality loss.

  • Can I separate the pages of one PDF file into separate files

    Is there a quick way to separate the pages of a PDF?
    For example, I want to take a 10 page PDF, separate the pages and save them as 10 separate files.
    I know I can go through and extract each page, but I need to do this with multiple documents that can be over 100 pages and to extract each page one-by-one would be extremely time consuming.

    See Thom Parker's latest http://www.acrobatusers.com/tech_corners/javascript_corner/index.php JavaScript Corner http://www.acrobatusers.com/tutorials/2008/04/js_extracting_pages/ Extracting pages from a PDF with Acrobat JavaScript for an example of JavaScript that can extract every 4 pages and place them in an email or new file. This code can easily be modified to extract every page.
    Or you can download http://abracadabrapdf.net/articles.php?lng=en&pg=15 AbracadabraTOOLS 2.5 to add new menu options to your copy of Acrobat that include splitting a PDF by x pages.

  • Converting Document object into XML file

    I was wondering how to convert a document object to XML file? I have read the documentation about document and Node but nothing explains the procedure of the conversion. Ive been told that it can be done, but not sure how. I have converted an XML file into Document by parsing DocumentBuilder. Just not sure how to do the reverse. Any help appreciated.

    TransformerFactory tf = TransformerFactory.newInstance();
    Transformer trans = tf.newTransformer();
    trans.transform(new DOMSource(yourDOMsRootNode), new StreamResult(new FileOutputStream(yourFileName)));or something a lot like that.

  • Saving multiples objects into a file

    I want to create a single file that has multiples things inside, like pictures (png) and texts. Does someone knows how it will be the structure of the binary file?
    I'm programming a draw software like photoshop, where my layers are BufferedImages. Theses bufferedImages must be saved into a file to re-open later and edit.
    Please I want just ideas....
    thanks

    If the objects that you store in your file are fairly independent of each other, one thing that comes
    to mind is to make your file a zip file of component files. That way you can use standard tools to examine
    it and edit it if you wish.
    Another thing to note is that if your file is largely a series of images, some image file formats,
    like tiff , jpeg and gif allow you to store sequences of images in one file.
    Here's a demo that creates a tiff file holding four images, then reads the file and displays the images.
    Stardard software like Kodak's "Imaging Preview" will allow you to flip through the images in the file.
    By the way, if you don't have readers/writers for format tiff, you can get them here.

  • Saving an object into  a file

    Hey all,

    Though I realise I should put something in an output stream,
    I can't find a way to put my object into an input-stream. How do I do that? Using which classes?

  • Extract words from JSP into text file

    Hi,
    I have a big problem:
    I want to extract selected words from a jsp file.
    Following are found in one of my jsp file:
    E.g.
    1) <td width="217"><font face="verdana,arial" size=2>ORGANISATION UNIT NAME<font color="#FF0000"> <font
    id="fontMandatory">*</font></font>
    I want to retrieve "ORGANISATION UNIT NAME"
    2)errPrompt(frm.txtDesc, "Maximum length is just 100 character only");
    I want to retrieve "Maximum length is just 100 character only"
    I try String tokenising, then check that is the token ends with ">", then the next token is the one
    I want, then loop until "<" is found. BUT this would not work as there is no spacing between some of
    the tags and the words.(e.g. <p>abc)--> This cauese the whole token to be <p>abc, so the "abc" will
    not be extracted as it does not have a "ends with >" in front of it.
    Even with using ">" as a checking does not work for pop up messages, as it does not have tags(refer
    to e.g 2).
    Please reply a.s.a.p...
    Really urgent!!
    Thank You
    Michelle

    for extracting the HTML tags, u can use DOM/DHTML
    I dont remember the syntxes, how to use, but i know that it is possible, just go thru' the DOM/DHTML

  • How Do I Extract All Pages From A Pdf File and Turn Them All Into Separate Files

    Hi i have  downloaded 100 reports into a single pdf, that must be extracted into 100 seperate pdfs. A prety straightforward question, that i was not able to find a straighforward answer to.
    Thanks for your help in advance!

    i have Adobe Acrobat Pro, Version 10, would that work?
    Mind you, I want to take the 100 pages and turn them into 100 pdf files, avoiding of course going through the process of doing it one page at a time, one page at a time, one hundred times lol

  • Saving business objects into xml file

    I have the following XML file parsed into a DOM tree, with 2 different types of nodes "TestCase" and
    "RealCase". Then I mapped each type to a different type of business object, TestCaseObj and RealCaseObj.
    Now, there may be addition of new objects, or modifications to the data stored in the business objects
    by my application. Eventually when I save the business objects back into the XML file, how should I go
    about doing that?
    <ROOT>
    <TestCase TestID="T1">
         <Element1>Data1</Element1>
         <Element2>Data2</Element2>
    </TestCase>
    <TestCase TestID="T2">
         <Element1>Data1</Element1>
         <Element2>Data2</Element2>
    </TestCase>
    <RealCase ID="R1">
         <Element1>Data1</Element1>
         <Element2>Data2</Element2>
         <Element3>Data3</Element3>
    </RealCase>
    <RealCase ID="R2">
         <Element1>Data1</Element1>
         <Element2>Data2</Element2>
         <Element3>Data3</Element3>
    </RealCase>
    </ROOT>

    The DocumentBuilder class does not allow you to parse a portion of the xmlfile. Therefore, it will not be possible to read "TestCase" into the DOM without bringing in "RealCase" nodes as well. As such, these codes will parse the entire xml file into DOM:
    DocumentBuilder builder = builderFactory.newDocumentBuilder();
    Document document = builder.parse( xmlFile );
    However, your problem can be solved by reading only "TestCase" nodes in DOM, as follows:
    NodeList elementNodeList =
    elementNode.getElementsByTagName("TestCase");
    Your codes will then change the data in the elementNodeList, without affecting "RealCase" although it is loaded into DOM. You can be sure that elementNodeList contains only "TestCase" nodes.
    Once you have made your changes, save the DOM back to the XML file, using the serializer method as discussed earlier.
    Good luck.

  • Divide work into separate files

    I have about 299 pages finished.
    I need to separate them into 3 or 4 separate groups, so when I start to work on them, I will only have to open one group.
    I have the work under one name on my dock, so I can just click and go to work, but I only work on one part of work each time, so don't want to open them all.
    If I could have 3 or 4 files on the dock, I could click one at a time.
    I know I would have to name each one with a different name or number.
    I thought I could highlite each section and save them to documents, but that didn't work for me.
    I also tried 'sections' (click at end of text where you want to section) but that didn't do what I need.
    I have pages '08, versio 3.0.0, on a MacBook Pro 10.6.8.
    Thank you

    Save a new document called My Work 01.pages
    Duplicate this in Finder however many times you want divisions eg My Work 01.pages, My Work 02.pages etc
    Then delete the unwanted parts one by one in each. Helps if each is a Chapter and the number is the Chapter number.
    Make sure you correct the starting page in each chapter, before you delete the unwanted chapters, to keep the sequence.
